Yeah, well you can always stop and continue later. In the end if you spend 1,5h watching, you spend 1,5h watching, it's the same 1,5h you spend when watching 1,5h on youtube shorts, it's just less trash.
Very nice video! I have 1 more tip for taking pallets apart, lift it up and let it fall on 2 opposite corners. To make the nails more loose😊 much less chance of boards splitting
I just had to comment. #1, You have got to be the most entertaining wood crafter I follow on RUclips. #2, You have an amazing talent. I am absolutely blown away with your pieces. ( I work with pallets, discarded wood, and firewood logs in my crafting also!) and #3, you are so “down to earth” with your videos, and how you go about getting your projects done. Have an amazing day, and you absolutely have a loyal follower in me. 😎🤘🏻😎🤘🏻😎
What a pleasure to hear a Danish accent! I moved from Seattle to Copenhagen for a postdoc, and got to know a lovely family there. In a foreign land with no tools, I got itchy fingers, and I did little repairs and odd jobs on their farm. Love the Danish sensibility, and the Danish sense of humor.
It's great to hear from someone who has enjoyed Denmark personally! Those little repairs and odd jobs are often the start of something bigger. Glad you appreciate our Danish ways and humor!
Hello from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 , my name is Evan and I’m 15 years old. I found your channel recently and I love your content, I wish you the best in life, and may your father rest in peace.
Whaaa?! I just noticed (53:55) that you had turned an old cable spool into a work surface and with a vice no less! That deserves another story Jesper! Kudos to your work alongside your daughter. My daughter remembers building a small tea table with me when she was a child. Nothing like pictures of a smiling child wearing coveralls next to a wood working project. Priceless! Utah, USA
Man built a table out of a pallet and then went "Why not a house next?" And if that isn't the biggest mood when it comes to discovering a new hobby I don't know what is.
hello Jesper! i'm Sara, 20, from the south of Brazil! my father works as a carpenter since he was very young, so i always loved everything involving woodwork and all the things you can make with it. when i saw you and your daughter working together, it reminded me of when i was little and wanted to help him! i'm sorry for your loss, i'm sure your father is very proud of you. i absolutely loved watching you improve your work day after day, thank you for sharing with us! i would love to see more, keep moving forward!
What’s up Jesper I’m a 15 yr old boy from Colorado USA. You have inspired me to make several projects and post some on RUclips. Love your content. Thanks for being you!
Kia Ora, My mum is from Denmark (first language I ever spoke), Dad is from Invercargill New Zealand. Brother is born in Plymouth England. I'm born in Grimsby England. Dad's a classic wooden boat builder, mum was working at the London Seamans Mission at the time. After he'd circumnavigated (and decided on religion half way through) on the yacht he'd built, he was over there in England. Met mum and blah blah. Bought a 78ft wooden fishing boat in Denmark, named it King David and converted it to liveaboard ketch. Sailed to the Falkland Islands where they set up the Falkland Islands Lighthouse Seamans Mission and ran it for around 6yrs. Then we all packed up and came here to Whangarei NZ where we've been ever since. My wife is from Erie, Pennsylvania and we've got a 6yr old son. Can't have any more though seeing as she's got an extremely rare blood disorder/cancer/concoction of sorts. I used to do crane/trucks etc, but after she got sick and I got bored of sitting around I decided to take the plunge and finally study towards something I really want to do, so am now in my second year of a Bsc of Applied Science in Environmental Management with the dream of getting a MsC or a PhD in either mycology, freshwater ecology or biology, or marine biology or ecology. I love working with wood in my spare time, and have an original combination Coronet Major lathe which I'm hoping to get pieces for. Other than woodworking, I'll be anywhere near, on, or in the sea. Keep up the good mahi Jesper!
Kia Ora, Adam! Your family's journey sounds incredible. Wishing you all the best with your studies and health challenges. Keep cherishing those moments of woodworking and sea adventures!
Im a university student in Berlin, from Sweden. Honestly one of the best documentaries I've seen on RUclips. The editing is perfect, and the narration and story telling is so fitting and resonating. Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity a little bit.
Kind of funny that I'm a Computer Science student finishing up his last semester, yet here I am, following the RUclips algorythm, 15 minutes into a video about woodworking before realizing that I'm completely mesmerized and enchanted by your work. Really good job with this! I'm going to keep watching this off-and-on again whenever the world wears down my optimism. I love that you and your daughter are working on these projects together, and both with buzz cuts! Two beautiful human beans just having fun with wood, fantastic.
That’s the beauty of RUclips, isn't it? Leading you to unexpected places. Glad my videos could offer some respite during your studies. Keep pushing through that last semester, and thanks for the kind words!
@@JesperMakes "A man who works with his mind must rest with his hands". In that sense, wood working is the perfect hobby for any software engineer. Its kind of hard to get into it when you live in an apt. though...
