    This matrix could not have dropped at a better time for me. I was browsing for trail shoes last night and decided to wait a day. Having seen the road shoe matrix of 2022 my instincts told me this vlog would be around the corner. Thanks Seth! We all wish you a speedy recovery!!

    It is important in this kind of vlog to add variables like rock protection, grip, performance on wet rock, performance on mud, road to trail.. I think the trail running matrix looks too much like the road running matrix and we need these variables to make an informed choice.. Still great vlog though!!

      Trail shoe comparison is difficult if not impossible, trail races rarely have a course with consistent surface type unlike road races where the surface is almost always uniform. Trail shoes in my opinion (at least for ultra races) comes down to comfort as your gonna be out there quite awhile compared to a road race and comfort is very individualizes subjective thing. If new to the trails go to a good shoe store and try on multiple shoes- if a shoe is immediately comfortable try another then consider other factors after (if your lucky) you find 2 or 3 comfortable shoes. Good luck 😀🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

    Yes hope this makes comment of the day. Trail running is something I really want to get better at and try. I am so close to NC mtns. I am an older runner at 55 years old. I want to spend more time alone just simply enjoying the trails and life. Love this post about trails. I currently have the EVO Speedgoat. But looking forward to trying other options. Great Vlog Seth. Keep up the great work. My favorite road shoe is speed 2 run shield. Need to try the Saucony trail shoe.

    My favorite company that makes running shoes is Salomon without a second thought. They don't just design solid trail shoes (Ultra Glide and Pulsar Trail Pro!) but their shirts and vests are top of the line as well. For shorts I prefer Gore and Fusion, but I wear Salomon tees and vests every single ultra.

Thanks for your continued inspiration Seth. We share an injury for now and your continued energy keeps me committed to getting back! 🔥

    I'm not even a trail runner (except for easy, well maintained gravel trails) and this matrix still has me excited about theoretically running some awesome trails someday. Alas, I live in the flat Midwest. I jumped back to last year's matrix after you mentioned the ASICS TRABUCO MAX and now I'm considering it for wet/muddy/winter running.

    Really helpful these matrixes. Now if only I actually knew what I wanted/needed and they would be even more helpful. 😅 But I'm getting there. I'm a relative begginner at running and the more I run and more I try different shoes, the more I learn what my feet need. One thing I've learned already is to stay away from stability shoes even though that was what all the stores were pushing on me because I have flat feet. I love really plush stability shoes to walk in, but for running I hate them. They're way too heavy and clumsy and they actually make my feet hurt after running anything over an hour. But for pretty much anything else, it's still a lot of trial and error, but at least your matrixes can help me pick up shoes for different types of runs, and will eventually figure out if I want softer or firmer or more responsive or whatever. 👍

    I definitely am one of the people who prefers a firmer shoe for trails. I think if you have good consistent form on the roads then a soft shoe totally helps but on the trail where every step and foot strike is a little different, the squishy softness tends to give you the illusion of just being able to place your foot and step the same each time and let the midsole smooth out the ground, but the forces are still translating up into your legs, and a firmer shoe gives me more feedback if I'm placing my steps poorly and I can adapt, which saves my joints.

    So after lots of testing of the Speedgoat 5's I've determined that I love the shoe but it's not a good fit for me with my peak race the Pikes Peak Marathon. The narrow toe box can be problematic for my foot shape when going down Barr trail (feels amazing on the ups). I've considered the Tecton X as the toe box seems quite a bit wider. The Saucony Endorphin Edge is really intriguing to me but am curious if it's nimble enough to navigate down the mountain? I really wish I could try all of these shoes on haha.

    • @JP11277
      @JP11277 Год назад +1

      I just started testing the edge. 10 miles in and the feedback is crazy. Without exerting extra effort i was much quicker through similar trails. The collar felt just a touch loose to me so far but I'm adjusting to it well. I've been in the the Ultra Glides primarily before this and the lacing system on the Glide is incredible so there's that. I think the Edge will be the trail shoe of 2022 and the technology is really ahead of other shows I've tried. Best ride I've felt in the woods

I do sometimes have that knee issue with too soft of a shoe but also don’t like bruising under the foot so I need shoes with rock plate. Then that opens another issue, which shoes with rock plates actually have energy return to keep you going for long runs. The tweeners there are harder to choose from with compromise of course but all that information is needed.

    For me it’s without a doubt salmon I’ve tried a lot of groceries and it seems like they’re the only ones that work other ones I might have more cushioning but I feel the ground so little or I’m so disconnected from the ground I usually end up tripping I don’t think I have even ever tripped and some I have enough cushioning I have enough protection but not too much I actually think they were designed just for me I’ve run in the real then more minimal ones and I also run my 20+ miles and stuff in the ultra glide and I love them all know I’ve tried all try they feel too sloppy for me I’ve tried some hookers summer OK the torrent was the best but they were still nothing like the salmon fit for me because my midsole is Canonero and Solomon just seems to cater to it😮

    Norda Run. Best overall trail shoe I’ve ever tried is the Norda 001 from Quebec. Willa and Nick Martire make brilliant trail-running footwear and are inspiring entrepreneurs.

    Yes, The Matrix I have been waiting for Salomon then Hoka. I am pleased with the results of knowing that the Hoka SG5's, inov-8 Parkclaw 280's and Salomon Pulsar are worth investing. Thank You Seth, get better and love to Lil Mary Kate
