Whoever told you all of that doesnt know One Piece, the entire point of One Piece is the journey to find the One Piece, they have been doing that since the beginning, its been the same singular path the whole story but the arcs are made up of the various different islands they come across, throw in some some surprisingly very deep themes, government conspiracies, mysteriously supressed history and prophecies and it becomes an absolutely thrilling and engrossing journey, arguably one of the best ever crafted
Japan certainly agrees. Just went there for vacation and One Piece dominated just about everything. Haha! It is true though; not every fan of a story can properly communicate why a story/franchise/series is so great. It was the fans from Undertale that put me off of the game for so long. Playing it for myself was what made the difference.
Idk who told you that the crew isnt going for the one piece, but we're definitely going for the one piece, baby! The whole journey was sort of this nebulous, "get to the final island" thing, but of course you start to wonder, "how come none of all these insanely strong people get the one piece?" Well, we learned about 300 episodes ago WHY finding the one piece is so hard and how to do it, and we've been inching closer ever since. We are now currently in the final saga, which is going to conclude with the discovery of the one piece!
One Piece is a masterclass at long form storytelling. No they haven't found the One Piece yet but they haven't just been dicking around for 25 years. They've filled all that time with some of the best world building and character writing ever put to page. You really should give the manga a second chance, I think you'd really love it now that you understand what you're in for.
@@camillesharem since you already binge the LA version.. you can start the anime around eps 46ish. that's where arlong park ended i think.. around 45-50
@@camillesharem Honestly though, I'd probably recommend the manga over the anime if pacing was one of your issues. The anime is really inconsistent in how much time it wastes between scene transitions but some of those filler scenes really do a great job of fleshing out the crew's relationship with each other. For example, G-7 is an entire filler arc that I always tell One Piece fans not to skip because of just how sharp the comedy and character writing is in it. It's an extra 13 episodes but it feels genuinely important because of how it strengthens the crew's dynamic.
@@BobtheX Good to know! Thank you for the recommendation. The manga is probably what I will go for first, since I do enjoy sitting down with a good manga.
Your reason for not liking One Piece missed the whole point about what One Piece is really about. Yes the main premise at the beginning is a group of pirates searching for the One Piece, but as you see the story progress you will see alot of forshadowing and clues as to what the One Piece could really be and realize that this adventure is more than searching for the One Piece, they are actaully unravelling the truth behind the very world everyone is living in. A treasure much greater than the typical materialistic treasure we often assume in your typical pirate genre. The story gets better and better and the issues expand to more serious stuff like oppressiom from a tyranny, slavery, racism, war, and relatable social issues. And you chose Bleach over One Piece?... Ok.
Thanks for the comment, but yeah, I chose Bleach over One Piece initially. It clicked with me better. But the live action adaptation did its job to get me interested in the series proper.
@@camillesharem may i ask if you plan on going beyond the live action? i did watch your video until the end but i don't remember if you mentioned that and i just got curious over your reply
@@kyrrasaoy4599 I didn't say at the end of the video. However, reading the comments here and getting some excellent information and encouragement (along with a ton of heckling), I'm thinking of giving the whole series a go. HOWEVER, I will not be consuming filler! I already wasted too much of my life doing that with Bleach...
@@camillesharem got it. and, just a suggestion regarding the filler which everyone will prolly tell you to do too, don't skip the G8 filler. i really don't call it a filler bcs it did a lot for the characters but since everyone calls anime original scenes as fillers, there you go. also, this has become a rule of thumb in one piece, but if by the end of Arlong Park (the same as the one in the live action) and you still don't like it, then maybe one piece isn't really for you. however, since you already know the major story beats until Arlong Park and you're willing to really give it a try, you might want to extend the time you'll invest in one piece up to the end of Alabasta Saga. if you still don't like it, then, yeah, One Piece is prolly not for you. and that's alright, i believe bcs we all have different preferences. i feel like those are story points in one piece that will show you what it is and what it will be so you can decide better if you're really onboard this adventure. forgive me for the long arse reply. i believe that's everything you must know before you dive it. should you decide to make another video on one piece, i'll prolly see you there then. haha. have a good day! ✨
Haters pissing me off, they judge something without actually watching it… or give it a time to see what it is about… I never watching Starwars, and I knew its a beloved show by a lot of people, but I never dissing it because how much popular it is. Cuz I don’t even watch it.
@@sadmanshakib7646 And like Starwars, One Piece exists for many years, how could people hate something that have so much history and beloved by many fans. One Piece is timeless
@@sadmanshakib7646You'd be surprised, actually. Throughout college I asked loads of people, trying to find out more about the story and figure out why I wasn't connecting with it. What I have learned since then through stuff like Undertale is that many fans are not good at really communicating why they love what they do.
