Guys, English is the easiest language to learn on the freaking planet. It is one of the main reasons for why English is the global language for communication. However, the importance of English is due to the development of the British Empire.
Ah, but French is the elusive prize. No matter how correct your French becomes, there is always some grammar you haven’t quite mastered, usage you haven’t yet grasped, or some more clever way of saying something. A ear to learn, a lifetime to master.

@@LauraMaliszewska Btw I'm a native French speaker and your French is very good in terms of vocab and pronunciation. My recommendation is that you work on prosody, avoiding to stress the first syllable of words (because otherwise it sounds like you are insisting on something) and make it more expressive. You can also try to use a less "written" register of speech ("c'est pourquoi" is hardly ever heard orally). Continue comme ça ! ;)

@@Livoirienyvoitrien The hypothesis of linguistic relativity, part of relativism, also known as the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis /səˌpɪər ˈhwɔːrf/, the Whorf hypothesis, or Whorfianism is a principle claiming that the structure of a language affects its speakers' world view or cognition, and thus people's perceptions are relative to their spoken language. The principle is often defined in one of two versions: the strong hypothesis, which was held by some of the early linguists before World War II,[1] and the weak hypothesis, mostly held by some of the modern linguists.[1] The strong version says that language determines thought and that linguistic categories limit and determine cognitive categories. The weak version says that linguistic categories and usage only influence thought and decisions. The principle had been accepted and then abandoned by linguists during the early 20th century following the changing perceptions of social acceptance for the other especially after World War II.[1] The origin of formulated arguments against the acceptance of linguistic relativity is attributed to Noam Chomsky.[1] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linguistic_relativity

I am in the 7 Grade now.I am learning French in school and I love french but it is really hard to speak. So I agree with you.I love learning languages in general. PS:Sorry if I have some mistakes 😅
Cross Wolf lol French isn’t hard at all for me. I live in Belgium, Flanders (the Dutch part of Belgium) and it’s actually easier for us to learn French than Wallonians (Francophones) learning Dutch.
I can speak 3 languages fluently: Russian, English & French. Russian is my first language, I learned English from school when I moved to Canada when I was six, and I started learning French in my Canadian school when I was 6, but I wasn't really good. In grade 7 I started taking lessons with a tutor from France and I watched a lot of movies, shows and listened to french music during summer and this year I went to a French school in Canada (but I am still continuing the lessons with my tutor since my french isn't perfect). I also started learning Spanish a month ago, I can speak very little, but I am trying. In the future, I really want to learn German and maybe another language. (I am 14)
Alisson Leandro maybe, but definitely not any time soon, because it’s going to get mixed up with my spanish since they are pretty similar. so if i learn it someday it will be when i am fluent in Spanish, which isn’t happening any time soon.
Victoria it really matters on what kind of stuff u like to watch and on your level. one of the shows I watched in French (with French subtitles) was « Miraculous Ladybug » it’s a kids show that I used to watch in russian on Disney channel when I was younger but it’s actually pretty interesting. The language isn’t too hard and if u don’t understand something u can always just pause it and translate what they said. Also, I am a big Harry Potter fan and I’ve watched all the movies multiple times in English, and I watched them in French. You should really just watch whatever u like, like your favorite movie that u know well or something simple. always watch with subs and if u don’t understand it, pause and translate! hopefully I helped 💗
You're amazing, just as languages are amazing ❤️ I'm Mexican so I speak Spanish, I learned English in middle school, then I started to study French by myself because I've always loved French and now I'm learning German, but I would love to be able to speak and understand a lot of languages🥺
It's about russians, too And I think all foreigners think like that when somebody speaks their language. Probably besides Americans and British people😂😂
Sorry to say that but I am a little disappointed actually. (Because of the clickbait) Is not like you can speak 8 languages. You just speak Polish and English properly and you're also, just able to say basic learnt by heart sentences and random words in other languages or at least you tried to. Know a language or speak a language does mean you are free to communicate and you can be understood and understand easily. I speak Italian Polish and English; that means whenever you talk to me about whatever you want in one of these languages it comes naturally to me to make conversation. NOW: I can write and sing songs in Russian,i can read a newspaper in French and translate it,I can have a small talk in Spanish,I can count to 100 in German, i can swear in Chinese BUT *I DON'T SAY THAT I CAN SPEAK 8 LANGUAGES* (because as I said before I can communicate for real only in 3 of them) SO NEITHER SHOULD YOU. Just because of your credibility if you know what I mean. Beside that, you're nice and funny and also an inspiration to continue to learn and improve.
I didn't read it that way. I took it to mean that she spoke some of the eight languages and understood the rest. If she had written that she speaks eight languages or is fluent in eight languages, then it would be disingenuous.
I speak Hungarian (my native language), English, German, Slovak (I only know the basics, but I'm trying to improve my skills, 'cause my dad is kind of Slovak but doesn't speak the language so I have to learn it alone) and I'm also trying to learn sign language. Along the way I have learned to various degrees Spanish, Russian, Polish, Dutch, Danish, Hebrew, Japanese, Yiddish, and Afrakans. When I teach in the schools I encourage the kids to learn languages other than their own. That can be hard since some have trouble with their native language of English.
Hey, could you make a video explaining how you were able to learn languages on your own? How did you find good books to learn the language? Were you in contact with native speakers? How did you practise writing and speaking, etc?
Orange 2412 I’m in no way a expert but it matters bc if it’s just e without the é then u say the e more deep but if it’s with the é u pronounce it normally
Amelie Xx I’m not gonna say anything bc I’m not French I just have French classes and we still haven’t learned the difference between è and é but if u can teach me that would be great lol
Cupcake Gamer I’m french so that I can explain you the difference between é and è even if it’s really complicated because it’s about the pronunciation. The é it’s like the word « et » or « pied » in french ( I hope you can understand what I try to say bc it isn’t really clear ) nonetheless the è it’s more like when you pronounce the letter R in french. So in a way you both right 😊

