Robert nailing the 12 string guitar whilst belting out some of the most complex, heart wrenching sincere lyrics ever. Incredible. Sublime. Mesmerizing. The Cure... always tight.

LZ has always bn my favorite band. Cure was up there. Over the last 20 years or so...that has changed. Robert Smith and the boys hv changed my thinking. Cure is by far the greatest band of all time. True icons. Perfect in concert. Rarely a mistake. They sound even better live. This song though...incredible...1st on my Playlist at any bar
Kiss Me, Disintegration and Wish… 3 masterpieces in a row and there has never been better lyrics ever written by a band in such a short amount of time. Not to mention most of their best songs are non radio friendly 7 minute deep cuts that most bands would dream of making.
The intro with Robert Smith and Simon Gallup holding their heads together speaks volumes about the deep personal and musical collaboration between the two men. A truly remarkable display. The ties that bind through personal and music is remarkable.
I came to compare the guitar solo from the 1992 version and 1995 version. I think Perry did a fairly good job here although I prefer Pearl's maniac solo. I think this version is way slower though.
I can't believe I posted this 5 years ago! So jealous of all those folks at Glastonbury! As I am wont to say: "Please stop loving me," you said, "But I can't," I said "I will always love you. I will always love you" . . . Always Robert
I always come back to this live version as well, it's almost more powerful than the 'show' video version... Almost like Roberts putting more emotionally into it. Maybe because there was kind of a lacking in some of the new members...? don't know why I can't put my finger on it but it's definitely one of the best live versions of this song...
Every time we do this I fall for her Wave after wave after wave It's all for her "I know this can't be wrong" I say (And I'll lie to keep her happy) "As long as I know that you know That today I belong right here with you" Right here with you... And so we watch the sun come up From the edge of the deep green sea And she listens like her head's on fire Like she wants to believe in me So I try "Put your hands in the sky Surrender Remember We'll be here forever And we'll never say goodbye... " I've never been so Colourfully-see-through-head before I've never been so Wonderfully-me-you-want-some-more And all I want is to keep it like this You and me alone A secret kiss And don't go home Don't go away Don't let this end Please stay... Not just for today... "Never never never never never let me go" she says "Hold me like this for a hundred thousand million days" But suddenly she slows And looks down at my breaking face "Why do you cry? What did I say?" "But it's just rain" I smile Brushing my tears away... I wish I could just stop I know another moment will break my heart Too many tears Too many times Too many years I've cried over you How much more can we use it up? Drink it dry? Take this drug? Looking for something forever gone But something we will always want... "Why why why are you letting me go" she says "I feel you pulling back I feel you changing shape" And just as I'm breaking free She hangs herself in front of me Slips her dress like a flag to the floor And hands in the sky Surrenders it all... I wish I could just stop I know another moment will break my heart Too many tears Too many times Too many years I've cried for you It's always the same Wake up in the rain Head in pain Hung in shame A different name Same old game Love in vain And miles and miles and miles and miles and miles Away from home again...
If you held a gun to my head and forced me to name my favorite Cure song, this would more than likely fall from my mouth. "Why, why, why are you letting me go, she said? I feel you pulling back. I feel you changing shape. Just as I'm breaking free, she hangs herself in front of me. Slips her dress like a flag to the floor. Hands in the air, surrenders it all"... Along with the guilt I would feel for NOT naming Charlotte Sometimes (dreams a wall around herself but it's always been love! So much love it looks like everything else. Charlotte sometimes you're so far away) The Drowning Man, Fear of Ghosts (cause the further I get from the things that I care about, the less I care about how much further away I get). The Funeral Party, Plainsong because "it's cold, like the cold if we were dead & you smiled for a second". Oh god. Fascination Street. Disintegration. Lullaby... Spider-Man is having me for dinner tonight6, and I feel like in being eaten by 1000, million, shivering furry holes

