I think I might like the Sabji Masala better than Garam Masala. For dishes requiring Garam Masala, what do you think about switching it out for Sabji Masala? Also, I made this dish tonight following all the steps except I used carrots and celery instead of potatoes and used the canned peas and it turned out really well! I'm sad I only made two servings worth because I want more, lol.
You can definitely play around with different type of spice blends and see how you like it. Thanks for trying this recipe so quick.
Make your own garam. Its not worrh buying it tastes like sawdust
@@CurriesWithBumbisabji masala is the exact spices for Portuguese vindaloo.

Thanks for watching 😀
Terrific !!!
thats is a very tempting way to eat potatoes. I will try this recipe

This is making me very very hungry!!! Potatoes and peas are a wonderful combination.... My family recipe for American style potato salad includes a generous addition of peas. I make samosa sometimes, they are not complete, for me, without peas. Read your nutritional information on the frozen pea package.... they are very high in protein... Our local store has petite peas, frozen, they are small and younger than the regular ones. Heavenly.
PS. I would probably add about 2 cups of peas ... Mmmmmm
You can add as much green peas you like. I love petite peas as they are sweeter I feel but do not get them frequently at our grocery store
Very nice welcome 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤

Thanks so much for the sabji masala! It's really great having a recipe for something to keep in the pantry. I bet it would make a really good carrot sabji too!
Please do try making that masala because it is so aromatic
Will definitely trh it! 🙏🏽

Looks delicious! I can’t wait to try Mr Potato and his friends! 😊 thank you for the recipe ❤
Hope you like it!
I cook for a living apart from my academics, but not Bengali food, and have missed dishes that were so close to my heart and always were a part of my demands as a kid. This was a trip back home and almost makes me tear up. I can still imagine this lingering scent on winter days with luchi or kochuri
Awww!! Yes, this goes very well with luchi, porota, kochuri. Bhalo thakben.
I just finished making the Sabji Masala and it smells so good!!
See, I told you 😀
as always.☘️😎👏👏👏
Thanks 🙏🏾
Hi Bumbi 👋Hope you've had a great day. This curry is amazing (recipe 152) I really love the Sabji Masala. It smells wonderful and has a lovely rich colour. It adds such a delicious flavour to the curry. I really enjoyed making this recipe and will be making it again very soon. We had basmati rice and naan bread with it. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you so much. Hope you have a lovely weekend 💕

Please do give it a try and let me know
We are so lucky to get these delicious recipes from you!❤️
I am lucky to have you all as my friends. Thanks for all your love and support 🙏🏾
Personally I'd have halved the potatoes, but I'm going to cook it on Sunday night anyway - am sure it'll be delicious like all Bumbi's recipes!
Sure you can halve them if that’s the way you like them to be. My husband and I love them whole so I chose to keep it in that way 😊
This is the dish I've always adored from my childhood. Have it with bread, rice or paratha, they are always delightful no matter what the season. Thanks Bumbi for this delicious ubiquitous recipe
Jaani go, tomar eita khubh priyo ♥️♥️♥️
This looks so very delicious! I have watched a few of your videos now, and I think this is the one I will make first. Like your husband, I love potatoes!
Thanks for watching 🙏🏾
I could eat this everyday
😀
A delicious recipe. I didn't have baby potatoes, but I made it anyway with larger new potatoes cut into pieces and it was good. Thank you Bumbi for sharing this recipe. Now I also have Sabji Masala in the fridge for an other occasion, without the chillies though because my husband doesn't like anything spicy hot. I jsut add a little in my plate because it makes it so tasty
Thanks for trying this recipe. Glad you liked it
Waiting for the spices to cool down before grinding the masala, thank you for your clear concise recipes delivered in a calm measured tone. Much appreciated , thank you!
Thanks for all your support 🙏🏾
Your videos put me to sleep when im tired and when i'm hungry you better beleive im ordering a curry. I would love to make my own and i have done once or twice but buying all the ingredients is quite expensive in the UK and the odour didn't leave my house for two weeks!. More lamb and fish videos please! I'm going to make a Rogan Josh one day. Thats my fav video
Noted down your request but unfortunately if you cook it can’t be odorless
@@CurriesWithBumbi Yeah i know. I think it was the Garam Masala that stuck aound. I'm not a huge fan of that spice mix anyway. Maybe i will try it without next time
Hey Bumbi , thanks for the sabzi masala. It’s really a very handy masala and can be used for a variety of dishes. I love the colour of this sabzi. Will be definitely trying it out. Have a wonderful weekend 🌺
Have a great weekend my dear friend
Wow! Looks delicious! Just what I was looking for; an aromatic and tasteful potato curry. Thank you so much 😊😋

Oh wow!! This is just up my street Bumbi. At last! A curry just for me! Your husband must be in seventh heaven knowing what hes having for dinner. I can't wait!! Thank you so much for posting them. ( Especially this one) X
I made a large batch so he took in his lunchbox for one whole week😀. Thanks for all your support .
Oh! How sweet of you to do that for him. Your a woman after my own heart.x@@CurriesWithBumbi
@lenagreen4031 ☺️
I’ll definitely be trying this 👍🏻. It looks incredible.
Please do send me your feedback
@@CurriesWithBumbi I will. Will have a go over the weekend
@@CurriesWithBumbiJust been out shopping but nowhere around here has any new potatoes in stock yet !! Annoying. The greengrocer I spoke to thinks they should be in stock over the next few weeks so Ill have to hang on. Nevermind. Will give me plenty of time to go over the recipe a few times and make sure that I’ve got everything else ready. Ill be back 😊
Couldn’t find any kashmiri chillis either but Ive got plenty of kashmiri chilli powder so can I use that instead ? Otherwise all I can see in the shops are birds eye chillis and they’re a bit too hot for me.
@@DorisDay-lw4xs you can make this recipe with regular potatoes as well. If they are very large potatoes cut them into 6 pieces. If medium potatoes cut into quarters. Leave out the Kashmiri red chillies in your masala and use 1 teaspoon of Kashmiri chilli powder in the curry instead of paprika.
Heyy! New subscriber here and I can honestly say I love your vegetarian dishes, me having have diabetes helps watching your recipes. Thank you so much 😊

