A sonic masterpiece, Simon Le Bon is quite simply a god who walks the earth. Duran Duran are the most under appreciated underrated band of all time. I am a straight guy who catches a lot of stupid ignorant comments from insecure men but I wear my Duran Duran T shirt's with absolute pride.
Agree! Duran Duran are brilliant! I always admired Simon Le Bon for his focus on making great music with his band instead of pursuing a vanity based solo career like so many other singers. Simon is one of the all time great lead singers!
As well you should! Duran Duran is one of my favorite bands and I proclaim my love in the face of all my friends. Duran Duran, in my estimation, is one of the most under appreciated bands ever.:)
Duran Duran should be in the music hall of fame why not 40+ years in the business brilliant and sell out tours 2019 wow not many bands from the eighties music have achieved this, iv been saying it for years that they are very underrated in the music industry.
Since i heard this song for the first time several years ago it sounds in my head once in a while, it is very strange!... LIsten to that "piano"... Those voices... is like music from the sky. Beautiful. Timeless...
I never, ever had cried over a song until now. I thought I was too cold hearted or something. Simon's voice can really move me. This is an absolutely beautiful song. Greatest. Band. Ever.
Depeche Mode? Underrated? They filled the Rose Bowl in the 80s. They still sell out massive arenas. How much bigger did they need to be? Besides, the phrase "under-rated" is really a form of deathwish. When a band explodes outside their natural fanbase into a mainstream that only tolerates them because they’re being instructed to by the will of the industry, the inevitable backlash implosion destroys them (build them up to tear them down). I love these bands too, but I frankly don't want more half-hearted fair-weather fans looking for a thing to park their boredom on. Anyway, typically when someone says "under-rated", it's really just a misguided way of saying they wish them success and a sense of appreciation. Don’t worry, they’ve got it. I agree with Larry’s comment, that the likes of The Fixx is one that fits the expression, a TRULY under-rated band, and actually were extremely similar to Duran Duran in the day, great videos, 5 piece band, mysterious lyrics, synthy yet rocky, enigmatic lead singer, European, pure art and talent all round,... but these days they tour yearly and their shows are fantastic, but truly so small in audience that the 80s would weep in shame.
one of their most beautiful, sad, haunting songs. my third favorite of theirs right after the seventh stranger and land. such a shame each are so criminally underrated
This week I had a cat die, and “Ordinary Life” was playing at the grocery as I wondered about him, almost as if it was a channeled message from him to me. I didn’t pay much attention to this band as they were so made for MTV I thought they were a product made from a non-organic corporate entity, but in listening to their songs now, they were ridiculously talented.
Yes, that is me! I am "oworld" on the Duran Duran community. It is so cool for me to see all the videos made and know at least my idea was a small part of it. Now, I just wish I could make videos like you!!
THis track ALWAYS gets me in my heart. Makes me want to cry + "Liberty" is not a great album and very over produced BUT "My Antartica" is just simply SPINE CHILLING and i mean SPINE CHILLING + IMMACULATE Cry +

agree the greatest singer of all time. That voice, those eyes, and that smile captured my heart as a child. Im 38 and still to this day this man can make me cry. Thanks for all the love . I know you do this for me and all the fans out there who support your work. See you again my love.. soon...
They are under appreciated. When a band sells nearly 100 million albums in their career and are not in the Hall of Fame. Unbelievable disgrace the Hall of Fame is. Duran Duran is emotion, beauty, talent, magic. They have an incredible ability to remain relevant as a band. Scott you are a friend in Duran.
wie das Album Liberty einfach super. Schade nur, das weder das Album noch der Song schlecht in den Charts war. Ich verstehe es nicht!!! Für mich ist My Antarctica ein Top 5 Hit!!!
Adding a new comment here since it’s looking a bit dusty.. all the comments are years old. But really that just shows how underrated and undervisited this song is. bloody legendary I love this one
I'm from Duran Duran's time line back in the eighties and to be honest, although they were a talented band, they weren't my thing. This song however is honestly brilliant.
Christopher Connor I recommend “Leave a Light on” “universe alone” “Mediterranean” “”Shes too much” about half their catalogue is more like this than Rio.
Not a huge duran duran fan but have loved this for years. I had it as a b side on the ordinary world tape single, does anyone know if this can be bought on any cd album? Thanks for posting, made me very happy
Watch Risky Business...the scene where Tm Crse and Rbcca Dbrny make love on they subway...1:20:33...the music sounds like the music for this My Antarctica

Duran Duran's best albums were the ones that got the least attention. Really sophisticated beautiful songs where Simon goes ful range vocally and Nick does what Nick does best.

Serious and My Antarctica are in the pantheon of best DD songs ever. Even Simon says this (no pun intended). Listening to this track today stirs such a nostalgia for simpler times… an age without TikTok, iPhones and horribly divisive politics.
What a great video to go with the song! And what a gorgeous song!! I've been a big fan of Duran Duran, but I have never heard this song!! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Love DD Simon when i first saw him in 1981/82 thought he was the most gorgeous man on earth and still is for his age.
Agree! Duran Duran are brilliant! I always admired Simon Le Bon for his focus on making great music with his band instead of pursuing a vanity based solo career like so many other singers. Simon is one of the all time great lead singers!
So true!
Me too .... though no one criticises ...
♥️
I love this song. How it wasn’t a hit boggles my mind.
This is possibly the best song on the LIBERTY album, altough i love Serious as well
MAX DURANFAN
Two amazing, underrated songs.
This album is so underrated...this is one of their best songs. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing so beautiful. After 20 year i hear this song again. Like time is standing still and the sky filled with rainbows

I think this is one of their best songs. Loved this song! By the way, the contest was my idea ;)

I wonder what the VOICE thinks of this.... If I walked out with this song a thousand chairs would turn.. millions of hearts

I completely agree. Both Duran Duran and Depeche Mode are brilliant, and in my humble opinion they are both underrated.

Keep this and Serious and throw the rest out. If you take the best of Notorious Big Thing And Liberty you would have a Great DD album.
Yes, that is me! I am "oworld" on the Duran Duran community. It is so cool for me to see all the videos made and know at least my idea was a small part of it. Now, I just wish I could make videos like you!!

Once I thought that I was in control
But that was just another trick of fate
Playing with my life
There have been some times
I was so tied up
And I said to myself
Gotta break it all
But didn't really try
Two hearts beating in this place you've made
You know nothing changes my Antarctica
You can make your rhymes
And paint your rules
In black and white
For me to memorize
But never understand
And there will be time
For a thousand vows
Oh a thousand promises
We forgot
To be realized
Two hearts beating in this place you've made
You know nothing changes my Antarctica
One life pumping
We make love to make our heat
And we throb in my Antarctica
We'll keep the rhythm going
And we'll remember
We'll keep the laughter flowing
And we'll remember
We let the music jangle
And we'll remember
Two hearts beating in this place you've made
You know nothing changes my Antarctica
One life pumping
We make love to make our heat
And we throb in my Antarctica
Caught and sheltered this is what you made
You know I will stay here
In Antarctica
And you
Will stay here
