Your videos are great. A nice long watch while I'm playing a game or something, and really comprehensive. I honestly wish I could make such big, informative videos. Keep it up! RE is my fave.
Wow a monumental task to undertake I'm sure, both in terms of scripting and research, but also just editing in general. well done. After seeing you talk about prototype re1 game editions and such makes me wish that you'd had the chance to look at those for re2 in your older video. but fantastic work.
Yeah, this was a bigger project than I thought it would be, for sure. I captured over 250 clips for this thing, and the editing took forever and a day. :-P It definitely would've been cool to look into the demo disc, any available prototypes, the unreleased GBA port, and the Tiger 99x version for RE2, but I was unaware of those at the time. Thanks a lot for your support!
Love this video. I really still love "olds" Ps1 Re 1,2 & 3 . And for me, RE remake & Silent Hill 2, both games are best survival horrors of all time ... They belongs to the golden age of this genre
Well done! Resident Evil 1 is one of my all-time favorite games. You've done it justice with this well researched and comprehensive comparison video. Thank you.
Not really sure why there would be one about RE3, especially since there's only 4 versions of it that were ever released, and 2 of them are completely identical in every way.
amazing video! really grateful to see it! though I was surprised to not hear any mention of Jill's extreme juggle physics which were added in the HD remake of REmake. again, amazing video!
Can I just say how much I appreciate how you're not constantly trying to force humour into every sentence like so many gaming RUclipsrs do. I just love hearing all the trivia with the professional style
Nice vid! There's some hope for the GC and HD releases' Real Survival Mode, though. They give you an item tracker within the map screen so that you don't have to memorize what's in each item box.
It's so fascinating to me we had violent content cut from the first RE since I've seen comparisons with one version in Japan (I've read there are different versions based on the age you have to be to purchase) that have several interactions altered to be less gory than the West version for RE 7. OMG there's a port for my Saturn?! Oh dear, Chris in the victory screen in Battlemode looks like Jotaro. Okay making the lighter so useful in the Gamecube while adding a difficulty that makes sense in context (them getting up again) is amazing. Man, Rebecca gets no respect as far as costumes. You did an awesome job with this. I can't wait for the vid to be public and share with my brother, the one who used to play RE with me back in the day. ps what does your shirt say other than Barry?
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you liked the video! Also, sorry about the angle of my shirt - I was hoping to say more. It's the zombie from the Kenneth scene of REMake, with "Barry!" above it, and "Where's Barry?" below it. :)
Oh yeah, the vid was tons of fun. Also, nice touch with the Alice music in the opening. I know you referenced it later but I managed to catch it before talking about the menu screen. Also, that is a very cool shirt. There's a gun in Fortnite that Grindstone affectionately calls "the Barry Burton" because it's pretty much his gun. And it is very effective against living things. ;)
Thanks for this video 🙏🏽🙏🏽. Just caught up on watching this game playing it 15 years ago as a little kid and wanted to know the differences. Brings back so many memories!!
Thank ya for this video dude, incredible depth and research was put into it and I appreciate it alot. I've always wanted to know the differences between each version, and I think you presented it very well. Oh, and I was ecstatic to see you go into detail on the differences between the Alpha/Beta versions too. That's when I knew this was gonna be a great watch. Look forward to more, keep on creating!
I’m quite impressed. He’s so informative and his videos are lengthy but not in a way that bores you or makes you want to skip around. I’m new to this channel and as a huge RE fanatic, I’m more than pleased. These games came out a good few years before my time and I’m pretty sure I’ve played each one and knew them inside and out. You have proven me wrong!
This video was made with so much passion and effort! You deserve more views! Thanks for making this video! Just got in to playing RE1 on the GameCube for the first time ever! I missed the chance to play this back during my childhood! I enjoyed your content!
