Malaysian English and Singaporean English are almost the same. We used to be one country, and both countries have the same ethnic groups (mainly Malay, Chinese, and Indian). However, there is no single specific accent for the whole country because it depends on the person's social background. Depending on whom we are speaking to, we will adjust our speech to make it easier for the other party to understand.
As Amanda explained, she is Malaysian Chinese but grew up speaking English in her household. So, it's not weird that her accent is not influenced by Chinese. Since American movies and shows are more common here, we actually speak in a more American way than British, even though we learn UK English at school.

It is important to note that the Indian English accent can not be easily stereotyped or generalised . India is linguistically rich and diverse country ,with multiple regions contributing to the overall tapestry of Indian English.India s linguistic diversity is reflected in the various English accents found across its regions .Each area has its own distinct characteristics influenced by the local languages spoken .
The English spoken in southern India often carries influences from Dravidian languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam . The accent might include rolling "r" sounds and specific intonation patterns.
Northeastern India ,with its with its array of languages such as Assamese,Manipuri and various tribal languages ,English here often features softer tones and sometimes a more rhythmic intonation ,influenced by Tibeto Burman linguistic traits.
Northern India, with languages like Hindi , punjabi and Urdu ,tends to have English accents influenced by these languages . Common features include clear enunciation of vowels and certain retroflex sounds.
In Eastern Indian states like Bihar, West bengal and Odisha ,English accents may be influenced by languages like Bhojpuri ,Bengali and odia . This often results in softer consonant sounds and unique stress patterns.
In Western Indian states like Maharastra and Gujarat where Marathi and Gujarati is prevalent ,English accents might include flatter intonation and distinctive pronounciation patterns .
These variations make it challenging to stereotype a single " Indian English accent ", as each region contributes its unique linguistic flavor to the way English is spoken.

      @SadiaIslamShouki 7 месяцев назад +18

Still you can tell who is Indian by their accent 🤷‍♀️ unless they went to international school where they studied in certain curriculum ( British or American)
Not trying to stereotype but Indians do have thick accents in few words, neither it’s American nor British, it’s something Indians modified after speaking English for quite some time ( as your school curriculum mostly in English) like V, W, R etc sounds can be easily detected.

Yes, of course people around the region will certainly sound different. because of their own language but still certain words, they tend to pronounce similarly. Manipur, Nagaland etc people have a different tone (their hindi has this tone as well, because their own language has this tone)
In my country, areas like Chittagong and Sylhet have totally different languages which is quite different from Bangla, so when they talk Bangla, you can guess where they are from, because of their tone, they are pronouncing every Bangla word very clearly and properly yet when they gather all the word in a sentence, you can see the tone, you can differentiate the same tone in their English too. They pronounce most English word as they are( USA/ UK) but when they say a whole sentence you can see their country tonality in it.

No it's not. Have you lived in Bangladesh? Bangladesh people's way of speaking English is almost exactly the same as West Bengal speakers because both are native Bangla speakers & the way they speak their native language affects their pronunciation in other languages.
That's why Bangladesh people tend to say "parsonality" (personality), "parson" (person), "wark" (work), "bard" (bird). It's all about phonetics. Just like how many Mainland Chinese seem to say rad (red), axercise (exercise) & kicks (cakes).

That Bangladeshi girl has a perfect Bangladeshi English accent. We have mixed UK & USA accents. But there is an exception, those who learn English from Indian institutions have more Indian accents. Actual Bangladeshi accent is lot softer than the Indian. Similar to the Pakistani English accent. Moreover, it depends on which country they are living now. In indian accent they don't pronounce “r” but I always do. Most of people in my country pronounce “r”. In Indian accent they strictly avoid r sound. That makes a lot difference in both accents. I don't speak in USA accent but I use lots of common words from USA English. Most of the Bangladeshi University students have accent like her.
Bangladeshi English accent is not definitely Indian accent. When I was kids I always watched people on TV speak in a perfect soft British English like BBC. Later Indian speaking people starts many English medium schools that was chepear option for middle-class people. I think that was the way the Indian accent expands in Bangladesh. Personally, I have seen a few people who have Indian type accent. I would say it's just two percent. As a south Asian English there is a few thing in common but not the same.
(I think the whole India have leant their English from South Indian. It seems to me they speak English in South Indian style. It could be true or not.)
In this video host telling again and again that Bangladeshi girl have South African accent but it's not true either. African accent is way different than South Asian English. African English is faster and has some common expression that we Bangladeshi never use. I think she never heard actual South African accent.
And please guys stop telling fake accent or accent faking. There is no fake accent in this world. English is not our mother tongue. In our whole life we try to learn and adopt as much as we cane. The accent is just a different learning ability for individuals.
Lot of love for the Bangladeshi girl. I love her outfit as well. Soft, decent and beautiful ❤️