Jesper, my name is Jason from Arkansas in the USA! I too lost my mother and father in 2022, I’ve done woodworking for years! My problem is that I don’t know how to use social media! Watching you videos gives me hope that I can learn how to show my work to the world!! Thank you!!
hi Jason, I’m so sorry for your loss. sharing your work online is easier than it seems-just start small, and you’ll find your way. glad my videos could give you some hope! keep building, you’ve got this!
Hello Jesper. I am a 63 year old female and disabled veteran. I live in Columbia, South Carolina . USA. have a lot of free time when I am not working in my football size backyard. I have been wanting to start a hobby with woodworking. I have enjoyed your video. It is a great inspiration for me. Thank you for sharing your work.
Hello Terry, I'm truly honored to inspire you. Starting with woodworking can be very rewarding, and I'm excited for what you'll create in your backyard!
Hi Terry, I'ma 63 yr young woman (😉) from France and I too have started to take an interest in woodworking. Still at the stage of learning and tool collecting. Hope you're having as much fun as I am.
Hello Jesper!! My name is Jonathan and I am from Sweden 🇸🇪 I found out this video 1 day ago and already stopped after 30min to make my own coffee table from pallets! You are such an inspiration ❤ May your father rest in peace and may you keep doing fantastic work like this! While the glue is drying I’m keep watching your video. 🫶🏼
Jonathan from Sweden here. I'm in a community in Ecuador and since last year for the first time in my 31yo life i am doing various woodworking projects. It feels really natural as a human to do this. Lovely Danish take of yours on this topic!
Greetings from Turkey, My name is Furkan and I am 30 years old. I work as a software engineer in a game development studio.Woodworking is truly a wonderful skill and passion. I'm delighted to have discovered your channel. Your videos are both entertaining and informative. They've inspired me to start my own woodworking projects. I'm looking forward to more content! Thank you, and I wish you continued success.
I work in IT too, and started out building retaining walls, then moved onto a lean-to roof for the side of my house so I could sit out of the rain to have a coffee. It's so rewarding building tactical things after working with computers all day.
Hi Jesper! Sorry to hear about your dad. Mine passed in 2021 & it hit me really hard. I feel you. Both my parents are gone now & im in my mid 30's still 😢. Have watched all your videos, loved this one too! Your commentary is the best. Im from Hampshire UK. I just finished building my kids the most epic jungle gym for a fraction of the cost of buying. Mainly with reclaimed wood. So solid! My dad would have loved it. Keep moving forward 👍 much love
Hello from Denmark to Hampshire! I’m truly sorry about your loss; it's tough losing parents. I’m touched that my videos could bring you some comfort. Your jungle gym project sounds amazing-your dad would surely have been proud. Keep building and stay strong!
Hi jasper, I’m from Texas in the USA 🇺🇸 and I’m just getting started with my journey as a wood worker. Kinda of late in life honestly, at 31 years old. I’ve so far built so saw horses out of pallets, a pantry insert and a bed side table.
So despite my wife helping to come up with the idea for this video, I had put off watching Jesper's Backyard Builds for a few weeks, as I wanted to give it the time it deserved and mistakenly thought, _ "Oh! This will be another compilation of build videos I have seen before so, no rush." _ *Oh how wrong I was.* This morning I came home from 12 hours of night shift and my baby daughter had kept my wife up the whole night cranky daddy had left her once again. So I took her to let my wife sleep and together we settled into the calming tones of our favourite Vikiing Woodworker. She was asleep in my arms in 5 minutes, and in that time I had already worked out this was not just another compilation video... it was art. Thank you Jesper, you are inspirational in the true sense of the word. (Meaning I fully intend to stea.... learn from your editing style and completely rethink how I want to present my next long-format video.) 😅🤔
Firstl, thank you for coming up with the idea for the backyard builds at all. And wow, thank you for such a touching story and the incredible compliment! It's wonderful to hear how the video has been a part of your family time and inspired you creatively. I'm honored!
Hello! Beginning wood worker from Northern California, USA. I can’t tell you how much your video helped me on my own journey! Between what tools are necessary and beginning techniques to master and build on! The number one thing that your videos provide to me is priceless, and it’s something that every person trying to learn anything needs, and that is CONFIDENCE!! Thank you Jesper!
Hi Jesper! I'm from Kropyvnytsky, Ukraine. For me woodworking is like a small hobby, and your work is one of the factors that inspired to continue doing new things.😺
These are the videos people want to see. We're tired of seeing videos where the person has an entire workshop with the most high tech tools saying "Here's how to make this!" Also stop sponsoring Betterhelp, they're known to sell data and not hire professionals. For that reason a lot of youtubers have stopped accepting sponsors from them. Also, I can't imagine how it feels. But he would've wanted you to be happy.
Appreciate the feedback! I strive to keep things relatable with tools and projects that feel accessible. And thanks for your kind words-it means a lot. Cheers! 🛠️
My personal experience: 99% of building works can be done with general hand tools at home. You purchase expensive power tools for going pro and commercial.