When it comes out, you should also do a review of the Resident Evil 2 Remake :D I hear that one is gonna have more indepth story, expanded parts of the RPD as well as some other changes in the remake! :DD
Immediately remembered this video as soon as I started playing the GOG version, I'm happy that we finally have a legit way to play this amazing game on modern PCs! One thing that I found a little odd with the port however is that ink ribbons are no longer needed in Jill's campaign, you can just save at a typewriter as many times as you want. I re-watched the portion of this video about the PC release and I didn't see that being mentioned anywhere, perhaps it's a new feature exclusive to the GOG version?
It's fantastic that the PC versions are more readily available now. It's amazing. :-D Strange about the lack of need for ink ribbons. I didn't know about that, but am not sure if it was the case in the original PC version. Thanks for the information!
I've been a Resident Evil fan since the original game way back in 1996 and have been a longtime fan since that iconic first game. Resident Evil is my all time favorite series of all time as well. I found your channel and this video while looking around for Resident Evil videos, definitely thankful I found it, because this was so incredibly well done. I am blown away by level of in depth detail & presentation in this video. I learned a ton of stuff from this video which I was surprised as I thought I knew quite a bit about my favorite series, but, in turn I found out way more from this instead. This was so awesomely done. Always nice to meet another diehard RE fan as well. Keep up the great work, I subscribed & "Liked" this as soon as I watched this, nicely done! 😎 Christopher "Redfield96" Distant Memories 1996
Great video. I need add something to the PC version. In first one is the unique port running with the 3D Acceleration. Also in this port exist a hidden ammunition called Dum Dum. This is a ammo for a Magnum but is no exist in the game. For obtain that you need add hex the Dum dum value in a save. When you load the game the dum dum appear in your inventory. Is a stranger Item and is totally unknown for the most people. Regards!
I was getting worried that you were getting close to the end at about 25 minutes. I was so happy to see I'm not even halfway thru lol. Your videos are long and extremely well put together and compared. Being that this is one of my favorite series of games you get my utmost respect and applause. Thank you sir. You really are the master of comparing.
You won't find a bigger fan of the classic Resident Evil games than me, and I just want to say this is by far the best and most detailed comparison video I've ever seen. I can tell this was a labour of love for you. Thank you for this excellent production. 👍
@man0z I wanted that as well back in the day, but I think what they did with Resident Evil 2 was all for the best. When they remade Resident Evil 1, Resident Evil 4 was only invert early stages of development and the series hadn't been reinvented yet. So Resident Evil 1 remake really was the best Resident Evil game they could have made at the time. It pushed the series forward at least until Resident Evil 4. Likewise, Resident Evil 2 remake is arguably one of the best horror games of all time. If they had simply made an RE1-style remake, it would set the series back and the game would have been dated from day one. That would have been all the more devastating given the comeback the series made with Resident Evil 7.
I like the remake of Resident Evil 1 but I like the original better. I tell you why. The mansion looks like an ordinary mansion. Now the remake looks more like a haunted mansion. Not a big fan of it tbh
@@dogpd3 The color palette they chose in the remake gave us a more realistic looking mansion. The reason you get the impression of it looking like a haunted mansion has to do with the advanced lighting and shadows as well as the sound of thunder and lightning outside in the background. If you were to look at the Spencer Mansion in the remake during the daytime, it would probably look a bit more ordinary.
Another great comparison video! I would love to see a RE3 version of this or possibly Code veronica (though that one may only have 2 versions) some day. I came here from a shitty final fantasy 6 comparison video. If you are into the old final fantasy games then a comparison of any of those would be awesome as well since you do a great job showing all the differences in the games you review.
You're welcome and no worries. I guess I don't truly understand the work that goes into videos like this since I haven't made one myself but I'm sure it's pretty exhausting. If you do ever feel inspired to make another then I will watch it but no rush :)
This was an extremely comprehensive video, it must have taken a long time to put together. I'd love to see more of them in the future about other games you've enjoyed!
I still have a thing for Jill and she looks gorgeous in her REmake army costume and that end screen pose is cool too. I am still kinda salty there are three RE animated movies and she isn't in any of them.
