It depends a lot on your method and whether it works for you. After Russian, Japanese, and Korean, I find German relatively (and refreshingly) easy. By listening to beginner material from Deutsche Welle and practicing speaking with Michel Thomas and Language Transfer, then talking to myself in German, and finally practicing conversation with italki tutors, I was able to develop basic conversational skills. Just don't be too concerned with saying everything perfectly correctly: That destroys self-confidence and prevents learners from being able to say anything. Even after many years, I'm shy about speaking French with anyone but a paid tutor because I don't like my pronunciation. I don't have that baggage with all of my languages, fortunately. Here's a method that works for me for speaking skills: I pick a topic, read a list of vocabulary words on that topic, pick a few useful but difficult words to memorize (but not the whole list!), write conversation questions in my target language and how I would answer them, and then practice conversation on that topic with a tutor. Even if those particular questions don't come up in the conversation, I still find it to be good preparation. Memorize corrections from the tutor and practice the same topic with another tutor, then another. Then change topics and start over. After a few rounds with different topics, I start to gain confidence and speaking becomes less difficult. With German (this was last year), I stopped after two topics and switched to a different language. If I had continued this way, I'd be speaking at a solid intermediate level by now. I'm sure there are other good methods out there that accomplish the same thing. Through trial and error and/or combining different methods and resources, you'll find your path. Now, as far as progress,In as little as two weeks, since I've started RElearning Korean, I've learned over 20 korean verbs and 20 short phrases, thanks to TTMIK. My ability to retain information, the second time around, has improved alot. (With ALL LANGUAGES) I was PETRIFIED to learn more than one Language at once until I discovered Lindie And Steven, and many more, on RUclips. Their progress has been very motivational and each of them has spent YEARS on some languages. I think Lindie said she's been learning Korean for about 10 years, in total. MY ADVICE IS: 1. Push pass fear. 2. Develop a study plan 3. Start small if it'll ease your anxiety. 5 words each Language a a day/a week and etc 4. Don't beat yourself if you forget it, just review it again 🤷🏾♀️ It'll eventually stick. Just like how we have to tell Children something more than once sometimes, until it's integrated. Anyway, I think it is possible to juggle many Languages you just have to stick with it. Ok. I'm done. 😂 It's getting pretty lengthy.😂😂😂 ✊🏾🖤💜 #Study Smarter Not Harder😁
Here is a tip from the MyLangs RUclips channel: 'When you get to the advanced pojnt of a language, it would be very hard to forget.' And remember this, (a tip from me:) Immersion is very important. And think of how long it took you to learn your native language from birth. You were immersed and surrounded by the language, weren't you? And it took about a few years to talk more fluidly, right? Mhm!😊☺
Yes Some kids speak REALLY WELL by age TWO.😬 As if they are FOUR OR FIVE. With other kids they don't speak alot until around age four but they understand Alot. So, I kinda Imagine that as adults, we could cut those times in half because we have already learned ONE Language. (Native)
Your videos have helped me a lot in learning a language. And I’m really thankful for all of these great tips and facts about language learning, because I love learning languages but sometimes i didn’t have the knowledge of how to start or where to go when learning a language. And now my goal of being multilingual seems very possible because as of right now I speak Spanish, English, Portuguese and I’m learning French. Thank you so much!
I love the Hungarian update the best. 🇭🇺 It’s really especially interesting and awesome when polyglots learn languages not usually given much love. Nice progress, Lindie! Inspirational as always. 😎👍🏻
I like these update videos a lot! On the one hand they're just super fun and inspiring and I immediately want to dive into my language learning materials after watching them. And on the other hand they are also such an honest reflection of how goals change and focus shifts but it's still possible to enjoy the journey. I have such a hard time not being disappointed with myself when I don't meet my studying expectations (and I guess most of us feel that way), but it's not just about which goals you set January 1st but also about enjoying the actual studying. Why is that so easy to forget sometimes haha. Again, it's so so so inspiring to see your video's no matter how much or how little progress you make in a specific language so please continue making these!
I honestly admire that you can learn so many languages at the same time. For me it's difficult to study more than one at a time, but lately I've been mostly learning Korean and somewhat passively maintaining Spanish. I feel a bit frustrated that I lost so much of my Spanish and Finnish skills. It would be easier for me to practice Spanish on a regular basis considering I have friends that are native speakers, but Finnish isn't that easily accessible. I already find it confusing to think or speak at times because I keep forgetting words in all languages, including my native one. 😂 Je pense que le français est surtout difficile pour l'écriture car contrairement à l'espagnol, on ne prononce pas toutes les lettres. Bon courage!
It's not easy! I also struggle with motivation, mixing languages and making mistakes. But it's a fun journey! Good luck with your Finnish, that sounds so difficult!!
@@user-ik9pk4gg7q Moi Anni! Olin vaihto-oppilanas Suomessa vain 12 vuotta sitten! I used to be at an intermediate level with Finnish language but I struggle to remember words. '-the second one sounds less natural, 'my hungarian days' doesn't translate really well to hungarian, but we still understand what you meant here, it's not a big mistake :) the first sentence, however is perfect, you can just say that instead. I hope this helps :)
I'm so glad you're prioritizing Vietnamese! I'm totally enchanted with it. I have the same book of Vietnamese Stories; you can download the audio files from Tuttle's website. It's Northern dialect, which is good for me, but maybe not so good for you. I'm holding off because it's a bit above my level, and I'm working on my conversational vocabulary first. When I need to learn how to say "to prostrate oneself abruptly", I'll go here first. If you want to geek out on Chinese loan words or final particles, the brand new Routledge book "Vietnamese: An Essential Grammar" is a great resource.
I really like how much effort you're putting into learning languages (taking tests, classes online, textbooks, etc). I've seen many "polyglots" on YT who would only like know a few memorized sentences in 10 languages and then later clain to speak 20 languages.
may I ask where you're from out of curiosity? I studied Turkish a bit myself, and having studied korean helped me a lot with the grammar/vocal harmony. I' from France btw ^^ good luck with your learning journey!