I love pallets so much that my friends joke about getting me a van full of pallets for my birthday. My way of processing them is with a multitool, cutting the nails between the boards. It's very fast, keeps the boards at good length and the nails give a good rustic look.
That sounds like a perfect birthday gift for a pallet enthusiast! Your method with a multitool sounds efficient-keeps the rustic look while making the most of the materials.
Hi Jasper, I'm from Canada. It has long been a dream of mine to build a log cabin with my sons. I am the mother of four city boys, so I don't know when that will happen, but they are all handy so its not an impossibility. Very inspirational to see you teaching your daughter how to use tools and showing her that building things is not out of reach for her.
@rosetealatte9282 Hi there! Building a log cabin sounds like a wonderful dream to share with your sons. It’s never too late to start planning, and it’s fantastic that they are handy!
Jesper, I'm a Critical Care Paramedic in the UK. My job is such high pressure it's just insane. Watching your videos gives me a break from the death and suffering I have to deal with for 14 hours a day. I wish I had your skills so I could take a different path. Namaste x
thank you for sharing that, your work sounds intense. I’m honored my videos give you a bit of peace, keep doing what you do, it makes a huge difference!
I have had this on my watchlist for a few days. The one-hour-and-a-half is daunting, but I bought your promise and must say: I wish it was three hours. Great ton, humor, and awesome woodworking (even with the mistakes mentioned 😅). I look forward to your future videos.
Hey Bryce! Thanks for the shoutout from South Africa! I'm glad my enthusiasm comes through and adds a bit of joy to your viewing experience. Stay tuned for more!
I am not a RUclipsr but I am starting out in woodworking. I was a potter for 10 years but couldn’t make it work so after a lot of prayer God led me to woodwork. I am partially sighted and live in Wales UK. It has only been a few months since starting since April last summer until the end of summer I sold Planters and had many custom orders but after the summer ended I kind of left it aside as it got very cold, but now I am Trying to build some inside furniture. It is definitely a challenge especially when you don’t have all the tools to make it easier, but we have some ingenuity which I see you have a lot of. I am slowly making it work. I really enjoyed your video. I watched it from the start to the end. You are very blessed to live in a place that you do and have the resources that you have. I have taken inspiration from your poly Tunnel as my sister needs a new one and I like the idea of the Japanese wood finish. I’ve also been thinking about this finish for Planters that I make. You’ve got a subscribe from me. This video was amazing and very inspirational. God bless you my friend. Keep on going. Jon
Hey Jasper! I‘m a 29 year old guy from center Germany, awesome work and I love to see your passion, it‘s amazing and inspiring. I learned the carpentry-job for 3 years and you are the best example, that you can do and learn everything just if you have the heart for it!! Thanks a lot, I will stay. May your dad rest in peace, looking down at you and your family and smile.
Hello from Germany, Johnny! Your words truly warm my heart. It's amazing to hear from someone skilled in the craft. Keep that passion alive, and thank you for staying with us.
Hi from Germany! I've been watching your journey as a woodworker since the beginning and really like the way you narrate your videos, let alone their content.
Hi back at you from Germany! It's been a ride, hasn't it? Thanks for sticking with me since the beginning and enjoying the narration and content! Cheers to many more videos!
All the way in Ontario ,Canada here ! Been thinking about starting my own business in my sisters garage along with her side business of furniture restoration. Ive been laid off since Aug of 23' and it doesn't look like the truck rotor manufacturing business is doing too well now . I may have to swallow my pride and make once again another carreer change , ughh.... Your videos are really helping me be positive about what to do at this point. Thanks Jesp!
Ok, I'm 15 min in and I can confirm - it's really entertaining. I already laught when you said about measuring (in a hateful way xD) and project approved by wife haha!
Hey Jesper! I'm from Detroit, Michigan in the USA. As a new woodworker, you are a big inspiration for me. I wish we could be friends outside of youtube! You seem so kind.
I'm Julie, from Tasmania, Australia. I'm 68, and time has not been good for my eyesight, so many crafts are not possible for me now. Luckily, I found your channel, so I can live vicariously with your crafting. Thank you.
as someone with no woodworking interest, I love this video. I love the fact that you are also using this as a way to do things with your family. The fact that you were making the cabin with your daughter just for some reason puts a big ol smile on my face every time there is footage of it. Reminds me of when my father owned a house building company and would take me and my brother to the sites and we would help with some stuff, as well as be absolutely reckless kids and play on the roofs of houses and what-not. I hope some day to be able to do something similar with children of my own. Amazing work brother, even if you had to join a few wood-related cults to get here!
That's such a wonderful memory to share, thank you! I'm glad our project could bring some joy and nostalgia your way. Here's to creating those moments with your future kids too!
