I think this is EA answer to Warzone. And honestly it is a good play. Portal needs to be supported across multiple battlefield titles in the future.
Yes! This is great news and a server browser system is huge because match making is fundamentally broken! Only thing I really want added is a server rental system so the server can stay up. Hopefully they had that in the near future. All and all this is exactly what I wanted to see for BF 2042

I dont know how somone can complain about that. The community is way more powerful than any developer when it comes to creativity bc we are way more people with ideas. Community games are such a great thing and i dont get why people dont see the potential.

Keep in mind that they always make Trailers that are waaaaaaaay better looking than anything ever actually shown of in those titles. If the shooting / maps / bugs / movement / servers are still ass , switching around stuff in the menu of portal will not change this. Everytime they release something or the community plays a new game / beta from them they are mad or it didn´t live up to the hype, they release one trailer, that is edited and cut like hell and everyone and their mother forgot that their shitty marketing and their shitty game before this one still was made by the same people. Dice is only really reall good in one thing, making trailers (shitty reveal trailer for BF5 not included) , the rest really really lacked the last couple of years and even if this looks pretty dope, I wish people wouldn´t be so easily turned. I would rather have them showing of 5 minutes of an actual match than this one minute of fast cut , never happening in a real match because its scripted , bullshit PR gameplay.

Portal is probalby the best thing evermade for BF. Modding is amazing for games they allow the game to live for way longer as the community is not dependent on the Devs for new content as they can make their own.

Its still dependent on the devs they said their willing to add more of each game/ unlisted games probably by poll or other community event, the script editor was way flushed out but no map building.

Cause, sure the ideas people can make is almost unlimited but sooner or later...we will get tired of the maps or factions or weapons and we'll want more.
Personally, I want more BF3 and 1942 maps, vehicles and weapons.

@@jordondeannon5501 Halo has always had a healthy Custom Game community since Forge was introduced into Halo 3. Most people's fond memories of halo came from creating and playing on forge maps. It kept people coming back to the series, which lead to the developers finally adding a dedicated server browser for custom games. It's been done before by Halo and proven to be popular. Dice honestly needs to take a note from Halo and add Map editing to Portal. Also since when has Farcry been known for its multiplayer almost no one plays that game for that reason.

128 players in a city center map, only Sundance specialist allowed and AA LAVs, call it flying squirrel war mode

Theirs an option to use small map borders so you can make a CQ mode only using death match map sizes with 64v64 like ground war in cod.

@@Thomas21408 Hype that evaporated quickly due to the beta/specialists. Sure, the conquest servers will be full, but portal? With thousands of people screwing around with settings creating servers with specific settings they like? You'll be lucky to get a server half full except perhaps in rare circumstances. Now, eventually the community may settle into some sort of "default" portal experience, but until then I wouldn't count on anything more than 50% real players at best.
Give a BF4, BF5 and BF1 as DLC's. This can run for next 10 years.

Don’t think that on the menu, vehicles are capped, that would drain the server resources .

only40 vehicles on 1 server. so 20 vs 20 match. that´s enough.

I just don't understand this statement. There is justified criticism of the specialists ... But especially when you play as a permanent squad, you can coordinate extremely well. Anyone on the squad can pack ammo, healing, or RPGs without being tied to a class.

No, having a choice is the best. You have 3 core modes. If you dont want to play the base 2042 game then just dont. At least the option is still there for you.

My time in Portal is going to be spent merging Battlefield 3 and 4 until perfect arises.
Damn. At first i was a little worried that Battlefield would go the route of modern shooters, but holy hell this sounds like fun now.
Edit: my ideas for what gamemode I'd make is something similar to Hardline's Heist mode.
All this is nice, the thing is, every time I've played a game that has like a map editor or where you can create what you want it always dies. It'll be fun for a bit, but noone will play your game mode. All portal will end up being is, "24/7 "meat grinder map" no snipers, no shotguns, X2 redeploy on vehicles"

I like the idea of portal but it reminds me of farcry servers. You can literally create any map in those games and it is like a Barron wasteland.

Levelcap's portal experience is going to be very different from the average person. Sure his rooms will fill up near instantly, but the average persons lobby is going to get lost in the endless swarm of other custom rooms.
Hopefully there will be upvote/downvote mechanic. Only way i see this being resolved

I'm not going to lie: PORTAL sounds infinitely better than the core BATTLEFIELD 2042 game, maps, modes and, yes, silly "specialists."

this saves the game for me, great. bf3 hardcore conquest experience, 128 players, higher bullet velocity, no specialists, no sliding, no tac sprint, heck i can even disable low magnification scopes on snipers to prevent quickscoping along with all other cod bs. what a time to be alive, indeed.
As far as game rules go, I'd just make HC rules except no IR or NV and friendly fire turned off. Fun for the whole family!

I'm excited to see how much into the minutia we can get with those rules later into the game. [I.E. headshots only by damage modifiers by turning body damage off, accessory limitations for specific weapons, movement speeds with certain weapons (would be useful for zombie modes with knives), or ultra realistic damage.]
Also hoping for map editors in the future.

