Hey for anyone having problems like liquid completely passing through the collision effecter (cup), you for some reason have to set the surface thickness to at least 0.5 for it to work, while the default is set to 0
Ah this worked but this still creates a gap between the liquid and its container that isn't adequately remedied by hiding the original and creating a scaled-down duplicate. Surely there's got to be a better way! :(
For those having issues with the mesh not appearing: Go to the first frame on the timeline, then click the "resolution divisions" field in your fluid domain object, and press enter without changing the value to anything new. Now play the simulation and it should have updated to show the simulation and mesh. The same bug occurs even in Maya's Bifröst simulations. These kinds of bugs MUST be fixed!
hey guys! for those whose fluid is spilling out from the bottom of the cup u can try the following 1. make your cup thicker 2. select your cube, sphere and cup and scale them up at once and try baking at different variations of scales...(u might wanna use replay as the type of cache for this ) 3. change the size of the sphere (try different variations in replay type) 4. change resolution divisions by factors of tens or fives. IF YOU KEEP THE RESOLUTION DIVISIONS SAME YOU WILL HAVE TO CLICK ON THE RESOLUTION DIV. VALUE AND JUST PRESS ENTRE WITHOUT CHANGING FOR MAKING THE CHANGES YOU MADE WORK i guess it will solve the issue if u do this I did the same ...i just kept my res. div. to 5 and thickened my cup and scaled all of the objects up ....then i scales my sphere down... i did all this in replay type
4:48 I found a solution for those, who have fluid simulation and checkbox "mesh" is not working. In the "flow" settings, you switch to active the "initial velocity" checkbox, and you should go in the "flow source" and scroll "surface emission" slider, play with the values, in my case i set "0.00150" and all start to work, i think any value other than 0 will do. So in the "domain" you need to increase the "resolution divisions" from 32 to 64. The mesh will start to disappear, the water will start to flow. The author of the video should explain for possible problems in the process of creating a simulation. And sorry for my bad english, i hope I wrote everything clearly enough. UPD: if this solution dont help you, go to "Cache", set type to all and set checkbox "resumable" to active, and click Bake all
@@marvira also you can change only resolution and cache will clear, cache is the main problem with blender as i found out, its works with all glitches with animation, just change single parameter and cache will reset
Same, I wanna cry. But I ignore de Cube and put Bake botom, start animation and in the end de cube disapear, but only in the frames with animation. Now I have a fluid with move.
I had this same issue. I found that if I went in to Cach, turned it onto module, saved, then went back and turned Cache to 'replay', while doing the modeling, it works. I've seen more than 1 tutorial that doesn't function in 2.92 the way it does for the person doing the tutorial.
completed this a week ago with a coffee cup and went to do it again and couldnt get the technique to work. I finally figured out that I had to add a little thickness to the container so that the normals inside could be flipped the correct way. Thank you for the tut!!!!
Sorry to bother you a year later but im starting fluid simulation and blender in general and im having trubles finding where to add/modify the thickness of the container could you please tell me how to do it 🙏
Awesome tutorial! I hit a brick wall in the middle that had me stuck for a little bit, but I figured it out. If anyone encounters an "Unbaked guides" error above the baking button, there is a checkbox for "Guides" in the just below the "Liquid" checkbox in the Domain options. Just uncheck that "Guides" box, and you should be good to go!
I SPENT AAGGES TRYING TO WORK THIS OUT. I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE. Follow this video. BUT on your cup or w/e go in to the physics tab where you set it to be a effector and in settings set the surface thickness. Set your cache to all/bake and save your simulation should now work. ALSO in my case the mesh didnt disappear until i played the keyframes
I am having the same issue as other here in the comments, at 4:48: With my DOMAIN selected, when i tick the MESH checkbox, my cube does NOT disappear as it does in the tutorial. I therefore cannot see what my INFLOW and the simulation looks like. Only way at this point to follow along with the tutorial is if i am in wireframe view with X-ray turned on
if anyone sees this, if your domain mesh doesn't disappear when you bake it and you don't have any fluids, increase the resolution. it will take longer but it was most likely work. the voxel needs to be smaller than the fluid emitter
@@devannanda8097 Select the domain: in the Physics tab there are Settings in Fluid. Increase the number in Resolution Divisions. In Wireframe view, you can see the voxel size in the corner of the domain so you will have an idea of when it is small enough.
Hey i have been trying to follow your tutorial but when i select mesh on the domian it still stays visible.... I am usin blender 2.93 ..need help with that..
Hey, Cbailyfilm. I always loved making fluid simulations with mantaflow, but there are so many settings you have to mess around with to make it look right. Thank you for this awesome tutorial that explains everything very well.
For anybody who had issues with the liquid showing up or mesh I had success by making sure nothing was intersecting the mesh. I did this tutorial and a different version, ensuring no intersection of my basin (or cup) made baking possible. Once baked, the mesh appears (which means the cube domain disappears). The other comments regarding mesh may be helpful, but I messed around (intersecting domain) and that seems to have been my consistent problem.
A key part of a beginner tutorial is making sure you miss ZERO steps, especially in a software like this where 1 click can make or break the entire project. Just be aware of that, this tutorial is great but it took a LOT of outside googling and comment reading to fix things that weren't covered.
Seriously! I appreciate the help, but showing all your clicks and how you set a few things up would go a long way! No idea how to put that shading node view on while I look at the original. Would be great to learn though.
@@RSL3000 or maybe before going on simulations like this. Be sure that you have watched at least a few videos regarding the UI of blender. A little bit of it might help lol
If the domain cube does not disappear: Check the "Mesh" and set the type in the cache to "All", then press "Bake All" as he does at 5:54. During the bake, you can see the timeline at the bottom of the screen moving. If the bake is completed or if you press the ESC key in the middle of baking, the cube will disappear. If the fluid is not visible: If pressing the spacebar to play the timeline does not reveal the fluid, it may not have been baked. Press "Bake All" as he does at 5:54. The fluid will become visible once the baking is complete or if you bake partway through. If you have hidden the cube by pressing the eyeball icon in the top-right view layer, the fluid will not appear even after the bake is complete, so re-displaying the cube will reveal the fluid.
