I wasn't a fan of his until he got into Latin maybe mid '90's and then his feel and technique just seemed to go to another level. At least that's what I thought.
A true genius and he will be missed very much. For those who gave thumbs down, they are either stupid or have no knowledge about one of the greatest musicians of all times. RIP Mr Chick Corea
I love, that he incorporated the audience like this in the beginning, showing them, that they are a part of the music and have it in them, and that they're not just bystanders! Thank you Chick! That's one of the reasons you will be so sorely missed!
I've probably heard these guy play this song 100 times and many of those times live and it never gets old. The mastery just keeps growing. This is the signature piece of the Chick Corea Elektric band band and few even try to play this tune. It's a masterpiece that belongs solely to these five brilliant musicians.
This is one of the most fantastic live performances I've ever seen. They are all amazing, led by Chick. I saw him live in about 1976, because some friends took me to see him at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago. I remember it being good, but I wasn't into jazz much at the time. Throughout the passing decades I've come to see how jazz is the music that's at the cutting edge, and this stuff just slaughters me now.
It is insane how many years of musical experience you can find here on stage. These guys were already insane when I first listened to them in the 80ies and now after so many years it is an explosion of excellent composed music. None of these guys has to prove anything anymore in terms of technical aspects, they are already masters for ages but way more musical and groovy than they used to be in the early years. What pleasure to listen to these extraordinary musicians. Thanks a lot for sharing this nice memory of Chick and his Electric-Band. May god bless him and his fellows, may he RIP.
How great it is to listen to seasoned Jazz musicians. They always go on like it's all no great deal! I remember most of these guys absolutely thrilling me in the 80s. Wish them, with me the absolute best.
Only Frank gambale can be surrounded by 4 of the 10 best jazz and sessions in the world and have them losing their minds like young children when he solos. He’s literally surrounded by genius talent and still steals the show in such a humble way. I also love how chick likes pranking the soloists with dissonant sub chords just to see if they go with and laughs while doing it. Only the fun bandleaders do that. The musicians know.✊🏾
Over-exaggerated praise to Frank Gambale.I really can't stand his annoying sweep-picking (read fake-picking).Go and find on youtube 24-years old Matteo Mancuso and discover a real threat to Frank.Matteo plays with such a brilliiant technique and in a way that Frank could only dream about.Even worse Frank would come out on an acoustic guitar in collision with greek maestro Michael Paouris.Matteo and Michael are the future of guitar.Anyway,Frank isn't capable of playing guitar on a level of good old Joe Pass.
Chick is doing something right that’s for sure! Amazing saw him Live at the Royal Albert Hall London late 90’s and wondered how long he could keep going for. Never thought I would be typing this on RUclips 20 years later raving! The whole Band are legendary, Chick really seems to Care for everyone he ever plays with or alongside this is an exceptional human quality. Truly inspired...
Damn I'm getting old. This was an amazing time to be alive when chick was striking out after RTF. So many great projects, so much talent, so boundless and fierce. Gawd those shows were fun.
Everything you need and beyond! My son took me to see them in Detroit on 8/12/17. They opened with Charged Particles (one of our all-time favs) and we were sucked right into a worm hole! Gargantuan collaboration that just keeps evolving! What a birthday gift!
Found Corea when I was 16yrs old and fell in love with his music.. Moved to NYC in 2000 from Indonesia to pursue my career and got to see This Whole band live at Blue Note in East Village like around 12 years ago?? And I got 1 box ticked off of my Life-List.. 👍👍 Thanks Chick
Mr. Pattitucci is masterful here. As impressive as his solo work is, his walking lines always groove and the little subtleties he throws in are like the perfect seasoning in a great meal.
The levels of listening, playing ability and confidence displayed by Mr. Weckl during his solo (duo with Chick Corea -part of the song) is staggering, bordering on scary. Brilliant by all involved! Thanks for being this effing good and for sharing it with the rest of us!
I'm so lucky to live in the Chick Corea Musical Universe. I love GOT A MATCH since 1985 in my vinyl disc. So..To watch that fantastic perfomance after 30 years is more that I could even dream. Amazing musicians and inspirations for my life. Chick Corea? What can I say? Unreachable artist....Unforgettable master. Unique. Thank you for EVERYTHING.
Sad to hear of Chick passing away. What a great video showing him having a ball. Frank Gambale does seem to be at the pinnacle of jazz fusion guitarists.
its here , the JOY and interact of jazz to the max . after all whats good of performing if its not as joyful as its here . way to be and to go , my hat off for you all
Though everyone in the band are the worlds most skilled musicians, I have to say that mr DW is not human! Even if He is so giving and a great human. He's not human... Such a top drummer, explicit tight technical musically equipped! Thanks for sharing this!
When Frank and Mike (Stern) go into "double-up" mode, shit gets crazy good improvisation-wise! The combination of their phrasing, legato and picking styles...along with their tone and note choices is YIKES, to say the least :-) 12:49.-13:03..YIKES

