  • Hi :D This palm sugar steamed rice cake (banh bo thot not hap) is a very popular treat in Vietnam and just by following my recipe, you can get a taste of Vietnamese street food at home.
    These cakes are so fluffy and soft and slightly chewy, and the aroma of these which comes from coconut milk and palm sugar is irresistible! Once you try one, you will absolutely one to eat a whole plate of these.

    I would love to
    140gr = how many cups?
    Yeast 3 1/4 = how many tbsp
    Tapioca starch 15gr = how many tsp
    Very hard to understand.

    You should say Rice Flour and Tapioca Flour Mixture Steamed Cake…and We Called that Puto in May Country…but only Rice Flour.

    Total water you poured in didn't match in the video. You added another glass of water since you saw the mixture was thicker than it should (not sure how much because you didn't specify). This is why some people who tried it failed.

      Sorry for the late response. Here's the recipe:
      - Rice flour...140gr
      - Tapioca Starch...15gr
      - Instant yeast 1 1/4 tsp
      - Palm sugar...90-100gr
      - Coconut water/water...150ml
      - Coconut milk...80ml
      - Vanilla extract...1 tsp (optional)
      - Sugar...1 tbsp

      you could just use water and reg cow milk as substitute if you dont want the coconit flavour

    Mình làm 2 lần đều thất bại. Cả 2 lần ủ bột đều ko nở xốp như bạn dù làm kỹ liều lượng và các bước, chỉ khác 1 chỗ là bỏ nước thay vì nước dừa. Ko biết bị thất bại vì lý do gì?! :(

      Bạn chú ý trước khi đổ vào khuôn, mình đổ xong mới cho vào nồi hấp chứ ko làm nóng khuôn trước. Và bạn phải đảm bảo là hỗn hợp bột không chứa quá nhiều bọt khí -> khuấy đều cho bọt khí bể bớt và hoà đều trong hỗn hợp bột trước khi đổ vào khuôn nhé

      Bột khi ủ xong tuỳ vào loại men cũng có thể ko đạt dc độ bông như trong clip, tuy nhiên ko bông dc như vậy vẫn thành công nhé

    This recipe is a total liar, to make the cake that pluffy you must combine yeast and baking powder togerther.

      This recipe doesnt use baking powder. You can try using a different brand of yeast, make sure you proof the batte correctly and don’t heat up the molds beforehand, then the cakes will come out fluffy
