Absolutely beautiful. Hard to describe the emotions I feel when I hear this masterpiece. Heard it 100's of times and it always feels like the first time.
I was driving back from the beach..it was the first summer I was there without my daughter, who my ex had been keeping from me for 5 months. My son and I missed her so much. He was in the back seat asleep and my girlfriend was wiping this tears away from my face as I listened to disintegration in its entirety. The radio towers blinking red against the night sky in late august made them even more pronounced, and they remind me of daughter as that is one of our (things) together. Love song comes on and I truly couldn’t hold anything back at that point. I had been so numb for months, that I didn’t look visibly distressed, but the rears were just rolling down onto my shirt, endlessly. Finally once that song was over I calmed down a bit. As I heard the last few instruments fade away on disintegration, I shut off the video. As that was the last song on the album, or so I had previously thought. For the next 40 minutes I tried to articulate passionately the sense of awe that song (and many others by the cure) gives me, telling her I refused to play more music because “what am I suppose to follow that up with?” you’ll be happy to know. I experienced homesick for the first time that night, accidentally hitting next on the RUclips playlist, as well as the untitled song to follow. You’ll be even happier to know I got my daughter back
i'm 45, and disintegration was the start of my deep love for music back in '89 when i was 14. i fell in love with so many bands and artists of so many styles of music, but this song, homesick, i really have to say, is the most beautiful song ever. i've listen to maybe more than a thousand times and it still let the tears flow.
I really appreciate this song ,i come from a small island in the carabeans and i know that i will never go home,my father my mother my grandmother n grandfather all my uncles now are all gone, the house my father built in the rainforest where im from is falling from time and hurcanes it saddens me all memories now..(love you The Cure)
i remember leaving my lover's house after a night of loving each other. i had to leave, when all i ever wanted then was to sleep at his side. With all my heart, i did not wanted to return home. When i did, i played this song on my phone walking back home in the rainy and dark night. The cure makes the soundtrack of my life.
This is hands-down my favorite song by The Cure! It surely showcases the epitome of their musical creativity. Robert Smith is the absolute master of this craft!! PS - And any band that utilizes a keyboardist gains extra brownie points.. more bands now days need to still do this!
In 2006 I spent 5 weeks in ITU close to death with peritonitis, this was the song that kept playing with such clarity in my head, whilst in a drug induced state of confusion. This song took me to the edge of existence but brought me back from not being here. Words cannot describe the beauty of this song and what it means to me. Forever the Cure.
Whenever my time comes, I want this to be the last song; l'll' ever hear in this life . STILL as brilliant as the day I 1st heard it, at NS Rota, Sp (the Old VQ-2) in '92 Whales Forever ! CGR
I've met the band personally, and it's not about the Bass only my friend, listen more carefully ....it's like a heartbeat duhtdah-da-duh-tuh...repeat it....then You will be a bigger Fan....let me know when you hear the heartbeat❤
I'm one of the blessed few (still living or at least talking about it) who saw the Cure when they were promoting their then new LP, DISINTEGRATION, IN THEIR LEGENDARY PRAYER TOUR...
Disintegratiom was a masterpiece. I sae them on the prayer tour. Jt was magical. Plainsong to open up was awesome. The crowd was awesome..total fans. Fans that knew staring at the sea etc. The. I saw them when they did wish tour. Uggg. I mean same band but those fruity pop songs. Ehhhh And the crowd was a bunch of 12 yr olds who just saw their video on mtv. Just vert mediocre feel. The prayer tour. Disintegration. Magical. Just outta this world. I like my cure dark weird Wisb tour. Just not the same. Too poppy and rhe fans werent the same. Peace ** fascination st got me into them. I heard just like heaven of course but when i heard fascination and saw rhe video i was like What the fukkk is that? Yo. That song was crazy nuts. The groove. The instruments. The intro. Pure gothic weird energy
I remember slow dancing to this song with who was then the love of my life. I had just run away that day to the fact that this song was played really seemed fitting. I remember how when the song was over and I was feeling so emotional I looked up and saw my dad standing there crying. He had been watching me and I think he then realized how things were for me at that age. Things were better between us after that night. Damn now I am gonna cry lol
