It’s not too bad. It certainly has a more intimate feeling, but it really lacks depth of content and things to look up to. If DICE could some way support the mode by adding deeper elements like those present in Tarkov or Hunt then it could have a chance. But other than that Hazard just feels like a TDM with bots on an open map.
I’m sure they will update this mode. It’s a live service game and it’s a big part of it. No way they don’t make changes and add new elements to the game.
While I agree with you that this could make for an interesting portal mode, I’m starting to get worried about everything being able to be “fixed” with portal. I think it’s a little scary/lazy to just leave it up to the community to create and coordinate which modes to have. It’s almost as if dice created Portal not to give the community a new game mode but a means to cover their asses if the base game is lacklustre.

What Hazard Zone needed was an extensive progression system. There just isn't enough incentive in the reward system, or an element of high risk vs reward tension providing those sweaty palm moments. Building towards an end goal in mind upgrading your own base of operations in the Exodus
if the gameplay loop is boring or not very motivating it may help to have a progression system to get people engaged just for the grind... I really think it needed both but firstly a great gameplay loop... ideally with a bigger goal to work towards... I don't understand why they didnt manage to get either right... it's kind of dead on arrival
@@Vidyadude As a matter of fact, I've invested about 100+ hours into Hunt Showdown. Very rewarding once you master the mechanics it has a very steep learning curve for new players. Hazard Zone is nowhere near hardcore, so essentially it's a simplified version of Tarkov
What's the progression in normal mode or portal beside unlocking weapons? Nothing. Hazard has currency, it motivates me to get better guns than other players and be rich. so the only worthwhile game mode
fixes to some issues: - more difficult AI - longer rounds (extraction 1 not being so extremely soon) - everyone spawning at the same time - data drive spotting seems frustrating, remove that aspect - make money/items way more valuable and losses of said money/items more impactful
Good list right here! Hopefully they can figure out secondary objectives to add. Seems like right now folks can make tons of credits to buy full loadouts way too easily which makes the impact non-existent.

Or a ranking system where you play against players with similar rank so that you don't constantly have to play against maxed-out players. Also the mode needs to be F2P to stay alive.

This is mostly because almost all opponents are AI controlled bots... And even if they werent, its just not that type of a competitive game, you die you respawn, its all good, what you do doesnt even effect the outcome of the game that much anyway since its very large scale battle... So its a chill game, shoot some bots, get shot respawn repeat...

I see no reason why dice/ea doesn’t make this mode available for free to everyone. It could be great as an entry to a wider audiences. Unless they are so worried about cheaters or competing with their own franchise(apex).
Lvl makes it look so easy. I played this mode all night last night. Plenty of times i bought good gear only to be wiped at very first data drive by real players then had to start next round with just the free crummy gear. When we won, it felt like winning a BR. Will be back.
Honestly looks like a minor gamemode to perhaps practice or just enjoy a more squad oriented gamemode with friends, without the cluster fuck of conquest.
It's the same in hunt showdown. Ai is just there as a sound trap and to annoy you in fights. In tarkov you actually can get head eyes by an ai pretty easily. Seems like they went with the hunt showdown route.

I know people complain about progression but honestly as someone who has played a lot of hunt showdown I can tell you that if the gameplay is engaging, progression is always secondary. There isn’t much to gain in hunt showdown cause it always resets after a prestige but it’s so fun to keep playing with friends. That being said I do think they should add legendary or Harder to get cosmetics but that are the same color pallet. The mode seems like a good take on the pve, pvp extraction genre and it can always be improved with constructive feedback. The game also looks really nice.
I like everything you wrote and agree. People are so quick to be pessimistic, that they don't even comprehend the possibilities of things. Like judgement and critical thinking just becomes cloudy.

after watching a few videos from some of the creators that have been given early access to this mode!!! it seems most are not happy with what they are seeing!!! i wonder if this will change once the rest of the community manage to get hands on with it !!! could it be that the players you was against are all high level players so it made the skill level of those games very high ?? i think it needs to be given a few weeks before people give their complete review on the mode...just a thought 🤔 p.s love the content ❤

Ive noticed this problem during the beta and again during this video while you were firing the SVT... the bullet velocity is WAY to slow, if someone is running sideways goodluck hitting them
at the very least we know that with portal we will still have fully populated noshar canals tdm servers with power abusing admins 10 years from now... ahhh... such nostalgia.
You can run a full kit for like 4 or 5 games. you die quicker than call of duty's kill time and the economy isn't really there. What I mean by this is when you're in a firefight and you die, you don't feel the tarkov depression when you've lost all your stuff. Tbh, I hope the game mode gets worked on. I don't wanna have a random game mode sitting there untouched like battlefield 5's firestorm.

