So beautiful. I grew up with all these bands. 10CC reminds me of the long hot summers of 75/76 and gazing into the blue sky singing "I'm Not In Love" . As with all of these brilliant bands, we loved the music but took their excellence for granted. We always thought that it would be this good. Little did we know.

music has been creatively drained. Pop pieces are songs filled with nothing compared to this. The Beatles had one of those albums where it was one in a million in the way they did and acted things.

when I first heard this song it took my breath away. And to think that 4 guys came up with the masterpiece.... the guitar on this is just insane. One of those things that cant be replaced in person. Its not the same if you do it live. Albums are much better.

“I’m Mandy, Fly Me” is an enigmatic, melodic, eloquent mix of music and wordplay.
Atmospheric with psychedelic patterns, that leads listeners into a fantasy world accessed through a poster.

When I was nine years old my father bought me a used cassette tape recorder. He bought with a recorded Greek songs cassette. The first thing I did was to record on one of the cassette sides some songs from the radio. The songs were I'm Mandy fly me, Still crazy after all these years, and under my thumb. That was an excellent way to start my musical journey.

    Just like a rolling stone
    I'm outside looking in
But if your chance came would you take it
Where on earth do I begin?
    I'm Mandy fly me
    I've often heard her jingle
    It's never struck a chord
With a smile as bright as sunshine
She called me through the poster
    And welcomed me aboard
She led me she fed me
She read me like a book
But I'm hiding in the small print
    Won't you take another look?
    And take me away
Try me Mandy fly me away
The world was spinning like a ball
And then it wasn't there at all
And as my heart began to fall
I saw her walking on the water
As the sharks were coming for me
I felt Mandy pull me up give me the kiss of life
Just like the girl in Dr. No, No, No, No
Ah when they pulled me from the wreckage
And her body couldn't be found
Was it in my mind it seems
    I had a crazy dream?
    I told them so
But they said no, no, no, no
I found me on a street
    And starin' at a wall
If it hadn't have been for Mandy
    Her promise up above me
Well I wouldn't be here at all
So if you're travellin' in the sky
Don't be surprised if someone said: "Hi"
    I'm Mandy fly me

I myself think this song is best understood as the idea that flight attendants are there for your safety, not trysts in the WC, and is based on airline ads from the late '60s - early '70s (e.g. The Proud Bird With The Golden Tail).

Funny how some songs take you back to very specific moments in the past. I heard this song as I was leaning over the side of the Felixstowe to Europoort ferry running away to Europe with just a few quid in my pocket after I realised the girl I loved had no feelings towards me.