I wouldn't be so quick to judge. Should I have listed all the episodes I watched? All the chapters I read? I've had people ask me just how much of stuff I've watched like the Rings of Power before I reviews it. All the episodes... TWICE. Not for One Piece, but I didn't just stop at one episode or one chapter, but I watched, read, researched, questioned, and more. If something doesn't connect with you, such as Star Wars, then that's it. And that is why I was so impressed and made this video. A live action adaptation for a show and story that had not before connected with me got me to reassess.
Whoever was telling you that stuff in the beginning was probably not the best person to ask. Yeah the story is technically going out to find the One Piece but the main point if the story is the journey they go through. And yea, they haven’t found it yet; but they will! Or at least Oda has said they will in the next couple years. I’ve been told by people I was tricked into liking the show by friends and its pretty hurtful when people assume something about something I love. Its an intimidating show, I myself haven’t even watched all of it, but thats fine cause I am enjoying the journey its taking me on
That's what I've been reading here in the comments. It is really about the journey. "Journey before Destination, Radiant." I heard before going to Japan last month that Oda said we're only a third of the way through the whole journey. So, we've got loads to catch up on and loads still to do and see.
@@camillesharembro I want you to watch and finish it then come back and watch this video 😂 I'm pretty sure you'll be laughing for the first 5 minutes of the video 😂😂
@@Mr.white.. Probably not. I'll laugh at myself for not doing a better video, but I communicated the experience I went through. If the story couldn't hook me, then Oda's work and I passed like ships in the night. I went back several times, and it never clicked. Then the fans for years could never give me a good explanation as to why I should read or watch the anime. There's a lot of good stories out there! And since One Piece is so long, you want it to be worth the investment of time. It's like asking someone if going to the Grand Canyon is worth the visit and they can only tell you about the amazing Navajo bread on the North Rim (which is extremely tasty by the way!). As opposed to Bleach which hooked me instantly, One Piece did not, and without good guides or boosters for the series, it didn't come as worth the read or watch. And you'll be shocked how many people are in that same boat! For many, the Netflix adaptation has them reconsidering and giving the series a try. And it's become even more fascinating the abuses that One Piece fans have then been heaping on the newcomers, as if they have to pay their dues. At the end of the day, it's a credit to the story itself that I am going back to One Piece and not writing it off yet again. It hasn't been a humorous adventure so much as a murky wadding through fan reactions and personal experiences. It was the same way when I started getting into game of Thrones and Undertale, so this isn't anything new to me.
@@camillesharem well I hope you have the best of luck with getting into the series I'm a big fan of the series and as someone who watched his best friend (One piece hater) getting into one piece I recommend you to read the manga or watch it sub with Japanese audio (it's just a recommendation) at the end of the day the dub is decent too but still I'd recommend the sub with Japanese audio And welcome 🤗 to the one piece verse .........again?! (idk how much time you dropped the series but you get the idea) Excited to see your reviews on it if you are planning to do a review that is And also I'd strongly recommend watching a video called "The appeal of One piece on yt" "I'll be waiting for you in the land of wano come at any cost" brotha 👍
The real draw of One Piece? IMO it is an absolute MasterClass in world building. Few can match it and none can beat it. The world itself is the most important character in the series, and I love that the Live Action clearly developed the world well. They spent a ton of money on the set design because the world itself needs to be alive to capture the essence of OP. Oda develops characters very well, and they’re viewed through the lens of the world as a whole. This world is ever-changing, and major events occur with and without the Straw Hats’ influence. The global political landscape and major players shift, and it can even cause allies and enemies to change from arc to arc. It’s written beautifully. If you have a few minutes, there’s a short RUclips video about the Amazing World of One Piece, and I highly advise checking it out.
As you will at some point come to realize, One piece is an adventure by journey but by development, it's a mystery, it's about piecing together the mysteries of the world until Luffy becomes king of the pirates which is what he describes as "the freest person in the world"
To answer the big question, "are we close to finding the One Piece?" Yes very extremely close in at least 2 or 3 years the crew will probably find the One Piece. Due in part to 1.) Oda the writer confirmed we're in the final saga of the manga and 2.) The crew themselves are very close to acquiring the final means of reaching the Final Island where the One Piece is.
Alright. I had heard from a couple of news sites that Oda had said he was ramping up for even more adventures and another ten years of One Piece. But I can imagine that Oda has his own plan in mind and would probably like to retire in the near future to make sure Netflix doesn't screw up his magnum opus! It's a ton of work being an active producer and not just someone handing down notes and checks.
If you want to show a little of why One Piece is great and what it is about. Just say ......(soft spoiler)....... the world is run by a single government that encompasses 170 nations, but 800 years ago, there was an entire century that was erased from history, no one knows what happened there, it's one of the biggest misteries and might be connected to the one piece. 1100 chapters later, we are still on the edge of the sit discovering little bits about it but we still don't know!
