Honestly you develop a different personality almost when you speak another language, your voice absolutely has to change when you speak different languages!! I kinda feel shy about it honestly like I’m making fun of the people who speak the language, but I know its the right thing to do if you want to be understood
Ok i thought i was the only person that noticed this. My voice changes ever so slightly when speaking english versus french and it sounds weird going back and forth sometimes.
As a Korean, i can tell her korean is extremely fluent..including pronunciation.. I can’t imagine how hard she works to achieve that fluency 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Great video!!
Same with French: She still has enough of an accent to feel that she's not a native speaker but she doesn't make most grammar mistakes most foreigner (and most french speakers as well to be honest) make and the way she pronounces her EUHs is incredibly spot on, it's the most parisian sounding euh I've heard in my entire life^^ EDIT: I'm Belgian so I'm used to hearring Flemish people speak french and I was expecting her as an Afikaans speaker to have some type of Dutch-like accent but she sounds vaguely Russian to me
Lindie Botes HOW DO YOU LEARN LANGUAGES ESPECIALLY "CONNECTOR" WORDS LIKE IN, THE, AT ETC HOW DO YOU ASSOCIATE WORDS WITH THINGS THAT ARE SAID PLS RESPOND
you can just look up words that are "connector" words. Every language has them and they are an essential part to sounding like a natural speaker if you want to learn it properly. I don't speak any japanese but I always her the word "ano" and figured it was a "connector" word. In english there is so, anyway, um, uh, as i was saying, by the way, etc. and in french there is euh, mais, alors, si, genre, en tout cas, quand même, d'abord, soit, ou, etc.
Melissa Schmitz that's what i do for english! You simply have to associate concepts and images to words and speaking just comes naturally after some practice!
It's not hard but it ain't easy to learn another language. I'm bilingual and currently in the process of studying Korean. Learning is like a hobby. You need to have passion and dedication. It makes it more fun and less of a pain to study. Spend whatever amount of time you think fit to study that certain language. You don't have to study every day, but you need to keep your schedule consistent. Don't give up and keep learning. Language isn't just a language, it's culture. The way you speak, your tone and expression are a part of that language. You learn how to behave in that certain culture and new things. Always ask for help from others and be open minded. You'll be able to speak, write and listen to a language fast. Edit: I'm also planning to study abroad in Korea. It'll be a challenge and really out of my comfort zone. But I know I won't regret making this decision later on.
I forgot all of my German when I was in the US for a bit during an exchange year in highschool (it had been declining before that as well, cause all my freetime was english books/movies/internet etc and then it moved to thinking/ dreaming in english as well. When I was in the US i could not use German. (Passively understanding was fine of course) I once had to write an email for example. I couldn't remember the simplest words. After 30 min staring at the screen I wrote it in English and put it through a translator. I also couldn't talk to my little sister for example, cause she didn't speak English yet. My german was completely gone and after returning to Germany it took me a few months to become reasonably fluent again. But since I still mainly think in English my German is a bit weird nowadays and I quite often don't know words. And thats just 2 languages xD (I needed a second foreign language for 5 years to qualify for high school graduation, but I took Latin and never paid attention and was always just barely above failing, so that doesn't count.) I am learning Chinese now though... cause I am doing a gap hear teaching English in Kindergarten in China. My Chinese definitely isn't as good as hers. It is good enough to order food...
世紀末救世主 I’m half Japanese and my moms Japanese, I think it sounds pretty good, I did understand what she said so.. I don’t know what you’re talking bout
Yes, it is hard to keep the accent flat. But busan dialect is attractive also :) Try to speak out from short phrases, compare the accent from your teacher, and you’ll catch the point!
I tried learning French by Duolingo bcoz of a lost bet which led me to do my brother's french assignment. Nevertheless I ended up learning French more than my brother 😂
The collection of languages you've learned is really interesting. It doesn't seem too common to find polyglots who have learned so many non-european languages especially like Hindi, Indonesian, Arabic, and Vietnamese. (I love all the languages though) Very cool! You're definitely one of my new favorite polyglots.
OHP77 The commercial resources are even less, so it is more impressive. At least she is a polyglot who will speak in the different languages. Unlike other RUclips polyglots who will say a couple phrases and then the rest of the entire video is in English. There are some suspicious ones to likely frauds, but it is RUclips.
OHP77 hindi belongs to the indo-european family And her Arabic is not that good she's missing a lot but I really appreciate her efforts giving the fact that she speaks lot of Languages
I speak three languages Hindi, English and Telugu. Right now I'm learning Korean and Japanese. As a hindi speaker, I can tell she is good in hindi. Like she is grammatically correct but pronunciation is little bit off like I can understand her but it sounded weird. But great work even I want to achieve her level of fluency in korean and Japanese.
This is really inspiring! I love that you really are not afraid of making mistakes, you just give each language your best shot. It really helps learning languages when you just dive into them without the fear of saying something that may be incorrect. I usually don't feel scared talking in different languages, except for Japanese. Probably because I love that one so much that I want to be perfect at it.. which as a consequence makes me really shy in conversations and holds me back from progressing faster!
I'm a South African and you don't understand how much this inspires me to continue my Language learning after losing most motivation✊ Thank you very much❤️
yea! it's so amazing to watch her, like when she was speaking korean, the way her mouth moved and paused and her expressions were all so korean, it was like a completely different person!
Yes. I have recently become pretty good at speaking Esperanto, and I feel like the way I think is completely changed. I think it probably does, because the grammar is different and I have more words that I can form using suffixes and affixes. I love Esperanto :) Such a diverse, simple, yet complex, beautiful language.
Gus Johnnson i self studied esperanto 4 yrs ago..it was easy. But there are no esperanto clubs in my country and my exercises were more of written than speaking. So i lost interest and i couldnt remember half of what i learned. I remember "la pano estas seka" hahaha
Yawinda Rada That's too bad. There is an Esperanto online chat that I've been using(it's on Discord). Because you learned it in the past, it wouldn't be too hard to pick up again. It's a fun language. Also I don't have any clubs anywhere near where I live in the US, which makes it a little harder.
Honestly, whatever language you are using, you are creating certain personality based on the language you used including the way you're saying so it is normal to see this, however it is still amazing!
OHMYGOD you know you're the only foreigner I've ever seen who's THIS fluent in Hindi. You're amazing. Your pronunciation needs a little practice but it completely understandable.
Wow !! omg !! like I am speechless. I thought me speaking 5 languages was a lot and then I watched your video. I know 3 of the languages you used and man .. you sounded perfect in them all !! such an inspiring, smart, beautiful lady.
I dont know if what we call "dialects" here in Singapore count as languages, but if they do I can speak Mandarin Cantonese Hakka English and a little Bahasa Melayu? Currently learning Japanese as well!

