Of the Ewings, it was Miss Ellie who liked Val. (She's the one who bought them the house in Knots Landing, when they reunited.) JR is the one who took Lucy from her, but Jock certainly went along with it. The writers should have had Gary ask Val to go to Dallas to support Miss Ellie. That would have been more realistic.
It would have been funny as hell if she HAD been mentioned in the will and Gary's inheritance was tied to her. Abby would have shit cement! All that plotting and the inheritance went to Valene. Now THAT would have been some Karma. But I am sure it made for better drama for Abby to get her hands on the money because she could do more damage with it.
Gary was an alcoholic with all that substance abuse to have liquor all the time Abby would have looked the other way like when he was under only Valene was there without judgement.
