Hope you have enjoyed the first week of Legends Arceus! I'd also like to amend some thoughts about the battle system from the video, I think it's fine in the context of Legends Arceus but....shouldn't be used anywhere near a competitive format lol. Figured I'd make that point a little clearer.
For me it's currently up there as one of the best MODERN (3DS Era and newer) Pokémon games, if by default due to the generally low bar of quality. Being a completely different type of Pokémon main series game gives it many new strengths and flaws. The game is overall refreshing compared to the repetition of main series games but isn't better by those means. Coming rom the same man responsible for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Cutscenes, it stands to reason that the beginning of the game is riddled with the same tutorials, pacing, and constant cutscenes issues. So far (haven't completed main story) the game feels quite barebones in terms of overall content and due to its priority switching from battling players and exploring to catching and fighting Pokémon and exploring, it becomes a preference in what type of game you prefer and enjoy. As I enjoy battling more, I won't expect to play this much on repeat or LGPE due to its learning curve in its catching mechanics. With regards to the new battle mechanics, Wolfe Glick's channel WolfeyVGC does a greta job at explaining why the current change from simultaneous turns to sequential turns makes 1v1 and 2v2 battles fundamentally broken in Legends Arceus and why PvP is disabled. I'd argue there would need to be SUBSTANTIAL changes to how turns, speed, and styles work to properly fix the game so battles become much better. This system for battling works with how the wild Pokémon AI works here as well as with how few Pokémon trainers in game have, so future Legends games of these kinds can make this fighting format work as long as PvP is disabled or major improvements are made. Also for other good critiques of this game that label flaws in a good manner check out Moist Critical (penguinz0) and Gireum Red.
Playing Legends Arceus right now hopefully they let us catch Arceus since they didn't in the original since they thought it would've been confusing to find which didn't make sense my best guess is they didn't think no one would ever think of going back to spear pillar.🤔🤔
The Thing That You Guys Don’t Know is that Pokémon Games HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SLOW Until The End Of The Games After The Antagonists REVEALS Their True Motives, The Story Starts Of SLOWLY, But it Becomes Faster as it Progresses at The End After The Antagonists REVEALS Their True Motives.
For me, it’s definitely up there. Not one of those “new bad old good” people but I have had a lot of issues with every other mainline game since the jump to the Switch. Spent the weekend playing and this is the most fun I’ve had on the Switch besides Smash Ultimate. I love sidequests and Pokémon has always lacked in that department so this was fun for me. Is it the best 3D game? I’d say these or the Alola games are the best. Definitely hope most of this game will be featured in Gen 9
i just finished aloha, and i don’t get why people go hard for them. oras were better 3DS games from that era. usum especially lacked hard in the originality component because they’re soooo similar to sm.
It's definitely the best pokemon experience I've had since Gold, Silver, and Crystal, and that says a lot. I felt like a kid again enjoying Pokemon like it was my first time catching one lol. Hundreds and thousands of people are claiming it's the best pokemon experience they've ever had. It has to be the best entry.
@@hoesayohlay Personally I found ORAS to be the weakest. A lot of the changes made Hoenn actually memorable for me but still not enough to feel satisfied (Battle Frontier aside). USUM being SM’s third version definitely hurts it but as a single entry, I think it’s the best Pokémon game on the 3DS.
@@hoesayohlay People def hate on it mostly bc of USUM, but Sun & Moon also just because of small issues like cutscenes, handholding, lack of difficulty & linearity. However, it really was a good game that if it fixed on those issues could of been great but it’s seriously over-hated on
@@onikasclef8630 i really liked sun and moon a lot. i actually felt bonded to lillie, which i can’t say for a lot of other companion characters. then, i got to usum, and it draggeddd. usum would be cool if sm didn’t exist.
I think Arceus is good because of many things, but mostly because of how different it is from a standard pokemon game while still being a pokemon game. Overall wonderful experience.
@@minimik75 That’s going to happened for sure, just not now, maybe in 2025, cause it’s going to be the 15th anniversary of Gen 5. And They need to show The OG Dragon.
They can bring back Hisuian Growlithe and Arcanine through Ancient Power like Mamoswine. Breed Ancient Power onto a Growlithe it hatches as its Hisuian form then use a fire stone as normal to evolve it. Ancient Power is the perfect way to bring back all these Hisuian forms that are extinct in the modern day.
I like all of these ideas. Personally, I also love Time-Space Distortions. It was how you got Pokémon like Scizor, Porygon, and Magnemite into the past *and* how you got fossil Pokémon into the future. And just by itself, they're super chaotic, terrifying, and fun. If the Distortions can exist in future games, you can find items like Black Augurite or a Peat Block in them, or even find Hisuian/other ancient region variant Pokémon. Or how you get an Ice Pokémon earlier in the game instead of having to wait until near the end of the game. Just have to find an in-game reason for why distortions are occurring in the first place. I think that's fairly simple though: if the Distortions in PLA pulled future Pokémon into the past, the exact same Distortion can also pull them from the *past* into the _future_ while the future Pokémon are displaced.
