FYI, if you travel Premium economy plus, your trays are in the side pocket so the tray cover will not work. Also, is the 15.6" backback big enough to hold everything? Do you think the 17 or 18" would be better? Or will they not fit under the seat in front of you? I have a TUMI that I travelled with me while working (airplane every week) but it does not have the depth to hold a compression bag. Last time I took it to Europe, I had my clothes take up half the space in the bag with just a few items. I do like the weight of it though and the "squishability." Thanks for posting your videos. I have been enjoying them! Leaving for Lake Como in September.
at your recommendation, I bought the airplane tray cover with pockets as you showed in this video, and I actually pack the essentials I will be using on the plane ride right into those pockets and as soon as I get on the plane, I slip it right over the tray and then fold the tray back up until we are in the air...ezpz! No need to dig through my bag once I sit down in my seat to get this stuff all ready for my flight!
HINT: When we last flew in Dec. our plane was changed to a Dreamliner. We flew WestJet. On the Dreamliner there is no tray from the back of the seat in front. The trays all come up from the side of the seats. The airplane tray cover would not have worked on that particular plane. Be sure you know ... google image search for the seats on the particular plane, specific to the airline you will be travelling on. :)
I too bought the tray cover and love it. I like the idea of “pre packing” and will try on my next flight this summer. Do you know if I would be able to use one of the “airplane foot hammocks” with it? Thanks Laurie for all of your helpful hints!
Use clear freezer baggies that come in all sizes. They are cheap and clear and the freezer ones are a bit thicker. I take extra baggies to use while on vacation. They always come in handy for a million purposes.
I absolutely adore using Ziploc bags because they fit nicely into my backpack, prevent leaks & are waterproof, slide in/out easily, weigh nothing, can eliminate too much air in the bag or add air to protect things, and work much like a vertical file system! I label the bags with different colored Sharpies so at a glance I can figure out whether it's medication (T1D- carry LOADS of pump supplies & other meds), electronics, or my spare clothes. Checkpoint Charlie is already frustrating & anxiety-inducing. Being able to see things clearly labeled makes it so much easier when I need to grab a bag and figure out its contents. I've tried so many of the cute toiletry or travel type bags, but I always go back to a clear plastic zip bag. I also like having things labeled because when it's time to return home from my trip, I know exactly where my belongings need to be. 😁😉 Glad to see I'm not the only one that prefers this system. ❤️
Thank you Laurie for your time to put these videos together; they're SO helpful. ✋😆I am a bag-a-holic (pouches included.) You just helped me explain to my husband why my different variations are necessary. All bags & trips are not created equal.
I took a smallish carabiner on a recent trip to the UK, only travelling by trains/bus/taxi. During the flights, I packed my down jacket into its pocket and used the carabiner to attach it to my (rather full) personal item bag -- as I check a bag and only take a small backpack on the plane. Then in the UK, on a rainy day I used it to hang my very wet umbrella off my handbag when it wasn't raining or I was indoors. You can also use it to hang a toiletry bag off a hook. I think they are so handy!
I absolutely adore all the different sized s-biners that nite-ize offers! I have brought them on every vacation and they're so incredibly useful! They also have locking mini s-biners that I use to lock zippers, fantastic for pickpocket heavy areas.
I ALWAYS take a carabiner with me now. I even use it to hook my reusable shopping bag to my backpack after a quick trip to the market so I don’t have to carry it!
When you say it is less stressful to not have your personal item bag stuffed full, that is so true. There is so little room in the airplane and wrestling with a full bag gets really difficult and frustrating, even at the gate.
100%. My personal bag is a LoveVook backpack and I love it. Flying to my destination it was not overpacked, BUT coming home on my return flight for some reason it was overstuffed and it was almost unmanageable. Thank goodness our flight, in economy plus and first class was almost empty and I had an empty seat to sit the bag on and unload anything so I could search inside.
Can’t stress enough taking a change of clothes! We checked luggage last year and they were delayed by about 18 hours. We were wearing clothes for a cooler overnight flight and landing in a hot humid city. We were able to change into shorts and enjoy our day even without the suitcases. As well I had a small version of toiletries/my essentials pouch so I could brush hair etc. Laurie your videos and tips are essential and everyone can use them. Thanks!
Love your videos, Laurie! I used several tips on my recent trip to Italy. Regarding packing a personal item bag, I like to have pouches that have different textures. This helps me locate what I need in a darkened plane with minimal space to yank out my backpack and root around.