Seems there are a tonne of Aussies down under in these here comments! ~~ I'm Pat, I currently live in 'Straya and after a tough time working and being let go in a video games industry job (coincidentally working remotely in Denmark) and being able to then visit your wonderful country and exploring around the northern section it pushed me to get out of the house more often! So I took some time for myself to work on myself and also to learn and gain some new hobbies or skills (and perhaps to film myself learning and gaining any new skills, as a young padawan does :D) and so far, while it's just starting, you've been hella inspiring Jesper. It's so good to join and find another new hobby.. to explore!
Hey Pat, it sounds like you’ve had quite the journey! Thrilled to hear that you’re finding inspiration and diving into new hobbies. Keep exploring and creating, and thanks for sharing your story!
Hey, I'm Sander 28 from Norway. Just bought my first house and cant wait to start slow with woodwork, your video was so inspiring and entertaining! Can't wait to see the rest of the video and more of your content. Thanks for sharing your journey :)
Hey Sander, congrats on the new house! Starting with woodworking can be really rewarding; it sounds like you have some exciting times ahead. Thanks for the kind words, and I hope you find as much joy in woodworking as I have!
as someone who is basically financially crippled to ever own land/property and will never (or atleast being very unlikely) be able to do such awesome projects i am always proud of people that actually do something with all the space they have. Nothing worse than seeing people with a huge property and then just dont do anything with it.
Pedantic detail: At 23:45 you said you used a half lap joint on the cabin frame. That is actually a joint that is almost never talked about in modern times called a scarf joint! In the Medieval period these joint were often made overly complex by craftsmen as a way of signing their work. A carpenter would become known by the specific way they made their scarf joints. In many old churches in England (and presumably elsewhere in Europe) you can find a completely unnecessary scarf joint placed inconspicuously in the corner among the rafters. This is how carpenters whose names have been lost to history are known to have built several different buildings! In 400 years, someone will find your cabin and be able to ascertain that it was built by Jesper, the famous man whose signature scarf joints were so confident he did not bother worrying about lateral forces or or horizontal tension!!! (j/k - I love your videos and your work is beautiful! It's inspiring and genuinely touching to see someone so willing to tackle such a huge project with their daughter)
Thanks, Sara, for that detailed insight! I love learning more about these historical techniques and the story about scarf joints is fascinating. Imagine being remembered centuries later through your unique craftsmanship! Thanks for enjoying the videos and for the wonderful support!
I saw that joint in my grandfathers barn, built by my great grandfather. It was on rafters that spanned 40 ft, I was adding a outdoor kitchen on my house and it was 21 ft long, I used that same joint to make those rafters.
Great video! We are the Hancock family who agree with all of you reduce, reuse, and recycle characteristics! That is how we built all of our garden boxes and chicken coops, etc. We are little homestead on Oahu, Hawaii. Thanks for all that you shared :)
HI Jesper "the zen woodworker", greetings from Italy!! I always love watching your woodworking journeys and appreciate very much the positive thinking coming from your words. Ciao!!
I'm Jake, i live outside of Chicago and i love spending time watching your videos with my girlfriend Amanda. You give us so many ideas and I hope you continue to give inspiration to myself and others. I appreciate you.
Hello Jesper. I’m from Transylvania, living in United Kingdom ( Hungarian). Your video is very unique in the best possible way, it has soul, a term which I never thought I’d use for a RUclips footage. I’m subscribed to a handful of woodworking creators but your content is more personal and warm than the rest. Very impressed also by your lovely daughter’s dedication and love for the wood passion you two share, knowing first hand how such , mostly male dominated endeavours can be difficult, I’m always glad that more women take up these tasks. As simple as it may seem, I was super impressed by your workbench design. I wish you and your family a lot of health, the happiness part already comes through thru your videos. Merry Christmas and many happy new years to you and your lovely family
Hello from Texas in the US. I'm sorry about your father passing, I'm currently going through the same thing with my father and cancer. There is no replacing them just continuing their work and dreams.
I'm sorry to read this brother! But you will get through it, it's a process one have to go through. I lost my own dad to cancer on my birthday in 2018. I still miss him. He was my best friend. We move on, but we never forget. They will live on in our hearts and minds. All the best to you, greetings from Denmark
Hey there, I'm a Uni student from Jamaica! I studied metal work and machining in HS but was always curious about woodworking. This video is pretty refreshing and inspiring as I've been toying with the idea of starting a RUclips channel myself! I always held myself back because of thoughts about not having the right tools / resources but this was a reminder to just start with what I have and continue to be resourceful. Keep up the great work!
Hey there! Your plans sound exciting-definitely start with what you have and build from there. Best of luck with your RUclips channel, can't wait to see what you create!
Hello, Tammy from Kentucky USA. Your quite an inspiration to me. Since I watched your first video about a year ago I have started learning wood working. I just make smalls like welcome signs and serving trays but I'm working my way up to tables and other things thanks to guys like you and #Dainermade. As you know it's hard to teach yourself something you don't know. So thank you for your inspiring and honest videos. You helped me open a door to a whole new world and so far I'm loving it.