I'm really surprised at her Arabic language pronunciation! Most foreigners don't know how to pronounce certain letters in arabic but you seem to be a natural at it!

I really appreciate how she it's clear she isn't just reading a script. She is stumbling over her words a bit just like you do in real conversation and even though she's not perfect at each language, you can tell she has a good understanding of each one enough to get her thoughts across. You haven't lost your French. I know how hard it is to monologue and you seemed like a natural (yes it's clear you're a foreigner but that's normal!). Impressive talent. I've been trying to learn Mandarin and Japanese now for several years and I'm still at beginner/low intermediate, so I know the amount of work you must have put into all those languages! Really a labor of love. Keep up the good work and keep enjoying it!
That's very reassuring, thank you! I think I have all the vocab in my brain somewhere, it just takes a while to "fetch" the word if I'm having a conversation. In reverse, when someone is speaking to you first, it's a lot easier. I must say learning Japanese was not as much as a challenge because its grammar is similar to Korean, but Chinese is and was most certainly tough because of the tones. I'm quite visual so Hanzi, though still tricky, isn't as much a huge mountain for me. Pronunciation on the other hand...!!!
Ouais, c'est vrai que c'est plus facile de lire des textes français que la parler avec des gens. @Lindie Botes j'espère que vous apprenez la langue philippine :) bonne chance à apprendre sa grammaire car c'est tellement difficile XD mais je sais que vous pouvez le faire