Hi, Lindie! So as I'm writing this, I'm a little under 1/2 way through the video and just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to continue my journey of learning Norwegian! Tusen takk 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I am fluent in English and Spanish because of my family and now I recently just started learning Korean on my own, I’ve been studying for almost half a year and i have loved it so much, of corse it has its difficulties but I love it and I’m excited to soon start learning more languages once I am better at Korean, your videos have been one of the things that have kept me motivated and I’ve gotten most of my tips and techniques from you so thank you 🤍🤍
My language goals this year... I've been focusing a lot in Russian, hope to get to a B2+ in a few months, right now I can understand about 90% in movies and youtube videos, and can speak at work, but I really want to get to the upper levels soon. My Japanese is on maintenance mode right now, just seeing movies and reading, but quite frequently. There aren't many Japanese speakers where I live, so I try to keep it as fresh as I can. After I finish with Russian, I'll focus more on Arabic, now I can use it at work, but outside of my work enviroment I am lacking vocabulary, so I hope to get at least to a B1 by the end of the year The rest of my languages are on super low maintenance, I like seeing movies every now and then... Thanks for everything, I like seeing how other language learners use their time ;) I've always tried to keep nice and pretty notes like the ones you have, but I am terrible at it haha

Hi Lindie! Good to see you, you look gorgeous!! you are such an inspiration, currently I am leveling up my spanish then going to take up french or swedish
Love this type of video from you to get a peek behind the veil! This is also really motivating for me - I've been slacking off on my languages the past few weeks! I'm personally at a B2 plateau en español, and keep kicking back and forth between beginner German, Russian, and Uzbek
I'm currently in the middle of the Lingoda super sprint for french(which I was able to sign up for thanks to your reminder back in June). I haven't missed a day yet but my internet didn't work so well on the second day so I missed the first 4-5 minutes, so I'm pretty sure I already lost the refund, haha but so far I'm making good progress and I might be able to move up to the intermediate lessons in a few weeks. Your videos help me to stay motivated and are so helpful, thank you for everything :)
Congratulations on all of your language progress! Can't wait to hear how your scores comes out. I've been focusing my time this year improving my Spanish, Portuguese, and Greek. Greek has been, by far, the most challenging. Still, I've been practicing every day and seeing slow, but steady progress :)

Hi Lindie, thanks for the video! I don't know other languages but as for French I just wanna say that you've improved sooo soo much in your speech since last year! You sound very fluent & natural. I'm so amazed at how fast you learn! You're like 'hey guys, I recently started this language!' and you're already able to speak in it and not only say some typical textbook phrases. I guess it shows that the way you approach language learning is really productive compared to schools or something haha, because I feel like there you're always taught to use set phrases and not to actually express YOURSELF in that language

