After learning every human language, she starts making videos on languages that we have never seen before, and the UN starts taking a particular interest in this, because these languages shouldn't be available to the public. Fanfiction brain took over for a minute
Trust me, you just have to find something you're keenly interested in and that you find valuable in your life. That's the only reason why anyone is productive or accomplishes great things: they saw it to be beneficial and interesting enough to put hard work towards it.
Here is a good advice in learning the languages: Learn them one by one, and when you go to the next one, learn it in the most recent language you learned. (for example you learned Spanish and have plans on learning French, learn French in Spanish) happy studies.
I actually just started to learn French and even when people said that is more easy if you learn it from Spanish (my first lenguange) I noticed there's a lot more resources to learn it in English
It is true that there are more resources in English, but I just personally think that it is better to learn newer languages through the recent languages, because it helps you in both languages, the one that you are learning, and the one you have learned in making it stay in your head while also learning a new language, besides it could be a fun challenge.
This is a really good advice. I'm a native spanish speaker trying to learn japanese with english resources. I must say it's helping me build the confidence to start using english actively instead of just reading/listening.

@@LeMondedeCarla04 Hi😊 Unfortunatley can't recommend you anything. I learned the language at the same time with my mother language. Also I live in Russia so it was easy for me than. The only thing I can recommend is to listen to russian-speaking people. Cuz writing and daily speech are very different.
Well ,she also has the money to learn all of those laungages. I checked lingoda, and to gave private 1/1 instructions like she had for Spanish is more than 200 eur/month. Anyway, she is really encouraging.
When I was 7 years old I had the goal/dream to learn 14 languages, now I'm 21 and only speak 4 languages. I hope to learn the 10 remaining languages, this video really inspired me because I kinda gave up on learning new languages. Learning a language was so much easier for me as a child, now I'm scared of messing up.
That is so cute! But don't be scared, that is not something someone is forcing you to do, you do it for yourself so feel free to do it on your own terms. :) When I was like 4/5 I had a dream of four languages and additional two. I never thought much about it until I was about 17/18 and realized I've learned two of them. I then got excited to learn the other two as well. However, in the few following years I got to knoe about more languaged and cultures and fell inlove with two other languaged which are not part of the dream. So now idk if I'll ever learn the original two to a very good level, maybe I'll only dabble in them. But! *I don't feel bad about it. ^^* It's my dream so I changed it to my preference. Life can take us in different directions.
Don't be scared! You can just learn for yourself and enjoy reading stuff, listening to music and watching movies in your new language. If you do mess up, nobody will be any the wiser, and you'll gradually improve if you stick with it. And if you choose to try out your new knowledge on native speakers, which I recommend, you don't need to worry. They'll be extremely appreciative of your efforts and they won't judge you for messing up. You'll get compliments and looks of surprise, not criticism, even if you are far from perfect. Go for it! Also, if you decide to take the leap, and write up a schedule and all that, don't be too hard on yourself if life gets in the way and you fall behind. Keep marchin' on, slow progress is better than no progress!
@@EmperorsReview ok then :) I practically grew up bilingual in Romanian and Hungarian, to which I later added English, French and Italian. Out of the three, I rate my English as very good, the other two are somewhat weaker but still good enough. I also understand written Spanish to the point of being able to read and enjoy a novel without much effort, but spoken Spanish is a bit trickier... But I can carry out a basic conversation. I also know a little German, but I should brush up on it - it's only good enough for going shopping or asking for directions if lost. During last year I added Turkish to the bunch, and while it's still very much a work in progress, I can now follow a movie or TV series without subtitles, and I have been able to hold conversations with people in Turkey when I went on holiday there this summer. By no means perfect, but I got no flak for my mistakes, and this experience is what makes me say you should just go for it and learn the language you want to learn without worrying about mistakes. I feel even the tiniest amount of knowledge goes a long way and opens up new worlds. Plus, that little glow of satisfaction you get when you are able to communicate with others in your new language is just priceless, in my opinion! I actually am rather shy and I have a bit of a fear of failure too, so I understand these feelings, but I've luckily reached the point where I know it's better to just embrace the messiness of it and dive right in without worrying too much - the more you practice a language the better you eventually get at it. Even if you're no longer that young, you shouldn't let your age put you off :)