When you get deep enough into the story of One Piece, you start to realize how little time and effort Oda actually wastes in his writing. Everything is a great adventure while you're reading it, but his setup and payoff skills are top notch. Yes, the beginning isnt as concise as the rest of it because he wrote it more like typical jump manga at the time, plus I think storytelling as a culture has gotten much more insistent on instant gratification since then. I can promise you, his style has gotten so concise in the last several years that it's frankly kind of scary, lol. I'll say give it another go, and let it cook. No way you'll be disappointed. At the very least there are some impressive things to observe from a writing standpoint.
the worst advise you can give someone after watching one of the big 3-4 anime is to watch one of the other ones ngl lol. I watched Naruto when I was 17, 10 years ago and thought one of those others would "fill the void" Naruto left behind but I just couldn't get into any of them so I just watched other ones that were less popular etc. But thanks to this show I gave it a shot again where I left off (coincidentally) right where the Netflix show S1 concluded. And now I binge watched the whole anime in a month and a half lol. I think what I'm trying to say is, after watching a show you fell in love with you shouldn't rush into another great one thinking it will be as good or kinda similar cause you'll always feel disappointed
I did not come here to hate on bleach. I like bleach. But it’s interesting that you enjoyed that but not one piece. Contrary to what you assumed from some fans that suck at explaining it… One piece is far more complex, emotionally hitting and unpredictable than bleach! One piece does things with its story later that you don’t see in other stories. For example it goes a couple hundred chapters and episodes establishing a predictable but entertaining pattern without major losses everyone always lives and triumphs… this conditions you to think “oh this is a shonen show … blah blah blah the good guys always win”… then suddenly all of this is subverted in many ways! secret political conflicts where the bad guys always win, intriguing mysteries layered all over and the hidden lore is so engaging , we see complete losses with deaths of protagonists and complete utter failures where our crew is split up and tested on a heroes journey across the world… it somehow all comes together in very unpredictable ways. Currently I am caught up with the final saga is releasing weekly and it’s mind blowing! I can never predict the next chapter and some of most heartfelt, inspiring and sad things keep happenings… the stakes are the highest they have been in the whole series. It’s not a pointless show… it keeps surprising and changing over time… the one piece is going to be some kind of reality bending climax that was thematically tied to the point of the entire journey and worth the 27 year wait! I won’t spoil what happens but the mystery of what the one piece is is now way more complicated and unpredictable… the only thing I can say is it’s philosophical connected with the meaning of all existence in the story and what Oda is saying about our world as well. This is why the fans are so rabid and refuse to explain it. It’s hard to explain what it evolves into. The interesting thing from a story point of view is it layers all of this in this while still being a battle shonen pirate show? It’s hard to describe. But I recommend you not miss out on the international phenomenom… the one piece will be revealed in about 2-3 years and it will all end. Get caught up it’s worth it! I am a 40 year old father of 2 and I have not found many stories out there that are better.,
Thank you for the explanation! I must admit, don't just a story or franchise by its fans! I have had to learn that with Undertale (which was fantastic!) and Game of Thrones (overhyped and pales before Berserk and LOTR), where the fans gave off the wrong impressions. What I've come to realize in retrospect was that I never connected with the characters. But the Netflix adaptation really helped me there and that got me sucked into the story. It's easier to go on a long journey, like reading the Wheel of Time or Stormlight Archive, when you have characters you can really get behind.
@@camillesharem I totally get it. It’s a testament to the live action that so many non anime RUclipsrs are now reacting to one piece anime after getting excited via the live action. If you watch the anime don’t go dub! the English dub makes Luffy and most villains annoying instead of endearing in my opinion. They had a great Japanese voice cast. Also the anime does not have alot of filler episodes like bleach or Naruto … instead it has its times with drawn out pacing like replaying flashbacks more than the manga. This was their strategy to never catch up with the author. Now that I think about it bleach did the same thing. It does not bother me… if it ever gets drawn out I just skip through(the luxury of binging a streaming show that has existed for years)
I know it’s already been said but I absolutely doubt the person you spoke to about One Piece has a clue about it. Anyone talking bad or vague about the show probably doesn’t read/watch it so they shouldn’t be listened to lol Just watch it! A few episodes per weekend and you’ll love it
Honestly I think One Piece isn't a show that anyone can get forced or pressured into watching. As many other comments have already said, its a slow story about the journey, and if you aren't already prepared from the get-go to start building investment for a long term adventure, then it will definitely be hard to enjoy. Going into the show expecting different plot developments that you might find in other anime will just leave you in wait for a long time, so it definitely wont be fun. But yeah, I don't blame you, actually- especially about the fans. Fans from all animes lately have been increasingly toxic, comparing shows based off of the different powers of the main characters?? lmao? comparing the animation when they themselves don't even know how to animate- It's a war out there. Anyways yes, One Piece is a show for long term, slow enjoyment, just by looking forward to seeing how characters grow, and what they will discover in the world. The actual one piece itself? naw, I watch because I love the crew, seeing them just hanging out is enough for me, and thats why the videos of the cast from the live action just doing silly stuff were so popular- because they have such an amazing dynamic. Anyways, I hope you can watch peacefully, without pressure from your viewers or from fans of the show, and this time decide once more whether the show is for you or not.