These videos may be a year old but I just found them and they're helping me considerably in overcoming hard anticipation for RE2 Remake. So thank you! haha
Awesome video man! I can't imagine how much work you put to make this. Keep up with these deep comparisons, there's no channel that get so much attention to details.
expected shit-level video. Was pleasantly surprised. +1 subscriber to you, sir. Small tip tho, get a better microphone. Just nitpicking really, but it'll greatly improve your content. :)
Thank you very much! As for the microphone, yeeeeah, that was my problem. I didn't use one. I used my camera to pick up my sound. I could've used a proper microphone for the off-camera portions, but I feel that that would have been distracting. I may need to get a different camera which can support USB mic input.
really admire that you do this stuff, with re2 and the remake here. Its nice to see all this information in a nice collection. And on a side note - that shirt is amazing.
great vid, but there are a few things I would like to point out: -The HD remake gives you the option for full analogue controls, so the character moves in the direction you move the stick. You also don't need to hold a button to run using this scheme -the original and Dualshock versions of Director's Cut share the same save data. If you ever wanted to move between the two without losing progress -The person who supposedly wrote the dualshock version's music was found out to be a complete fraud who had ghostwriters do it for him. He also "wrote" the soundtrack to Onimusha: Warlords and that's the reason why the upcoming HD re-release of that game will have a new soundtrack anyway, great vid. keep up the good work!
I didn't realize that about the analogue controls at the time. Thanks! And I've NEVER heard about sharing save files between the original and director's cut. That's amazing! I did know about the "deaf" composer of the dual shock version. My god, how embarrassing. Thanks a lot for your support!
Lotus Prince I didn’t know about the save data either until I bought a copy of the original DC and used a memory card with a GH DC save on it and there it was.
Brother you have the greatest RE video/mini docs I have ever seen. I wish we could get a RE engine remake of these legends. Re3 from 1999 is my all time favorite game but 1 in my top 3 fornsure
This and the RE2 video are nothing short of amazing. You do a very good job of thoroughly explaining thing as well as comparing the differences with actual gameplay. Noting the resolution and framrates are also great. Keep up the good work! I would highly recommend you do some other retro video game comparisons as well for games with multiplatform releases through years
Glad to find a RUclips channel that's as passionate about the nuances of resident evil as I am. Instant sub and like. Have you done resident evil 4 yet? The only thing I know is Dr salvador has 2 distinct chainsaw attacks which gave 2 different death animations based on if he detects you in front of him or near his side.
What a fantastic video. This is a real documentary made by a real fan and, having played the games for over 20 years myself, I was really happy to see many new features that I never knew about before :) Great work and thanks so much for using the terms Remake and Remaster in the correct context!
This was an amazing video!!! I remember watching your RE2 comparisons video years ago, and I always wanted you to do the same with other RE games, and now you did! This must have taken you a long time to make, and it shows! the quality of this video is just superb. I appreciate all the time and effort that it took you to make it. My favourite version is the DS one. As much as I like the PSX version I grew up with, I find the tiny details in the DS to improve the gameplay a lot, like the 180° turn, auto-aim, skipping door sequences, etc. Also, one tiny little thing you forgot to mention about the DS one, is that, just like the Director's Cut, it has an easy mode you can access via code; Just push the right button on the d-pad when selecting a game mode until the text turns green! Oh and also, I don't know if this counts, but if you play the DS version on an emulator you can actually configure it so that it uses your PC's video card, making the graphics look even better than the original PC version! Again, this was a fantastic video. Thank you so much for making it!
Oh, this took a very long time to edit. Fortunately, I think it was worth it. :) Also, I had no idea that the DS version had an easy mode - thanks for the information! I was aware of being able to tweak it with the PC's card - that's fantastic. :) Thanks a lot for your support!

Thanks a lot for your support!
Lotus Prince crazy labor, but was Worth It! May the thousands of positive comments and likes rain down on you!
@@chrisspeed270 Why?
Wow a monumental task to undertake I'm sure, both in terms of scripting and research, but also just editing in general. well done. After seeing you talk about prototype re1 game editions and such makes me wish that you'd had the chance to look at those for re2 in your older video. but fantastic work.