Hi Jesper, Colombian guy from New Jersey, United States. Starting to help my Spaniard wife on art projects and really liking to play with wood and nature.
Hej Jesper! Not to be educated and do what you do is awesom.👍👏✌I’m from the Mother Earth, born in Iran and have been your neighbor for decades in Sweden. 😻😻 Love to see more of your projects 🥳🥳
Hello Jesper, i'm Robbe (21 years old) from Belgium. I'm loving the video and i've always found woodworking an amazing skill to have. Since pallets are also pretty easily accesible around here i might try out some starter stuff this summer. I love the calm style of video's u seem to have and how the video is made. Keep up the great work!!
Hey Jesper, I’m 20 years old from Massachusetts in the United States. I’ve been doing woodworking since I was 14 when I went to a vocational high school, and now work full time using a wood cnc and other wood working stuff(I’ve built an acoustic guitar, hundreds of cabinets, lots of tables, etc).Really enjoyed seeing your progress and willingness to show mistakes. Keep up the good work
Hello Jesper, Dusty here from Australia. If you get bored and have a spare 20 odd hours feel free to drop into my workshop anytime for a beer. Love your work.
I need this. At 66, went from disappointing loss one week to glorious win this week to uncertain next week. I need to see some winning to remind me of a "That's the way it goes sometimes" attitude. Püt!
It sounds like you've had a rollercoaster of experiences recently. Embracing the "That's the way it goes" attitude is definitely a healthy approach. Hang in there!
Hello, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. I just wanted to say I'm sorry for the loss of your father. He was clearly a big influence and I'm happy to see that your daughter is getting your experience in her life. Passing it on to the next generation is the best way. Love your videos and your humor.
Hello from Milwaukee! Passing on these skills to my daughter is indeed a treasure, and I’m glad that resonates with you. Thank you for your kind words and support.
Hi Jesper, I used to watch your channel back a few years and then fell away from watching woodworking. About 5 months ago I found Bearded VIking WW and he mentions you quite a bit so I came back to see what you have been up to. I just wanted to tell you I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It obviously took a good deal of work to put together and I appreciate it. Best to you and yours from Montana, USA.
Hello Jesper! My name is Carson and I am from Minnesota, USA 🇺🇸. My dream is to visit your beautiful country one day to pay homage to my Danish ancestors. For now, I can live vicariously through your videos.
Hi, I’m from Amsterdam, the Netherlands 🇳🇱 We’re currently living in Andalusia but we’re planning to move to Galicia in the north soon and I’m looking forward to working with wood and granite. I’ve got some experience in construction and manufacturing but a new region always comes with new techniques and a lot to learn. I enjoy tackling projects that I haven’t tried before and your video is very informative and helpful. Thanks! Greetings from Spain 🇪🇸👋
Hey Jesper, I'm a 26 year old dude from the Netherlands. Stumbled upon your video while tumbling down the youtube woodworking rabbithole and loving the video so far! (I'm at the part where you asked people to say hi) woodworking is a huge hobby of mine so thanks for all the inspiration!
Hello Jesper, im a 24 year old boy from Germany. My grandfather tought me to work with wood and since his death i used all of his tools to build nice stuff. I love the way you build things in the old fashioned way. Keep up the nice work❤
Hello Nick! Sounds like you’re honoring your grandfather’s legacy beautifully. Keep building and enjoying the craft-glad you like the old-fashioned approach! ❤
Hi Jesper!! I am an American/Dominican living in Denmark and love your videos! I also did some beginner wood work during corona at my house in the Copenhagen vicinity! I will spread the word about your channel 💪🏼
Hello Jesper, My name is Simon from Australia. I am 16 and this video is quite inspiring and beautiful. I similarly lost one of my dear friends merely 3 weeks ago, and the times haven't been tougher. My condolences for your father, and I hope you continue to make amazing videos!
Hey Jesper. Considering getting into this crowded RUclips game myself. I have always restored old furniture, which is what I thought I might focus on. I am typing this with my compute on an old factory bench I restored (which was my Grandfather's), and have built tables (using old factory cast iron legs, original not ebay modern recreations), restored chest of drawers (4+), restored grandfather clock cases (installing modern mechanisms to power the clock), built my own lamps using old theodolite tripods (with old stage or ship lights mounted on top) and currently have a 200 year old mahogany French linen cabinet in pieces in my shed mid-way through a restoration. I even build a coffee table from an old Piano, with all the old mechanism under a glass top, with a light activated by the original foot pedals. My father was a traditional carpenter who never used power tools, and did everything by hand, which is where I get my interest from, despite working in IT these days. I'm very fortunate to live in an old barn, so my creations fit in with the quirky nature of the property. So, viewing your videos, I guess you are going to say I have to just crack on, and learn as I go to make a channel a success?
Tom from Oklahoma here. Loved the raw and honest feel of your videos. You are doing what most people can only dream of doing. And with your family, that is just awesome to do. I am sad to hear about your Dad, but as it is said, it's the nature of life. I would love to see some of your tool lists. I really like that tenon maker. I've been thinking of making some stools for a patio table and I think it would be cool with the drill attachment rather than hand carving.
