  • This video will show you how to build a mining rig. This is my first try at build a mining rig and I am doing this because the price of bit coin has jumped very high and I wanted to try my hand at mining some coins.

    I got my cards and antminers at IMINERS,CO and they are great group of people. Cards are cheap, support is insane, shipping is fast and they provide wholesale discount. My recommendation.

    This is the best mining rig tutorial i have seen so far, no bullshit extra stuff which hides the things which are actually necessary. I just bought 2 Rx580s and it has 6 and 8 pin connectors. I was wonder if i need to connect two PCIE cables(6+8 pin) or just 1 8 pin

    Awesome video. I am jumping into this as a hobby as I am about to retire. My power cost is .08 cents per kw/hr so I think that is a cheap price. Your rig looks really sweet as a starter with plenty of space to add more goodies as needed. Well earned sub. I would like to know more about your USB hd with the OS on it. Thanks.

    • @123myIT
      @123myIT  6 лет назад

      Had some struggles with the USB Windows to go. Because its a virtual drive it had issues with Windows updates. The next issues I had was with the virtual space and some weird stuff happening with rebooting. But I will definately get back to it. But time lost on mining was losing me $$$ so I had to opt for an old sata drive in the meantime.

  • @2bitminer442

    Great video, I hope to make videos as nice as this one someday. I didn't know you had a choice choice of the 6pin or the 8 pin connecter. I would of just plugged in both power connecters. I have been using RX 470 GPUs as they draw less power and about the same hash rate, so I didn't know about the additional power connecters on the 570.
    I think it is easier to connect the cables to the riser before you connect the GPU. I also think if you have extra PCI-E power connecters, it would be better to use them instead of the adapter. This way you have less to troubleshoot if something goes wrong.
    Great video I'm going to check out the rest of your videos.

    • @123myIT
      @123myIT  6 лет назад

      nice one mate thanks for the feedback. When you talk about extra PCIE power connectors what do you mean exactly? If you could clarify that for me as I am interested to know.

    • @2bitminer442
      @2bitminer442 6 лет назад

      I'm talking about the power connecters for the cards. If your power supply has extra or available PCIE
      connecters then use those instead of the PCIE to SADA adapter as you use in the video. This way if there is an issue there is one less part to check. Sorry about not being clear.

    • @123myIT
      @123myIT  6 лет назад

      Oh yeh yeh I get you. Yes I agree. Probably I need slightly larger power supply maybe like 1050 or 1200.

  • @tactrix1h

    The best suggestion I would give you is if your motherboard supports m.2 SSDs use them instead, since they're directly on the motherboard they take up no extra room at all and you'll never have any hard drive problems with them.

      They are actually not more expensive than SSD's are. They're right about the same price right now. In fact in a side by side comparisons the samsung 860 evo cost very literally the exact same price.

      I don't really understand all these mining rigs, You are better of buying a new pc with GPU's en cpu's because I see.... no rusults whatsoever, PS I have a Nvidia 1070 en 4 cpu's en only that brings me up to $6.00 dollar a day. so whats the point its a waste, I pray to god you've also bought 1070's its the best to the very best. what you should do is really go to www.awsomeminer.com or type it in on google en just buy a premium version of awesome miner I bet your results would skyrocket, I don't really know much this is just my 9th day researthing. it enables To go beyond 4 miners en other extravagant benefits. but it was a interesting overall 8/10 for the effort.

    My only question is does the total wattage draw of the GPU also incorporate the power from the riser? So lets say a gpu has a max draw of 300watts the risers supply 75 watts is that combined with the gpu's max draw? so if the card only draws 300 watts max tdp does that also include the power from the riser or do i need to factor in additional power consumption for the risers?

    Thanks for the time to show all this. A buddy of mine are thinking of going in 1/2 each to split our cost to setup our first miner. Since you've been up and running for a while, at the present speeds, how long before your at break even, if I may ask. Very clean looking rig too btw.

    • @123myIT
      @123myIT  6 лет назад

      My wife made me paint the rack haha thats why its clean. Break even you are looking about a year or more. But depends on things like, price of coins mined. If you mine something and it goes up rigs paid itself easy. Power costs. umm loads of things.

    • @pfiltz
      @pfiltz 6 лет назад

      Hello 123. I'm a part time I.T. person for a small company. We're running 3 servers already, so I plan on setting up my rig in the factory. So, no cost to me with regard to paying for the elec. I figure I'll have to post some figure in the mining software, so I'll use the lowest I can.

    Very informative and nice mining frame, but a 3 x high-end GPU setup will not be that economical on power running 24/7 and whilst you may be able to mine ethereum with this, you won't get anywhere with BTC which needs ASIC miners.

    Hey. Really nice video. I got some questions about the powersupply and cables for ryzers. Im thinking about making a rig with around 8 gpu's and worry about doing mistakes. Can i go from a 6 pin on the PS to 8 pin graphic card? what about 8 to 6? Can i do a 6 pin to 2x GPU's or do you recommend 1 cable for each gpu? Similar questions to the ryzers. Does 6 pin or 8 pin matter? can I chain them? I think i would run out of slots on the PSU. Thank you alot in advance.

    • @i6oo

      As a followup, if you were to add an additional layer of gpu's on top, the ryzer cables definitly would be too short to reach the motherboard. Did you buy some special ones somewhere? :)

      @@123myIT Except buying crypto is investment, like stocks, and mining is actually earning it, so it's not same. Plus, as long as you are in surplus with electricity cost, it's infinitely more profitable than investment because those can mine for years, and investment just follow price.

    Watch out, SATA is not speced to handle the 75 Watt a gpu can draw through the riser. You risk burnt cables, or worse. The SATA adapters that come with risers should just be banned... Plugin 4-pin connector straight from the PSU to the riser, or use PCI-e connector to different riser which has PCI-e ports (blue and white risers usually).

      Hi Dream, This cost about $2000 AUD about $1200 USD. UMM look profitability depends on many factors. Basically if you had that money and dropped it directly into bitcoin. Probably you would still be ahead :) Having said that once this pays itself off it will continue to make money. Also your power bills are a big deciding factor. IF you have cheap power then this might be ok for you. I plan to get solar panels to offset some of the power usage.

      Depends on how bitcoin is traveling. If bitcoin tanks, you lose money if it goes up. you make money. At the moment with 4 gpus its about $7 - $9 usd a day - power costs. NiceHash miner. You can use other Miners for increase profitability. Again I would probably be better putting that money spend direct onto Bitcoin :)

      i have basically the same setup as you, except iam using 3 x Radeon Pro WX 7100 cards .. i personally think they are better optimized for crunching numbers than dedicated gaming cards like the RX & Vega series..
      i mine more cheaper coins that have lower difficulty levels, i have been finding that its more profitable, than mining higher priced cryptos.. ETH for ex has a limit of 100 million, tho 96 million coins have been mined, so the block difficulty is too high now.. the competition is to great..