It's clear to me that this has all been a build-up since Gen 7. It introduced full-body character models, ride Pokemon (which returned here, Gen 8 had the bike), trials where you face a big boss Pokemon (later became alphas & nobels), trial captains (similar to wardens who each associate with a strong Pokemon) and of course, regional forms which have become super important to not inflating the Pokedex. Gen 7 might not have been perfect, but to see it's ideas fully realised to in a bigger way makes me happy. I REALLY hope Gen 9 takes from Legends Arceus in the way the world works even with how you can be rewarded for alternative Pokemon catching methods. The wild area looks and feels pathetic now.
My brother got this game for my Birthday a couple of weeks ago. It is truly the breath of fresh air that the franchise needed. I *DESIRE* more Legends games. *PLEASE* don't let it be a one-off thing, GAME FREAK.
I personally think that even though it may not be polished, the rough graphics just give me an aesthetic that is unexplainable, and I love flying over everything and just enjoying it.
The way the world looks is an artistic style that has been a choice because not everything has to look ultra-realistic with ultra realistic details. However I feel that a bigger problem is that the nearby trees and shadows go off when you don't look at them, which is strange and breaks a little immersion. But PLA is not ugly. On the contrary, I have found PLA's style mostly cozy, calm, harmonious, serene and magical which would not be possible if the overworld style of the game was ultra-realistic.
I personally don't mind the graphics that much, mostly because Legends Arceus runs really well. I never noticed any frame drops(Unlike BotW) and the load times are really quick.
This game might be my favorite Pokémon game. My favorite part of Pokémon is catching every thing so I love just running around and filling up my box then organizing them.
This games makes catching Pokémon fun (it's not arbitrarily long, but it can be difficult in a good way.) Also they removed certain battle features to make the battles FAST pace even tho it's turn based and the agile/strong mechanic is awesome, it's strategical without being overdone. I literally DON'T want to play old Pokémon games anymore, this feels like the only route to play now.
Unironically, if they never bought abilities back, I'd be perfectly okay with that. I love the battle system, it's like a (much) easier version of the Press Turn system from SMT. My main issue is the population density after the first area. That coupled with the series staple of including mostly evolutions of older mons, which is a bad combo.
I think the game is great! Been playing Pokémon for about 20 years and I haven’t been this into a Pokémon game since Gen 4! I hope they expand on this style of game!
I agree the overworld themes are great. I just wish I could hear them more often. I hate how frequently they get overwritten by the "a pokemon is watching you theme."
I just love that you can Skyrim Horse your way with Wyrdeer. Edit: Also on having two different catching tutorials... yeah that's a bit of a problem. I get the 2nd one is to inform you of pokemon personalities but those are such a non-aspect of the game because I know personally I just go for hiding backstrikes regardless of the pokemon's personality.
@@laurenchinsphealsupremacis9978 I enjoyed it, but not the same way I had enjoyed 1-4. I appreciated the work on the story and I really liked the idea of black/white Kyurem, but Gen 5 didn't grab my attention and I haven't replayed them beyond getting an hour into another save.
I don’t think it visually looks that bad? I think from a technical level there are some issues and certainly the game could look even nicer, but I find the world to be really pleasant. I think Sw/Sh looked much uglier with the wild areas
some locations like jubilife village and the crimson mirelands actually look nice. Much improvement needed overall, but ways better than gen 8's graphics.
I can't believe I'm about to defend gen 8 because I really don't like it, but Sword and Shield looked better than this game. Yeah, the wild area looks awful but the routes, cities and other things looked better. Legends Arceus looks about the same quality as the dlc areas, if not a little worse Edit: after having played more of Legends Arceus, I will say that it looks better than gen 8 in some parts
Seeing this game, it's nice to actually have expectations for future games. While there is a place for core games, THIS should be more focused on and refined. There's potential and it should be used while the going's good.
They definitely needs to integrate aspects of this game into Gen 9. Seamless battle transitions, easily accessible move pool, quicker paced battle with strategic mechanics. I'd honestly like it if Pokémon just made Legends games instead.
I’m just happy GameFreak finally tried something new with the franchise. Stagnation has definitely been a problem with the main Pokémon games and I’m glad they’re trying new ideas
I am having such a blast with this game. The common consensus among good and bad reviews is that this is a good foundation to build upon. Honestly, the biggest problem with the game might be that it set a high bar for the next gen games, if they go back to the forumalic sword and shield type game for the next gen titles I think people will be very disappointed.
I hope legends becomes it's own series the main pokemon will be focusing on battling while legends focuses on exploration/capturing pokemon and they could always learn and build off of each other
I can't wait to see more videos on this game. I've been playing like crazy but I have no one to talk to about it! I want to see more of others opinions
Fantastic video JPR! I appreciate the lack of spoilers too, as someone who's just making it to the final area, it's nice to not have to wait to see videos like this. And I'm gonna say it, Agile/Strong may not be as flashy as the new designs of Megas, but it still blows Megas out of the water as a mechanic.
The tutorials to me weren't that bad at all. They still held you for a minute, but it didn't take long for things to pick up. Like as soon as you enter the town and you are told by Prof. Laventon to meet him at the Wallflower, you are free to explore the town and talk to people.
I’ve only played it on the switch itself, haven’t played it on my tv. That being said, I’m actually pretty satisfied with the graphics. Early on I was using wyrdeer skyrim style. Meaning I was jumping on anything and everything seeing what was climbable 😂
legend arceus is made to look like its water painted. there isnt two catching tutorials. catching the starters is the catching tutorials the other teaches you about the types of pokemon
Loved the video! The only part I don't fully agree with is the minimap. When I'm given a minimap I spend half my time staring at it. In this game, I learned the environments more and focused on the world around me which made it a more immersive experience for me.