I have been going to Italy almost every year since I was really young and my mother speaks fluent Italian so that, plus the fact that it’s so similar to French and Spanish means that I can understand a lot of Italian (like when I go to Italy I understand about 65%/ 70 % of what people say to me without every having studied it). On the other hand I can’t speak it very well at all but I hope to go and study there next year so I should improve a lot hopefully:) I have also been learning Norwegian by myself for a while now so I have an extremely basic understanding of that language but I really really love it and the culture and hope to one day get to a good level:). I have also attempted to learn languages such as Irish (which I actually kept up for quite a while but I have now forgotten almost everything) , Arabic, Hebrew, Dutch, German, Indonesian and Russian when I had a bit of time but unfortunately gave up or had to stop for lack of time after a few weeks... I also have friends from Germany and Indonesia who help me to learn a bit of their language so I have picked up a few random phrases here and there😂. The problem is that I find all languages so interesting and wonderful that I would need to live an infinite number of lifetimes to be able to learn all the ones I want😅🤷♀️.

@@LauraMaliszewska Btw I'm a native French speaker and your French is very good in terms of vocab and pronunciation. We have a living proof of Sapir Whorf Linguists Relativity here
Yes! Seriously wondering!
You cryptics seem to know what I don't?! Would you care to elaborate?
@@Livoirienyvoitrien The hypothesis of linguistic relativity, part of relativism, also known as the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis /səˌpɪər ˈhwɔːrf/, the Whorf hypothesis, or Whorfianism is a principle claiming that the structure of a language affects its speakers' world view or cognition, and thus people's perceptions are relative to their spoken language.
The principle is often defined in one of two versions: the strong hypothesis, which was held by some of the early linguists before World War II,[1] and the weak hypothesis, mostly held by some of the modern linguists.[1]
The strong version says that language determines thought and that linguistic categories limit and determine cognitive categories.
The weak version says that linguistic categories and usage only influence thought and decisions.
The principle had been accepted and then abandoned by linguists during the early 20th century following the changing perceptions of social acceptance for the other especially after World War II.[1] The origin of formulated arguments against the acceptance of linguistic relativity is attributed to Noam Chomsky.[1]

(I am 14)

Would you mind recommending some of the French movies, tv shows, etc that you watched?

Sorry to say that but I am a little disappointed actually. (Because of the clickbait)
Is not like you can speak 8 languages.