Lindie Botes and Steven Kauffman, helped me to smooth all of that drama out.😂
I'm also reading this book called, "How to study", so to improve my study methods.
Now, as far as progress,In as little as two weeks, since I've started RElearning Korean, I've learned over 20 korean verbs and 20 short phrases, thanks to TTMIK.
My ability to retain information, the second time around, has improved alot. (With ALL LANGUAGES)
I was PETRIFIED to learn more than one Language at once until I discovered Lindie And Steven, and many more, on RUclips.
Their progress has been very motivational and each of them has spent YEARS on some languages.
I think Lindie said she's been learning Korean for about 10 years, in total.
MY ADVICE IS:
1. Push pass fear.
2. Develop a study plan
3. Start small if it'll ease your anxiety. 5 words each Language a a day/a week and etc
4. Don't beat yourself if you forget it, just review it again 🤷🏾♀️ It'll eventually stick.
Just like how we have to tell Children something more than once sometimes, until it's integrated.
Anyway,
I think it is possible to juggle many Languages you just have to stick with it.
Ok.
I'm done. 😂
It's getting pretty lengthy.😂😂😂

#Study Smarter Not Harder😁
I love that you leave in cuts where you make mistakes. I find it so encouraging :)
Here is a tip from the MyLangs RUclips channel:
'When you get to the advanced pojnt of a language, it would be very hard to forget.'
And remember this, (a tip from me:) Immersion is very important. And think of how long it took you to learn your native language from birth. You were immersed and surrounded by the language, weren't you? And it took about a few years to talk more fluidly, right? Mhm!😊☺
Thanks for the tip!
@@antonio_090 You are welcome! No problem! Take care.
Yes
Some kids speak REALLY WELL by age TWO.😬 As if they are FOUR OR FIVE.
With other kids they don't speak alot until around age four but they understand Alot.
So, I kinda Imagine that as adults, we could cut those times in half because we have already learned ONE Language. (Native)
@@nicoleraheem1195 Ahh! I have no idea what you just said, but you are right.
@@nicoleraheem1195 Oh, I get it! And I agree! We should.
It’s really especially interesting and awesome when polyglots learn languages not usually given much love.
Groeten uit Nederland!
Everytime I feel down about my languages, I watch your videos and get all the inspiration I need. Thank you!
12:38 is literally the most relatable moment out of all the language youtubers I’ve ever watched lmao I luv Lindie such an icon ❤️
@I like beans onceeee ❤️
Je pense que le français est surtout difficile pour l'écriture car contrairement à l'espagnol, on ne prononce pas toutes les lettres. Bon courage!
It's not easy! I also struggle with motivation, mixing languages and making mistakes. But it's a fun journey! Good luck with your Finnish, that sounds so difficult!!
I'm finnish if u want to speak w me!! I'd love to help u cause I know it's really hard
@@user-ik9pk4gg7q Moi Anni! Olin vaihto-oppilanas Suomessa vain 12 vuotta sitten!
I used to be at an intermediate level with Finnish language but I struggle to remember words. I still understand well when I read or listen but speaking is just 🥴
I recently watched season 2 of Sorjonen and apart from the technical terms related to investigation/police work I could understand fairly well what was going on.

I speak Portuguese and I was able to understand quite well your Spanish!! Great work!!
Loved hearing you speaking hungarian! It warms my heart when I see foreigners learning this extremely difficult, but beautiful language. I'm also happy to see that you loved Testről és lélekről! You might also like Liza a rókatündér (Lisa the Fox-Fairy) Here's a correction for the hungarian part: 'Hétfőn és csütörtökön csak magyarul tanulok.' 'Hétfő és csütörtök az én magyar-tanulós napom/napjaim. '-the second one sounds less natural, 'my hungarian days' doesn't translate really well to hungarian, but we still understand what you meant here, it's not a big mistake :) the first sentence, however is perfect, you can just say that instead. I hope this helps :)
Don't know why but hungarian gives me more satisfaction than any other language, even though I am still lousy. Feels like a real achievement
Wow I’m so happy you are interested in learning burmese 🇲🇲 !
Szia Lindie nagyon örülők , hogy az anyanyelvemet tanulód ! Sok sikert továbbra is! 😊💯
Gyönyörű a magyar kiejtésed! ❤️👍👏 Annyira jó hallani, ha valaki a mi anyanyelvünket tanulja és beszéli!
I really like how much effort you're putting into learning languages (taking tests, classes online, textbooks, etc). I've seen many "polyglots" on YT who would only like know a few memorized sentences in 10 languages and then later clain to speak 20 languages.
Actively studying; Uzbek, Russian, Dutch
Maintaining mode: Turkish, Spanish
On and off; Kyrgyz
What resources do you use for Turkish?
may I ask where you're from out of curiosity? I studied Turkish a bit myself, and having studied korean helped me a lot with the grammar/vocal harmony. I' from France btw ^^ good luck with your learning journey!
i was born in the netherlands but i’m turkish so i know both dutch&turkish i wish you lots of luck like they’re both really hard😭😭
Wow those are some unique languages you're studying. I don't know of anyone who's studying Uzbek and Kyrgyz.
I can help with dutch if you need help!
Oh My God! You are even learning Burmese!!!! Thank you! And wish you good luck!!