Especially after BDSP, this game is a complete breath of fresh air. The cut corners of the previous game were so obvious, that nostalgia couldn’t even get me to complete the main campaign. PLA though I felt myself actually giddy at points and would let myself get lost in the map for hours just catching Pokémon and exploring the variety of Pokémon .i thought the gameplay would be repetitive but thus far it’s a blast
In my opinion, the Legends Arceus game's biggest strengths was its restrictions, because since they cannot rely on technology or relying on the formula as a story tool to be lazy, they have to make new mechanics and concepts which fit with the time period, such as the crafting mechanics or the concept of survival, which provides actual stakes and therefore enjoyment. Like I enjoy that I can get absolutely bodied even at such a high level, which makes me actually pay attention and fight properly instead of how it goes in the main series games where I can just spam stab moves once I reach over level 30.
Haven’t beat it yet, pretty far in, and I think it’s a lot of fun, although the only thing I’ll say is that I don’t know how much I’ll replay this one, it might be more of a one and done for a few years
I'm going to disagree on the battle style being good. for competitive play, this is awful. There's no prediction involved. you make a move. after your opponent sees it, they make a move. switching would be useless. If this is they way forward i don't see competitive play being any fun.
Seeing people open the item menu to use a pokeball infuriates me so much lol, they have a smoother way to do these things and yet every youtuber seems to not have figured it out somehow?
I had a blast on my playthrough. Outside of graphics, my biggest issue was that I wanted more. Battling alongside your Pokemon in the boss battles was one of my favorite new things that I wished there was more of.
Definitely the most fun I've had while playing Pokemon in a while. The exploration, the sidequests, the research tasks for the Pokedex - it's all just really appealing to me. Also I love that even at the beginning of the game you can already run into some very strong Pokemon (I'm going to have nightmares about that Rapidash chasing me lol). And I agree that I'd rather have a game that's fun to play even if it's a bit glitchy or not very pretty than a game that looks amazing but is boring af. Also my solution to bad graphics in general is to just not wear my glasses when I'm playing the game :p
I like the fact that now instead of Freeze its now Frostbite which acts like Burn but its for Special Attack, now Special Attackers won't be so annoying to deal with
I personally don't think the graphics look that bad, despite what everyone seems to be saying, but hey, maybe I just don't have a gamer's eyes. The "gotta catch 'em all" aspect is actually something I don't mind at all. Sure I've never actually completed a Pokédex, but I've always done my best to fill it out as much as possible, just for the satisfaction factor. Maybe it's just me blindly defending this game, but some/many of your complaints felt like nitpicking. Suspension of disbelief.
2 years later….yes. I think it is. It’s amazing and I had so much more fun playing LA, looking forward to the new one! I would even argue it did things way better than even Gen 9.
Um yea and it reminded me one of the many things my dad has told me in my life always pay attention to your surroundings!! Good lord you'll know true fear when you realize there is a alpha pokemon behind you that you forgot about
I've put a lot of hours in this game already, and I have to say, I really love this game. Story was on point, gameplay was 10/10, music was incredible (go listen to the ost if u don't believe me), and while the graphics aren't on the same level as BOTW, I still thought that they were fine. Some place were really pretty, and the sky box is one of the best of all time. However, I did see a few janky things. But as a life long fan of the series, I am really happy with this. Not a perfect game, but something that is very good and imma recommend to all of my friends. My pokemon gaming order now goes like this: Legends USUM/BW/BW2 Platinum/emerald/oras HGSS/XY/SM RS/DP/BDSP FRLG/LETS GO RBY/GSC
I appreciate the video, but I disagree with you on a few points. 1) I think the ride Pokémon spacing was appropriate. Keeping the player slow in the beginning encourages them to move cautiously and take in their surroundings, and placing obstacles in the over world forced us to take routes that we wouldn’t have considered if we had the ride pokemon already. I had a lot of fun re exploring areas of precious maps that were recontectualized once I got each new ride Pokémon, and this was only possible bc they were spaced out. 2) A lack of a minimap kept me more immersed in my surroundings. I turn the minimap off in breath of the wild bc it’s a distraction and it makes my experience a lot better. If there was a minimap I think there’d be a lot more focus on the destination than the journey, and I prefer the game how it is. Overall I loved this game, the core gameplay loop was the most fun I’ve had in Pokémon in ages
9:55 I really hope they change the battle system back due to Pokémon losing it's simultaneity. You go into your turn knowing you will act right then and knowing what the opponent did, eliminating the prediction that used to exist. Not to mention the current speed management system feels bad to play with. You can move, knowing your opponent will act once, and then suddenly get attacked twice in a row. It just isn't as deep as the old system and is a lot more frustraiting. 12:05 they do. I have watched them. They at least try and cover it up a bit with having their legs shift, but it still happens. 12:25 yes! We don't need ANOTHER charizard. Though my biggest concern is that they brought back fog. That weather needs to die in a fire.
Wow! What a great video! I enjoyed this game! You are my favorite poketuber JPR! I have watched your channel for a long time! I hang the dried skin of hatsune miku over my mantle!