I've been playing BF4 hardcore servers for the last 6 years so I'll be making servers that resemble that with BF3 assets
Honestly as much as this seems like a powerful tool, I get the feeling in the community's hands it's just going to be a million slight variations on "64v64 Lockers 10k tickets 24x7", or dumb one-off novelty gamemodes. Whereas what I'd really like is, for instance, a replacement for 2042's main gamemodes, but without specialists.
Literally almost every person who has played battlefield for awhile wants exactly what you want. It will definitely be there.

This is the real deal of this game, and something that's actually exciting. Don't like how DICE screwed up the regular mode? At least you can try to fix it. This should give the game substantial lasting power as long as they continue to add to it.
Now the worries left would be not just game performance, but also server stability.
I hope those old era/new era voice lines are real. It'd be cool to hear a soldier freak out seeing a futuristic tank.

It's the one huge negative with portal. For longevity it's going to need a RSP (rental server program)

Yes it looks like you can make some AMAZING servers, but probably like BFV community games, a LOT of them will go unnoticed.. So unless you have some way to advertise them, or are a content creator with a large following, I think it will be mostly vanilla servers that will be populated..

Itd be good to have the ability to disable specualist abilities but keep the customization/lock certain gadgets to certain specialists, i dont think its that hard to add compared to all we can do here.
I know people are gonna be disabling specialist, and a lot of customization. But anyone else notice, the live gameplay in the portal portion is era vs era, but 2042 was always the one example and specialist wasnt disabled/always shown in portal. Like wouldnt you want to show you can disable them since a lot of people were complaining, it's like dice has wet dreams about specialist and can't stop loving them lol

They've said you can only have two teams max. The closest you could get to a BR would be something with solos/f4a.
Hardcore mode:
All factions (no 2042 specialist gadgets)
All maps
All vehicles X2
All weapons
Best mode ever….

Here's hoping the AI options are as in depth as the rest. I am hoping that we can set patrol paths and priority spots for them to defend/fall back to. Maybe a lil map editor tooo 🤞
1. I hope we'll be able to see certain settings before joining a server. Things like movement mechanics and 'aim assist zoom snap'...
2. Would love to be able to adjust vehicle physics. Desert Combat helicopters anyone?
3. Looking at the sheer amount of possibilities in the logic editor had me wondering about the number of bugs/exploits that will be uncovered.
4. All that aside, I'm really excited for this mode. Pretty sure this will be my focus on launch.
I would guess the rules editor is going to be more restrained in phase 1. But as it grows hopefully they will add different things. The example you used was Sandstorm; it'd be dope to be able to set your own control locations, a certain action or actions to take it over, an event once you do take it over, and an unlock of the next location once the event is completed. I don't expect that on day 1, but eventually.
Does this also mean that we have the best “test server” we could’ve hoped for? Could I fill a server with AI and go in by myself and practice flying or using certain weapon load outs?

Bad Company’s movement was top notch in my opinion. The restrictions allowed for tracking and punished poor decisions. Modern shooters are all twitchy and you can move in un natural ways.
Amen. Glad somebody else agrees. "Clunky" movement like BC2's was really more towards realistic movement than clunky. ADAD spam and twitchy spin shots are not my cup of tea.
Having the option to put Sundance wingsuit ability on everyone is a most. You imagining a squad of WW2 germans with outstretched arms (and obviously no wing suit visual) gliding from a hill would be terrifying.

Portal could be the saving grace for BF2042. I was regretting my preorder after playing the Beta, and then this comes along and it's piqued my interest once again.

Can’t wait for this title. Have not been this excited for a Battlefield game since BF4 on Next Gen.
My goal with 2042 is to make a Playlist / Server for the Community that is essentially Bad Company 3 since Dice won’t give it to us I figured “Fine, I’ll do it Myself”
And I’m sure many fans will do their best to bring their own take on Bad Company 3 and bring it to 2042!
I am more excited for this feature than anything else BF2042 tbh.. and with Bots it means my servers will be occupied until the community joins.
Can’t wait to go back to Classics / Fan Favorite maps and get my hands on classics / fan favorite weaponry.
I fell in love with the XM8 in BFBC2 and that love carried on into Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 when it was featured / renamed to the fan favorite M8A1. Love it for the looks and the versatility of the weapon as it goes from AR, to a SMG, - a LMG. Can’t wait to finally get it back.

So hyped for portal prob gonna play it more than dices multiplayer
in Australia, dlc maps/custom servers all end up empty in a few months from launch. maybe a year at most. the last of player base are funneled into one or two servers just to get a full game.
this idea is great, but I feel there will be a lot of split of the player base, which after a while will make it hard to find a full server, depending where you live.
I wonder how many BF4 but in 2042 I'll see.
Well. This convinced me to lock in my preorder immediately. This was the final bit of persuasion that I needed.

It's basically double work for them if they sell skins, so they won't do it

@@yaago Yeah I love Specialists, it gives more options for the player. I mean, who doesn't want more gameplay options? I also love Traditional Classes to of course, and they're still in Portal. So in the words of Hannah Montana "YOU GET THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS"

Feel like this is guna kill 2042 for most ppl. It seems like a majority of the spoken wana go back and play the older games. Especially with how they changed up a lot (specialist) in 2042 and im down with it lol

I get it. Dice probably saw their playerbase scattered throughout all of their older games and made it so that we're all on one platform. Easier to monetize too, if anything. Makes sense.