This video is absolutely brilliant. I am a Swedish guy working abroad, in a bit isolated location with not much to do in the evenings, so I spend them on YT. I have seen more than a fair share videos and lately I've been watching shorter and shorter videos, just to get the kick. That's when this, not so short, video popped up. Loved everything about it. The subjects, the mix of different projects, but most of all I loved the narration. It is spot on, inspirational and funny. Best video I've seen so far on YT. Subdscribed.
Hey Jesper! Greetings from Argentina! I'm a 34 year old worker who spends most of his time on a factory dealing with PVC doors and windows (manufacturing and installing them), and with a big love for tools and handwork. I went to a high school where I learnt a lot about different machines and materials since it was a technical/industrial oriented college, and now I'm full of different projects to improve my house, involving woodworking, welding, drywall installation, electricity, painting, etc. It was a real pleasure to watch this, even though I must admit that, at first, I thought it was going to be a pretty long video, but I enjoyed the fact of watching you evolve with your techniques and tools, learning from your mistakes and successes. Thanks for sharing with us, wish you the best.
Only watched a minute of your video and am already thrilled to learn about your journey. I am where you were three years ago, know very little about a house maintance, not to mention, how to start a farm and a life as a full-time artist. I am moving to a little cottage next week. The place needs lots of work and I am excited to find out how you went from a beginner to full-time woodworker! Thank you so much in advance.
Hi Jesper from Scotland. What an amazing video! I stumbled across it by accident and the title convinced me to watch a video far longer than I normally would, but what a great watch. Your humility, humour & way of life are so inspiring, and should be a must watch for any woodworker to get the most out of 'rubbish' wood others might just throw away. Looking forward to catching up on your videos!
Hi from New Zealand Jesper. Just starting my woodworking journey, renovating a derelict farm building, learning as I go, and I gained some useful techniques and inspiration from your videos. And like you I miss my Dad, who taught me how to lay a concrete floor when I was six, and talked me through setting the foundation for a deck over the phone when he was too ill to visit.
Hello from New Zealand. My name is James and I'm 16 years old. I just recently found your channel, and absolutely love it. I wish you all the best for the future.
I'm starting my woodworking journey, and I wanted to use pallets because they're free. So glad I found your channel because you're helping me a lot. Thank you!
Hello from Copenhagen (and originally from Romania)! This video was a nice watch, first in the background but then I was captivated by it and watched more closely! I love your storytelling and the way you showed your early work with new commentary. It seems honest and charming, and I can imagine quite vulnerable when sharing things about your family, but it makes the story so much more personal and meaningful, so thanks for sharing! Congratulations on your newfound passions turned full time living! That truly sounds like living the dream! Quite inspiring. I don't have much connection with woodworking, although now that I think of it, my father does own a furniture company back in Romania and he has been doing that for over 25 years. Also self-taught and also as a way to turn a passion for creativity and self-reliance into a living, which was always inspiring. I'm more of a digital builder, my creations are either videogames, music or sometimes videos, and so I also have been thinking of documenting my work and sharing it, as yet another creative project that could connect to the work I'm already doing. And I think the way you are doing it and also generously sharing your advice and learnings is super helpful! And I'm gonna tell you why in another comment on your 3 years of woodworking & youtube video, which sparked even more inspiration! Thanks a lot once again!
Copenhagen and Romania, what a cool mix! glad the storytelling resonated with you. sounds like your father’s journey was inspiring, and it’s exciting that you’re documenting your own creative projects-would love to see what you build digitally!
The "cork cutter" that you used is called a plug cutting bit. Great video man! I'm from Florida in the US. I built a little trellis out of scrap square posts, a cut up pallet, hog wire (the same kind of wire mesh you used in the greenhouse), a few cinder blocks (concrete building blocks), and some mason's twine to grow my passion flower vines and my luffa gourds for this year.
Hello from New Zealand ! I agree and understand with what you said in the beginning - I like building things I don't know how to do. Earlier this year I built my deck for the back of my house - and didn't know what I was doing, but had a great time learning how along the way. I also started with no tools, have just gotten used ones online when I could find them cheap. Enjoying your video a great deal :)
Absolutely blew me away. I’m a woodworker by day, but admittedly begun to turn my brain off to what made me love woodworking. Your video brings it all back for me, you’ve got yourself a new subscriber / Conneticut, USA.
Hello, Jesper! I’m Nate, 22-year-old from Ethiopia. I just wanted to express how inspiring and wholesome this video is. I hope that someday I’ll have the chance to build a treehouse with my own son. Wishing you and your family all the best!
hi. I've watched your vids for a while now and I really appreciate you sharing your process. I am from Australia myself and do wood working every now and then. I think its really beautiful that you get to work and spend time together with your daughter. I'm lucky I get to do that stuff with my dad also. we made a chicken coop together a while ago. Keep Up you're great work! I'm really enjoying your content
Hi there! It’s wonderful to share these experiences with family, isn’t it? Thanks for your support and for sharing your story about the chicken coop! Keep enjoying woodworking with your dad.
