BTW the clear zippered bags that we get when we buy sheets or pillowcases work great as "free" packing cubes. Most even have a thin pocket where they put the insert to describe the product, I took that out and can put a note in there describing what is included in my cube. Most people toss those bags but they can be used over and over and be kept out of the landfill as well..
I use a backsack or a belt bag when I travel on Spirit. When boarding the plane, the belt bag counts as clothing & the backsack is thin & can be worn under your jacket. I, too, always wear my bulky clothes on the plane. I pack cotton/modal tops & leggings or pedal pushers depending on the season. The wrinkles come out of the shirts when you hang them up in around an hour. Leggings or pedals roll very small. The only shoes I pack are flip flops that can be used at the pool or as house shoes. I wear my sneakers or boots throughout the whole trip.
Great video showing that everyone can travel affordably. I travel frequently. One tip is to keep the packing list with you on the trip. Make notes of things you forgot, or that you would like to have next time. When you get home, note those things that you that packed but did not use. I love my under seater bag and if you can afford it, I good set of compression packing cubes will make a world of difference. Contact lens cases from the Dollar Tree are also great for creams and lotions in small amounts. You can even fill them with toothpaste for short trips. I pack my liquids in a quart ziplock bag and pack the purse organizers empty and flat. I bring an extra empty mesh bag for anything that I want to hang and keep in the shower.
The best travel hacks i have ever seen. Nicely done ✔️. I'm Pinterest crazy and your ideas remind me of it. Now, my earrings i used a qtip box and took less space . As a shoe bag, i used my purse dust bags as a carrier. And a sling ordered the g4 free sling bag, because my item and dont bring a carry on so it works best for my travel. Great video! From one grandma to another you might think about buying some of your regular toiletry items at your destination and leaving them there for your next visit. This would really cut down on your packing and the weight of your luggage.
I leave a bag with my sister in Massachusetts. My sister from Masschusetts leaves one with me in Florida. So does my brother from California. Now, catching JetBlue or Spirit to travel is with a backpack.
I buy small spray bottle & keep in my toiletries bag. When at destination i hang up my clothes, add warm water & mist my clothes. The wrinkles fall out easily.
Congratulations on you and your husband becoming grandparents, there’s nothing like it! I travel cross country to visit young granddaughters and am able to keep special pillows and a fabric bin there with pj’s, swimsuit, flip flops, crocs, blow dryer, hairbrush, electric toothbrush, and plastic bin of toiletries. This is not possible for every situation and I am grateful. This frees up space in my carryon for my Cinderella Barbie and her Significant Other. This is my inaugural visit to your channel, and I appreciate your succinct show-and-tell style and budget friendliness.
Best thing for both home and travel is Dr Bronner pure castille. I use it for everything :shower gel, handsoap, shampoo, laundry detergent, toothpaste. For travel I pack it concentrated and with empty container water it down. You don't need anything else except lotion. I don't even use hair conditioner anymore and wash my hair every 2 to 3 days.
As a guy who travels for 5-8 days and not having time/chance to do laundry and need white undershirts daily…yes, that’s 5-8 sets of underwear…I pack each day rolled with white shirt visible in its own Ziplock bag. Every day is in and out of an airport and hotel. End of day the used undershirt and underwear is rolled again with dark shorts visible and placed in its own large Ziplock bag. Workout clothes, shirt and shorts, are synthetic. If I need to wash in a hotel bathroom they dry quick if ringed out then ringed out again in a towel. One pair of shoes and one pair of workout sneakers.
Hi Shannon. I just discovered your channel and immediately subscribed! I 'm 70yrs of age, don't often travel but I love minimalist, affordable, useful hacks and items. So many YT videos promote incredibly expensive bags and other EDC items, mostly boring black and most seem to be designed not for women. Spash of fun colours, saving money ...Cheap & Cheerful is the way to go. So Thank you!
You appear to be allowed a lot more liquids than we are in Canada. All liquids (including gels & creams) have to fit in a pretty small 1 litre bag. Love the hacks though! p.s., the underseat bag is just a bit too big for a lot of European airlines. Bummer. I would have loved to try that!
The round plastic containers are a good idea but the rigid plastic breaks easily, leaving a mess in your toiletries bag. It happened to me. Silicon is a better option.
I wear swimsuit and underwear, leggings then jeans, two shirts then jacket or sweater. Travel by plane for a week one backpack. Dollar tree cross body for id cash etc. fits in pocket at boarding
For a week trip I decant my lotions into contact lens cases from Dollar tree. They are so tiny and hold plenty. If you could figure out labels for the bottom of these containers, I would be over the moon!
I use a Brother handheld label maker with three font sizes, and “Small” requires my reading glasses. That might be small enough for the contact lens case. Happy travels!
Shower caps are great for shoe covers or slippers. I used the smaller containers that you can put salad dressings for my creams. But also used the contact lens carriers to hold liquid makeup, moisturizer, etc. Takes up way less space. Packing cubes are great. When I went to the UK I brought water bottles which just ended up being wasted space. Sanitizing wipes for everything touchable on the plane like trays, armrests, belts and buckles. I put my meds like Advil in snack bags and then it all went into one larger ziplock bag. Also the large ziplock bags can be used to store clothes and squish the air out.
Back in the day when Sunday newspapers were delivered in large, long plastic bags or rainy days. I saved the bags. Place my shoes in the bags. I only use just my shoes when traveling. It's still used for almost maybe 20 years. My mom used them also. Maybe 30 years ago. Learn to recycle. Think out of the box ❤
Congratulations on your grand baby! 🎉 This is a great video! Thanks for sharing.😊 when we returned from our last cruise, I made a list of all of the items/outfits we did NOT use! No more over packing for us! Have a great time!
I love the suction cup idea! I also decant as many liquids/lotions as possible. However, there are much smaller containers available, especially for things like serums and foundation. You can save even more space. Great video though!
It can be done! I went on a 10-day Alaska cruise/tour in this size bag. I used compression cubes, and fortunately my husband carried the laptop. Traveling this light makes everything so much easier. I admit I sometimes check a bag that is the size most consider carry on, but not very often. And I don't bother fighting for the overhead bins. I will be using your ideas with the mesh bags and plastic purses to see how that works. Thanks for the tips!
THINK FLAT! I use contact lense containers to pack skin care lotion, make up etc. I also use them for Mentholatum, Aqophor. This is enough for a 2 to 4 day trip. In craft section at Walmart there are small ziplock bags, 3x4" and 4x6". I use one for bandaids, wash cloth cubes, safety pins, needle/ thread, and one for facial wipes. Bar shampoo comes in its own container. Bead containers are also useful I roll undies, tops into the pants, thus only having to pull one set of clothes for a day. Dont pack your shoes together. Put each shoe in a plastc walmart bag. You can move them around in the bag for best fit. Another great under seat bag is made by Samsonite. I have traveled over 50,000 miles and 7 countries. This bag rides atop my international carry-on when needed. Another great travel item is a vest. I have two. For cold weather i wear the Scott-Vest, for warm weather the Ex-Officio. Each have 12 pockets secured with zippers. Be sure to size up to accommodate lots of stuff in pockets. I never carry a purse. If i need more space I pack a daybag sling. Less is more. Safe travels!
I just flew in a bulkhead seat and I had to stole my carry-on bag so just FYI if this is you out there where lots of pockets so you can transfer your needed flight items from your bag into your pockets they will take your bag away from you and put it in the overhead there is no under the seat in the bulkhead
You have to store bag overhead when departing and arrival. I believe you can take bag down and place in from of you one floor during regular flying.( unless they have changed rules that I am not aware of)
@@carolynBulldog5 well I don’t fly much so I was unaware there was no under seat in bulkhead. I had an aisle seat so even if they had offered to give me my bag back there was nowhere to go with it in when the person in the window wanted to get in and out of the seat.
@@carolynBulldog5 they even took my cane for takeoff which was folded up and carabiner to my purse, of course they let me keep my purse. Where was making gonna go but my purse wasn’t but I still had to give it up for take off. The only problem with that is then you have to wait until they are not busy to get it back if you are unable to open or go into the overhead bins as I am not able to

