    I've been running an EHX .44Magnum on my pedalboard for years and it's doing great. Now you need to try out the Mooer Friedman (012 model) and you'll be blown away even more. Use it with a drive pedal and you can either have the clean channel crunchy or the lead channel with extreme gain.

    Victory v4 preamp pedal into amptweaker depth finder into mooer baby bomb.
    Didn't go for the HB stuff because there were tons of noise reports and 'I am getting shocked by it ' (as in, you feel power through your body:)). But that was the first version, I believe this is the 2nd one.
    Victory v4 doesn't count as solid-state now I realize :). Still, its my rig on a single pedal board. I unplug the mooer and the depth finder and connect the AMT VirginCab vc16 to use as poweramp sim and IR loader when I'm at home and need to keep volume in check.

    Hi,
    I have a bit of a long winded question for you, apologies in advance.
    I've recently bought a Bugera 6262 212 combo amp, and the amp says it should be set to 16 ohms for internal speakers. It has a single 6.3mm speaker lead but two speakers and whatever the input source is it should be 16 ohms.
    I'm actually going to bypass the speakers and plug into an axetrack isolation cab I managed to get, it's a speaker and an SM57 in a sealed box. It uses the input from where the amp would usually go to a cab, so the amp gets full use, it just goes to the iso speaker instead of the combo speakers. The SM57 picks it up, there's an XLR out which I'm planning to connect to a Behringer UMC22.
    That plugs into a computer and has headphones out, but to be honest I'm not that bothered about recording, I'm basically using the whole setup as an analog attenuator with air and a mic rather than limiting the signal electronically. I'd like to get the output from the UMC22 to go to the speakers on the amp that I'm using instead of through PC or headphones, I asked on Amazon and someone said that the signal would need a power amp otherwise it would be too weak for the speakers.
    So my chain is:
    Guitar > amp section of Bugera 6262 212 combo > iso box with sm57 > xlr > Behringer UMC22 > ...... > speaker section of Bugera 6262 212 combo
    Can I output from the UMC22 into the Harley Benton Thunder 99, amplify without colouring the sound (at least not too much), then send to the speakers in my 6262 cab?
    This way I'd be getting all the tone of a cranked up AND cranked speakers, picking up that sound and being able to hear it, AND being able to play without a DAW when I want but also being able to use one when I do but still hearing the sound from a cab with zero latency.
    The goal is to get the sound of a cranked amp AND speakers that are really pushing air, but at bedroom levels, something attenuators can't do because they lower the signal so the speakers don't work as hard.
    So what I really need is a way to cleanly amplify the SM57 and get it playing out of my the speakers that are in the combo.
    So do you think it would work and be safe? I'd rather use my amp speakers than buying more.
    I don't know, I'm very confused lol.
    Sorry it's such a long question and thanks for your time.

    I've been tinkering with using my Katana 50 MkII as a powered cab, and using an Orange OMEC hooked to an iPhone running Biasfx, and switching it with a MidiCommander foot controller. It's honestly quite stupid how good it sounds that I'm thinking of getting a second Katana for stereo/dual amp tones of the cheap. A "poor man's" Helix/Fractal if you will. The OMEC also handles drive pedals in the front, so it's quite frankly been blowing my mind a bit. I've actually wanted to shoot a series of demos on how I've been using the OMEC, and went as far as emailing Orange regarding it with an encouraging reply, but unfortunately life threw me a series of challenges soon afterwards. Perhaps now's the time to get on that I'm thinking.
    Great demo Monkey Lord!
    Stay safe & well mate!
    Cheers!

    Rob, this pedal being adequate beyond a beginner accessory is not very surprising. I own a Harley Benton dual humbucker T-style guitar and while the electronics may leave something to be desired the body and neck are simply fabulous. As artists we all have an envisioned sound that we are chasing and too often a stock format by manufacturers costing 10 times the amount do not scratch that itch which places us in a position where we are switching out hardware and wiring sequences to get us closer to what we hear in our heads. Let's face it not everyone has the financial means to have manufacturers like Fender, Gibson, and such build us a custom one of signature model so a great body and neck combo that is uber affordable like you get with Harley Benton is a fantastic starting point.
    Harley Benton offers average small time gigging musicians affordable options that do not sound like complete garbage. They fill the gap by scratching an often overlooked niche itch. Thanks for the demo and your opinion.

    I do love a stereo guitar rig. :) Apparently it's 50 W per channel into 4 ohms, which could account for seeming equivalent to a 30 W valve amp (which has me wondering if the impedance matching is one reason valve amps "seem" louder). Class D amps are ridiculously efficient: the input power specs are 24 V x 4.5 A, which is only 108 W in for 2 x 50 W out!