I think Legends Arceus is very clearly the first Pokemon game to use the (limited) hardware of the Switch, and I think it points toward SwSh being originally intended for the 3DS
i don't quite like the changes they did to the battle system. the lack of abilities and hold items, no AOE attacks despite having the ability for multiple Pokémon to join in the battle against you, it just makes the game feel unbalanced, and some what generic, also strong and agility styles feel inconsequential and tacked on for the sake of a gimmick, id take megas, Z moves and yes even Dynamax, over it .
This has been the most fun Pokémon game I’ll play in an long long time and sure it has its noticing hiccups frame drops for the Pokémon flying in the background and some of the background characters but all in all I had a blast I’m about 45 hours into the end game now and I’m still hyped to see what’s going to happen. 😆
I think it’s safe to say that SwSh was catered towards competitive players like myself and Legends: Arceus was more for the non-competitive players. While Legends has been very fun for me, I still like SwSh more because of how they made competitive battling more accessible than ever before
The best battle system changes were always minor or "background". Double battles, special/physical split, and now styles. From a design perspective, they're relatively simple (double battles are basically what if pokemon ... but 2?) but have massive implications. As opposed to the big flashy generational gimmicks that get abandoned in the next Gen.
RUclips algorithm is so cooked. I’m subbed to your channel and watched literally all of your vids but for some reason this video didn’t show up at all on my RUclips homepage. I only found this vid cause I saw your tweet about it
best story and music: the gen 5 games best world: this game best gameplay: if the pokemon had abilitys and could hold items then this game would take that spot too, i honestly am not sure what to put as the best gameplay, this is still up there though!
As someone who massively prefers the “modern” (post gen 6) Pokémon games to the originals I can confidentially say that this is the best Pokémon game of all time IMO, it has almost everything I look for in a game and it excels at all of those things
I was about to criticize about the lack of interesting things while exploring aside from just encountering Pokemon and collecting materials, but the sparsity is well explained by the story's setting and timeline. I hope that future Legends series will make the world a little more dynamic with more Pokemon and people and Easter eggs.
Personally I feel they need to keep the concept of Pokemon Legends in the next games to come, they just need to brush up on a few edges and improve on what they've got, all in all I'm impressed. Hopefully in the games to come they will have more of a breath of the wild experience, which most of us I believe would like to see, also more improvements like gym leaders, tournaments, would also be good to see. Also Nintendo needs to put their games on PC like Pokémon games and Fire Emblem games.
Why does everyone say the game looks horrible? Even if not perfect this is probably the best looking Pokémon game to date except for Pokkén Tournament. Pokémon has been, and probably always will be, graphically behind the curve in order to try and best preserve their stylization and keep their little money making mascots recognizable and appealing. Since Red and Blue Pokémon has always been subpar in the graphics department, probably the closest they have come to graphically being on point for the time is gen 3 and maybe 4.
I think for a franchise which is the most profitable entertainment brand ever made its fine for us to want more impressive graphics haha. I agree the stylisation is important but that can be done with good graphics. Personally I've always felt like the sprites in the older games have way more style and character than the 3D models.
The only issue that I have is how much you're able to Skyrim Horse the game. I haven't played it, can't play it. I don't have a switch. But it's the one thing I've noticed. But then again, with how close most of the Skyrim Horse jumps are I wonder if they're shortcuts put in intentionally
Did you say post game? So far I hadn't heard anything about whether there even was one, but I've also been careful what kind of reviews and discussions I look at to avoid spoilers. If there's anything at all worth doing after the credits roll, I'm certainly feeling a lot more comfortable going out and buy a copy of this game for myself. Anyway, as for the new forms, Pokémon has always been a world where we can revive prehistoric fossils, I'm sure they'll come up with some way to make Hisuin forms available in future games.
I haven't played this game yet. But I am glad it turn out good. This probably looks like the best modern Pokemon ( with Sun & Moon coming 2nd ) and the best Pokemon game we had in an while; since Gen. 5 I wonna say. Speaking of which. Whenever this game does well on sale, I hope that instead of an actual Gen. 5 remake, we get an Legend sequel; but with Unova.
This is the most fun I've had with a Pokemon game since X and Y. And the first Pokemon game since X & Y, that I can recommend to non-Pokemon video game players. That said, this game is a huge step in the right direction. Polish is definitely needed and GameFreak needs a bigger studio, period. But in the end, I enjoyed this game and am looking for its sequel more than anything else right now. Never thought I'd be saying that a month ago. There are a few issues that need to be fixed, but some are a necessary evil. Like the tutorial. Yeah, it's long. But overall... people are dumb. For a new style of play like this... we needed it. Also, Pokeballs have a range. That's weird. Especially for the Feather Balls and its successors. I actually love the story in this game. But you gotta get to the credits and then do the "post-game" to get to the end. They should kind of hinted at that. The battle mechanics need to be tweaked a bit, but it's overall improved. Also, there is no multiplayer besides trading. That will obviously be fixed for future games, but it does need to be noted. A lot of QoL changes are HUGE in this game and we need those for all future games. I can't wait. In the end, way more good than bad in this. 9 out of 10 for a Pokemon game. 8 out of 10 for a video game, overall. You did good GameFreak. You did good.
