    Try not to be so hard on yourself, breakage and rougher ends is a normal part of being natural. You can do things to help slow it down but, with dense kinky hair its inevitable. ☺

      @GreenBeautyChannel Can you give a tip on pineappleing the hair if it's short. To support the ends of the hair?

    • @GreenBeauty
      @GreenBeauty  7 лет назад +17

      You don't have to worry 'so much' about your end ends when your hair is short b/c your ends aren't that old yet. Just make sure you wear a satin/silk scarf and to sleep on a satin/silk pillow case

      Does the satin scarf/pillowcase combo help with edges too? I think sleeping on my sides have been killing my edges :/

    Omg I thought it was just me. Two different times i thought my ends were damaged, or left over scab hair that I didn't fully remove from first going natural. Not even a week later, it was like i never trimmed my ends and i was mad at myself for cutting unnecessary inches. I took it as a lessen learned and cut back on how often i trim and just dust my ends instead of chopping it off and i'm finally seeing real growth. Heck, how can you retain length if you cut off all your new growth every other month lol?

    • @TaShar16
      @TaShar16 7 лет назад +6

      She don't trim every month....she dust her ends (weekly I believe) and then trim 1/4 inch (twice a year I think). Dusting your hair is very very very little amounts.... that's like cutting less than the length of your eyebrows each month.

    This was such a helpful video! I use a very heavy butter on the last 2 inches of hair and have noticed a big difference in retention. It took me a minute to realize that my ends were high porosity (the rest is low porosity) and that they needed a little extra love.

    ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ your videos. You are 100% correct about sleeping in satin pillowcase and using a satin scarf to wrap hair...silk is better though!
    As I am aging, I am struggling with my ends as they seem to get straighter and more brittle as my hair grows out. I think it has to do with the fact that I use permanent hair color which which defeats me having natural hair at this point. Maybe this is why some just choose to forego coloring and embrace their grey hair???

    • @GreenBeauty
      @GreenBeauty  3 года назад +1

      Hey 👋🏾, satin is a type of silk. There are different types of silk. Also, you are right the state of your ends is most likely due to the coloring. I personally think grey hair is like nature’s art work. But, you have other options. You can use henna and/or indigo to cover them. Also a lifestyle change, mainly your diet will definitely slow down how fast you’re getting or even reverse it.

    Thanks again for another information I’ve video. This confirms what I’ve thought & also what I’ve read about in The Science of Black Hair. Trim every 3 -4 mos! Beauticians will try to tell you to trim every 6-8 weeks, which I’ve always thought was too often for hair that is lowly manipulated.
    But in the other hand, they say that to avoid having to cut more hair off BEFORE it begins to split up, which also makes sense. It’s like maintenance trimming or what you refer to as “dusting your ends.”
    You have to make sure to go to a hair cutting salon that isn’t scissor happy.

    I use black rice water and BlueMagic Indian Hemp Hair Grease. My hair is thick from roots to ends. I usually dust my ends at least once every two weeks. It reminds me of yours. I do have to texlax every 4 to 5 months for more manageable hair. It looks like yours with a quick relaxer. So, that all per say natural. Is for u young people. I do not have the strength to fight with my hair. Great tutorial. TY

    During my first 2 years natural, I trimmed my hair unnecessarily, thinking it was hair damage - a good 4 inches altogether. And I got realllly discouraged when I found that soon after I trimmed off the rough ends, they were back to being rough! Well, to remedy that, what I do now is I put my leave in conditioner, cream, then oil in my hair as usual whenever I'm about to do a twist out, but when I get towards the end of my twist I coat my ends with more cream and then finish twisting. With this I'm able to finally get defined smooth looking ends that STAY moisturized! I used to have a devil of a time with twist outs that had rough, tangly ends that ruined my whole look. It was so frustrating.

      BijinXOXO omg! My life story😬 I did that once and literally after I cut it, it goes right back to looking and feeling the same. And lately I been thinking about doing another BC but scared that I'm taking away hard working inches for the same problem. I can't retain length, my hair is super frizz, and I hate my ends.

At night I tuck my ends in -- like roll them until they're completely covered -- and gently bobby pin them into place. I also wrap my head with a satin scarf and sleep on a satin pillowcase. (wish I could afford silk) But I have noticed that the rt side of my hair is about an inch longer than my left. Great video!

    I’ve been at this since 8/2011 was my last relaxer. I’ve always done a great job at caring for my own hair . I go to the salon for my color treatments. I am starting to think that being natural isn’t for everyone.

    Super grateful for this channel. I like that you keep it focused on the subject matter & not YOURSELF like so many others. This video was great & very informative. However, my bigger issue is my virgin hair at the roots... my 4b super thick hair is almost unmanageable at the roots. I get that my mid-shaft & ends are more conditioned to the stretching, brushing etc. but how do I get my roots to behave?!?!? is that my roots are simply not moisturized enough. it's hard out here for us 4b beauties... Your guidance & suggestions would be appreciated for the issue I raised. Many blessings to you!

    Very informative and practical video. It opened my eyes -LITERALLY .
    Kindly note :I have never ever trimmed before.
    My fine hair curls (3c/4a low porosity) from the roots ,coils in the middle of the strand (4b)(low porosity) and has kinky ends (4c)(high porosity)which make up almost 60% percent of the length of my hair .
    Must I cut the all kinks off ?
    Must I big chop?

    What if your hair isn't long enough to do the pineapple style?

      Asmaa Kalake right. I actually have shoulder length hair when stretched, but I don't wear it that way. When it's in it's natural state It just look like a thick fro. My solution is just to wear my hair in twist to bed instead of leaving it out to attempt a pineapple. If not I'll look like Don King in the morning.

    Sealing my rough ends with Softee Indian Hemp grease and/or TGIN daily moisturizer really softens them. I’ve also tried Olaplex no. 3 on them the last couple wash days, and I think it’s working to soften them too. The jury is still out on this one though 🤔 I know Olaplex is something you’re supposed to use a couple times each week, so it may take longer for it to work on my hair because my wash days are spaced 2-3 weeks apart.

    So helpful.Think I'm gonna pay more attention to the "elders" @ NappyFu TV and then do treatments and trims.Never did a protein treatment and can't recall the last time I trimmed so got some wrk to do

    It took me years to learn but all that breakage on my ends was why my hair wasn't growing. I moisturize my ends multiple times a week, cut knots that will not untie and trim every season.

    Hey love your teaching videos. I have noticed That my ends were not behaving like the rest of my hair. So I started making a small bantu knot at the ends of my hair. And viola my ends are moisturized and SOFT. I think my ends like company lol sounds funny but before I started doing this ii did not retain all of my length. Now I can see a big difference in the moisture and overall look and textures of my ends. .... thanks again keep umbrella coming!. Be blessed. oh yeah I love love your real protein it's the bomb.com lol

    ♡I was wondering if you could please do a video on breakage at the crown area, if you already haven't. I've had problems with mine's since I was a teenager, I'm 26 now. Or if you could just give me some tips that would great.♡