Maybe it all comes down to experience and knowing a few languages already? I only know 2 languages atm and my goals for 2020 will be to learn one more. I don't think it'd be realistic for me to learn 4 in that year for example, but I'm hoping that for 2021, I'll be able to learn 2 or 3 rather than just 1 :)
Lots of free time on her hands, I suppose. I mean, good for her, but even if I had every single hour of the day on my disposal I wouldn't try studying 12 languages...
I was thinking about what I wrote. A better answer would be: she has a lot of time on her hands AND she really wants to learn all these languages, so she's using all that time doing something she loves doing. My intention was not to "roast" Lindie or anything... Sorry if it sounded like that. In fact, I admire this will of learning all those languages.
She's been studying for around 10 years every day for at least an hour or two often more. It's achievable, especially as she's living in a country where she has to speak four of the languages on her list week to week.
I’m being a little more realistic with my languages and giving myself a year to learn each one of them and become fluent. Hopefully I can master French Spanish German Russian Mandarin

How can someone learn so many languages at the same time? I have been focused on Japanese and passing N3. I tried learning other languages but whenever I try to learn other languages it takes up so much of time or it makes my Japanese level go down. It's really hard for me not to mix up languages and balance time with it because just one language alone is a lot of work. I wonder how someone does that
Focus on one. It's better to have an intensive period of learning only one language. Master it to the level you can communicate and understand at least every day conversations. Then add a new language. Really, there is no point in learning many languages at once especially when you have no opportunity to use them.
@@desakputurakaparamita954 Interesting. And what's the result? You don't feel like you could have made faster progress in one language, if you had focused only on learning one for some time?
@@pinkvalentino I think so too. The progress is depend, it's mostly effective if you had a lot of holiday and spare time. The result is I mastered one of the language faster than the other, of course. It's all about learning capability....
Hi, Lindie. You seem to be one of the first to come up with an annual plan for 2020. This weekend, I'll move out of my parents' house (Dad died in 2002 and Mom last month) and into an apartment by myself (actually the basement of a stranger's home). My plan is to have different language courses in different locations in the apartment, and what I study will be based on where I am at the time. I have several MP3 players because I prefer to use audio programs (Innovative Language podcasts, Michel Thomas, Glossika, etc.) and I'm now in the process of choosing which language and course to put on which MP3 player and where to put it in my home (one beside my bed, one on the couch, etc.), as well as which languages I'll study by book (intermediate Japanese textbooks for reading practice) or via computer (Language Boost courses created by polyglots Jan van der Aa and Lucas Bighetti). I'm tentatively planning this winter to focus on Japanese (mostly reading/kanji), French (mostly listening), and Russian (mastering the basics/high beginner level)--however, I might still change my mind on which languages. I had a good Add1Challenge experience with German this year, so I might add German or substitute Russian with German. Also, I've tried to learn Mandarin Chinese, but so far it's my most difficult language, and I don't know if I want to continue it. Best wishes on your goals and languages! Thanks for the video.
Yeah, it's so hard to find that balance of pushing yourself but also going easy on yourself when you take on too much. Also, trying to focus on the languages you already know and make them REALLY GOOD, this is what I struggle with. I know that I should spend 2020 just honing French and Swedish, but I doubt I'll be able to resist starting a new one by, say, June haha. Good luck with your goals!
I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. May God be your comfort in this transitional period! What a wonderful and unique idea you have about the language courses in different locations! That's almost like creating an immersive zone for each! Super cool. And I know what you mean about Mandarin. The struggle is real. Good luck for 2020!!

