  • In my last video I announced that I'm going to be buying a new 2023 Subaru Outback. In this video I'm showing you the steps I'm taking to prep my car to be resold. The steps I'm taking will help me get the most when selling my car. I also compare online used car websites like Carvana, Carmax, and Vroom to help you determine if it's a good idea to sell your car online or if it's a better idea to trade your car in at your local dealer. There are advantages to both!

    Super helpful! I’ve been watching your videos every day gearing up for when my new Subaru Outback arrives. I’m looking to trade in my Civic due to convenience but I’m nervous about being low balled so I will definitely be utilizing these types!

    I always enjoy your videos. This was very helpful because it clears up how the trade to the dealership helps reduce the tax. My sales people are blowing through numbers so fast at that point that has been cloudy to me what they are talking about. My RV dealer was super helpful in this regard and like my Subaru dealership took care of tax title plates and registration. ( of course that’s the local dealership who added $1000 over MSRP and we drove 60 miles to a dealer who didn’t insult me after buying 3 and almost 4 Subarus. There are always lessons to learn. Thanks

    I love your videos. Ironically, I spent months searching for a good used outback during the pandemic/ used car shortage at dealerships only, and found that due to the shortages and consequential “run” on used outbacks, that none of the dealerships were doing any of these! NOT EVEN A WASH ! I can remember when a used car was dripping with armor all and you really had no idea that there was anything wrong with the vehicle. Oh well, times change. Thanks for the videos! ❤

Does your dealership offer paint protection offerings for new car purchases? What is your opinion on going with paint protection coatings?(ceramic coatings, std wax, protective films, etc….)

    About half a year ago I called up the sales guy we previously had. I asked him if all of the forester sport models were already spoken for. He seemed shocked that I’d even ask because my car is so new. He told me that they couldn’t honor Costco pricing right now and matter of fact everything is selling over MSRP. But he’d call me back about the current pricing. I never got a call back.
    While me & hubby were at a different/closer dealer for my inspection, we walked to the sales guy and told him upfront that he has the opportunity to steal our family’s loyalty - I clearly don’t need a newer forester sport but I want one (I’ve got a 2019 forester sport) - I am considering purchase if they don’t MSRP upcharge me. We built a car primarily using my current vehicle as base and added some upgrades - wrote up a contract and I put a down payment.
    I think I got really low balled on the trade in quote tho because I was tentatively only offered $2k over my guaranteed value. My car is only 3 years old, low miles and except for road rash scrape on a single wheel it’s in very good condition (no other exterior scratches, light scratches on interior and no stains.) The low offer bothers me. I don’t want to go thru the hassle and anxiety of a “private sale” - but I did some online quotes like KBB & Carmax - and sight unseen the offers are more like $6k -$7k over guaranteed value.
    I assume we are locked in to the sale price because I have a contract. But I still have power in trade-in negotiation and/or ability to sell elsewhere, right? It’s probably worth noting that even if I take their trade-in offer, I still will end up with a newer car and a refinanced payment the same as my old loan with maybe an extra year of payments.
    Sorry for the long story but you seem to be a good source of honest subaru info. Also - should I get the wheel fixed/replaced for a better sale/trade value?

    Alex good video. I noticed that your side load garage isn't very deep. Outback is 16 feet. I know that I had to move big tool box and other things to have plenty of room. Put 4x4 on floor as stop block. PS Paint or tape location of stop block to relocate when cleaning garage.

He stated it arrived at the port on 8/14. I just need your help to hopefully find out how long it will take for my car to arrive at the dealership from the port. I know that i just have to wait and not get my hopes up. My salesman is a nice person so don't get me wrong.

    Alex I watched one of your videos the other day when you were in the middle of purchasing your new Subaru you made a comment about the Forester being too big can remember the exact words you used but you have chosen an Outback which is bigger than the Forester I guess I just didn't understand your comment

    • @alexpmo
      @alexpmo  Год назад +1

      Hey Gary, sorry for the confusion there. Someone else had the same question as you. The Outback is technically bigger from a cargo perspective. It's about 2" wider and about 10" longer than the Forester, but the roof is shorter by a few inches. The low roof and the center console are the biggest reasons why I went with the Outback. The tall roof on the Forester also means it has larger windows. The large windows make it feel too open for me. The center console on the Forester sits low while the Outback center console sits up higher and makes it feel more snug in the front seats. Hope this helps clarify what I meant!