Thanks! I am looking forward to diving more into One Piece, and honestly I'm doing it for the story now that Netflix has hooked me. Everyone has to find their own reason to enjoy or not get involved with something. Netflix sold me on the characters, and so long as they remain engaging, I will happily buckle up for a long tale. :)
The treasure of the One Piece is the end point its not something you reach in the middle of the journey finding out just how to discover the location of the One Piece requires you to challenge a sea with monsterous people who can shake the very heavens themselves of course getting to the treasure is taking a while because it isn't about the treasure itself it's about the adventure the mysteries the political intrigue along the way that makes it a story worth reading with an ending that has been planned since Oda started the series the One Piece is a goal the final goal and to get to it the crew has to actually explore the absolutely massive sea of the grand line they have to learn the history of the world and challenge the world government who stands against all who fly the flag of freedom
I never got into the anime or manga I think the whacky designs turned me off at a distance. Yes I'm familiar with anime. I was cringing when I heard Netflix was doing this because if how badly they messed up cowboy bebop. But boy did they hit the mark. Thsnk God the creator is on board too! I loved these episodes so much. 😊
I think the abysmal failure of Cowboy Bebop and Oda coming on board for the production made all the difference. As a result, One Piece hit it out of the park!
Dude ur rant at the beginning has nothing to do with one pics rn. Was this 10 years ago during the time skip and u just haven’t heard anyone say anything about it.
What are the Strawhats Currently Trying to Do about the One Piece, Without Spoilers: Well, they've been Sailing around the right part of the world where they KNOW the one piece is located. But there are some MacGuffins required to actually get to the place where the one piece can be found though, and they are held by some Serious Street Toughs. They *just* secured the third.
We are very much close to the end of the series at this point actuallly. Also yes alot of Luffy's character development and writing in the live action is very much in the source material but it's spread much further out.
This dudes rant about not liking One Piece is so superficial. I respect the ones who says "looks goofy, I dont like the art style" or "the fighting sucks compared to bleach, naruto etc." rather than "what the story is not done yet after this many chapters"? lol you supposed to be a writer?
To that last part of your comment, then you certainly haven't seen the other stuff I've reviewed or written. It is the not the length of a story that is daunting, but as I stated in the video, I didn't connect with the characters. If I am going to invest in a long story, and I don't get the characters, I want to know WHY I should stick out for a long story. However, the many fans of One Piece that I have talked to over the years never gave a satisfactory answer. That is why the Netflix adaptation was such a shock to me; it brought everything together in a succinct way and broke my own prejudice.
@@camillesharem thats the point. Characters should be fleshed out for you to love them, and fleshing them out needs time. You should know that because you are a writer. Dont tell me your the kind of writer who gives info dumps on the first 10 pages just to force the world and characters? A good world buildng should give 1+1 and let the readers solve that the answer is 2, you dont give the answer immediately. Its so boring!
@@camillesharem the Live action condensed so many stories in 1 season. Thats how you can know the characters really fast… its for targeting normies and general audience.
Only three minutes in, but whoever told you this stuff is way off. They are getting closer and closer to the One Piece, it is and always has been the goal. Each arc's got a lot of side plots, and you could definitely argue there's too many of said side plots. But each arc does progress the bigger story as well. It doesn't feel like the author is adding story arcs for the sake of it. You even have people arguing that they still fear the author will rush the ending. I hope you don't see these comments as "crazed fans who can't take criticism", even die hard fans are fully aware that it's far from perfect. It's just that the stuff you're pointing out just sounds absolutely inaccurate.
i am part of the people who are afraid that oda will be pressured or smth to rush the ending. i really hope he'll take his time. tho i fear for his life too. like, man should be able to enjoy everything he attained through one piece and live a life. so as always, i reach the conclusion that, damn, i will simply trust oda and his decisions. he prolly know all of it best. also, am part of the people who believe it's not perfect, but damn it's really an experience that i might never have in this lifetime again. so, i do hope he'll not take the explanations as crazed fans who can't take criticism.
1:50 - 2:50 very inaccurate my friend. Not want to spoil but if you really want to know what the straw hats are up to right now, they are closer to One Piece than they ever had. And it's not just about exploring the grand line, it's not a simple journey, it's about that but it's also about disrupting the world order in a way. The straw hats crew have disrupted the world order and they have come real far. We are starting to get all answers now and it's hype. So yeah, you couldn’t have been more wrong about One Piece and whoever told you that is clearly not a fan and doesn't understand One Piece. And by the way, only one half of the equator is known as the grand line, the other half is called... And if you think you were proven wrong after watching the live action, boy you are so wrong about the anime as well cause you haven't seen nothing yet 5:10 what do you mean? Luffy's back story is in episode 4 of the anime. Have you just seen first couple episodes of the anime and made up your mind? I can't with you man but idk glad you are finally enjoying the show I guess and glad realizing its not trash cause it's anything but that.