Great 👍🏽
I don't know which I love more Bumbi, your recipes or your beautiful, soothing voice. You should think about branching out and recording some guided meditations 😂. In the meantime, keep on teaching us the secrets of your kitchen please. Thank you 😊
Wish I had that patience and concentration to do meditation 😂
Wow i make a baby potato curry very similar to this1 i like to crumble feta cheese on each bowl I serve thank you bumbi always like to see your cooking
Sounds so yummy !!
Watching you again Bumbi....you have got me addicted to your food recipes.
I love potatoes & will make this recipe tomorrow night....take care Bumbi. Xxxxxx
Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks for watching
This is very good! My second time trying one of your recipes. I loved the way my whole house smelled so vibrant after I ground the spices. I made it pretty much just like your recipe only I cut potatoes and steamed them in a bamboo steamer. I also didn't add whole chilies in the spice mix, adding a little bit of Kashmiri chili powder to the mix after grinding. That stuff is spicy 😳 I had never seen it before, but for some reason my Costco had uncooked chapati that you can buy, so we had those to enjoy with this yummy delicious curry last night.
Wow never saw chapati at our Costco. Lucky you. I am so glad you like this recipe
Mr patatoooo
😀
Thanks! I don't know if I'll make this later tonight or this weekend, but I just found a can of green peas on my shelf stable food shelf and I think I'll go ahead and make this! I'll just have to switch out the potatoes for carrots. Only thing I really have to do is to get some onions, otherwise I actually have everything for this for once! Well, except the tomato but I do have tomato sauce so I'll use that. Just washed a little jar to store the Sabji Masala in after I make it. Other than that, I'm going to sleep now. Thanks so much for this delicious new recipe that I can't wait to try!
You will love that sabji masala
I always love the veggie dishes because I can add them as a small side dish throughout the week :)
The sabji masala looks yummy! I know Chinese desan or chili dipping powder is all the rage right now but it can be expensive for the amount you get in the package. I am thinking this masala could be used in the same way- to sprinkle on eggs or cut fruit or pretty much anything. I always love the make ahead spice blends so this is a must try!💕💕💕💕
You definitely can sprinkle over eggs and fruits. Thanks for watching
I'm making this right now! Just pointing out one error in the written instructions, for the Sabji Masala. In the video you toast the Coriander and Cumin seed together, but the instructions don't mention the cumin, only the coriander. Looking forward to finishing making this and digging in!
Thanks for letting me know. My apologies for missing that out.
That looks so good, thankyou again Bumbi ! I only just finished my third curry in a row, now i need more, my guts hate me !
Thanks for trying my recipes
@CurriesWithBumbi I made this yesterday Bumbi and came out really well, thankyou. Different flavour with the home made spice blend, makes a nice change, and got plenty of that spice masala for future use, so this was well worth making. Wish you and your family peace, take care !
I love potatoes this looks delicious. Bumbi years ago I had a boiled egg curry it was delicious could you show us how to make it please?
Hi, giving you the link to my playlist on eggs that has a number of boiled egg curries. Please do let me know if you found one of your choice -

mmmm looks very delicious, I suppose you cannot use tinned potatoes instead?
I haven’t ever used tinned potatoes so unfortunately have no idea. Thanks for watching
Can spices be dry roasted without using any oil
You can leave out oil but that little drop of oil does bring out the flavors a lot.
Instead of paprika powder, kashmiri chilli powder can also be added, I presume
Yes you can add it
Can I omit the salt altogether or will that spool the curry? I've high blood pressure so I need to omit salt from my cooking. But I know sometimes salt combines with another ingredient to enhance it.
Please leave it out if you have any concerns. Health is first my dear friend.
Is there a PDF video of all your food recipes. ?
No.
Just a note that the cassia bark is missing from the list of ingredients in the description
Thanks for letting me know
My wife doesn't eat many potatoes. What other veg would this work on? Suggestions please. Thank you...
You can use sweet potatoes. One of my viewers mentioned that she uses carrots in place of potatoes.
You can also use purple or white yams. The other root vegetable arbi/arvin will also work very well.
Ah so its vindaloo
No, this is not a recipe for vindaloo
@@CurriesWithBumbi no but all the ingredients are in Portuguese vindaloo. Cardimum bay; corriander; garlic tomato pepper onions; paprika kashmir. Longpeppers
Can i cheat and use canned potatoes? I don't have the energy to cook much . I'm recovering from a long illness and i love curry.
I haven’t ever used canned potatoes but if you are familiar cooking with them then please use it. Hope you have a quick recovery and feel better soon.
@@CurriesWithBumbi thank you. The canned potatoes have a can taste that goes away if you boil them in clean water . So hopefully they will be ok in this dish. I'm well on my way to complete recovery. Just hard to get moving.