Your Korean and Japanese pronunciation are amazing! Indonesian may seem easy at first, but even the natives struggle with it on college-level education because we normally speak our own local language outside of formal settings.
I am Serbian and this is so relatable. Serbian is extremely difficult even for native speakers and you'll never hear a native speaker tell a totally grammatically correct sentence lol. The worst part is that majority of people don't even realize they are making grammar mistakes because they have been speaking that way their whole life and nobody really cares if you make grammar mistakes so I guess that's a plus for foreigners who want to learn Serbian. Also, vocabulary waries a lot from region to region. Sometimes even me, a native speaker can't understand what another native speaker is saying.
If they speak local languages, that probably means their native languages are their local languages, NOT Indonesian, most Indonesians don't speak Indonesian natively
I think what a lot of non-maritime Southeast Asians do not realise (not sure about Malaysia, but definitely true about Indonesia and the Philippines) is that Bahasa Indonesia and Filipino are not languages majority of the population natively speak -- most people in these two countries are native speakers of a local language (as I am, I speak a local language of Sumatra as my native language) and the "national language" is a lingua franca intended to serve as an intermediary language people in the country use to communicate with each other especially when their native languages are so divergent. Add to this that the Indonesian side of my family has not lived in Indonesia in a few generations, and my Bahasa Indonesia functional skill is virtually non-existent: I can understand both written formal and informal Indonesian to a certain extent, but actually speaking it? Udah.
I am so happy I found you. You are inspiring me to keep learning my languages what I also consider ad my hobby. I am Polish learning Korean, German, and Spanish. Good luck to you with everything and keep the videos coming!
I'm Catalan-Spanish, and I speak also English since I started school. I'm learning French and Korean, and I love languages... I want to start with Japanese and Chinese too, but that will be in a future~ 😄
@Tara Saran It's not closely related to European languages so there is nothing wrong with saying it's exotic. Exotic's definition - "originating in or characteristic of a distant foreign country". Sounds to me like exotic was the perfect word to use as a westerner.
I think that it is so cool that you know more “asian” languages because many people lean towards European languages or south/Central American languages! You are truly unique!
You should definitely try Spanish! One of the most wide-spoken languages and it gives you a break from pronunciation! Similar to English and French (more so French), in many ways however it is easier than both of those languages.
also because east asian language is totally different compare with european languages, i mean for europeans, if you speak italian, spainish, french doesnt make much sense but if you are fluent at one east asian language, it would be mind blowing and useful in your bussiness career
Your ten languages should count as 30 since you seem to be completely avoiding languages from the same language families. And you seem to bring all of them to a very decent level. I'm just starting my language learning journey and please allow me to pick you as an example and an inspiration :)
I am very impressed by you, not just because of your knowledge but you have very good pronunciation in most of your asian languages. Which normally foreigners have a hard time getting rid of their mother tongue influence. Hope to see you one day and try to converse with you in your various languages!

Her depth and breath of languages is astounding. Most polyglots I see are like English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, German. Well which languages you see as those "languages" you're talking about and which ones you see as more niche languages that are more appreciated by people who are interested in different cultures depends on what environment you're coming from. I think if you listen to some of her life story that she shared on RUclips it sounds like she learned languages like Indonesian and Vietnamese because those were the "languages" that you were talking about to her. Though, I could be wrong, and as you said every one of these people are impressive.

Same I’m still trying to learn Korean. Can someone help me? 제발 🙏
Foothills NZ same I’m amazed
After learning this much languages I would forget my original language 😂😂
lol
And thats just 2 languages xD (I needed a second foreign language for 5 years to qualify for high school graduation, but I took Latin and never paid attention and was always just barely above failing, so that doesn't count.)
I am learning Chinese now though... cause I am doing a gap hear teaching English in Kindergarten in China. My Chinese definitely isn't as good as hers. It is good enough to order food...
Actually, that happens to me and I only speak three languages and a half 😂😂
Hahaha lol

The collection of languages you've learned is really interesting. It doesn't seem too common to find polyglots who have learned so many non-european languages especially like Hindi, Indonesian, Arabic, and Vietnamese. (I love all the languages though)
Very cool!