Ok, One piece is the story to find One piece greatest treasure of humanity. So Its about a person who zen like attitude and charm like baby with his extraordinary friends went out to change the world and bring dawn to it. In the start he doesn't want to be a hero but he can't stop bettering the world so its his and his friends journey to save the whole world and understand they need to take responsibility. You can't save someone you have no connection to or don't know. So they are making friends and connection to the whole world. One piece world has been crying and praying for freedom for 8 centuries to be free and Luffy and his extraordinary friends are the ones to save them all. So what is One piece itself, there are many theories but none of them say its 'Gold' or only Gold. Its history, its information, its means to change the whole world and bring dawn to the biggest fictional world in fiction. So no you can't do that in few 100 chapters. Luffy & his friends needs to be strong enough to bring down the strongest powers in the universe to save the universe and also understands the pains of the universe.
The real One Piece is the friends we made along the way. I wouldn't expect a good story to rush things or cram 1,000 chapters into 10. If I did, I would never have read the Wheel of Time of the Stormlight Archive. Hahaha! My problem was that I didn't connect with the characters before this. This adaptation helped me to do that and it changed my perspective on the overall story.
@@camillesharem Wow I wrote so much to explain its not an idea an actual tangible thing. And you got that its friends :P :P :P. Writer actually confirmed its a tangilbe thing but again Gold isn't the only tangible thing. E.g. If you give lots of gold to a country it doesn't become prosperous.
@@sohailsadaqat6684 To that last, one of my favorite fails in history is when a Mali king accidentally crashed Egypt's economy by gifting so much gold to the kingdom's poor. Here's to hoping that Luffy doesn't crash the world's economy!
You just talked to the wrong person who probably haven't read one piece. He said he's caught up and that the crew are still trying to get stronger to get to the grandline 😅. WRONG!! They've been in the grandline very long ago
Granted, that conversation was a while back. I guess I didn't give a timeline for when I got back into anime. That would be back around 2011, so there was already plenty of One Piece out there and I wanted to know if it was worth my investment of time while I was double-majoring AND the main characters had not jived with me. That was just the first in a slew of conversations where One Piece fans all said roughly the same thing, which conveyed the idea to me that the story just meandered in Shounen tropes rather than progress the story. So, it was hard to muster the energy to get invested and it just didn't click over the years until I finally watched the Netflix adaptation.
@@camillesharem oh they didn't meander. All those twenty years or so of One Piece in existence wasn't wasted on unconnected pieces of arc (adventure of the season) that doesn't lead anywhere and just goes on and on forever. Non-One Piece fans might get confused on how this manga manages to get so long without ever reaching the final goal that luffy and crew set out to do, which is to find the famous one piece treasure. So there is a tendency to think that Oda just employed an episodic storyline, meaning there is no cohesive and chronological plotline, he just writes a series of independent arcs that don't add up together or do little to propel the overall plot of the manga (the heroes just sail from one island to the next, each one with its own villain without any end in sight). On the contrary, One piece actually employs a strictly progressive style of storytelling. Although it is divided into many episodes, there is a chronological order to each arc and while the crew is doing adventure in one island, the rest of the One Piece world moves along in parallel storylines. So for instance, (spoiler alert) we know that when the strawhats were in the sabaody archipelago and trying to rescue a friend from slavery, the Marines were busy preparing to execute Luffy's brother in their headquarters. On the other side of the world, the Whitebeard pirates were preparing to go to war with the Marines while Shanks was trying his best to conciliate between the two parties. So this is a real interconnected world. The story does not revolve solely around the strawhats' "adventure of the season." There are larger-than-life forces here, bigger than the strawhats, that do their own thing as the timeline goes on regardless of what the strawhats do. In fact, there is one famous arc where the strawhats were not the main protagonists at all. They were set aside for a while in the story while side characters ran the show. What makes the story exciting is that we will witness how the strawhats assert themselves into the One Piece universe and make the world notice their presence. Oda built a world here. If there is a single thing that this manga did best, it is world-building. Luffy and crew will take us to see this world and unravel its mysteries and history. Up to now, the readers still don't know what the one piece is. But we are not in a hurry to know because after what we have learned about the world, we understand that the strawhats might not yet be ready to find the one piece or do something about it once they find it. There are still many unresolved plotpoints and conflicts that we want to see being addressed first before we get to the one piece. And honestly, we still don't want to see the end yet. We have enjoyed the ride on the strawhats ship so much as luffy and crew took us with them to learn about the world. In this journey, we have witnessed the strawhats' growth from being a rag tag group of pirates into a serious force that even the large players in the one piece universe will reckon with. I started watching the dubbed anime in high school in the early 2000s. It was so slow so i began reading the manga in 2007 after i graduated in college. And now in 2023, I'm with my son, both of us watching the anime updates week by week 😂. One piece has been a life experience for me
I'm still at the start of the video, but it seems like this man wanted the One Piece anime to be one episode long 🤣🤣🤣 No character development, no world building, no plot, no story, no dialogue, no emotion. Just an answer to what the One Piece is. I'm glad that did not happen LMAO I've heard people complain about it's pacing, simple art style, severely low budget production, etc etc. All valid points. But your statement is a first, and I'm genuinely in disbelief hahah
I can see how it comes across that way, and then it's also clear that you haven't come across this channel before. Anyone who has read all of the Wheel of Time is ready for a good long story! But is such a story worth it? Like I say later in the video, I was in college (a busy time) and wanted to know if One Piece was worth the investment of time. And NO, I repeat NO One Piece fan could make a compelling argument for me to pick up the series after the anime and manga failed to connect with me. I gave One Piece another try via Netflix because everyone is saying it was so good, which it turned out to be. Now, turn all of that around, check out the miniseries of ten videos I did on Rings of Power, and you'll be able to understand my disbelief that anyone could enjoy that show! The big difference between One Piece and Rings of Power is at the heart of it, One Piece does have good, engaging characters and ROP has NONE.