    Of coarse, given that I'm not there in the room to hear it, and am listening to it from a youtube video coming off my computer into some Audio-Technica headphones...that thing sounds fantastic...that being said, I think it falls more in a 6L6 type of tone vs an EL34 type of tone...could be completely wrong there, but my point of reference is I used to have an Egnater Renegade 4 by 10 combo that had both in it, and you can dial to one set of power tubes, or to the other set, or dial in a blend of both...EL34's giving a tone that leans more to a VOX...thanks for posting this one, Rob...hope you and yours are well!

    Great product if your'e only playing guitar through it but with mine there is a problem when your'e singing while playing. It gives small annoying electric shocks from microphone grill to your lips which is quite frightening. I guess there is a grounding issue as the same problem doesn't occur in our practice place when playing with a real amp. If you check Thomann's reviews of the pedal you can see there are several other people who has faced the same issue. I've had two of these as the first one i got had its switch broken and Thomann sent me another one. Both of the pedals i've owned has the same problem with electric shocks which should be a recall case in my opinion.

    To actually emulate something like a Roland Jazz Chorus, you might need two chorus pedals and a stereo setup since the trademark sound is an odd Leslie emulation making it kind of sound Doppler-y by running the chorus at two different speeds, one on each channel.
    So now if you have a stereo instrument DSP that also has stereo out you can put that with this and make a sketchy 50W jazz chorus simulator for the cost of a week of coffees if you have a software DSP.

    Uninformed person here, do you just have the pedal board plugged into the speaker with no "top thing"? If so can you just plug the pedal board into a PA mixing board?

      He's plugged into a speaker but you won't want to plug straight into a PA system mixing board or you might fry it 🙂 (although headphone out into the mixing board should be fine)

    • @wido123123
      @wido123123 2 года назад +2

      The "problem" on going to directly to a PA is the cab. Digital pedalboars (usually) have cab simulators, so can go straight to a PA and sound like a ...well, cab. This rig cannot go directly because a) doesn't have a cab sim and b) 50watt output into a PA will fry everything (probably).

    • @jorismak
      @jorismak 2 года назад

      This is indeed a version of the top thing without any tone controls and such.
      You could in theory plug direct into a PA, but that would sound horrible. Guitar speakers have a very pronounced and HEAVY frequency response, they are as a drastic eq filter. Anf then you have the microphone you normally use for recording the guitar cabinet. That also does a lot to the sound.
      Plugging direct into PA would need this added somehow. This is what 'ir loaders 'do. There are also pure analog cabinet emulators in pedal format.
      Plugging distortion directly into a PA or mix desk without those filters will sound terrible!
      But in the early days of recording, for _clean_ sounds sometimes they plugged directly into the desk. Still happens with bass guitars sometimes.

    The thing about you Rob I’ve always noticed is you play better on better equipment, if you are reviewing guitars other than your own, I always know, either you found a lucky gem, or they are just good guitars.
    I wouldn’t expect that little box by that brand to be worth anything, but when you play that fluidly, I know it’s real……

    One thing that looks weird to me though, is this;
    Why would Bad Cat wanna work with someone who, as soon as he got his hands on a bunch of expensive custom amps,
    got live with a video trying his best to find a solution for a amp-free pedalboard rig, to skip his expensive heads?
    If I was doing PR or working with Artist Relations for that company, I'd question your commitment.
    No hate, just wondering.

    I know the feeling. My pedalboard is a preamp pedal into an Electro-Harmonix 44 Magnum. The ability to power a speaker cab from the pedalboard, that is SO CONVENIENT, and I absolutely love it. Better yet, they WILL keep up with anyone's 100w 5150 any day of the week of the year. So yeah. You don't need a fancy and bulky traditional amp head. Just get a pedal power amp. Problem solved.
    And if you want a different sound, just switch out the preamp pedal. You want a Marshall sound? Use a Tone City Golden Plexi. You want an Orange sound? Use a Wampler Catapulp. You want a Rectifier sound? Use a Wampler Triple Wreck. You cannot do that with traditional heads. With traditional heads, you get what you get.
    So yeah. I am a huge supporter of preamp pedals, power amp pedals, and the combination of the two.

      That's as maybe, but a) Thomann have many products so one could be forgiven for believing Mr. Chapman chooses products he truly likes, and b) I own several Harley Benton products (eg. their Vintage 30 cab; an attenuator; a guitar) and they are c) excellent and d) truly amazing for the stupidly cheap price. I don't work for Thomann but if they want to slip me a fiver to post replies like this throughout youtube, I'm up for it. [what's with all this a, b, c nonsense?...]. And I still don't know why I would need this Thunder 99....