I'll NEVER get on an airplane again without thinking about the mammogram comment!! I can't stop laughing! I am anxious to hear your opinion, if you ever end up using the Foldie on a flight. I have been curious about that product, and have often thought, "What would Laurie do?"! I look forward to your videos even when I don't have an upcoming flight. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge!
Since there are many bags on the market that are of good quality, affordable, and can be worn with confidence, *gtdupe* why would you still buy fake bags?
I really liked what you said about the sanity check when you are organizing a personal bag. I am the person who doubles, triples, and at times quadruple checks my personal bag before I leave for the airport. I’m always so freaked out I’m going to forget something. In my brain, I map out where in my bag the most logical place I will be grabbing my Kindle or my wallet or my phone from. That helps me to remember to put that item in. Great tips.
I noticed your speech was delivered more slowly in this video. I love it, so chill! I enjoy all your videos but for some reason I did appreciate this slowed-down style.
For a makeup brush bag I use an old umbrella case. My umbrella had broken and I was going to throw it away. I looked at that small drawstring bag that holds the umbrella and thought about my makeup brushes. I turned it inside out, cut off the extra length from the bag and had a drawstring bag for my brushes. It has worked great!
I'm one of those who does not like a lot of pockets in my personal item bag. It stresses me out to try to remember where I put things. I must have, though, an outside pocket to put my ID and ticket so I can access them easily in TSA and have a place to put them back to not lose them. Thanks for more great tips.
One suggestion is if you do not have a lot of pockets and choose to use smaller pouches to stay organized. When you are packing take a photo of the pouch and all the items inside. If you have different color or types of bags that might be helpful. I have also used a label maker and placed the labels so I can see them when I look into the bag.
I carry a neon yellow nylon bag (smwll with a drawstring and super light weight, fits in my pocket), as I approach TSA I put EVERYTHING inside it. Watch, phone, items from my pockets, sunglasses, earbuds, purse, ID, belt, water bottle, ....all of it. As I pass TSA I grab my neon yellow bag and go. Quick, simple and hard to mess up. NEVER lost anything at an airport.
I'm a very petite woman, and the only time I appreciate being so short is when I'm flying in an airplane. I'm the only one on the plane who has enough space!
I love my lovevook personal item bag BECAUSE of all the pockets. A logical pocket for each essential travel item makes it easier to remember where everything is. Your packing tips have made the CATSA line much less stressful for me when i travel. Thank you, Laurie ❤
I love my Lovevook bag as well. CATSA leaving Vancouver was a NIGHT MARE for me. I was in a wheel chair and had no control over what was put up on the belt, in the grey bin etc. There was an wheel chair attendant and he was putting my stuff in bins and on the belt. I was trying to watch all my items, and we were rushed as we waited over 2 hrs. for wheel chair at the check in desk. My C-pap machine ended 3 conveyor belts over!! I had to call my daughter back into the CATSA area to go and retrieve it for me. Plus, I had bought clear bags on Amazon with the correct size according to the CATSA website. The agent tore my bag apart, and literally dumped my liquids bag upside down into my personal bag and told me I had the wrong type of bag, and that I was to use the plastic bags they provide in the CATSA area. * I was also in the special line for people with disabilities etc. as it was supposed to be less stressful for me and my family was altogether with me. I had to ask for some bags for future use, return flight... I politely told her I had checked on CATSA website and went by the guidelines and had no idea the plastic bags were supplied in their line. Also she of course discovered my small crochet bag with my yarn, project, acrylic hook and a pair of specific very small scissors that were allowed by the size I had researched. She called out to her supervisor, who then told her that those were allowed and were in the size parameters. She was in a "MOOD" and was really not a helpful nor patient person. She was downright rude. She is exactly the type of agent that everyone warns about. I thought all would be fine and that all was an exaggeration. NOPE!!!
Bless your heart, a mammogram is exactly the way to describe being in an airplane seat these days!! Don't think I'll be able to get that image out of my mind next time I'm flying LOL! I make sure I will not have to get anything out of my personal item bag during the flight by placing everything I might need en route in either a pocket or my tray table pockets thingie (the one you mention here, it is such a travel game changer, I don't know how I ever flew without it) after I go through security. That way, there's no fumbling required.
I really like your idea of using a compression bag for your personal bag. Planning on putting everything I won't need till arrival in it. I will save me hunting around for the things I need in the airport and on the plane. Thanks Laurie, your the best!!
