- I spent the day with aaran and his stunning car, the triumph spitfire MK4.
aaran uses this car as a daily driver and what a daily driver, it is a beautiful example of a classic British sports car in the best colour. and what a car to drive.
is this the coolest daily driver? it's definitely a good contender 🙂 thanks for watching 🙂

Bought my first 1970 new when I was 21. Gave it to myself for surviving the Vietnam War. Drove all over the west coast. Loved the lay down seats, saved me a bunch on motel rooms.
Spitfire's weak links... that tiny clutch disk that fits in the palm of my hand and the inner axle U-Joints go out and make a clunking sound as you roll to a stop.
I have a rust free 1500 spitfire enjoyable simple technology love it.
Wow, I can't believe just how off the pedals are good old bl 😂 as stunning as they are I would still prefer a mx for a daily driver especially considering the price of a good spitfire now 🤯
Very true mate, they do seem to be on the rise again, saying that tho so dose the mx5 recently
Iv just bought a 2.5 1.6 not the fastest but certainly the cheapest good condition 67 k on the clock 12 months m.o.t 1300 absolute bargains
Nice car! Have a family friend thats going to sell me one for $300 to build with my son. Cant wait to start working on it.
Easy ass car to work on. Most everything comes off with a wrench. American size wrenches work well. Have fun. I've own two and did all my own work.
Need to learn to modulate your audio mate.
Videos are improving with practice, and new equipment arriving soon 🙂
I was specifically talking about riding along and the sound is at a given level, then BAM! It jumps to way loud. Not good. AN easy fix though. Otherwise, great vid.@@Flatcap_Media
So jealous 😢❤
I also own a yellow mk4 Spitfire (1300, 1971). The first time I drove it down twisty countryside B roads in the sunshine with the top down put a huge smile on my face. It felt like I was driving the Lamborghini Miura in the intro of the Italian Job (before it explodes in the tunnel of course!) Great fun although personally I would not want to use it as a daily driver.
Also should add that I agree about the pedals, they are shifted over to the right so like you say the clutch is where you expect the accelerator. I found that after a while on longer trips with your leg shifted over to the right constantly it is quite uncomfortable!
Over the years I owned a total of 8 Spitfires and 6 GT-6's. I loved them but they required constant work. Then in the 80's I bought a Ferrari 308GTS and had more fun.. The pedals are really offset to the right compared to the Triumphs. The wheel well intrudes significantly into the driver compartment....USA left hand drive cars. I still have a 1978 Spitfire that was just a body on a trailer on its way to the dump. No frame, just body tub and bonnet in very poor shape. It was bought right then and there and was eventually made into a 4 wheel drive oddity. I still have it. Yellow.
Right side indicator/side light is back to front ….
I have to say YES I Was the proud owner of a 1972 Spit. I live in Montréal Canada And I drove it everyday for 8 years, 12 months a year even during our tough winter. It always started even at minus 25 celsius. I was stupid to sell it when I had more than 240,000 miles. Simply à fun car. Jean-Pierre Samson
That's a great car there. And 240000 miles is a great milestone 🙂
Just found your channel! New sub here! Love the Spitfire's I even bought one last weekend.
Thank you very much sir ☺️ that was a cracker of a day. Always looking for feature cars 😊
Best way to use the overdrive is to have it in 3rd gear with the overdrive on and when you pull out to overtake flick it out of overdive and away you go 🙂
I had 2 spitfires....a 1300 one and a 1500 with o/drive. Both in the yellow colour. Wish I held onto the 1500 one :-(
i loved the car so much.... i bought one too quite hard to find a truly good one.
Agreed mate, I've heard some horror stories about some 🧐
Great, beautiful, awesome car....