@@camillesharem Like I was saying, people have complained about it's art style, the low budget production, and childish feel. Eventually, pacing became an issue too. Those can turn people away, and that's understandable. No matter how good the narrative, world building, character development, and plot is, they won't enjoy it because of all the negatives. I happen to love it. Everyone weighs the pros and cons differently. I just didn't understand your criticism. If you just didn't vibe it, that's cool. I won't say you should watch it. But I will say this: explain yourself better than what you said at the beginning of this video lol. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the live action! I'm hoping season 2 will be even better!!
Well now that I'm reading the comments I'm sure he's not gonna get back into the anime To be fair I didn't like his reasons either but guys you need to chill not everyone has to be a fan or have logical reasons for not being into one piece some of us love the length, the adventure, the detours, the art style and the goofiness but not everyone is the same some people are just different at least he appreciates the live action This relatable need to explain why one piece is great is what other fandoms consider toxic even when we're being nice and polite it's overwhelming especially because there's so many of us and we're persistent, it's hard to be on the receiving side of all that (not that I would know I've been a fan since I was a toddler) Glad you enjoyed the live action and are recommending it to others although I wonder how considering that's what people failed to do properly for you
Thanks you. What you describe here is the hurdle that many fanbases have struggled with. Undertale and Game of Thrones are two examples that spring most readily to my mind where fans either couldn't or wouldn't slow down and be more respectful or considerate when sharing their likes. It takes practice. I am interested in seeing how the rest of the story goes. A few people have reached out here in the comments to give me some wonderful recommendations and insights that I want to follow up on. :) The biggest takeaway from this is be considerate when sharing your passions. I love Bleach, but the Bleach fanbase doesn't love me. Hahaha! The same with RWBY. And in the past I was also overwhelming with my love for stuff like LOTR and Beyonders. So, I understand the comments. Even if many of them don't win me over to the fans... That's the strength of a good story, when it pulls you in despite its followers. Haha!
@@camillesharem yes it can be quite hard to articulate intense emotions but I'm glad you're not deterred by our obsession with one piece, hope you enjoy the rest of the story too
That's... funny considering Bleach was far more directionless than One Piece. Bleach was more of a Dragon Ball format, that the "goal" was only defined within a certain arc and overarching story was irrelevant. Vague on set theme and goal for the whole, but rather, fragmented into each storyline. Whereas One Piece has been consistent throughout and while progression is slow, it's actually there. There are series of long term plot progression that actually has had tangible, meaningful advancements. Each adventure literally plots them further on the map, and the entire world events that doesn't even necessary involve the Straw Hats progress the plot forward. So for you to go "what's the point if they aren't getting to the One Piece" while simultaneously being fan of Bleach is very ironic lol.
To me one piece has the same story telling style as lord of the rings. Its a long story so they have time to take things slow and build. Yes the ultimate goal of destroying the ring is there but its more about the adventures along the way and exploring the world and characters. Also nobody knows where the one piece is so u cant just go there. this gives the crew actual reason to explore places and look, but they are getting close. Its a little odd to me that someone who wants to be a writer is so focused on the end instead of the actual story.
That is an interesting comparison. I think we buy too much into the complain that LOTR is a slow read and story, but really 3 pages into LOTR and you are already getting swept away into a complex world with colorful characters and the quest for the Ring is already underway in the second chapter. Tolkien just communicates an overwhelming amount of information with so few words! Not even Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson, or George R. R. Martin have ever been able to replicate his style! With One Piece, from what I have seen so far, I guess it fits that because the quest for the One Piece is underway so soon. Once I've gone through the story I'll be able to tell for myself how it all comes together. It is slightly amusing to me that the more I read in the comments, the more I realize that many people are sounding just like my old college friends and I have seen the same three talking points from Nux Taku parroted again and again. Hahaha! So it really is a credit to the story itself that the STORY is what makes me want to continue, rather than the majority of the fans.