I got several Foldies and love them. For flying, I decided to get a felt tote bag organizer for the inside. It has various size pockets and looks like it will be easy to see everything. A change of clothes in a compression cube fits perfectly under the organizer and keeps the bottom stable - like you've advised - THANK YOU! Love your videos!
I just came back from a 4 day trip and I was able to pack all in my luggage (Level 8 with laptop) & personal bag thanks to your tips. I used compression bags which made such a difference and I was able to save space in my liquid bag by decanting into smaller containers. I also placed my pill containers in different spots! Thank you!
Just an idea, if you have one T shirt in that small cube in your personal item bag, you could take it out and fit a solid colour tank/shell and 3 or 4 translucent scarf-like tops that layer over the same tank into the same amount of space. A lot more clothing options in the same footprint, as long as you wash the tank out each night. The microfiber ones that Chicos sells have a lovely silky texture and will absolutely be dry by morning.
Used some of your tips for my recent trip. Security was not an issue, pulled out my liquids bag and had my passport and boarding pass in a front pocket. Thanks for the info Laurie
I always thought of my personal bag as an extension of my carry on. For wearable items and needed essentials. If one is strategic, it can fit up to a week or so of additional wearables, etc. Anything to avoid checking bags. Thanks for your tips.
Have learned so much from your vlogs. Friends and relatives always make fun of me watching you tube but they get so stressed when travelling with bulging cases with extra charges, come without so many things, cant find anything etc etc and I breeze through customs thanks to all your tips and tricks.
🇦🇺 Aussie traveler here! I like to travel with a 7kg personal item only, and a thin hip belt to go in the airplane seat pocket with my phone and wallet inside. A tip from me is that if a personal item bag is important to you, don’t accept upgrades to the emergency row. You get the leg room but they won’t let you put a bag under the seat to keep the aisle clear.
I love your striped backpack and I bought one after seeing yours! It helps to alway pack pockets with the same items each trip. I can always find everything. 😊
Toiletry bag tip. Put everything in the bag, zip it and then shake it/swing it. Everything will settle and you can see where all of the voids and spaces are to adjust as needed.
Just packed for a road trip weekend away. Packed my bathroom bag vertically and only needed one bag vs. two !! Everything does fit better vertically :)
Another vid packed with tips! I think the reason we all stood up our toiletries was to prevent leakage - the leakproof containers and skins are a more recent addition. But they certainly have allowed us to “play Jenga” with our liquids in new way. 😂
I like pockets to help stay organized too. Most bags didn't have enough pockets for me so I bought a lightweight purse organizer to add those needed pockets. And it's easy to move to another bag if needed.
I tried your tip regarding laying items horizontally in your toiletries bag and I had so much room for more should I need. But in packing, less is more! Thanks for your hard work.
Years ago, I heard it’s helpful to save old undies throughout the year and pack them for a trip. Toss them daily to make space for your purchases. I’ve done it, it works and lightens the load.
I loved your fanny pack idea. I have put an assortment of must have items that fit in it. Meds, lotion, compression socks, ink pen, phone, charger, lipstick, mints. Toothpaste, toothbrush, toothpicks, ect. That made total sense! This video is priceless as well for my carry one.
I bought the airplane tray table cover pouch for my recent trip and LOVED it. The flight attendant said she had never seen one before. Unfortunately/fortunately on the trip home I was upgraded to Economy Plus where the tray table came out of the armrest and I could not use the table cover pouch. I was grateful for the extra seat space but in the future will pack my under seat bag differently just in case!! As you have mentioned in a previous video, aisle seats often have a smaller under seat space and my bag didn't fit very well. Fortunately they didn't make make me stow it above, as it had many items I needed during the flight . So many variables!!
I pack my liquids bag and my airplane bag standing up either vertically or horizontally towards the top of my personal items bag and not flat as you've shown. That way if you need to pull one of them put it will slide out rather than having to take one out to get to the one underneath.
Laurie, congratulations on this comprehensive travel tip video. I have watched all of your videos and seeing a reminder of what you have shared before and some new tips is amazing for someone like me that travels frequently. You are a gem!
Another stellar video Laurie! One comment about that lovely tray table cover: on some airlines, the table folds in half to stow it & it can’t be locked in place w/the cover as it becomes too thick. But I still take it hoping for the best! As well as the “mammogram” comment (an instant classic 😂) I like the new animated graphics. Thanks as always for your great tips!
I watched another video about TSA agents stealing from your bags as you walk thru the screening. It was suggested putting id/passport, etc, deep into a pocket to make it difficult for them to get to. Best if zipped. I will use the little double caribiners you showed us to secure the zipper. Not locked but harder for them to get to. In other counties, I've had to remove my money belt. It will also go deep into a zippered pocket. I love your videos.