Yeah, this was a bigger project than I thought it would be, for sure. I captured over 250 clips for this thing, and the editing took forever and a day. :-P
It definitely would've been cool to look into the demo disc, any available prototypes, the unreleased GBA port, and the Tiger 99x version for RE2, but I was unaware of those at the time.
Thanks a lot for your support!
You can always make a new video complementary to the original. That would be awesome! Good job as always
You forgot to say that the Remake added 2 more endings to each character.
So there are 12 endings
In the original only 8 endings
Ooh, I think I did forget that. D'oh! Thanks for the information!
Love this video. I really still love "olds" Ps1 Re 1,2 & 3 . And for me, RE remake & Silent Hill 2, both games are best survival horrors of all time ... They belongs to the golden age of this genre
Thank you very much!
Great video, fun and informative. It didn't felt like a hour one, amazing! Love these old games...
Thank you very much!
Well done! Resident Evil 1 is one of my all-time favorite games. You've done it justice with this well researched and comprehensive comparison video. Thank you.
You're welcome, and thank you!
I've been waiting for this for so long... Thank You, Lotus Prince! Looking forward to a RE3 comparison soon!
RE3 may come, but it won't be anytime soon. This was exhausting to make. :-P
Thanks a lot for your support!
Not really sure why there would be one about RE3, especially since there's only 4 versions of it that were ever released, and 2 of them are completely identical in every way.
AEUGNewtype I'm sure lotus prince would find a difference ... This guy is thorough
amazing video! really grateful to see it! though I was surprised to not hear any mention of Jill's extreme juggle physics which were added in the HD remake of REmake.
again, amazing video!
I wasn't aware of that. How strange. Thanks for the information, and for your support!
I noticed that playing through it. Kinda wish that could be turned off.
That wasn’t added actually. That’s a result of the 60fps animation and new lighting engine. She always had them though.
Can I just say how much I appreciate how you're not constantly trying to force humour into every sentence like so many gaming RUclipsrs do. I just love hearing all the trivia with the professional style
Thank you very much! Yeah, probably the furthest I go for humor in this one is the "blue blue bomber bomber" jacket. :-P
This is so fascinating. The GBC fan project looks really cool.
Thank you very much! As for the GBC version, it's not a fan project. That was going to be an official release.
Oh really? Woah, that's amazing!
From what I'm aware, yeah. It was really ambitious. :-D
@@lotus-prince Really hard to get around though. A rom exists online.
@@GacMan47 Yep - that's actually how I ended up capturing footage for this video. My hard copy didn't seem to work.
Hell yeah! Was a huge fan of the resident evil 2 video as well as your other work, happy to see more resident evil content my friend
Thank you very much!
These are like the most in-depth informative videos on RUclips, glad I found this dope channel.
Thank you very much!
Discovered you through you Resident Evil 2 comparison video. Really good job :)
Thank you very much!
Nice vid! There's some hope for the GC and HD releases' Real Survival Mode, though. They give you an item tracker within the map screen so that you don't have to memorize what's in each item box.
Good stuff. :-D Thanks a lot for your support!
I watch this probably twice a year if not more. This documentary is exactly what RUclips was designed for.
Thank you very much!
Excelent video Lotus, master of releases. I enjoyed watchig the video. Cant wait for RE3 or RE4!
Those won't be for quite awhile - this one was exhausting to make.
Thanks a lot for your support!
And it is very effective against living things. ;)
Oh, man, that's cool. :-D And great catch regarding the Alice music!
*silently eats a Jill sandwich*
yiss
It's so nice to see a great documentation of all the differences because nobody seems to be doing it this well.
Thank you very much!
Thanks for this video 🙏🏽🙏🏽. Just caught up on watching this game playing it 15 years ago as a little kid and wanted to know the differences. Brings back so many memories!!
You're welcome, and thank you!
I need more do resident evil 3 if you can
Maybe at some point, but not for awhile. This was exhausting to make. :-P
Thanks a lot for your support!