100% excellent! Fuck the battle royale this is exactly what we wanted. Shorter TTK (just as much as base game) Dont need them explaining things on map, finding it ourselves is for the win. Additionally, only 1 user to pick one specialization makes the game more tactical. I know LevelCap has different opinion, but thats okay.
I think they should change the teams numbers to something like 15 -20 squads per round while maintaining 2 extractions per round and something like ground loot, the DM Credit should be only to unlock skills and gadgets, weapons should be found like ground loot, this would certainly make it way more chaotic and fun!
I would like to see this be more like Tarkov where you go in with a mission, you can find better equipment in game, players and AI are a threat, trading with merchants, etc.
This mode looks pretty good reminds me of a more tactical Blackout/Warzone. As a Division player, sounds like this is what Division Heartland is shooting for.
I'm ngl this looks really fun imo. With a couple tweaks this could be amazing. It would be cool if looting was a part of the game and you started with nothing but a handgun like in BR. In conjunction with that they should make it a bit more risky, make things more expensive. Other than that most of the other issues I see are fairly small and will probably be fixed in a couple updates once DICE gets our feedback. It would be really sick if they added it to Portal so we could tweak and play around with it a bit, like reduce AI + increase player count
Hunt has so much atmosphere. The npcs can be incredibly deadly when already fighting other players. The bosses take time and skill to take down in order to react. This looks boring. Bots are stupid and distant and satellites just fall for the picking
The fix is to roam the map and fight npcs for intel of the crash site. There should only be 1-2 satellites per map. Forcing everyone to fight to the death for these things, add money cashes on the map, and literally copy hunts progression as well as Tarkovs traders quests and crafting
certainly better than many were making it out to be, i think it's an ok start. still very empty but if they add some more things to work toward i think it could be decent. definitely not a competitor to warzone for a lot of reasons, but i might play it a little
I dont know why you say the mode wasnt good it seams pretty reasonably good and better than some warzone game ive done in the past ... When peoples get use to the map and all it might become even better . but i hope they will make variants of the mode or a proper Mini BR that you start with your loadout right away no RNJ stuff at least with the full maps

Hazard zone should be in portal, we could do things like zombies vs humans where the humans have to get to the extraction after retrieving stuff while being chased down by zombies.
Yeah this doesn't look like it will have staying power. This looks like it could've easily been a portal mode that DICE made its own thing so they can say they have a BR mode.
There's not enough players on the map to go bigger...it's better for this certain mode to keep it medium size whereas 128 player games with full on combat vehicles can use bigger maps.
I just don't get what the incentive to playing this over Tarkov or Hunt Showdown is. It just looks like a less developed gamemode compared to them for a 60€ price tag

Yes. I was expecting someone to say something about cheating. Because it's one of the nature of a free to play game ; "easy to cheat". How about BF1 and BFV? Are those games are free? No! So, those games don't have cheaters right? Wrong! They are very well populated by cheaters. I play on Asian servers. I know this pain very well. Cheaters will always find a way to cheat. But I heard BF2042 will feature a "real anti cheat", so I hope that it can control cheating problems. To give you a better understanding. Now I only have 2 options to play. BF4 or BF1. Why? Well, BF4 is banned in China. If you know, you know. Here in Asia there's a famous quotes. "Not all cheaters are Chinese, but most of the cheaters are". It means, the game has way less cheaters. But bf1 isn't banned in China, right? Yes. But the beauty of the true RSP (rental server program) saved the fate, because admin has full control. Unlike in BFV. There's no true RSP, so cheaters are everywhere. I've spent 750 hours of my life playing BFV, and finally gave up because of this. I only play bf1 now.
This whole game seems like Portal with filler attached to it. So low effort with barely any content outside of that mode. Real shame what Battlefield has become.

specialists seem to work well for hazard zone. core multiplayer should have had classes (medic, support, recon, engineer) though
The specialists were built for hazard zone but since they wanted to separate portal and all out warfare they included specialists in all out warfare

I played a little bit last night. Pretty fun, got a couple squad wipes, but you need a vehicle to win I feel like.