Although I have traveled to London before, it has been ten years and now I have at least 10 meds that I have to take daily and must pack the prescription bottles. I am so happy to have discovered your channel and have been watching and taking notes. Thank you so much for all your great tips.
I haven’t read through all the comments but I always pack a swimsuit as well as a change of clothes in my backpack. Who wants to buy a pricey suit at the resort or worse, have to go swimsuit shopping your first day? I also have everything essential for the flight in one clear pouch, glasses, reader etc. that I grab from my purse and put in the seat pocket. When I pack I have a list of everything I put in my backpack or personal item so that I can pack quickly and not miss anything. I still need to streamline and your vlog is helpful.
Hi yes!!! That is one I use in my pool bag-I put the coverup and swim suit in the pool bag and roll it to a rectangular shape and put it in the bottom of my bag.
I bought a miracle suit maybe 2 years ago. Those are not cheap! I did not realize how worn out the material had become till I put it on at the resort. That’s not the best place to discover that. But you would think that miracle suit would stand up better to salt and sun.
TY for incorporating my suggestions for mentioning the FOLDIES bag. I have a purple one that I currently use as a gym bag -- until I travel next year. The extra bag that comes with it will be a holiday gift for a gal pal. FOLDIES directly has a wonderful customer service department that is on top of all possible problems with delivery, malfunctions, etc. Also, I learned to keep an itinerary list/with pictures of where I placed everything in various pockets.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I agree Laurie. For my age and disabilities, I would find the FOLDIES not the right choice for me. I found the LOVEVOOK bag in an appropriate size, and it fight on my suitcase when transiting thru the airports, and it fight under the seat in front of me, and was the right size that even my 12 and 8 yr. old grand daughters could be helpful and carry it on their shoulder. Plus, I do love all the pockets. AND, it opens at the top like Mary Poppins carpet bag and stays open when you are needing to go in and out of it.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie According to the website, if not fully expanded, it has a trolley sleeve that can be put over either a weekend or personal suitcase. The next time that I travel via UA etc., I will check the measurements.
I absolutely love your videos. We recently wnet to Scotland and Ireland for 2 weeks. It was my first trip overseas.I learned to leave just in case items at home.. At least a third of what I brought I didn’t use and was just extra weight to lug around. I also need a lighter suitcase. My old ones are heavy. Your ideas are great ones and I will be using many on the next trip. Thank you!
Catherine from Georgia USA here! Great Ideas! I like clear plastic zipper bags. One idea you shared a while back is a RED! Lid for jewelry. I use an old round RED! Tupperware Lid. I always keep a pack of tissue in my handbag inside personal bag to use in toilets with NO tissue. I think we are supposed to put all snacks and food in a gallon bag, not loose.? The rules and regs constantly change and make us so crazy. I have GLOBAL ENTRY/PreCheck. Thanks for all you do to help us Miss Laurie.
Hi Laurie! Glad I found your site a few weeks ago. Very helpful - thanks! Be sure to remind your hubby that you are very pretty and have a great personality! In case he forgot! :) Cheers!
Hi Laurie, this really one of the most thorough and helpful travel videos I’ve seen ever. Plus your tip to PRACTICE the steps to go through security! I’m a big believer in a practice run, and it’s great to be validated 😝 Thanks for such a great collection of tips and links to the actual items! Also, “LIKE A MAMMOGRAM” OMGGGGGGG
Pouches/bags that are clear so I can see the content are the most useful for me. After TSA, I rearrange my small liquid containers into my personal bag and put the larger size into my carry-on . I usually pack one bag for sleep comfort like earbuds, neck pillow, and eye mask, one bag for skincare/toiletry, one bag for first aid/vitamins/ointment/meds, and finally, one bag for snacks. All of them are clear bags so I can pull out what I need during a long flight. I always pack a big scarf that doesn't take much room and a Merino wool neck gaiter; also use compression socks. I change into comfortable slippers and use my backpack as a foot rest during the flight. That works much better for me than the foot sling.
Laurie, I LOVE your videos! I am traveling to France soon and I had a great travel tip that came to me in the middle of the night! I just ordered a new personal item bag. (And yes it's white.... but it's so beautiful so I will deal with the pretty white.) My plan is to take a clean pillow case and once on the plane take out my "plane pouch" and put it in the seat back pocket. THEN, put my PS item bag in the pillow case before I put in on the floor in the seat in front of me. Then after landing, take the pillow case off, put it in a clean grocery store bag and put that back in the PS item bag until it can be laundered! I suspect I will be putting my feet on my bag during flight so this will keep it clean!! Bon Voyage! You have been a life saver!!