Chick Corea is obviously a master musician, but what he really excels at is assembling a group of master musicians around him! Holy shit are Pattituci and Gambale killing it big time. And then there's Dave Weckl. Level of awesome above 9000.
RUclips is definitely a funny place. This is jazz icon Chick Corea celebrating 75 years - and at least 50 years as being one of the most talented jazz pianists in history, with an amazing career, always creating, always recording, touring the globe so many times. And yet you see 58 dislikes. I mean, opinions are opinions, but this is beyond personal opinions. This is a celebration of art, talent and life.
I've been listening to Chick since 74 and he never fails to amazes me every time I hear him play. And of course he has a band that befits his genius. Thanks for sharing this video gem.
I got to see The Electric Band play at Tipitinas in New Orleans June 11, 1987. There chemistry is still there. My dad , sister & I got to talk with Chick outside the side door on the sidewalk during a break while he ate a banana. Easy going guy🎹
It goes double time into Gambale's solo [11:48] and he comes out guns blazing with straight up, in your face, killer bebop, Chick gives him a reassuring "have fun" (or "go Frank"/"go for it") [12:00], Gambale seems to relax and the mood instantly lifts. Not that the prior lines were any less amazing, just a super interesting and cool transition.
Finally found a killer video for tonite and I guess more nites . Man, looks like these cell videos are going pro just like the performers. I believe this is F.Gembale. Wow ,relaxed guitar player during a killer solo very hard to c . Thanks for risking your life to record this . God bless !
There are musicians and then there are Titans. These guys are certainly the latter. So glad we've got the memories and videos of this never to be equaled band.
Th bass player and the drummer deserve most of the credit they played for 15 minutes non stop the sax awesome player did his part and took a long break the guitarist same thing Chick on and off but drums and bass the energy they have to keep the grove going through out wow 😯
RIP Chick Corea. One of the greatest has passed away. We miss you dearly. ❤
♥
Being in 2024 and feeling the loss of Chick as if he passed away just yesterday.... We all miss you Chick!
The best combination of 5 musicians! Their chemistry is perfect
Now that you're gone I keep in cryin' ...
It´s crazy just how much Weckl has improved since the first Electric Band record. Truly one of the finest drummers on the planet.
Steve Gadd is still my favorite by far with this band!
Yeah, but he is late on the transition, and the band is pissed
*Honorable mention of Gary Novak*
I wasn't a fan of his until he got into Latin maybe mid '90's and then his feel and technique just seemed to go to another level. At least that's what I thought.
I absolutely agree. Like a fine wine that improves with age. One of the greatest drummers ever. My personal favorite is Jack DeJohnette.
The All time Dream Team! Chick, Eric, Dave, John, & Frank. The Electric Band. There will never be another. RIP Chick. You gave us so much. Thank you!
I agree truly amazing line up
OMG. Frank's playing always slays me, but his tone here is MASSIVE...like Godzilla on a tear. I LOVE it.
Damn good tone.
I may be wrong, but here recalls me more of his Ibanez S, early Elektric Band sound. His later *recorded* sound seems a lot different to me.
This is genius playing by some of the greatest musicians on the planet. Chick Corea will be sorely missed. What a mark he left on the world of music.
Have you checked out Hiromi and the Trio Project?
A true genius and he will be missed very much. For those who gave thumbs down, they are either stupid or have no knowledge about one of the greatest musicians of all times. RIP Mr Chick Corea
I still can’t believe Chick has left us. There will never be another Genius Like HIM!
RIP Chick Corea, you will be missed. Thank you so much for your fantastic music!
RIP Chick Corea! So many of us have been blessed by his music :)
I love, that he incorporated the audience like this in the beginning, showing them, that they are a part of the music and have it in them, and that they're not just bystanders! Thank you Chick! That's one of the reasons you will be so sorely missed!
Patituci's impro here is completely out of this world
Juanjo Poveda Yessir bro
It was spectacular!
Yeah! around 9:35 Frank Gambale shows some mild amazement. then a few seconds later he and Chick look at each other as if to say that John is on fire.
Tell me about it. And not even breaking a sweat!
His is one of the most melodic bassists I listen too. His soloing isn't cliched like so many of us bassists. A true master.
I've probably heard these guy play this song 100 times and many of those times live and it never gets old. The mastery just keeps growing. This is the signature piece of the Chick Corea Elektric band band and few even try to play this tune. It's a masterpiece that belongs solely to these five brilliant musicians.
This is probably my favorite Pattituci's Got a Match bass solo
Yea I always come back to this video just to watch his solo
Dave Weckl is playing Star Trek Tri-Dimensional chess on the drums.
Weckl's hair GAME is STRONG IN THIS ONE!!! ALMOST BOZZIO LIKE IN NATURE...
This is one of the most fantastic live performances I've ever seen. They are all amazing, led by Chick. We lost one of the best this morning
RIP :(