L'album Disintegration a 13 anni ha cambiato la mia vita musicale... ora a 48 anni mi emoziono come allora a sentire questi straordinari pezzi! Robert Smith & company sono straordinari!
W.B Yeats wrote that his old associate George Russell ("A.E," intended for Aeon), back in their twenties in the 1880s, was "ever on the verge of trance." So was I in my 20s back in the late 1980s with the release of the Cure's incomparable LP, DISINTEGRATION...Who can deny the hypnotic rhythm and beat of "Homesick"?
It is indescribable live ...I feel blessed to have been the perfect young carefree age to see them when they were almost touring back to back.. Disintegration came out my freshman year of HS and I saw them both nights they were around 🥰
Looking for these version that were b side cd singles , perfectly mastered, I saw this tour my first show, with love & rockets& The pixies at Giant Stadium SOLD PUT THANK YOU!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🖤🖤🖤
HEY IT S A GRAET SONG NO ARGUING AT ALL,BUT WHAT IMPRESSES ME MOST IS THE FACT THAT SO MANY MANY DIFFERENT KIND OF PEOPLE LIKE IT..(DIFFERENT STYLES, AGES..)AN INDICATOR FOR A GREAT BAND..
Not an easy song to capture live because so much is improvised. The interaction between the bass and the piano is the key to a good version of the song. This version really works! Roger and Simon are slightly out of time to begin with, but as soon as Jason comes in everything is under control. Wonderful song!
Strange that today, finding music of this quality represents a real challenge!!! Over 150 000 hits for this song, It's encouraging to see there are still music lovers out there.
Life. A finite cycle of events, meetings, and departures. Friends discovered, others forgotten. Reminiscing everyone I've encountered. Do these memories have a purpose in my head, or will they simply fade into obscurity, never to be remembered again. Nothing seems the way I once knew, everything is altered. Living in a disillusioned state as the world's time brinks near my end. I so fond for the yonder, outside this crowded and fruitless place.
I remember, me being 17 ,stuck in heartbreak, listening to this album day in day out, smoking pot, reading, no drinking the lyrics, , forgetting about the outside world, and drowning in the guitars - like forever
There's one version I love live and it's in a side B. I think it might be the Fascination Street single from 1989. It has the most beautifully mixed live sound. Robert Smith's acoustic guitar is discernible and well equalized.
Hey hey, just one more and I'll walk away All the everything you win turns to nothing today And I forget when to move when my mouth is this Dry and my eyes are bursting hearts in a blood-stained sky Oh it was sweet, it was wild and oh how we I trembled, stuck in honey Honey cling to me, so just one more Just one more go Inspire in me the desire in me to never go home (Doo doo doo doo doo doo) (Doo doo doo doo doo) Oh just one more and I'll walk away All the everything you win turns to nothing today So just one more, just one more go inspire in me The desire in me to never go home To never go home (Doo doo doo doo doo doo)

I love all the songs and all the albums of The CURE. Timeless band. Robert Smith is a living legend !
This song penetrates deep into my soul and attempts a definition of God, mortality and the human aspiration towards Immorality
You mean IMMORTALITY
One of the best intro ever the bass line and the piano are so beautiful…👌🏾❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥

One of the most beautiful song in one of the most beautiful album ever.
My mother pass away yesterday , this song give some kind of peace but the pain full my heart .
Pure beauty & melancholy, almost otherworldly, how much I love that song!!! ♥♥♥
So much beauty in this song especially this live version it hurts

One of the keyboardist masterpieces of the Cure...perhaps my favorite composition by Robert Smith's (un)merry little Gothic band.

This song has a dirge/funereal quality...much more subtle than their earlier funeral party.

Why is this song touch me so much....
Hey hey, just one more and I'll walk away
All the everything you win turns to nothing today
And I forget when to move when my mouth is this
Dry and my eyes are bursting hearts in a blood-stained sky
Oh it was sweet, it was wild and oh how we
I trembled, stuck in honey
Honey cling to me, so just one more
Just one more go
Inspire in me the desire in me to never go home

The desire in me to never go home