I just went to Paris for a week using a carry-on and backpack only. You’ve shared so many good tips that I used. Thank you Laurie!❤ Coming home from France they wanted to see my iPad and 3-1-1 bag. Coming back through Seattle you go through security after passport control (I have global entry) and dropping off your checked bags. There is no TSA pre, so shoes off, liquid bag out and electronics out.
I love my tray pouch! I pack it before I leave home and after I go through security, I put I iPad in there. When I get to my seat I pull it out of my personal item for flight
Hey, we just got back from Europe on Delta (yes, we were part of the nightmarish delays). They announced at the beginning of one of the long flights that we were not allowed to use portable chargers during the flight. I’m not sure why, but I thought I’d warn y’all so everyone can be sure their phones are charged up before boarding. ✈️
We wear travel pouches inside our jacket/sweater to hold our id/passport/credit cards/ etc. It´s small and flat and I´ve never had a problem travelling internationally (which is how we are usually flying.)
I bought a pouch in Marshals a set of 3 , large, medium and small they nest . I added another pouch that has 3 layer packet. 3 layered pouch-toothpaste, toothbrush, mouth related, second row-pads,3rd row- wipes, restroom spray, antibacterial spray, bowl cover, small flashlight. The 3 pouch: small-eye cover, universal plane earphone, compression socks, medium pouch-writing pads, pen. Large bag contained all the pouches. They are flat and plenty of room's. I did moved my small medication barrels in that pouch as well. If I need to go to restroom, I just pulled the 3 layers pouch. I'm been using this for a while got one for international and for local flights. Can use carabiners on them . I always travel with a roller back pack 15 “ Kipling and a multifunction back pack (as my shoulder bag). Of course I always do check-ins. I vacuum my clothes and put them in compression bag to be more organized. I always carry extra clothes and shawl for emergency. I asked my friend to buy me a sachet shampoos/toothpaste in the Philippines, bought some in Peru as well.
Laurie, I've used your travel advice for years and always had a lot of success following your tips and implementing your practices into my packing style. Now I get to watch your videos as I prepare for my honeymoon! Thanks for always posting such helpful videos and reviews. Much love and appreciation from a fellow Houstonian!!
I don’t like to have my personal bag packed full! I like to have room for a sweatshirt since I may get hot and have to take it off and I like a nice easy place to put it and easy to take back out again if I get cold on the plane! Great tip to put rectangle items in the bottom of your bag!
Hi, Lauri - I'm sure you've heard this already but if your eyes are watering while reading can be an early sign of cataracts. If you haven't had an eye check up in a while, I would mention your issues next time. Safe travels n love ur vids!
Hey Laurie! I have not been on a plain since 1987! I love all of your videos, watched them all at least twice and have bought many of your Amazon item recommendations. Going to be flying to Barcelona, Spain and coming back via ship. Thank you so much!!
Oh My Gosh Laurie!!!!! I just got my Tripped Travel toiletry set and all I can say is WOW! I am a big Tom Bihn fan and have been using two of their organization pouches, one for shower kit and one for the rest. They are great but don’t have any internal organization. I also use their Standard Spiff Kit for my cats grooming kit at cat shows. It works great for the cat, but wouldn’t work for me. I ordered the kit with the makeup bag and instead of sending a liquids bag as advertised, I got the long cube and I’m not mad about it. I bought this set on yours and a few other travel channels recommendation and I LOVE it. The organization is fabulous, the low profile even when stuffed is great and I like the way it feels. I cannot wait to use all three pieces on my upcoming road trip to a cat show!!!! Thank you for finding and sharing such great products. I would be interested in a video about your favourite everyday purses and what you like to carry if different from your travel purses.
I'm so excited! 2 weeks until I leave for a week in Scotland 🩷 I'm watching you on my phone, with my packing and to-do lists open, and your Amazon storefront open and ready on my laptop! You've got everything I need listed and waiting for me, thank you 🩷
I would like to add one thing. To your compression cube where you put a shirt, two undies, and socks, I would add a night shirt or thin pajamas. Just thinking about not having something to sleep in makes me anxious.
