    For the majority of us in the UK it's complete overkill, there are so many road shoes that work absolutely fine on the types of trails and canal paths that a lot of us run in.
    Run4Adventure did a great review out in Chamonix of this shoe and highlighted some of the issues in using it on "proper" trail routes.
    Keep up the good work guys 👍

    I have these shoes for 1.5 weeks ... i just beat another record like two hours ago, these are my first carbon plate shoes, and the experience is awesome .... i very curious to try the Fujispeed2/3 and the Hoka Tekton X.

    I'm a big advocate of the Saucony Endorphin Speed Road shoes (2 esp) but this shoe is poor, from the upper to the ride. The sizing for my narrow feet is over by at least a half and I did actually half size down in these, the upper is far too cavenous for a part of the shoe that should be snuggly attached to your foot and no matter how tight I pull the laces I can't get that ideal lockdown, certainly not one I can fully trust. As for the ride, I understand that they're meant to be stiff but I think they're too stiff, the ride isn't as bouncy as reported imo, in fact as I am stuck with them because I completed a muddy trail race in them I was so frustrated with the stiffness that i ended up bending them from heel to toe and I heard a pop so I think Ive snapped the plate - I did the same to the other side and got the same BUT in doing so they actually ride a lot a better now - not as stiff (PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS TO YOUR PAIR!) I'll keep them as a trainer for summer trails, they dont perform well in the cold/mud.

    Thanks for the review, i twisted my ankle 3 times on my first run, those are not stable and too soft, i have 8 Saucony love the Peregrine and Xodus Ultra, but those ones are not worth the money, my honest review, Saucony Canada confirmed to me those are very soft

    Tom I live in Burgess Hill and run up and around ditchling beacon. Would you say it’s great for that sort of terrain. Thank you for the content.

    Thanks for your review. The Edge is superb for buffed trials and a heck of a smooth fun ride. Yet it’s too tippy for my tastes on rocky and technical terrain, where the Hoka excels. The Norda 001 is even better than the X or the Speedgoat 5; it’s more comfortable and lower to the ground. Check out Norda! Happy trails (and roads).

    Not in the same boat but I’m stuck between the edge and asics Fuji lite 2. The asics is only $120. I mostly run on road so I don’t need both.

      I am also mostly a road runner. I have Fuji Lite 2 and Saucony Peregrine 12. Fuji Lite 2 las shorter lugs and is more suitable for road to light trails. It does not work very well if the trail has sharp rocks as it does not have a rock plate. Peregrine has deeper lugs and a flexible rock plate and works much better in more technical trails. I enjoy both shoes in their respective terrains.
      Also check out Saucony Xodus Ultra. Run4Adventure ran 80 miles in a race out of box.

      @@TolunayOrkun thanks for the response. I’ll checkout the xodus ultra as well.. I get 40% off on asics and 20% of on saucony so I tend to buy more asics shoes.

    I took the Tecton X on holiday and notched up 26 miles along the Jurassic Coast - no problems, still loving it. Not sure I could run with the same confidence in the Edge.

    Lost me at $230. C'mon shoe manufacturers. There's a reason I always run in the previous gen. shoes. Solid review though. Great camera.

    I think you guys should get me in to be your ‘unprofessional tester up north’ for trail shoe reviews. It seems your terrain is a little bit lacking. ;-)

    I don't get the point of a carbon fiber plate in a trail shoe as you are running on a surface that is soft, so how can a plate flex well on it as the ground just sinks.

    • @bilgyno1
      @bilgyno1 Год назад +1

      Not all trails are soft... I just bought a pair of these to see if the carbon plate really helps. I'll use it for speedy intervals on the compacted trails we have in the dunes here in Holland. Maybe for some races if I want to do them. I bought last year's model, so at €159 it wasn't in a totally different league than the Salomon Sense Ride I normally run in.

      @@bilgyno1 then just use a normal road shoe if it’s not soft