Lmfao you preferring the live action over the anime and manga is gonna piss off all the insecure OP fanboys and I’m all for it. Trash that bullshit fanbase. 😂
Hahaha! I understand what you're saying. I'm not out to trash the fanbase or people who love solely the anime and manga. There are only a handful of stories where I genuinely gun for their embarrassment and decimation, and I think One Piece has earned its accolades. I'm looking forward to catching up with the rest of the story. A few people gave me some great advice and insights for tackling the anime and following arc.
1:51 - 2:55 bro was talking to the dumbest one piece fan xd a series like that wouldn't have 500 million sales and a 9.2 rated manga, me just listening to that sounds extremely boring.
"I'm a guy who does not like one piece" followed by "like me who had no intention of watching the anime or watching the manga" I guess opinions are made for you on that one, you didn't make your own. Or maybe I'm a dumb idiot on the internet who doesn't know anything.
I couldn't say either. However, I always found myself the odd one out in the Bleach community, because most fans of Bleach I've met also enjoy One Piece and Naruto. All three very different stories, but they appeal to a very wide audience.
Here's the thing, if you can't connect with the characters 20 episodes in, why stick with it? That was my biggest problem. If you can't connect with the characters, why keep up with the journey? That's one of the many reasons why I find it so hard to have any faith in the continuation of A Song of Ice and Fire. And that was what the Netflix adaptation fixed for me.
@@camillesharem look at it in perspective to it's size. 20 eps out of 1000+ is nothing, and the ramp up is a bit slower than others. I'd say to anyone to watch at least till after Arlong Park (episode 44) and if nothing clicks then that's that
@@camillesharemdo you understand what you trying to say? You are normies, and you say you only see 20 episodes, while Long time fans, has been seen this since 20 years ago. Do you have a right to say something about One Piece when you only commit to only 20 episodes? Dude, How many animes are exists now compare to then? And how One Piece still stand at the top! Do you ever think it because One Piece give a great statisfactory to the fans for a long time. We never get bored and enjoying it to this day.
Bleach's characters captivated me from the very beginning. The first two arcs are fantastic and carry the weight really well. After that? Kubo definitely meandered until he got to the Thousand Year Blood War. But then he fumbled the ending... It's kind of funny to love Bleach so much, but I will be one of the first to sit down and talk about the many issues within the series. But therein lies my original problem with One Piece: I did not connect with the characters. And it took me watching the Netflix adaptation to fully realize that. And getting over that hump helped me to appreciate the story a lot more and come to enjoy it.
@@camillesharem Did you not connect to the characters because of art preferences or did the anime/manga did a poor job at building the characters and you became impatient?
You should read and find out! You can actually check the community posts for a link to the #ChooseYourOwnHorror story. It's free and you can find out for yourself.
I've fallen out of love for anime But sticking mostly* to manga Even so, I think something like Water 7 in One Piece should be experienced in its anime format. But, also, HOLY CRAP THE LATEST ANIMATED ARC OF ONE PIECE IS SPECTACULAR
Really good summary of the overall Story 👏
Honestly, I will give it another chance. How can I not after that performance!?
@@YakultLitro
I wouldnt start there...
There are some differences that are crutial...
Ok.
hello, brother in oda. i just want to let you know that your comment made me laugh. thanks for ending my day with a laugh. ✨
Exactly dude. And let's be honest, there is no way an actual fan fed him all that bs.
@@camillesharem I said that to all haters not just you…
"I'm a person who does not like One Piece!" followed by "I'm not interested in watching it or reading it!" is quite the 1-2 combo.
Yup. I gave it the old college try. Literally. Tried to get into One Piece during college, but it never connected.
They are in the final arcs now. THEY ARE HEADING TO THE FINAL ISLAND, RAFTEL!
UPDATED: RAFTEL is at the end of the Grand Line.
"Journey before Destination, Radiant."
I heard before going to Japan last month that Oda said we're only a third of the way through the whole journey. So, we've got loads to catch up on and loads still to do and see.

@@camillesharem well I hope you have the best of luck with getting into the series
I'm a big fan of the series and as someone who watched his best friend (One piece hater) getting into one piece I recommend you to read the manga or watch it sub with Japanese audio
(it's just a recommendation) at the end of the day the dub is decent too but still I'd recommend the sub with Japanese audio
And welcome 🤗 to the one piece verse .........again?!
(idk how much time you dropped the series but you get the idea)
Excited to see your reviews on it if you are planning to do a review that is
And also I'd strongly recommend watching a video called "The appeal of One piece on yt"
"I'll be waiting for you in the land of wano come at any cost" brotha 👍
As you will at some point come to realize, One piece is an adventure by journey but by development, it's a mystery, it's about piecing together the mysteries of the world until Luffy becomes king of the pirates which is what he describes as "the freest person in the world"
2:55 😂 the problems is your friend don't won give spoiler
2:09 Yes. We are about 90%(give or take) to the One Piece.