I got the Lovevook backpack on your recommendation (I got the color called “brown” which is really a pretty rosy taupe, because I thought it would tolerate being stuffed under a seat better than your beige one 😂). Not only is it a fantastic personal item for flights, but I now use it daily as my work bag. The zippers are incredibly smooth, and it is still in pristine condition after about 11 months of use! I also took your recommendation and purchased the Level 8 20” suitcase about a year ago and it’s been great. We just took a two week trip to Spain and Portugal and now the silver corner pieces are scratched up. But otherwise, it’s in great shape. My boyfriend was convinced and ordered himself the same case in the dark red color (mine is a pretty warm blue). Thanks again for your tips and guidance. I appreciate you! ✈️

Something to just know is that different airports have different TSA requirements. For example, SFO (San Francisco) doesn't require you to remove your shoes UNLESS there's heightened security that they're watching out for. A friend who works for FEMA so travels a lot told me that this is happening because airport security is being upgraded so if an airport has already been upgraded then the shoe rule has changed. When I was traveling through Philadelphia in May, they made me put all of my electronics & liquids back into my personal item before they would send it through the scanner. So just be prepared for changed conditions. Love your videos.
I also think that they change things daily or even more often to what the will be the protocols within the rules; to keep everyone on their 'toes' and so travellers are not complacent and it helps find problematic travelers.
Hi Laurie. I really enjoy your videos! Thanks for all that you do to get us this wonderful information. I have used many of your suggested items. One item you may want to try and comment on is Sea to Summit ultra lightweight stuff sacks and dry bags. I use those for my everyday carry. Even with a lot of pockets in bags, it can get frustrating because I forget which pocket I have put stuff in. I color code my stuff sacks in my everyday backpack. This allows me to find the items (like items per stuff sack) quickly and easily. The ultra-sil ripstop fabric they use is slick. The stuff sacks slide in and out of my backpack/purse easily. Keep up the good work! It is appreciated by many people.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie You're welcome. I hope you can include these in a video in the future. They are great for EDC and traveling. I use them for both. Thanks, Gina
Great packing tips Laurie, I've been following for years and I really appreciate all your tips and suggestions...you have a wonderful fun and non judgemental personality❤️
I am not flying. I am packing shoeboxes for Samaritan Purse Operation Christmas Child. Packing a shoebox and backing a travel bag are similar. Filling all the useable space. Compress items into small space. Enjoy seeing the various items used to pack. Thanks.

“Like a mammogram” 🤣🤣
😂
😂😂😂
😂
Came to the comments as soon as she said that😂
I came here to say that! 😂😂
“Squeezed tight like a mammogram” is the best thing I have heard this year
My all time favorite analogy of an airplane seat, as tight as a mammogram!
at your recommendation, I bought the airplane tray cover with pockets as you showed in this video, and I actually pack the essentials I will be using on the plane ride right into those pockets and as soon as I get on the plane, I slip it right over the tray and then fold the tray back up until we are in the air...ezpz! No need to dig through my bag once I sit down in my seat to get this stuff all ready for my flight!
I think I’ll do that next time.
Great idea!
That’s a great idea. Thanks for that.
Yes, I have a whole video on plastic bags. Great tips
The best part about then too is that they weigh practically nothing and are waterproof!
It's just another way of saying "ghetto" for poor people wearing imitations. BUTTTTT It's a smart investment when rich people do it *gtdupe*
I’m a bagaholic too and a Lug Nut! I love their brand more than any other for the great organization and beautiful, light and cute interior colors.
Bag-a-Holic #3! I have several personal item bags & love them all.
I totally get it; I just cannot remember where I put things sometimes. I bet you had all the colored pencils organized in 3rd grade too lol.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie ✋ 🫣 I sure did lol.
Add me to the bag a holic list. It's a science to which bag goes where
Like a mammogram…best description ever! 😂
Like a mammogram!?! Ain’t nothin getting between that 😂 Thanks for the chuckle. Awesome video!
😁
I took a smallish carabiner on a recent trip to the UK, only travelling by trains/bus/taxi. During the flights, I packed my down jacket into its pocket and used the carabiner to attach it to my (rather full) personal item bag -- as I check a bag and only take a small backpack on the plane. Then in the UK, on a rainy day I used it to hang my very wet umbrella off my handbag when it wasn't raining or I was indoors. You can also use it to hang a toiletry bag off a hook. I think they are so handy!
Such a handy travel hack item and tiny to pack!
They are also great for securing zipper closures on your purse. Make it difficult for the pick pockets.
Hi I have used your hints before including 5 weeks in the USA. Whilst packing tips were excellent I had to borrow a case for all my souvenirs 😅
I just realized that too in the last year.
