Perfect portable for a bedroom (with a closed door) to use a small heater during the night for sleeping!

Fascinating seeing what's underneath the floor boards. How things were put together and what was used. And how it stood the test of time for so long. It'll be nice to get it all cleaned out and properly insulated. Loving this! Happy New Year Marcus. May 2024 be an abundant year for you.

7:56 - if you'd use the needle nose plyers to hold the nail in place, things would go easier .. just a tip 😉
BTW the sawdust from under the floor is really good stuff for a composting toilet .. no need to throw it away.
All the best for the upcoming new 2024 .. stay safe and well .. see you soon!! ✌

Keep up the good work. The first window might take a weekend, but the last window will take a few hours. The journey of learning.

Your window panes are coming along nicely. Even in these early stages, you have a good sense of how to angle the putty. Have you tried making the putty into a snake like shape before you press it into the frame? It's faster than dabbing many times and leaves no gaps. And to finish the surface of the putty once it's as smooth as you can get it with the putty knife, you can wet your finger just slightly, gently draw it along the length of the putty, and do the final smoothing that way. Not only does it look good, but will last longer (no holes for ice/water to get into, and expand and contract with the cold and heat). Also, they must have those little metal tabs where you are (or you could order them online), for holding the glass into the frame. Instead of a tiny thin nail, these are small flat pieces of metal (about one centimeter wide) that have a right angle at one end and a point at the other. You can usually push them into the frame with a putty knife, parallel to the glass, so no hammer involved. Or if the wood of the frame is too hard for that, you can tap on the putty knife with a small hammer. And they're much easier than the tiny nails to remove if you need to. I'm so impressed with your restoring the windows - they will keep the original character of the house. Well done!

Is that saw dust under the floor? That would be great to add to the gardens.

Your 'cabin' is better built than modern houses and I trust it more as it is than a finished new build by far. The size of your floorboards, terrific!! They will last you forever and 2 days. I'm positive that as you continue working that what to do with spaces, such as in the barn, will reveal the purpose and need to you. I'm a stickler for house first, the only thing that would make me sway is to get buildings, like your guest house, to make it safe and not in danger of further deterioration, then back to the house. Not necessarily to completely finish the house but enough that it's comfortable, 4 season livable and anything left is merely cosmetic. When we did my place my motto was 'we don't live in the shop'. So glad you bought it as someone who is cherishinv & respecting what it is, how old it is and what it has to offer rather than someone who wants to rip everything out BECAUSE it's old. I couldn't stand to watch that.

It is interesting to see the step by step renovaton of your house. We learn a lot from it and i hope you continue to produce these videos so we can see the progress. I am also interested in seeing the final transformation of the house and how you decorate your house. I also realize how much work it all is but in the end when it is finished (which it is still some time away) you ll be so proud of what you did. All the best

You really lucked out with this Swedish minimalism that you have only 2 large panes to fix. Here in the US we have 6-8 small panes on top and one large in the bottom. Insane amount of work to fix those😀

Depending on how far the drive is, you could easily keep the charge up with your trip to and from the cabin. Will also be great getting power to areas outside for the odd jobs. Great to have, coming from South Africa with daily power outages I know.👍

In America we use glazing points. You push them in with your putty knife so you don’t accidentally break the glass. Although it does happen if you use too much pressure. I love the old wood windows. So many here pull them out and add those vinyl ones. Happy New Year!

Idea for under stairs... I would use it as a coat closet and for any flow over from kitchen for big gadgets or those screwdrivers and such you always seem to need in a house. There are never enough closet space. You may have addressed it after the chapter I'm watching, I'm catching up with s9me b8nge watching! Love that whole place so much!

Are you able to use closed cell foam insulation? You would have a higher R-value, with less thickness. And it's waterproof.