That's very reassuring, thank you! I think I have all the vocab in my brain somewhere, it just takes a while to "fetch" the word if I'm having a conversation. In reverse, when someone is speaking to you first, it's a lot easier.
Good luck to you with everything and keep the videos coming!

love how you aren't so european centric and learnt so many asian languages!!

I think that it is so cool that you know more “asian” languages because many people lean towards European languages or south/Central American languages! You are truly unique!
Thanks! Recently I started with Hungarian and Norwegian though :D
You should definitely try Spanish! One of the most wide-spoken languages and it gives you a break from pronunciation! Similar to English and French (more so French), in many ways however it is easier than both of those languages.

How can one get such fluency and perfectness at the same time .
You are AMAZING.
Best wishes from India.
All types of videos Hello. I just wanted to tell you today that you are deeply loved by god. Jesus personally died for YOU because you were/are valuable in his eyes. God created you for a reason! Not to be sad, depressed or sinning. If youve tried thing doing things to cure/ease the pain and it hasn’t, I encourage you today, try Jesus! He loves you and he cares for you, he wants you to be happy! Cry out to god because he listens. Have a blessed day
Thank you so much for making these videos and sharing your passion for languages! You are so inspiring and make me have hope for learning foreign languages despite what others may say! I am currently trying to improve my proficiency level in Spanish and am learning Mandarin. I only discovered my love for languages a year ago, so I feel like I'm trying to make up for lost time but I have dreams of learning Korean, Japanese, French and more as well... we shall see how that goes! 谢谢!
Very inspirational video, thank you. Keep up the good work! Lots of love from Ireland

It's so wonderful to see how much progress you've made from your last polyglot video! It makes me really motivated to study and improve my languages as well! I actually started learning Korean after watching one of your videos, thinking it was a really beautiful language. I'm currently an exchange student in Japan, hoping my Japanese will improve as well.
Thanks for making such inspiring videos! :)

This was amazing from start to finish! I love how when you switch languages, your accent and your tone naturally changes as well. Really inspiring!
Wow, your Korean is super good. Your grammar is 👌👌👌👌👌👌.
엄청난 재능에 감동받았어요^^*🙏😍
Junsoo Ahn 재능이란 말은 노력한자를 깍아내리는 말입니다
이런곳에서는 많이 노력한게 보인다는말이 어울릴꺼 같네요
❤❤❤

재능이아니라 능력이라고 하면 딱맞을듯!
Lily Brown omg me too❤❤
It's been a while since I stop by your channel last time. I am so impressed to know that your Japanese and Chinese have been improved much. I'm a native Korean with a working knowledge of English, Japanese, Chinese, and studied a bit on Bahasa Indonesia, Vietnamese, and French. So, I caught a glimpse of your fluency level in those languages, which I realized was already good and still became better. You gave me a real challenge, driving me to start learning those languages again. Thanks.
What languages do I speak?(ranked by fluency)
-Japanese
-English
-Korean
-German
-Russian
-Serbian
-Bulgarian
I wanna learn:
-Vietnamese
-Cantonese
-Spanish
(This is a old asf comment, so I'm just adding on Nahuatl and Inuktitut since I speak those with my parents, however idk their grammar, and I mostly understand them rather then speaking them(my parents say something in inuktitut/nahuatl and I respond in english or Japanese) so yeah-)
(......Wait does that imply Actually Stephen can speak Cantonese?)
@@PickledJar.
(Yes, I'm pretty sure he's chinese and lives in the part of Canada that speaks Cantonese, not 100% sure though.)
@@面白いね-s8f Oh wow I had no idea, thats cool