Squeezed tight, like a mammogram. Love you Laurie! ❤️
“…squeezed tight like a mammogram…” LOL 😂😂😂
Can’t stress enough taking a change of clothes! We checked luggage last year and they were delayed by about 18 hours. We were wearing clothes for a cooler overnight flight and landing in a hot humid city. We were able to change into shorts and enjoy our day even without the suitcases. As well I had a small version of toiletries/my essentials pouch so I could brush hair etc. Laurie your videos and tips are essential and everyone can use them. Thanks!
That’s crucial for every trip. Thanks for watching!!
Love your videos, Laurie! I used several tips on my recent trip to Italy. Regarding packing a personal item bag, I like to have pouches that have different textures. This helps me locate what I need in a darkened plane with minimal space to yank out my backpack and root around.
Ooh I forgot to mention that tip. Good one! Thx
Like a mammogram 😂😂😂 These are great tips thank you. I like matching the pouch to the shape of the pocket in the bag!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much Terry!
😂😂😂
Since there are many bags on the market that are of good quality, affordable, and can be worn with confidence, *gtdupe* why would you still buy fake bags?
I really liked what you said about the sanity check when you are organizing a personal bag. I am the person who doubles, triples, and at times quadruple checks my personal bag before I leave for the airport. I’m always so freaked out I’m going to forget something. In my brain, I map out where in my bag the most logical place I will be grabbing my Kindle or my wallet or my phone from. That helps me to remember to put that item in. Great tips.
Thank you!
I always get excited when I see you’ve dropped a new video! Lots of great ideas in this video. Thanks, as always!
Yay! Thank you!
Such great advise!!!❤❤❤
I noticed your speech was delivered more slowly in this video. I love it, so chill! I enjoy all your videos but for some reason I did appreciate this slowed-down style.
I thought many many people would not like it. It drove me crazy editing it.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I think the slower speed helps me absorb what you're saying better. It has time to sink in :)
@@kimelizsabeth I agree.
I usually play her videos at 1.25 speed, but that could be because I'm from NY
For a makeup brush bag I use an old umbrella case. My umbrella had broken and I was going to throw it away. I looked at that small drawstring bag that holds the umbrella and thought about my makeup brushes. I turned it inside out, cut off the extra length from the bag and had a drawstring bag for my brushes. It has worked great!
EEEK I love that travel hack! Thank you
I'm one of those who does not like a lot of pockets in my personal item bag. It stresses me out to try to remember where I put things. I must have, though, an outside pocket to put my ID and ticket so I can access them easily in TSA and have a place to put them back to not lose them. Thanks for more great tips.
I think that’s the best pocket ever on the outside.
It comes in handy being a firefighter too, I've found, fitting in confined spaces lol.
🥰🥰
NOPE!!!
I am so glad!!! Love all the pockets too.
Yessss so glad you pioneered this bag for everyone Jen. They love it!!
Squeezed tight like a mammogram!😂 Love it!🤣
All of us women can relate to that one!
Great idea!! I forgot about helping to make it sturdy on the bottom; great reminder.
Thank you!
That is awesome!
And matching up the footprint. Great tips!
Thanks for watching!
I’ve actually had my personal item bag be too big to fit under the seat in front of me. That taught me to leave some room!
Same with the bulkhead.
I love your striped backpack and I bought one after seeing yours! It helps to alway pack pockets with the same items each trip. I can always find everything. 😊
Awesome! Thank you!
Love the "TSA gray bin" and the scooting suitcase!!😂😂😂
I pack essentials in all see through pouches only so that way I can see what is inside easily and so can TSA! Great vid as always Laurie! Blessings!
Great idea!
Precious puppy.
Toiletry bag tip. Put everything in the bag, zip it and then shake it/swing it. Everything will settle and you can see where all of the voids and spaces are to adjust as needed.
Great hack-also good for your suitcase once packed.
How do you like the skins? They're so soft but I don't know that I need them.
They’ve been pressed into service as an added step for piece of mind if I have doubts about a container.
Love this! You have converted me to carry on instead of checking my luggage.
WHAT?! I bet you will discover even more ways to pack less once you do it a few times. Yay
Now this is perfect timing!! I need to get my personal item bag sorted. Leaving next week for Europe
Ooh, have a beautiful and yummy visit!
I like pockets to help stay organized too. Most bags didn't have enough pockets for me so I bought a lightweight purse organizer to add those needed pockets. And it's easy to move to another bag if needed.
That's a great idea!