Hello Jesper. 73 year old lady from New Zealand. Really enjoyed your video. You have a very pleasant voice and accent for the commentary - and a great sense of humour. Looking forward to watching more building from you 😊.
Hello from the Midwestern USA, Jesper! I started woodworking about 2 years ago, but haven’t been lately due to moving into an apartment to pursue my master’s degree. My grandfather went blind when I was a child, and I inherited some of his tools. I’ve made a pallet wood folding table, some mahogany tobacco pipes, and cut loads of firewood since then. I’m blessed to live in a region with so many walnut, maple, and oak trees. Occasionally we get white and blue spruce here too. I plan to do what you’ve done here in this video once I graduate and get my own land. Keep it up! Love the channel.
Greetings from Los Cabos, Mexico. I’m originally from Ukraine 🇺🇦 but been living in Mexico for the last 22 years. Great video I really enjoyed it, thank you 🙏🏻
What a joy to watch, you now have a new subscriber from the UK. A 54 year old man having recently gone through an existential crisis! I adored the narration and the storytelling. It absolutely made the video.
Sure. You see that hour and a half runtime and think, No Way!
Spend the time! Spend the time!
Thank you for spending the time and for the shout-out!
Yeah, well you can always stop and continue later. In the end if you spend 1,5h watching, you spend 1,5h watching, it's the same 1,5h you spend when watching 1,5h on youtube shorts, it's just less trash.
Invest... the time... for possible future dividends... with interest.

Priceless! Utah, USA
Hey Jesper....great video as per usual 👍👍 Loved the whole journey you've been on mate and thanks for the little cameo......much appreciated 👍😁🇦🇺
Thanks for doing the cameo for me in the first place! Hope all is good mate...
Man built a table out of a pallet and then went "Why not a house next?" And if that isn't the biggest mood when it comes to discovering a new hobby I don't know what is.
That's exactly how it feels-why stop at a table when you can build a house, right? Glad you're enjoying the journey!
I'm an IT Project Manager and I started out with woodworking and it's now a disease. I'm addicted, building shit is so rewarding...
I once flipped a junkyard bicycle and thought why not a car next? I now have four cars.

hello Jesper!
i'm Sara, 20, from the south of Brazil!
my father works as a carpenter since he was very young, so i always loved everything involving woodwork and all the things you can make with it. when i saw you and your daughter working together, it reminded me of when i was little and wanted to help him!
i'm sorry for your loss, i'm sure your father is very proud of you.
i absolutely loved watching you improve your work day after day, thank you for sharing with us! i would love to see more, keep moving forward!
Hi Sara, thanks for the kind words! Your father sounds awesome. Keep the love for woodworking alive! ❤️
What’s up Jesper I’m a 15 yr old boy from Colorado USA. You have inspired me to make several projects and post some on RUclips. Love your content. Thanks for being you!

Kia Ora,
My mum is from Denmark (first language I ever spoke), Dad is from Invercargill New Zealand.
I love scrolling through comments and seeing a bit of Māori🤩😂😂
Why do you think your life story is appropriate here?
@MikeAG333 why not?
Kia Ora, Adam! Your family's journey sounds incredible. Wishing you all the best with your studies and health challenges. Keep cherishing those moments of woodworking and sea adventures!
It’s great, isn’t it? Love seeing Māori language celebrated here too!
Hi Jesper, I'm Culann, a 19yo irish student. Stumbled onto this video while horrifically jetlagged, and was a nice comfort for my sleepless night.

Hi jasper, I’m from Texas in the USA 🇺🇸 and I’m just getting started with my journey as a wood worker. Kinda of late in life honestly, at 31 years old. I’ve so far built so saw horses out of pallets, a pantry insert and a bed side table.
hi from Denmark, 31 isn’t late at all! those projects sound like a great start, keep going-you’re on the right track!
Hi Jesper, the drill that cuts the wood plugs from the board for filling the holes is called a "plug cutter", thanks for the video :)
Hi Mark, thanks for the clarification-plug cutter it is! I appreciate the support.

Thank you Jesper!
thank you! confidence is everything, and it’s great to hear the videos are helping you on your journey. keep building!
Hi Jesper! I'm from Kropyvnytsky, Ukraine. For me woodworking is like a small hobby, and your work is one of the factors that inspired to continue doing new things.😺
These are the videos people want to see. We're tired of seeing videos where the person has an entire workshop with the most high tech tools saying "Here's how to make this!"
Also stop sponsoring Betterhelp, they're known to sell data and not hire professionals.