I would buy a carabiner clip for your bag you are suctioning to the mirror. Then you can hook them to the hooks on the door or the shower rod or even the towel holder. They don't take up any room and you don't have to worry about them falling like you do with the suction cups.

Shannon, will you reply back letting me know if you had any problems with the airline and the rolling bag, and if the rolling bag and crossbody were durable, as easy as you thought and are ready for the next trip. Please.
Destry the only thing I will say is that it did not roll easily down the airplane aisle because the wheels only go one direction. Other than that it was great! Fits under seat.

I had watched tons, and I mean, TONS of travel essential videos and yours is the best so far! Why I said the best? Because I found more than one thing that I just found out by now! That is the side behind the inside lining with zipper to put your shoes and max the space and mesh bags instead of packing cubes! Brilliant!! It's true tho that grandmas always have the best lessons to learn 🤣
I thought all liquids/lotions etc HAD to fit in a small size, clear ziploc type bag. Looked like you had two big bags filled with smaller containers. I don’t understand how they would let all that stuff pass through the TSA inspection to be taken on board and not put in a checked suitcase.

Yes! I traveled frequently in 2022 and got it down to a science. Pretty much like you describe. Half or less the toiletries she shows here.
Contact lens cases are also good to put small earrings in so they don't get lost.

As long as it has swivel wheels any will do.
You made my day! Thanks so much.
Wow..amazingly done. Good job!🎉
Barbara thanks for watching!
I ❤❤❤❤ these ideas
Evelyn thx so much!!
Great video. My issue is toiletries and hair tools. Now whenever we travel I take a large checked bag.😲
Great idea!
I thought all liquids/lotions etc HAD to fit in a small size, clear ziploc type bag. Looked like you had two big bags filled with smaller containers. I don’t understand how they would let all that stuff pass through the TSA inspection to be taken on board and not put in a checked suitcase.
I agree with you...what airports would allow that? Those purse organizers look HUGE.
Love info
Glad it was helpful!
I love your channel Sharron. I don't see the Walmart link??
Here is the link to my shop with all the items: SHOP TRAVEL FAVORITES:

Great recs! I was sad to see the roller bag is already out of stock at WalMart!
Ugh! I recommend you put it in your online cart. When it’s restocked they will notify you.

@@shannonskiptomylife Great, thank you so much!
I was wondering if it is a struggle to get your bag under the seat with the reduced leg room space.
I think that depends on what airline you are flying.
Thankyou so much!!!❤
You're welcome 😊
What city is your Dollar Tree located? Never seen Neutrogena😢
That’s from Walmart.
What do you use to take off your waterproof makeup? Sorry, but I couldn’t make out what you were saying in the video. ❤ your videos!!