I tried your tip regarding laying items horizontally in your toiletries bag and I had so much room for more should I need. But in packing, less is more! Thanks for your hard work.
Glad it was helpful!
Years ago, I heard it’s helpful to save old undies throughout the year and pack them for a trip. Toss them daily to make space for your purchases. I’ve done it, it works and lightens the load.
Yes and almost empty containers of liquids
I love lots of pockets in my bag. My favorite one I have is the black and white stripe back pack style that you also have. Love that one!
It's so good too! I think its pic is in this video somewhere. The front pocket bothers me as I open it I feel like little things could fall out.
Ooh good to know!
I really appreciate you taking the time to say that. This was a long one!
Thank you!!!
Oh yes, you cannot wear the money belt in airport security. Thx!

Although I have traveled to London before, it has been ten years and now I have at least 10 meds that I have to take daily and must pack the prescription bottles. I am so happy to have discovered your channel and have been watching and taking notes. Thank you so much for all your great tips.
Just returned from London, and cannot emphasize enough the need for an umbrella and even better a raincoat with a hood.
They are amazing!! But I think it’s more a carryon than personal item bag.
@@MsBackstager It looks huge.
I absolutely love your videos. We recently wnet to Scotland and Ireland for 2 weeks. It was my first trip overseas.I learned to leave just in case items at home.. Thanks so much for these great tips. I am traveling to the Caribbean in a few weeks. I haven’t flown in ten years, and I’m a “wee” bit nervous. 😉🙏🏼

You are so welcome!
Love propping my feet on my bag.
Your videos are SO helpful! Thank you for your great visuals and tips to help us.
You are so welcome!
That’s a great idea! Have a beautiful time
I just went to Paris for a week using a carry-on and backpack only. You’ve shared so many good tips that I used. Thank you Laurie!❤
Coming home from France they wanted to see my iPad and 3-1-1 bag. Coming back through Seattle you go through security after passport control (I have global entry) and dropping off your checked bags. There is no TSA pre, so shoes off, liquid bag out and electronics out.
Thanks for the update. My mom had to take out her cpap motor leaving Canada yesterday.
I love my tray pouch! I pack it before I leave home and after I go through security, I put I iPad in there. When I get to my seat I pull it out of my personal item for flight
Thanks for being so detailed, it helps. I would not have thought about having enough room to move to take something out.
Thank you, my favorite packing travel channel!!❤❤
Yay! Thank you!
I had that on a recent flight but it was just for take off and landing. We could charge while in flight.
I have $5000 and would rather buy *gtdupe* and deposit $4,500 into my bank account
Mammogram! 🤣 Practice - such a great idea! I think that would also help older folks and those anxious flyers.
Totally!

Now I get to watch your videos as I prepare for my honeymoon! Thanks for always posting such helpful videos and reviews. Much love and appreciation from a fellow Houstonian!!
EEEEK a honeymoon! Have so much fun! Hope you have power.

I love the idea of using the Tripped Travel case for in flight bag for long haul flights. ! I’ll try that next time:)
Hope it helps💙
I'm so excited! 2 weeks until I leave for a week in Scotland 🩷
I'm watching you on my phone, with my packing and to-do lists open, and your Amazon storefront open and ready on my laptop!
You've got everything I need listed and waiting for me, thank you 🩷
I love Scotland! Have an amazing time!
Such beautiful countryside. You'll be ready and learn so much!
As always your ideas are fabulous and well received. Thank you so much Laurie 🇳🇿
I would like to add one thing. To your compression cube where you put a shirt, two undies, and socks, I would add a night shirt or thin pajamas. Just thinking about not having something to sleep in makes me anxious.
I’m flying at the end of August and I have two Foldies! You won’t be disappointed, I can’t wait to travel with them, they seem perfect for air travel.
They just seem huge!

BTW - I have a cross body phone case that I wear when traveling & airline check-in has never counted it as a personal item.
Yep
Ooh thanks so much for the rec!
I loooove watching your videos before every trip… relaxes me and you make me laugh a bit… great organization tips. Thank you!
Loved your mammogram comment 😂
😁
I am not flying. I am packing shoeboxes for Samaritan Purse Operation Christmas Child. Packing a shoebox and backing a travel bag are similar. Filling all the useable space. Compress items into small space. Enjoy seeing the various items used to pack. Thanks.
That is awesome!
Great tips! I loved the tip to use a hanging toiletry bag for in flight items. Thank you!
Or for a road trip 🙌🏻
Excellent information ❤❤❤
Glad it was helpful!