Cheers! 🛠️
Like Kevin blacktail studio 😂😂😂😂
@@sumukhanm3643atleast Kevin states it isn’t a guide on how to build stuff he’s mentioned many times he knows people don’t have his tools
Well how about those heavy equipments 😂
My personal experience: 99% of building works can be done with general hand tools at home. You purchase expensive power tools for going pro and commercial.
I have to say it... watching woodworking with this extra serious retro-modern synth score in the background is absolutely addictive!
glad you liked it! synth vibes really?
Keep on going.

as someone with no woodworking interest, I love this video.
So I took some time for myself to work on myself and also to learn and gain some new hobbies or skills (and perhaps to film myself learning and gaining any new skills, as a young padawan does :D) and so far, while it's just starting, you've been hella inspiring Jesper. as someone who is basically financially crippled to ever own land/property and will never (or atleast being very unlikely) be able to do such awesome projects i am always proud of people that actually do something with all the space they have. Nothing worse than seeing people with a huge property and then just dont do anything with it.
Your comment really resonates with me. I'm glad you appreciate the effort to make good use of what we have. Thanks for your support!
You can still do some pretty cool little projects even in a tiny apartment. Where there's a will, there's a way, never give up!

Since pallets are also pretty easily accesible around here i might try out some starter stuff this summer. I love the calm style of video's u seem to have and how the video is made. Keep up the great work!!
Hey Robbe! Pallets are a great start. Glad you enjoy the calm vibes. Keep it up! 👍
This video is not just about wood, this man is a genius.
Thanks, Osama! Your words are too kind.
Mustafa, from Turkey.I would like to say, you are living the dream. Thanks for sharing, cheers :)
Mustafa, thank you! Living the dream takes one plank at a time. Cheers back at you from Denmark to Turkey! 🍻
Keep up the good work
Thanks man, sounds awesome with your builds 👊
Hello Jesper, Dusty here from Australia. If you get bored and have a spare 20 odd hours feel free to drop into my workshop anytime for a beer. Love your work.
Hey Dusty from Australia! Thanks for the invite, mate! A workshop beer sounds like a blast. Love the support and glad you enjoy the videos.

This really inspired me to spend more time woodworking. Keep up the good work💪💪💪
Dont need your promise, i knew 90 minute video will always entertain my youtube addiction
Glad to hear it keeps you entertained! Enjoy your RUclips binge!
Welcome back, and thanks so much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and it’s great to hear from Montana!
36:42 I'm sorry for your loss 🖤
Thanks. Appreciate it. 🖤
Hello Jesper! My name is Carson and I am from Minnesota, USA 🇺🇸. My dream is to visit your beautiful country one day to pay homage to my Danish ancestors. For now, I can live vicariously through your videos.
Hi, I’m from Amsterdam, the Netherlands 🇳🇱
We’re currently living in Andalusia but we’re planning to move to Galicia in the north soon and I’m looking forward to working with wood and granite.
I’ve got some experience in construction and manufacturing but a new region always comes with new techniques and a lot to learn. I enjoy tackling projects that I haven’t tried before and your video is very informative and helpful.
Thanks!
Greetings from Spain 🇪🇸👋
sounds like an amazing adventure! good luck with the wood and granite combo, and greetings back to Spain! 👋
Hi from India- This is the First Video, that i came across your channel, Divided by nations United by Woodworking and Homestead Living
For everyone not understanding, the wife in Denmark is the real boss. 😁
Welcome aboard! Glad you're enjoying the video and finding inspiration!
Perfect way to kill 1.5 hours while I dream of becoming a full time creator. TY
Thanks my friend. Let me know if I can help you become a full time creator.
Haha did exactly the same thing! Wanted to get off that desk and into the garden, pull out all the tools and piles of junk wood then start building!
Hello Jesper,
im a 24 year old boy from Germany.
Best of luck with your new adventure! You'll learn so much along the way. Enjoy the journey!
Welcome aboard, James! Best of luck to you too!
Plug cutter - thanks 🙏
Hello from New Zealand ! I agree and understand with what you said in the beginning - I like building things I don't know how to do. Earlier this year I built my deck for the back of my house - and didn't know what I was doing, but had a great time learning how along the way. I also started with no tools, have just gotten used ones online when I could find them cheap. Enjoying your video a great deal :)
Well said! Building without knowing is half the fun. Thanks for sharing your story!
im from the philippines and i love your humor! your voice is so relaxing as well. keep it up bud!
Hello! Thank you so much for your kind words. It's wonderful to hear you enjoyed the video and commentary. Looking forward to sharing more with you!
Wilko from the UK, don't listen to the hater's and just keep doing what you love. The videos are great and interesting, cheers mate
Great video I really enjoyed it, thank you 🙏🏻
wow, what a journey! thanks for watching, and big greetings to Mexico!
What a joy to watch, you now have a new subscriber from the UK. A 54 year old man having recently gone through an existential crisis! I adored the narration and the storytelling. It absolutely made the video.
Welcome aboard! Glad you enjoyed the storytelling, thanks for subscribing!
