If you don't want to make your domain unnecessarily large to avoid computing unneeded empty space: since your splashes are not very high, you don't have to make the domain that high - it is not necessary to cover the ice cubes completely in their starting position. It does not matter if they start falling from outside the fluid domain.
@@artistsmind The crown splash wasn't my point. In the video he says you have to make sure the domain covers the effector objects, but it is not and so you don't need such a large domain.
Instead of using the Transparent BSDF with the mix shader, you can fix the issue with the material by recalculating the normals of the glass. It looks heaps better too 1. Select the glass. 2. Go to edit mode 3. Select all 4. Choose Mesh>Normals up the top 3. Recalculate outside

Why is the origin point of each ice cube altered every time I play the animation? The cubes go in the glass and vibrate a bit and the origin points of the shapes are just swirling around in the glass. And when I reset the animation the origins are in the bottom of the glass still.
guess this is for intermediate users who know blender, A. non of my short cut keys seem to match the ones in this tut, ( E to extrude does nothing on my computer )so i'm left spending ages trying to figure out where the operations are in menu's, B my layout seems to be different so right away I'm not able to get past 1min 11, as i have no 'Add modifier' to the left. (found it under the Spanner tab in the end) i take full responsibility for this as i've been coming over from Maya and so set my theme to Maya...
I don't know what you have done to your default Blender, but E to extrude is a very basic tool that's used in hundreds of tutorials... of course you have to be in Edit Mode in order to extrude some vertex, edge or face, not in Object Mode (because you cannot select parts of the mesh in Object Mode). And the "Add Modifier" menu (to the right, not the left) is of course under the "Spanner" tab (it's called the "Modifiers" tab for that reason when you hover your mouse over it) and that's where he is in the video. But you do realize there are different tabs you can switch between to get different menus? It seems you should probably learn the use of Blender's interface and basic tools before starting fluid simulations as these physics things are not the easiest to begin with.
If the liquid is falling out, try clicking on the glass(circle .002) and go to physics and enable planar (its under settings of the fluid)

Try increasing the Sampling Substeps to 15 and the Surface Thickness to 0.5. These are settings in the Fluid Physics tab for the Effector object.
thank you so so much@@maxdeighton8851
@@maxdeighton8851 Thank you so much, I had been struggling for an hour before founding your comment. By the way, can I increase Substeps even more? 10 is a limit for me
solve hua kya issue, i'm also stuck there T_T
Why is the origin point of each ice cube altered every time I play the animation? The cubes go in the glass and vibrate a bit and the origin points of the shapes are just swirling around in the glass. And when I reset the animation the origins are in the bottom of the glass still.
11:10 when I hit spacebar the whole fluid leaked out of the glass. What do I do?
Ok I recalculated the normals and it’s fine now
what is your PC Specs
guess this is for intermediate users who know blender, A. non of my short cut keys seem to match the ones in this tut, ( E to extrude does nothing on my computer )so i'm left spending ages trying to figure out where the operations are in menu's, B my layout seems to be different so right away I'm not able to get past 1min 11, as i have no 'Add modifier' to the left.