Hello! I am a Malay and I am really proud that you are going to learn my language. Fyi, Malay language can be written in Latin script (Rumi) and also Arabic script (Jawi). Jawi however is not really being used but it is a part of our precious history and most of the students in schools still learn it. You can learn it too! 😉
My goals for 2020: French, German, Latin, Italian - just maintain through low level practice. I'm not fluent in these but comfortable enough to let them progress slowly. Arabic - add in lots of exposure for listening practice as so far I've focussed only on reading, writing and grammar. Also start branching out from standard Arabic to include a dialect. Japanese and Chinese - focus on reading and writing to improve my memory for the characters rather than just speaking and listening. Korean - work through a few textbooks to make sure my grammar is correct. Keep building my vocabulary. Others - I'm really interested in different writing scripts so, depending on how things go, I would like to learn maybe 2-3 more next year. For everything, I need to work on my confidence in speaking. My tongue turns to lead and brain panics and goes blank. Thank-you for your videos Lindie, you've inspired me to work harder in my language learning and to have the confidence to follow everything I'm interested in when so many people tell me it's too much and too hard. I still call myself monolingual because I'm too nervous to speak but my dream is to one day be confident enough to answer 'yes' when someone asks if I can speak another language.
@@CrisOnTheInternet it varies depending on my other commitments, but between half an hour of active learning on busy days or when I'm too worn out, and 3 or more hours on less busy days. Then in addition to that I have more passive activities in other languages like watching TV, reading books, watching RUclips.
I love how in Arabic you’ll start including a dialect. Because that’s the real experience when you learn standard Arabic and a dialect alongside each other this will allow your Arabic to be as natural as possible. This way you’ll understand other dialects too once you’re comfortable in standard Arabic and a dialect, because you’ll then realise Arabic dialects are more similar than you think, it’s all about the origin which is standard Arabic. Good luckkkk

(for example you learned Spanish and have plans on learning French, learn French in Spanish)
happy studies.
I haven't done this but this sounds like an amazing idea! Please know that I will be trying this!
Good points but at the same time there are just so much more resources learning from English depending on what languages they are
I actually just started to learn French and even when people said that is more easy if you learn it from Spanish (my first lenguange) I noticed there's a lot more resources to learn it in English

Valeria VPV what
When I was 7 years old I had the goal/dream to learn 14 languages, now I'm 21 and only speak 4 languages.
When I was like 4/5 I had a dream of four languages and additional two.
@@EmperorsReview me or Tranquil Lee?
You can do it!

I usually don't watch +10 minutes videos, but for Lindie I could watch a whole hour of them! :D
I don't usually let the commercials run, either; but I let them roll so that Lindie gets something for the upload.

Really, there is no point in learning many languages at once especially when you have no opportunity to use them.
redMonkey the reason I asked is how does Lindie study so many languages? Does she focus on one mostly and the others are just side things?
I once tried, it worked if you like to learn new languages. I learned Japanese, German and Korean at the same time.
@@desakputurakaparamita954 Interesting. And what's the result? You don't feel like you could have made faster progress in one language, if you had focused only on learning one for some time?

Oregon Polyglot oh please, don’t drop Russian. Этот язык будет скучать по тебе)
Chinese is my main language, and the problems most foreigners face is the pronounciation, it’s hard. I wish you the best of luck in learning!

My goals for 2020:
French, German, Latin, Italian - just maintain through low level practice.
How much time do you spend learning languages overall?
@@CrisOnTheInternet it varies depending on my other commitments, but between half an hour of active learning on busy days or when I'm too worn out, and 3 or more hours on less busy days. Then in addition to that I have more passive activities in other languages like watching TV, reading books, watching RUclips.
yassss good luck! ✨

I think you have a lot of passion and that’s great. You have a hobby and that’s cool. Best wishes.
Luckily not all of these languages are at beginner level and I'm learning new ones through other languages. This is what I enjoy and I appreciate your thoughts but I enjoy what I'm doing! @@essennagerry Hello. Aragonese is spoken in the Autonome Community of Aragon, mainly in the North. It is a minoritary language nowadays, but this language appeared in the X century and has a long and rich history. It was spoken in a part of many territories in Spain, like Valencia and Murcia, and it was spoken in the entire Aragon. It counts with a rich literature since medieval ages. For me is VERY USEFUL, as it may be considered a bridge among the other Romance languages. I am a poet in Aragonese and it is the language that I love the most. -I'm adding German just because I love the sound of it but I don't think I'll ever attempt to learn it, it seems incredibly hard (but then again so do the Russian and Japanese).
-I'm also tempted to put Hungarian and Romani (both at conversational level), just because it seems sensible to learn the languages that are spoken most around you but it's already a massive list imo, so these two are in the same don't-think-I'm-actually-going-to-try category as the German (and French ngl).
I didn't watch the video yet but learning 12 languages seems incredible to me, more so if you plan to start learning them all this year?? I'm slowly chipping away at my list, according to the resources I have available to me rn, but I'm not that concerned-I have the rest of my life for it, and if I can add another language at a B2 level, and another one at a conversational level, I'll be happy. :)