Hello! Wow it's amazing that you speak Serbian. I am from Serbia and Serbian is my native language. I am bilingual and I speak Serbian and English. I am studying Spanish right now. I would like to be a polyglot one day because there are so many languages and cultures that I love. For example I've always wanted to speak and understand Korean due to my love for kdramas lol
As a Chinese speaker I’m very impressed with your chinese! Although it’s pretty obvious that you’re a foreigner bc of the tones that were a little bit off, it’s still so amazing that you were able to learn this much! Keep going!
う…うまい!!!
To be honest I didn’t expect you would speak this natural Japanese before I actually watch this video. You’re so inspiring, I admire you.
This shows an amazing talent for language acquisition. Surely you've also put in a lot of work to have learned such a diverse set of languages. Keep it up!
Your Korean just naturally flows with use of congruent connectors and very well mastered pronunciation and intonation. Very impressive!
Wow, Lindie! I just found your profile and I must say that you are amazing! I also love languages and have a special interest right now for Afrikaans, which I am teaching myself (my thesis consists of a study of Afrikaans history as well). I lived in Cape Town for a while but was sadly unable to learn any Afrikaans (except for a couple of words). Anyway, if you are ever interested in learning Spanish (which is my mother tongue) I'd be more than happy to help! :)
I'm must say that ur pronunciation of your words were excellent and also thanks for representing us south Africans🇿🇦 u did great ❤
As an Indian ,I want to tell you बहुत अच्छी हिंदी बोली आपने( you speak very well hindi) cute prounciation 😊

@@KarenVanessaBuitrago depends on you I would say. If you pick up fast, then you can become fluent in Hindi in more or less than 6 months
Hi Lindie, I'm Vietnamese and I'm really amazed by your language skills! Your Vietnamese is really good although the pronunciation could be improved to sound more smoothly "native" (which is very normal and of course difficult for foreigners because of the tone marks) but you've done it so well. Now is already 2020 so I believe you've amazingly improved it and also other languages. Lindie cố lên, chúc Lindie master nhiều thứ tiếng và mong một ngày Lindie sẽ ghé thăm Việt Nam nhé!
Linda speak Vietnamese so good like pro
YOU ARE SO CUTE AND BEAUTIFUL AND SMART!
This video was so overwhelming for me, you're now my role model.
I started a couple of weeks ago to learn Portuguese. I already know English and my mother language is Romanian. I also know a LITTLE bit of French but just the basics you know..
Thank you for this video, I subbed
Aww you are amazing! That's my dream too to learn different languages! 💕
Wow I'm so jealous of you! You are really good at speaking many different languages. :) I wish I could speak several languages like you! Your video inspires me to keep studying. I'm recently studying Vietnamese! Thank you! :)
I speak 6 languages at the age of six
And I want to learn more languages, you have motivated me
Thank you for your video 🙏
Wow girl keep going !!!! Mashallaa ❤️
와우~~ 한국말은 너무 자연스럽네요. 그정도면 한국생활하는데 전혀 문제가 없을것 같네요.
You are soooooo cool!!! My home language is Mandarine, and I’m from Taiwan. Even though you still have a little bit of mistakes, I still fully understand without subtitles. Great job!
I’m learning French and Japanese right now.
Thank you! I just came back from Taiwan and I had a wonderful time!
한국말 진짜 잘한다,...
맞아요! 신기해요!!

Killer.rapper BabyPatty what do you mean by that? Like how she says it or
@@mqchi_thetic3636 She is just not a native speaker of Korean so that's normal. I also speak Korean but of course I dont sound totally natural because it's my second language. When you don't live in a country it's hard to sound like a native because there are many sounds we make and expressions we use that you can't learn in a book.
Sincerely Cinta ok cool so you learn those expressions of u lived there or
She:( speaking french like a pro and )"I have little difficulty in convo with french people "
Me: "bonjour"..I can speak french
😆
Actually she made some small errors on a basic lvl in what she said, but that's fair enough, considering that at that time she hadn't really been using the language for some time, from what she said. And by saying that she has this little difficulty having conversations with French people, she might've meant strictly understanding what they say to her. 'Cause idk about her,but for me French is still very difficult to understand when it's spoken at a faster/regular-ish pace and I don't need to have my mind occupied with half as many languages as she does
@@Riot076 moi aussi ! MDR
I've got no problem in reading and writing; but when it comes to listening, I have a really hard time trying to keep up with their pace. And then there's their contractions, I don't get their contractions half the time and they're doing it so often. Also, I seem to struggle with indentifying the boundary between two words hence I'm entirely lost for a couple of words when that happens. Guess it'll come with practice.