Lotus Prince i appreciate your hard work
@@lotus-prince RE:3 would be great man for real but take your time hehe =]
There's not really a lot of noteable changes between the ports of RE3, so it's probably not going to fill the length of an analysis like 1 and 2.
Loved your RE 2 video which made get it for my 64 and play it again. Looks like I should try RE for the DS. Very entertaining vid my dude
Thank you very much!
You're welcome, and thank you!
Thank you very much!
If your an re fanatic what colour is weskers underwear?
This video was made with so much passion and effort! You deserve more views! Thanks for making this video! Just got in to playing RE1 on the GameCube for the first time ever! I missed the chance to play this back during my childhood! I enjoyed your content!
Thank you very much!
The remake rocket launcher you unlock is a nod to the original cover art.
Oh, nice!
I always thought the gun on the cover looked more like a weird shotgun.
Ben ________ it’s actually several pieces of different firearms. They just modeled the launcher to look like it out of respect. Kind of an Easter egg.
Utterly brilliant....Love your presentation style and your knowledge is unequalled, thankyou....you have a new subscriber!
Thank you very much!
I played the remake of the first Resident Evil game a few months ago and holy shit it scared me more then I thought lol
Oh, for sure. :-D
When it comes out, you should also do a review of the Resident Evil 2 Remake :D I hear that one is gonna have more indepth story, expanded parts of the RPD as well as some other changes in the remake! :DD
It'll probably take me awhile to get to it, but I'd like to!
Thanks for the information!
thank you for making this. i have played the game hundreds of times in different releases since 1997, but i usually forget about the differences.
You're welcome, and thank you!

I love these videos that you do Lotus! As always fantastic and informative!
Thank you very much!
Regards!
Ooh, I didn't know that! Thanks for the information, and for your support!
Thank you very much!
Watched this and the RE2 video you made. Extremely well done, and I genuinely hope to see more version comparisons from you!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked them!
Love the presentation but their is quick turning in the DS version btw.
Oh, nice! Thanks for the information!
This was a damn good and entertaining video, i really enjoyed it. Thanks!

Awesome job bro love the whole videos I hope you can do Resident Evil 3 next keep up the work :)
Maybe at some point, but not for awhile. This was exhausting to make. :-P

Man, what a great review. Just stumbled upon your channel. Im gonna look all your RE reviews. 🎉
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
Really enjoying these “Differences of each version” videos you’ve made. I hope there’s enough to work with for 3.
Thank you very much!
i just noticed that the saturn re1 instead of showing a picture of the actor who played the character in the ending i shows the 3d model instead.
Oh, good call!
Bro ! you are a savage! cant believe you made me watch the whole thing lol great video ...cheers!
Thank you very much!
Man it is reeealy cool! 👍 Looking forward to see a video about RE3 even if it won't be soon. Greetings from Russia. 🖐
Thank you very much!
You won't find a bigger fan of the classic Resident Evil games than me, and I just want to say this is by far the best and most detailed comparison video I've ever seen. I can tell this was a labour of love for you. Thank you for this excellent production. 👍
Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it. :)
To be fair, I subscribed. You deserve more subscribers as you deeply analyze the series as an whole, including the multiple versions of its releases
Thank you very much!
I l love the remake of Resident Evil 1, it is freaky as shit. The HD remastered version, seems more cooler. That's just my opinions, on it.
Any chance we get a Resident Evil 3 video like this?
Maybe at some point.
Thank you very much! I may do other comparison videos in the future, but I don't have plans for them just yet - this was exhausting to do. :-P
You're welcome and no worries. I guess I don't truly understand the work that goes into videos like this since I haven't made one myself but I'm sure it's pretty exhausting. If you do ever feel inspired to make another then I will watch it but no rush :)
Thank you once again!
This was an extremely comprehensive video, it must have taken a long time to put together. I'd love to see more of them in the future about other games you've enjoyed!
Thank you very much!
you havent only a collection of treasures but your knowledge about re1 is amazing
Thanks a lot!