If they mix the cosmetics and Megas in X and Y, multiple regions and following Pokémon from heart gold and soul silver, and some quality of life changes like learning strong moves early and accessing your box or rare Pokémon whenever throughout your journey kind of like max raids did, I think we’d have the best Pokémon game ever 👌👌👌
the upgrades I want for open world pokemon games 1. the overworld should feel more natural as if pokemon lives there. legends arceus world felt like a desert where pokemon roams in small grass. add some mountans, houses, villages, cities, forests, lakes etc so that the world feels more alive 2. add the ability to climb and swim as the game character. I know legends arceus has the ability to swim and climb but using another pokemon. but I want this ability built in with the game character and using these abilities shall consume stamina just like BOTW. swimming and climbing using pokemons wont cost any stamina 3. polish the game texture. it is frustrating how bad the game looks compare to BOTW and anyother openwolrd game came out this gen. it is shame that despite being the biggest franchise in the world pokemon games look like this horroble 4. add voices to dialouge. I mean every game has this feature. I dont know why they dont do this earlier. I think they are lazy enough to not appoint voice actors 5. there should be a side quests and main quests. after accepting quest players have the freedom to do them any time. main quests should drive the plot of this game like beating certain gyms or doing island challanges or evil team arcs. the side missions should be finding and catching a certain pokemon or catch a rare pokemon, beating a certain pokemon trainer or certain activities with well written stories 6. erase the exp share mechanic or rework it so that other pokemon gets very little amount of exp. pokemon games should be hard and overcoming certain challanges should be felt rewarding. exp share makes these games easy. players really needed to grind their pokemons by challanging various trainers and batteling/catching wild pokemons. in these late gen games trainer can evolve pokemons even without batteling with them. it is very unrealisting feature. so the shared exp should be minimum. open world games should encourage the players to grind to make their pokemons powerfull rather than beating the story content to become auto powerfull, so a trainer who didnt grind enough will find this game very difficult 7. pokemon battle should be like pokken tournament. I know the turn based style is the tradition but atleast one game should have dynamic batteling system so that the fans who love button mashing and hack and slash love this game. 4moves should be the limit but there should be an option to use certain moves to block/parry an attack, dodge an attack. there should be a dodge and block button in general and I liked the strong and agile style system. so they should be also include in these games. they can also add a small skill tree to every pokemon where pokemon can unlock various skills through a move. like use a move to block opposing pokemons move, add move combos for example using dragon claw by both arms and this doubles the move power but costs more stamina/pp, upgrade certain moves to increase their power or add variation to that move like as greninja instead of throwing five small water shurriken combine those power and create a gaint water shurriken that deals all of their damage combined etc. 8. boss battles should be more than throwing something at the boss pokemon to break their sheilds. I think in a boss fight you should be able to use all of your pokemon at once or atleast 3 of them at once. you can switch between pokemons to control them while the other pokemons you are not controlling plays like a bot/npc. there should be a mechanic of elemental reactions. like after applying water electric attacks deal more damage or paralyzes them or able to hit rock/ground pokemons(just like anime), after applying water using an ice attack instantly freezes them/ decrease their speed. their should be a meter above pokemon after they get hit by a reactive element like poison, fire, ice and electric. when the meter fulls the pokemon gets static effects of that element. hitting a pokemon in there weakpoints increases the stun meter. when stun meter is full the pokemon is weakened and can be catched immediatly. higher level pokemon gets confused when their stun meter is fulled instead of getting weakened. boss pokemon like legendaries or alpha pokemons need to have an elemental aura sheild type of thing where this sheild can be only broken using certain elemental pokemon. like heatran having a fire aura sheild where only water attacks can break them and other elements have no effect on them. while battling bosses or agressive wild pokemons they can attack the trainers indstead of the pokemon. in that case you need to block that attack controlling your pokemon or set your pokemon on auto pilot and dodge attacks as a trainer. there should be a health bar and when the health meter drops to zero you faints and the wild pokemon flees and you get teleported to the pokemon center/ hospital. there should be a mechanic where certain legendary pokemons like suicune, entei and raikou tries to escape from you midbattle and you have to chase them while battleing using your ride pokemon and attack them while chasing. this will add variety in pokemon battles. 9.every big pokemons should be ridable and usable in openworld not just some pokemons. you can ride your own pokemons like pokemon lets go rather than using some flute. trainers could also battle while flying but they can send pokemons that can fly. same for underwater or occean surface battles. some water pokemons speed increases while fighting in water surface and the fighting enviornment affects the battle more drasticly. like in dark caves you may get attacked by wild pokemons and instantly kocked out. so you use your partner pokemon to follow you so they can block incoming attacks and some pokemon can enlighten the dark caves.there should be more collectable items in open world. these items can be used as craftables to craft pokeballs, certan battle buff items, health potions, status condition recovery potions etc. berries are fine collectable and there should be more berries and cooking them will have a special effect on the dish 10. there should be a trainer level and research level( already in pokemon legends arceus so not gonna talk about that). increases trainer level by catching / leveling up your pokemon and winning battles. pokemon higher than your trainer level wont obey your command. if there are gyms