Y spoil
Thanks for sharing that. That's some good insight that I'll remember as I dive deeper into One Piece. :)
the worst advise you can give someone after watching one of the big 3-4 anime is to watch one of the other ones ngl lol.
I agree. It's far better to take our time and come down from an amazing, completed story and slowly discover something new and fun.
It does not bother me… if it ever gets drawn out I just skip through(the luxury of binging a streaming show that has existed for years)
@@StardustMonkey Thanks for the heads-up about the pacing and thankful lack of filler!
I know it’s already been said but I absolutely doubt the person you spoke to about One Piece has a clue about it.

Just watch it! A few episodes per weekend and you’ll love it
I think I'm committed to watching One Piece now. The adaptation was definitely an eye-opener.
ok who tf you asked there in the beginning of the video? Because i suspect they don't actually know shit about OP either.
Doesn’t your rant at the beginning contradict the title and point of the video?
They didn’t find the One Piece at the end of episode 8 🤷♂️
Yeah, same thoughts.
All reasons are meh
@@camillesharem thats the point. Characters should be fleshed out for you to love them, and fleshing them out needs time. You should know that because you are a writer. Each arc's got a lot of side plots, and you could definitely argue there's too many of said side plots. But each arc does progress the bigger story as well.

And if you think you were proven wrong after watching the live action, boy you are so wrong about the anime as well cause you haven't seen nothing yet
5:10 what do you mean? Luffy's back story is in episode 4 of the anime. Have you just seen first couple episodes of the anime and made up your mind? I can't with you man but idk glad you are finally enjoying the show I guess and glad realizing its not trash cause it's anything but that.
Why is Bleach titled “Bleach”?
The world will never know! The true answer was lost along with the IchuRuki subplot. Hahaha!
@@camillesharemOda confirmed it's real
One piece has been a life experience for me
Thank you for loving Bleach❤💯
Always.
I'm still at the start of the video, but it seems like this man wanted the One Piece anime to be one episode long 🤣🤣🤣
No character development, no world building, no plot, no story, no dialogue, no emotion. Just an answer to what the One Piece is. I'm glad that did not happen LMAO
I've heard people complain about it's pacing, simple art style, severely low budget production, etc etc.
@@SonGoku-tp8gb Yeah, I could have definitely done a batter job of explaining myself. Hope to do so in the future!
Well now that I'm reading the comments I'm sure he's not gonna get back into the anime
To be fair I didn't like his reasons either but guys you need to chill not everyone has to be a fan or have logical reasons for not being into one piece
some of us love the length, the adventure, the detours, the art style and the goofiness but not everyone is the same some people are just different at least he appreciates the live action
This relatable need to explain why one piece is great is what other fandoms consider toxic even when we're being nice and polite it's overwhelming especially because there's so many of us and we're persistent, it's hard to be on the receiving side of all that (not that I would know I've been a fan since I was a toddler)
Glad you enjoyed the live action and are recommending it to others although I wonder how considering that's what people failed to do properly for you
The biggest takeaway from this is be considerate when sharing your passions.
Haha!
@@camillesharem yes it can be quite hard to articulate intense emotions but I'm glad you're not deterred by our obsession with one piece, hope you enjoy the rest of the story too
@@micow9951 Thanks! Hopefully I will have a positive update in the future!
That's... funny considering Bleach was far more directionless than One Piece.
One piece is a mystery show political they are getting to the one piece but everyone else have their own agenda
Or maybe I'm a dumb idiot on the internet who doesn't know anything.
idk why people who love bleach usually hate one piece ia there a beef idk about 😅
I couldn't say either. However, I always found myself the odd one out in the Bleach community, because most fans of Bleach I've met also enjoy One Piece and Naruto. All three very different stories, but they appeal to a very wide audience.
I can recommend you to read the manga 😅 then watch the best action part to anime, thats how i do it hahahaha
Something tells me dude only saw like 20 episodes and gave up
Here's the thing, if you can't connect with the characters 20 episodes in, why stick with it? That was my biggest problem. If you can't connect with the characters, why keep up with the journey? That's one of the many reasons why I find it so hard to have any faith in the continuation of A Song of Ice and Fire. And that was what the Netflix adaptation fixed for me.
@@camillesharem look at it in perspective to it's size. 20 eps out of 1000+ is nothing, and the ramp up is a bit slower than others. I'd say to anyone to watch at least till after Arlong Park (episode 44) and if nothing clicks then that's that
@@johnnylight0 That's a good recommendation. Thanks!
With how you described one piece, im really surprised that your goat is bleach. Characters and world building is the complete opposite.
Now im really doubting your writing skills when you chose bleach over one piece.