Hey,
could you make a video explaining how you were able to learn languages on your own? How did you find good books to learn the language? Were you in contact with native speakers? How did you practise writing and speaking, etc?
You have to improve the French “e” because it’s often pronounced as ö
Orange 2412 I’m in no way a expert but it matters bc if it’s just e without the é then u say the e more deep but if it’s with the é u pronounce it normally
Cupcake Gamer yeah but he/she (idk) did speak of e not è or é (not to be offensive) and what he says is true

Laura you are amazing! Such a talented young woman! Congratulations!
She has a French accent when speaking German. Actually same for putin.
How do you know, are you German?
I think it is because the "r" sound in german is tricky to pronounce correctly. Right now she pronounces it like in french, which is easier for her.

I speak Dutch (native language), English (fluently), French (still learning but I can understand a lot) and Spanish (also still learning). I can read and understand german because I'm Dutch and it's very similar. I really love learning languages and I want to learn more.
I can speak Spanish (native languaje), have a conversational level in Mexican Sign Languaje, English (to connect with the world), and right now Im learning French because Im planning to move to Quebec, Canada. I understood everything in English and almost everything you said in French, and in fact I stumbled upon this channel while trying to improve my French. Loved the content, keep up the good work!

I speak German, as my native language, English French and Spanish and I also want to study linguistics at University next year😇
It would be so cool if you did a video on linguistics and what to do with it after you're done and how it is to actually study it and so on...
Very nice video and keep up the language learning, it's a journey 👌
Fun to 'meet' other linguists/polyglots. I speak English, Spanish, and Catalan. I'm studying Japanese (after two years, only at basic conversational level/reading and writing) and Italian. I'm also considering learning Polish. It's such a beautiful language and it's in high demand in my field. (I'm a professional translator and interpreter.) I'm definitely a language geek too, so I really understood when you said you get "mad at yourself" for not understanding a foreign film. I have the exact same emotional response to that, haha!
Hello! I speak and understand Spanish fairly well and have studied several other languages to varying degrees. I'm curious...how different is Catalán as compared with Spanish?
I can speak 3 languages fluently Polish as my first language (my mom is Polish) , Russian as my second language (my dad is russian) and English since I was born in England as my third language
I’m so happy for you!! I hope you will learn or study more languages like me I learned lots of them in a day for lots
My dad is Polish, and my dads mom is Russian, so I will be learning both languages.
I can speak:

Dutch

I loved this video! I also love languages and find it amazing that you have taken up so many languages mostly from experience. My native language is Spanish (I'm Chilean) and I'm fluent in English (which is my favourite). Also know French though don't feel as confident speaking since I don't do it on a regular basis. All these languages learning are so much fun! Whenever I was in Italy or Portugal they spoke to me in their language and I replied in Spanish and those were the perfect conversations hahaha
Keep doing what you do, you're awesome 💙
These are literally all the languages I would want to learn.
This was a great video! I love languages and I think it's so beautiful when you speak all those languages.
I speak English and I'm actively learning Polish. I studied Spanish and French in school but Polish comes easiest and is my favorite so that's what I've been focusing on for the last three years. Kocham Polskę!!

Your French is really good!☺️ I love it when people want to learn my language! I hope you keep it up! I’m also so impressed that you speak so many others! You really made me want to learn Polish:)
I really recognised myself in this video. I love languages too. I am Bilingual French/English (I was born in France and have lived there and gone to French school all my life, and both my parents are English so we always spoke English (well Frenglish) at home).
I have been learning Spanish at school for over 5 years and my dad speaks fluent Spanish so I picked up a fair amount and can speak (but understand better) quite good Spanish:)
I have been learning Mandarin Chinese for 3 years at school too so I can speak, write and understand the basics in that (although much much less than Spanish).
On the other hand I can’t speak it very well at all but I hope to go and study there next year so I should improve a lot hopefully:)
I have also been learning Norwegian by myself for a while now so I have an extremely basic understanding of that language but I really really love it and the culture and hope to one day get to a good level:).
@Emily Cj It's so nice to hear that you want to learn my native language😉 While i want to learn French😅
Świat Natki it’s true it’s funny that we both want to learn each other’s language😅