then the gym challange difficulty will depend on your trainer level. for example if you have a high trainer level then the gym leader will use higher level pokemons. but the elite four and champions pokemon level wont be dependent on your trainer level. they will be using their absolute best team. trainer level will affect the item shop. higher level trainer can buy high quality pokeballs and other items and tm/tr moves 11. ingame daynight circle(which already exists). but in night time their will be some new pokemon in the same area as the day time or new trainers who wants to battle will roam that place. so to fully explore an area a trainer needs to explore them both day time and night time 12. I like the umderground wild area type of mechanic of bdsp. so adding them is not bad. there should be both underground and under sea wild areas where rare pokemons live and fun to explore. I dont know if my absolute dream pokemon game will be made but I am sure many fans want this type of game. nindendo needs another type of console to make this game because switch cannot handle that. I have been deaming about AAA type of pokemon game when I got introduced to the franchise. I hope I and many other pokemon fans can get this game soon
I just got an idea this game would’ve add a touch of magic if they changed the appearance of most if not all the sinnoh región Pokémon to have us be in awe of how they changed over time , like seeing the same looking onix gastly and pikachu is just meh just for kicks
My honest thoughts after pouring 40 hours into the game is that it's fun. At the moment I do think the Alola games are better, but I still need to wait for time to pass. The only confident opinion I have is that the new Hisuian Pokemon is this game are great. My favorite is the climber, whom has become a powerful asset to my team. Although I wish there was a new fairy common mon in this game, that's oddly the only type missing from the Hisuian Pokemon
I hope this game is the newer standard Pokemon sticks to. I'm not saying copy and paste the formula for each region and not every story needs to be set in the past, but everything this game did right I felt was really good and a great step in the right direction. Still has its flaws for sure, but has been one of the most fun Pokemon experiences for me since Gen 5.
I also honesty hope games like this slow down or just eliminate the need for remakes. I love going back to the regions, but underwhelming and unoriginal remakes like BDSP are perfect examples of why this practice needs to come to an end. Going back to "Sinnoh" before it was actually called that was a very refreshing take on an old region.
after playing the games I went back to play the oldest ones and even the best ones felt insanely slow and crawling as far as gameplay is concern, so i thought about ILCA, if they really want to go with a series of faithful remakes, if they will work out now that PLA exists.
This is the most fun I’ve had (58+ hours and just at the 4th area and 9 stars) since BW2! So addicting. And my ONLY complaints or constructive criticism are: as a battler, I’d like more trainer battles and more challenging battles And the beginning hour to hour and a half are so slow, like you said. I almost fell asleep. But then it got addicting to play
haha…wait till you see the super boss later in the post game [Legends Arceus Spoilers] Volo has eight Pokémon and is probably up there in the hardest and challenging Pokémon fights…
i greatly dislike filling the pokedex, and i'll admit in the 17+ years i've spent playing pokemon i have never once completed any regional pokedex BUT this game has me so obsessed with completing research tasks that i'm 17 hours into the game and i still only have wyrdeer. i think that just shows how fresh and immersive the game is
The thing what could have helped the game alot would have been better lighting or even cel shading. BOTW looks ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE without it's cel shading/lighting. BOTW's art style was basically build around it. They could have done something similar to this too.
Thought it was great personally, but still has room for improvement the character customisation was pretty disappointing (is it really that hard to create your character before you start and then pay for changes later) and outfits + outfit UI >.> , the lack of AoE moves when you can get jumped 4 vs 1 and while I'm not really inconvenienced by the graphics I agree they could of and should be doing better by this point.
Right. I hope this becomes the new side series. Cause I do like this game I do still love the traditional formula. We don’t need let’s go anymore
@@JrockProject1 same. I reallllly want legends kyurem

Genius but you could even have some be done via fossils, portal stuff or pure evolution like kleavor or ursaluna
This probably was a good time to bring alternate versions of Aerodactyl And more ancient like Pokémon just for the kicks
I agree, this builds on a lot of the best parts of Sun & Moon
I keep calling the noble pokemon totems on accident!
Rip
Agreed. Only time it bothered me was when i was in a cave or in ocean and i could see dodgy pixelated outlines around me and my mons
I've had the game chug plenty. And the load times are long enough to have bothered me during my time.
Caves were horrible imo, your character and Pokémon have a weird white pixel line around them and you could look through the walls in some places
@@caraknn That sounds unique to your device. My game loads very quickly.
Was the frame drop of BotW really that bad?
This game might be my favorite Pokémon game. My favorite part of Pokémon is catching every thing so I love just running around and filling up my box then organizing them.
This games makes catching Pokémon fun (it's not arbitrarily long, but it can be difficult in a good way.)
Also they removed certain battle features to make the battles FAST pace even tho it's turn based and the agile/strong mechanic is awesome,
it's strategical without being overdone.
I feel the same way about the remakes for Gen 4, being someone who has never played the original Gen 4 on the DS
This is the first (non-remake) Pokemon game to excite me since Platinum, and I'm really happy with it.
What about gen 5? You didn't like it?
@@laurenchinsphealsupremacis9978 I enjoyed it, but not the same way I had enjoyed 1-4. I appreciated the work on the story and I really liked the idea of black/white Kyurem, but Gen 5 didn't grab my attention and I haven't replayed them beyond getting an hour into another save.
I will say it's the best Pokemon game we had since Gen. 5 and the best modern Pokemon game. With Gen. 7 coming close.