Yup, don’t want our rated M audience smoking 👨🦳
Yeah, really. :-P
@juicedup14 lmao
This is very impressive well done!
Thank you very much!
Lotus Prince how about a resident evil 3 or even 4 comparison next?
I'd like to at some point, but god only knows when that will actually happen. :-P
I still have a thing for Jill and she looks gorgeous in her REmake army costume and that end screen pose is cool too.
I am still kinda salty there are three RE animated movies and she isn't in any of them.
Yeah, that's a good point. I hadn't realized it, but they really are Leon and Claire centric, with a bit of Chris and Rebecca in the third.
Mostly Leon centric, because he is in all of them. Not that I don't like Leon, but give me my girls!
I still prefer Jill's RE3 outfit, but that's probably because I played the crap outta that one.
That one is beautiful too.
I mean, it's Jill, she looks great in anything.
TheKadetJaina freaky
These videos may be a year old but I just found them and they're helping me considerably in overcoming hard anticipation for RE2 Remake. So thank you! haha
You're welcome, and thank you!
Amazing video . I find myself rewatching this as well as the re 2 videos, and just needed to give you a huge props these are excellent
Thank you very much!
Will you be making a video about all of the different RE 3 versions?
Maybe at some point. :)
Ending song?
RE1 end credits theme. :)
Still dawn, yo.
Awesome video man! I can't imagine how much work you put to make this. Keep up with these deep comparisons, there's no channel that get so much attention to details.
Thank you very much!
Man, these RE comparison videos you made are such a joy to watch! Good job, man.
Thank you very much!
expected shit-level video.
This is by far the most comprehensive video on this subject I've ever seen. Amazing work, Lotus Prince!
Thank you very much!
really admire that you do this stuff, with re2 and the remake here. Its nice to see all this information in a nice collection. And on a side note - that shirt is amazing.
Thank you very much!
great vid, but there are a few things I would like to point out:
-The HD remake gives you the option for full analogue controls, so the character moves in the direction you move the stick. You also don't need to hold a button to run using this scheme
-the original and Dualshock versions of Director's Cut share the same save data. If you ever wanted to move between the two without losing progress
-The person who supposedly wrote the dualshock version's music was found out to be a complete fraud who had ghostwriters do it for him. He also "wrote" the soundtrack to Onimusha: Warlords and that's the reason why the upcoming HD re-release of that game will have a new soundtrack
anyway, great vid. keep up the good work!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like the videos. :)
Lost track of how many times ive watched this. Feels like a warm blanket of memories.
Thank you very much!
This and the RE2 video are nothing short of amazing. You do a very good job of thoroughly explaining thing as well as comparing the differences with actual gameplay. Noting the resolution and framrates are also great. Keep up the good work! I would highly recommend you do some other retro video game comparisons as well for games with multiplatform releases through years
Thank you very much!
I haven't yet done 4, but I didn't know about the two different chainsaw attacks! Thanks for the information, and for your support!
What a fantastic video. This is a real documentary made by a real fan and, having played the games for over 20 years myself, I was really happy to see many new features that I never knew about before :)
Great work and thanks so much for using the terms Remake and Remaster in the correct context!
Thank you very much!
Yet another wonderfully well read and expansive video of detail and information. These are so comfortable to watch. Thank you again, Lotus!
You're welcome, and thank you!
Thanks a lot for your support!
Great commentary. Big fan of the series all the way back to '96. This was a great way to look back at the series. Thanks!
Thank you very much!
All of your Resident Evil analysis videos are incredible. Thank you for the amazing content.
Thank you very much!
i really love these videos. the only games ive played are resident evil 5 and 7 but these videos definitely have me wanting to play these games! Thanks! I look forward to more of your in depth videos.
Thank you very much!
Came here after watching your Resident Evil 2 video. Great content, man. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
You're welcome, and thank you!
Thanks so much for making another one of these. I watched your RE2 video so many times. It's just such a relaxing video to put on and fall asleep to and absorb Resident Evil in my sleep. So so so glad you made more of these types of videos.
You're welcome, and thank you!