El genio de Corea acompañado de unos monstruos de la música.
Te vamos a extrañar mucho Chick Corea. Gracias totales!
Ahora descansa en paz.
The gold standard for jazz musicians on planet earth. Thank you Chick for the years of great music!
Im in complete shock! They are better than when I saw this in the 80s!!! Holy shit this is a treasure !!!!
Chick will be missed. Will always miss that banter between the band and the crowd 😢
How great it is to listen to seasoned Jazz musicians. They always go on like it's all no great deal! I remember most of these guys absolutely thrilling me in the 80s. Wish them, with me the absolute best.
Dave is such a beast... he was always good but now he burns so hard with total, utter, control... true master of his instrument.
mind blown.
he fucking went crazy here! totally nuts drumming
Chick added and still adds so much joy to the world thanks to his immense music contributions, his brilliance lives on thanks to videos like this
I still can't believe after 20 years that Gambale can play like this! Is amazing!!! All the band the same!
Such an honor to have seen this performance live. May you rest in peace forever to have left your mark as the GOAT.
When I'm 75 I wanna play like that! Incredible! And Weckl! Must. Practice. Now! lol...
RIP The one and only Chick Corea, the match will always be lit for you

@Dinko Grgat jeez have a tea and chill out!
@@dinkogrgat5188you sound like you just started playing…. When you hear enough, you leave that type of elitism at the door.
RIP Chick. Thank you for sharing your light with us.
I like watching Frank, he's not just shredding on auto-pilot, he's really into it
1:20: Chick is like “nope you can do better than that, try again”. Lol.
God rest your beautiful soul,
Chick Corea.
Gambale still brings it large every time.
I hear that Gambale is Chick's favorite guitar player.
Isn't he just tearing it up on this?
You can see the respect the others show him, for mine he owns the stage.
jesus.... gambale.. is so clean the sweeps so rich and varied... mazing
For sure, his playing has matured like a fine wine!
He's the greatest. Takes it to another level.
Chick is doing something right that’s for sure! Amazing saw him Live at the Royal Albert Hall London late 90’s and wondered how long he could keep going for. Never thought I would be typing this on RUclips 20 years later raving!

Amazing musicians, love to see everyone's facial expressions while looking someone's solo..

Wow! Very VERY happy to see and hear these legends! Thank you VERY MUCH!
Chick's focus was UNREAL. In every single moment will brilliance. We miss you, Chick. RIP.

Same at 16 but in 1973, saw RTF with chick in 1981 concert
brings me to tears.... such perfection from everyone!!!!!!!!!!!
Have been fortunate to see this band numerous times and they never disappoint. Great musicians !!
Music at the very highest level. If you put a thumbs down on this, you have absolutely no sense of quality whatsoever.
Unbelievable star power on stage! Each player is a master of his own instrument and together they are a legendary band!
I’ve probably watched this 50 times, blows my mind every time
Mr. Pattitucci is masterful here. As impressive as his solo work is, his walking lines always groove and the little subtleties he throws in are like the perfect seasoning in a great meal.
That's not actually Pattitucci