Long time Cure Baby. My favorite song! This song always strikes a deep nerve in my heart. I'm 41 and the line "it's only rain, I smile. Brushing her tears away." always strikes home in the deepest way. I love the Cure!
I am 43 and been listening to them since the 80's! But for me Wish is my favorite album because every song on it hit's me! Though this is my third favorite song on the album. First is Letter to Elise. Second is Open. But the entire album is better than many bands entire output!
It's arguably the best performance I have ever seen in a concert, twice. Robert Smith, the light show, the party before and after, all of it. Great memories.
Saw them last night at Shoreline, it was truly epic, I wish it never ended. Truly beautiful, brilliant art performed in front of us, and cannot wait to see them again.
My absolute favorite! The magic of this. I feel my youth and memories all swirling about lost in rich melodious sounds of guitars, drums, keyboards & Robert's distinct beautiful voice. Thank you. I will always have this. Long live Robert & the music of the Cure forever 💟☮️
Yep. It's like, how did I miss this? I mean, a band this good with so many good songs? Like, one of the best rock bands of all time, and in my opinion, the best British rock band from the 80s at least. The radio didn't play alot of their stuff (apart from tracks from the pop oriented HOTD and KMKMKM albums) because the songs are either too long, have more music than lyrics with long intros, or do not conform to conventional song structures ... and that's why we love em, and of course the music sounds so epic.
I have been aware of them but dismissed them based on a few songs I heard on the radio. What a mistake! I figured it out about three years ago, and they have blown me away several times. Outstanding band-Burn, Forest, Shake Dog Shake, Fascination Street, that's what I am talking about.
Was sad when Robert booted Perry. To me, he fit The Cure. Porl was just such an outstanding guitarist, it really made drew too much attention to the guitar, if that makes any sense.
My favorite The Cure song from my favorite album of them. I spent some time investigating hidden meaning of the lyrics. They say it's about drugs addiction. I don't care, I am gonna stick to obvious vibe this song expresses. Robert Smith screams about love, passion and guilt, all in one, the mix of endorphins, dopamine, adrenaline exploding in human's brains. And oh yes, this chemical combination is addictive as fuck
I wouldn't take Smith's answers about his songs meanings too seriously, he lies all the time to people about what they mean. He told a reporter the Hanging Garden was about him hearing a noise in the garden when he was naked, and he went to go check on it, hence the hanging garden when it's really about a book lol. He also once said he was gonna do metal music, lied about albums dropping super sudden and people freaked, it's hilarious, he gives no fucks. Let his art come to you for what it means, it could have multiple meanings, who knows, the man's a genius.
I really hope Robert Smith writes an autobiography and it has the real meanings behind his beautiful lyrics. One can only wish and hope !! Love him 💛💜❤️💋💋💋
This song is one of the most psychedelic works of The Cure - and that’s saying a lot considering they have entire albums of sheer mind bending psychedelia.

What a great comment! I have never looked at it like that. Just recently started discovering The Cure after only knowing their radio singles and now I am intoxicated by this overwhelming music and lyrics. If only I knew sooner I was thinking often but yeah.... now there's still so much to discover :) The Cure is my sweet escape. When I listen to it I drift away on my cloud, it takes me away.
Obsessed with them again as well. Wow, that Perry’s solo was really cool. We have always looked up at Porl, Reeves and, of course, Robert. But Perry was good too! But the overall sound of the band and the song is amazing, really epic. Then they talk about prog rock and so on. The Cure always had something else.
This song can touch my soul in such a deep way, same as Homesick, This is a lie, Disintegration... I feel those songs so personal from Robert Smith experiences, and also I feel part of that same old game he is describing so well... I wish i could just stop...
This performance is just unbelievable!!! Just so much emotion and talent coming off that stage caught in time and still going to this day! I have been a Cure fan since 87! 🖤💜💚!
When ever anyone asks me what does love sound like. First i play the sound of a new born babys cry. Then i play this song:) if only he felt this way again. ❤

Remember
We'll be here forever
And we'll never say goodbye... "

Too many tears
Too many times
Too many years I've cried over you

Drink it dry?
Take this drug?
Looking for something forever gone
But something we will always want...
"Why why why are you letting me go" she says
"I feel you pulling back
I feel you changing shape"
And just as I'm breaking free
She hangs herself in front of me
Slips her dress like a flag to the floor
And hands in the sky
Surrenders it all...
I wish I could just stop
I know another moment will break my heart
Too many tears
Too many times
Too many years I've cried for you
It's always the same
Wake up in the rain
Head in pain
Hung in shame
A different name
Same old game
Love in vain
And miles and miles and miles and miles and miles
Away from home again...

There is something palpably sinister about the sound of this song. It speaks to my soul..."alone, a secret kiss..."
While I am a massive cure fan this is in my opinion is the best version of any song they have done - what a privilege to listen and watch this back!
"I wish I could just stop" must be one of my favorite lyrics of Robert. So simple yet so heartbreaking. Everybody knows that feeling.

I love this song FOREVER!!! Robert thank you for this!!!
One of the best cure songs😎👊🏽
Rob smith one of the greatest and this song wow
Perry´s guitar solo was amazing!
he could play....andthe feedback
Yeah, but the camera didn't focused enough on him during his solo. I would have liked to see him make those strings cry.
This song can touch my soul in such a deep way, same as Homesick, This is a lie, Disintegration... I feel those songs so personal from Robert Smith experiences, and also I feel part of that same old game he is describing so well... I wish i could just stop...
"GOOSEBUMPS."
Right here with you..we never say good bye. Wave after wave..what a fantastic song... 🎵 🎶 🎵 🎶 🎵
a post on Instagram bring me here. I used to listen to the cure live on cassette. bring my memories back to 90's
I tried to explain. I can't. Perfect song.
This performance is just unbelievable!!! Just so much emotion and talent coming off that stage caught in time and still going to this day! I have been a Cure fan since 87! 🖤💜💚!
Probably one of my favorite cure songs
A man before his time, this is about living with a partner with mental illness and coping with it .
I forgot all about this. It’s one of my favorite live performances of FtEotDGS. I remember Disintegration being quite good as well.
When ever anyone asks me what does love sound like. First i play the sound of a new born babys cry. Then i play this song:) if only he felt this way again. ❤
The Cure: pura energia cosmica che ti entra nell'animo e nel corpo. Emozioni da oltre quarant'anni...Ad majora semper! Giuliano.
Amazing song, and the best live version of it!
It’s just rain she said… washing my tears away.
To many years I’ve cried over you . Over you . Over you .
Miles away from home again
Does it ever end