Similar to The Divisions dark zone extraction game mode.
The division survival mode is only my favorite. It was damn near perfect IMO. Many good rounds on that shit.

Minor hiccup in the editing towards the end(the clip of the truck getting merc'd get looped) , but overall very satisfying video.
If this were just a battlefield reskin of Hunt, it would actually be very good,

You can run a full kit for like 4 or 5 games. you die quicker than call of duty's kill time and the economy isn't really there. What I mean by this is when you're in a firefight and you die, you don't feel the tarkov depression when you've lost all your stuff. Tbh, I hope the game mode gets worked on. I don't wanna have a random game mode sitting there untouched like battlefield 5's firestorm.
@@ZinkyStinky yeah but all of those are tweaking numbers and not like redesigning the entire gamemode. But agreed Hunt wouldn't be hunt if you didn't sit in a corner pondering if you should leave and save your decent gun and hunter or try and steal the bounty of someone.
I can see some potential with it. It needs work, and that is were it all falls apart. If Dice doesn't smell an immediate success, then they won't dedicate resources to it.

I think they should change the teams numbers to something like 15 -20 squads per round while maintaining 2 extractions per round and something like ground loot, the DM Credit should be only to unlock skills and gadgets, weapons should be found like ground loot, this would certainly make it way more chaotic and fun!

I'm ngl this looks really fun imo. With a couple tweaks this could be amazing. It would be cool if looting was a part of the game and you started with nothing but a handgun like in BR. In conjunction with that they should make it a bit more risky, make things more expensive. Other than that most of the other issues I see are fairly small and will probably be fixed in a couple updates once DICE gets our feedback. It would be really sick if they added it to Portal so we could tweak and play around with it a bit, like reduce AI + increase player count
I wish it was more tarkov like, starting with a set load out but also looting other players and keeping their loot, selling or keeping it.
Hunt has so much atmosphere. The npcs can be incredibly deadly when already fighting other players. The bosses take time and skill to take down in order to react. This looks boring. Bots are stupid and distant and satellites just fall for the picking
The fix is to roam the map and fight npcs for intel of the crash site. There should only be 1-2 satellites per map. Forcing everyone to fight to the death for these things, add money cashes on the map, and literally copy hunts progression as well as Tarkovs traders quests and crafting

Having to constantly determine whether the people shooting at you are AI or not is the biggest slap to the face ever.
To be fair though, I don't think bots last super long in any game.

When peoples get use to the map and all it might become even better . but i hope they will make variants of the mode or a proper Mini BR that you start with your loadout right away no RNJ stuff at least with the full maps

There's not enough players on the map to go bigger...it's better for this certain mode to keep it medium size whereas 128 player games with full on combat vehicles can use bigger maps.

i think i will stick with the hackers in tarkov. that seems really underwhelming. Especially annoying is the fact that you can't go in solo you are stuck with 3 hypernoobs dying 10 seconds into the round most likely

Yes. I was expecting someone to say something about cheating. Because it's one of the nature of a free to play game ; "easy to cheat". How about BF1 and BFV? Are those games are free? No! So, those games don't have cheaters right? Wrong! They are very well populated by cheaters. I play on Asian servers. I know this pain very well. Cheaters will always find a way to cheat. But I heard BF2042 will feature a "real anti cheat", so I hope that it can control cheating problems.
To give you a better understanding.
Now I only have 2 options to play. BF4 or BF1. Why? Well, BF4 is banned in China. If you know, you know. Here in Asia there's a famous quotes. "Not all cheaters are Chinese, but most of the cheaters are". It means, the game has way less cheaters. But bf1 isn't banned in China, right? Yes. But the beauty of the true RSP (rental server program) saved the fate, because admin has full control. Unlike in BFV. There's no true RSP, so cheaters are everywhere. I've spent 750 hours of my life playing BFV, and finally gave up because of this. I only play bf1 now.
They really should make this game mode free to play.

I feel like the map doesn't really work for the concept of the game mode. Overall, it looked fairly boring and bland from this look.
This whole game seems like Portal with filler attached to it. So low effort with barely any content outside of that mode. Real shame what Battlefield has become.