I don’t think it visually looks that bad? I think from a technical level there are some issues and certainly the game could look even nicer, but I find the world to be really pleasant. I think Sw/Sh looked much uglier with the wild areas
It looks like a mobile game
@@JoelDatBoi how original.
@@auramxster8801 Your answer implies that people other than me have made the same observations, which there for makes my case even more legitimate.
some locations like jubilife village and the crimson mirelands actually look nice. Much improvement needed overall, but ways better than gen 8's graphics.
I can't believe I'm about to defend gen 8 because I really don't like it, but Sword and Shield looked better than this game. Yeah, the wild area looks awful but the routes, cities and other things looked better. Legends Arceus looks about the same quality as the dlc areas, if not a little worse
Edit: after having played more of Legends Arceus, I will say that it looks better than gen 8 in some parts

I hope legends becomes it's own series
the main pokemon will be focusing on battling while legends focuses on exploration/capturing pokemon and they could always learn and build off of each other
Something I noticed with the story is how similar some of the story beats and elements are with mystery dungeon
The exile part is quite similar to the one in Rescue Team:
"Protagonist is unjustly accused and has to leave and prove their own innocence".
Am I the only one who likes the graphics in PLA?
This game is what so many of us imagined Colosseum and XD would be back in the day.
Exactly.
Is Colosseum good? I have a Gamecube and a Switch and wanted to try out a Pokemon game because I never played any
Especially after BDSP, this game is a complete breath of fresh air.
Like I enjoy that I can get absolutely bodied even at such a high level, which makes me actually pay attention and fight properly instead of how it goes in the main series games where I can just spam stab moves once I reach over level 30.
lazy is something that this game specially isn't...
The most fun I've had in a long time.
I think the pokemon company has to slow down because it is not giving the games enough time to be better
In my opinion this is the best Pokémon game of all time. It has its flaws but it’s the most engaging. Could do without all the hisuian pokemon tho…
I like the fact that now instead of Freeze its now Frostbite which acts like Burn but its for Special Attack, now Special Attackers won't be so annoying to deal with
One feature I'd absolutely like being carried over to Gen 9 is how they changed evolutions.
God the music! I just hope by gen IX they keep polishing this battle system. It feels odd not having any multiplayer combat options.
2 years later….yes. I think it is. It’s amazing and I had so much more fun playing LA, looking forward to the new one! I would even argue it did things way better than even Gen 9.
,, The quality sucks"
Little did he know, Gen 9 was gonna be way worse
My pokemon gaming order now goes like this:
Legends
USUM/BW/BW2
Platinum/emerald/oras
HGSS/XY/SM
RS/DP/BDSP
FRLG/LETS GO
RBY/GSC

Gameplay is good but the lack of online battles makes it useless after you beat the story. I had no motivation to even complete the Pokédex.
My modern pokemon game ranking is (1 is best and 4 is worst)
1. Legends
2. SM & USUM
3. XY
4. SWSH ( has nothing to do with the national dex)
While Legends has been very fun for me, I still like SwSh more because of how they made competitive battling more accessible than ever before
And also ruined it utterly with Dynamax lmao
The best battle system changes were always minor or "background". Double battles, special/physical split, and now styles. From a design perspective, they're relatively simple (double battles are basically what if pokemon ... but 2?) but have massive implications. As opposed to the big flashy generational gimmicks that get abandoned in the next Gen.
A mini map would be awesome- or at least those stamps mattering. I hate that only one waypoint exists and the stamps barely do anything for you.
Funny you mentioned how slow pokemon don’t feel that great to use cause my alpha Snorlax was surprisingly speedy at times lmao

best story and music: the gen 5 games
best world: this game
best gameplay: if the pokemon had abilitys and could hold items then this game would take that spot too, i honestly am not sure what to put as the best gameplay, this is still up there though!
Hisuian Pokémon are now the new fossil Pokémon.
They had a built in fail safe.
They just have to discover their fossils in the future/present.
@Jinho-ssi you're allowed to like a game and have criticisms of it.
Responding with "WELL DON'T PLAY IT THEN" is just silly.
The only issue that I have is how much you're able to Skyrim Horse the game. I haven't played it, can't play it. I don't have a switch. But it's the one thing I've noticed. But then again, with how close most of the Skyrim Horse jumps are I wonder if they're shortcuts put in intentionally
I vowed to never buy another Pokémon game after SwSh, but this one might get me to crack, it looks so good.
Why would you make that vow? It’s one game.
I havn't had this much fun with a Pokémon-game since Red and Blue came out back in the day.
Don’t put yourself on the same level as Ash Ketchum from Unova that’s a low bar that none of us can get to
I haven't played this game yet.
I’ve been trying to find out what your intro theme is for so long please tell me what it is
I ABSOLUTELY HATE pressing -- to bring up the map and having to press B to go back instead of -- again... WTF
I hate that the only ride pokemon you can throw a pokeball from is Basculegion.