I love these kinds of videos that you make because I get to cheer for you and get excited on your progress as well as motivate me to continue my own language learning, despite the many struggles 💛💛💛👍🏽 great job!
I'm learning English since December 2019 and I love to practice my listening with your videos!! perhaps I'm binge watching your channel too much because right now I really want to learn Korean (I just know the basic-basic) but anyway just wanna say you're an inspiration to me 💙

Your English is amazing, keep it up! 😊👏
@@ViviZafir thank you so much!!! 💜🥰
This is encouraging--I often read that humans should concentrate on only one language at a time but I'm learning four--two focus languages and two less-of-a-priority-but-just-as-fun languages. And then I'd really like to learn Persian. Thanks for being an inspiration!

Impressionante! Eu consigo entender tudo através do meu português.
Good Luck Lindie on your languages. Your Spanish progress is very good. I am currently learning spanish, arabic, and brushing up on my vietnamese. But really just spanish and arabic because my vietnamese is probably the best out of the three. I hope you can meet your goals. Good luck!
Hi, Lindie! So as I'm writing this, I'm a little under 1/2 way through the video and just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to continue my journey of learning Norwegian!
Tusen takk 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Lindie your Spanish accent it's excellent, so neutral and natural, it's so clear, keep on it! Greetings from Mexico ✨
After I finish with Russian, I'll focus more on Arabic, now I can use it at work, but outside of my work enviroment I am lacking vocabulary, so I hope to get at least to a B1 by the end of the year
The rest of my languages are on super low maintenance, I like seeing movies every now and then...
Thanks for everything, I like seeing how other language learners use their time ;)
I've always tried to keep nice and pretty notes like the ones you have, but I am terrible at it haha
удачи)

Hello from Vietnam. Love to see you here 🥰🥰 and practice Vietnamese together. Ive been watching your channel for a long time and now I’m starting to learning Chinese. Thank you so much so your tips and motivation.
hoy descubrí que un gusto culposo de Lindie es grabar videos.
Congrats! your spanish accent is amazing!
I’ve been learning Spanish since ~April...no words can describe how amazing it was when I turned the subtitles off when you spoke Spanish and I totally understood...it was beautiful 😂
Hi Lindie, thanks for the video! I don't know other languages but as for French I just wanna say that you've improved sooo soo much in your speech since last year! You sound very fluent & natural. It's totally visible that you're spending time with a 'francophone.' You've very blessed to have such a lovely friend who not only talks & hangs out with you but also dedicates her time to correct your writings
Yeah, Vietnamese has diacritics so the pronunciation is kinda hard. But I think you can do it cause you've learned a lot and you're super talented. Fighting, Lindie !! 😊💜
P/S : I'm super happy that you decided to learn Vietnamese. Your videos are very inspiring and motivate me to learn new languages.
I am from India and still learning Korean. Very thankyou for inspiring me.
Seeing burmese in a video get me so excited 🥺🥺🥺
Guys if anyone here needs help with Hindi, you can ask me questions by replying to my comment. You're welcome.
And yes, in India, the script is drilled into our brain so the best way to study it is by writing it again and again.
And we have different letters for *sh* but they all sound the same. But don't switch the letters while writing anything.
Good luck!!
“Perdón por el spanglish” it’s quite a good podcast, it’s not about learning languages but it can help you with your Spanish pronunciation.