If they mix the cosmetics and Megas in X and Y, multiple regions and following Pokémon from heart gold and soul silver, and some quality of life changes like learning strong moves early and accessing your box or rare Pokémon whenever throughout your journey kind of like max raids did, I think we’d have the best Pokémon game ever 👌👌👌
the upgrades I want for open world pokemon games
1. the overworld should feel more natural as if pokemon lives there. legends arceus world felt like a desert where pokemon roams in small grass. add some mountans, houses, villages, cities, forests, lakes etc so that the world feels more alive
2. add the ability to climb and swim as the game character. I know legends arceus has the ability to swim and climb but using another pokemon. but I want this ability built in with the game character and using these abilities shall consume stamina just like BOTW. swimming and climbing using pokemons wont cost any stamina
3. polish the game texture. it is frustrating how bad the game looks compare to BOTW and anyother openwolrd game came out this gen. it is shame that despite being the biggest franchise in the world pokemon games look like this horroble
4. add voices to dialouge. I mean every game has this feature. I dont know why they dont do this earlier. I think they are lazy enough to not appoint voice actors
5. there should be a side quests and main quests. after accepting quest players have the freedom to do them any time. main quests should drive the plot of this game like beating certain gyms or doing island challanges or evil team arcs. the side missions should be finding and catching a certain pokemon or catch a rare pokemon, beating a certain pokemon trainer or certain activities with well written stories
6. erase the exp share mechanic or rework it so that other pokemon gets very little amount of exp. pokemon games should be hard and overcoming certain challanges should be felt rewarding. exp share makes these games easy. players really needed to grind their pokemons by challanging various trainers and batteling/catching wild pokemons. in these late gen games trainer can evolve pokemons even without batteling with them. it is very unrealisting feature. so the shared exp should be minimum. open world games should encourage the players to grind to make their pokemons powerfull rather than beating the story content to become auto powerfull, so a trainer who didnt grind enough will find this game very difficult
7. pokemon battle should be like pokken tournament.
9.every big pokemons should be ridable and usable in openworld not just some pokemons. you can ride your own pokemons like pokemon lets go rather than using some flute. trainers could also battle while flying but they can send pokemons that can fly. same for underwater or occean surface battles. some water pokemons speed increases while fighting in water surface and the fighting enviornment affects the battle more drasticly. like in dark caves you may get attacked by wild pokemons and instantly kocked out. so you use your partner pokemon to follow you so they can block incoming attacks and some pokemon can enlighten the dark caves.there should be more collectable items in open world. these items can be used as craftables to craft pokeballs, certan battle buff items, health potions, status condition recovery potions etc. berries are fine collectable and there should be more berries and cooking them will have a special effect on the dish
10. there should be a trainer level and research level( already in pokemon legends arceus so not gonna talk about that). increases trainer level by catching / leveling up your pokemon and winning battles. pokemon higher than your trainer level wont obey your command. if there are gyms then the gym challange difficulty will depend on your trainer level. for example if you have a high trainer level then the gym leader will use higher level pokemons. but the elite four and champions pokemon level wont be dependent on your trainer level. they will be using their absolute best team. trainer level will affect the item shop. higher level trainer can buy high quality pokeballs and other items and tm/tr moves
11. ingame daynight circle(which already exists). but in night time their will be some new pokemon in the same area as the day time or new trainers who wants to battle will roam that place. so to fully explore an area a trainer needs to explore them both day time and night time
I’m rocking with it so far tbh. Although i was disappointed in the flying mechanic, and I’m also starting to feel like the Pokedex is pretty small
Although I wish there was a new fairy common mon in this game, that's oddly the only type missing from the Hisuian Pokemon
i mean, there's enamorus. but yeah another fairy would've been nice
It may not be a Breath of the Wild scale game, but it certainly is a... breath of fresh air game.
after playing the games I went back to play the oldest ones and even the best ones felt insanely slow and crawling as far as gameplay is concern, so i thought about ILCA, if they really want to go with a series of faithful remakes, if they will work out now that PLA exists.
I like how the game has corrected pokemon sizes
This is the most fun I’ve had (58+ hours and just at the 4th area and 9 stars) since BW2! So addicting. And my ONLY complaints or constructive criticism are: as a battler, I’d like more trainer battles and more challenging battles
And the beginning hour to hour and a half are so slow, like you said. I almost fell asleep. But then it got addicting to play
haha…wait till you see the super boss later in the post game
[Legends Arceus Spoilers]
Volo has eight Pokémon and is probably up there in the hardest and challenging Pokémon fights…
Oh you poor innocent child (you probably have got past *that* battle by now but still)
i greatly dislike filling the pokedex, and i'll admit in the 17+ years i've spent playing pokemon i have never once completed any regional pokedex
BUT
this game has me so obsessed with completing research tasks that i'm 17 hours into the game and i still only have wyrdeer. i think that just shows how fresh and immersive the game is
For once, I wanted to catch em all.(I didn't end up doing so though)
Oh some of the music is NOT CHILL at all.... But in a good way. Pokemon music is absolutely killing it lately, oh my goodness.
Legends arceus is the first Pokemon game since sun that I've really been having fun in. It's definitely a step in the right direction
Way better than I honestly thought it would be. Super happy with it
Most Pokémon games:gotta be the very best
Legends arceus: gotta catch them all
Honestly they should lean into it a bit more
The thing what could have helped the game alot would have been better lighting or even cel shading. BOTW looks ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE without it's cel shading/lighting. BOTW's art style was basically build around it. They could have done something similar to this too.
The only things I was iffy about with the game was no abilities and only 180 moves in the game.
This was my favourite Pokémon game in years. I just wished GF could improve their graphics and frame rate
