Pete and Hillarie(sp), you speak kindly to all your beasts. You touch them with friendly hands, always. You work to keep them safe from predators and all illness. And that is why they only have one bad day in their lives. Would that people treated one another in such ways.

That's love. All of your animals have a great life with you. They get talked to and they talk back, like the Ms Patty, very opinionated. Any animal that comes to live on your farm, no matter the length of time, will have the best life.

You did the right thing for John, even though it was difficult - he obviously wasn't going to last much longer, and there is no sense in making him suffer just to save yourself the heartache of doing what needed to be done. There are those who think letting an animal live to the end of their life is the right thing to do, regardless of their health, but taking responsibility means doing what is truly best for the animal rather than what makes the person feel good about themselves. Sean, thank you for our freedoms!!! Forty years ago I often went to air shows, and the Harrier was my favorite.

Sometimes good things just drop in your lap. I am glad you see you are willing to use crossbred breeding stock. One purpose of pure heritage breeds is to preserve adapted types and genetics. But just as important is pure heritage breeds to produce crossbred offspring to get a lot of hybrid vigor. Some of your viewers may not know that crossbred sows have a few more piglets in a litter and a few more of these survive to maturity. Purebred stock is important, but crossbred stock is also important. Thanks for your videos.

Lovely big boar. Have you considered KNF ( Korean Natural Farming) for the new build pig facility? Odourless, clean, healthy. Enjoy your videos very much ❤

Getting that new boar from Sean and Jenny sounds like a win win to me, a real nice looking one, from good folks. I feel your pain in dealing with John like that, it's hard when you have one for so long. I hope your family had a nice Thanksgiving and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead.

Pete, have you ever thought about making a pig pasture down in the woods?

Thanks for showing/discussing the emotional side of farming. How you treated John during his entire life of your farm, and for that matter all of the livestock under your care is an example of how it should be done. I'm really excited for you and your entire family for the genetic diversity t hat has been established on your farm with the addition of JJ and the young boar piglet. You'll have many wonderful litters in the future of your farm.

He mentioned in an earlier video that the meat would not taste good from a full grown boar like John and that once put down he would be laid to rest in the woods on the farm. Not sure if burried or just laid on the ground to feed the wildlife but no he wont feed the farm.

Man, I sure remember those days, loading pigs can be rough, is seems like if you try and push their rear ends to coax them along, they just start pushing back. Pete, have you ever put a bucket over their head and steer them backwards to where you want them to go? An old farmer told me that trick and it works!

I grew up on a 700 acre dairy farm in Jordanville NY, and we always had pigs chickens and a couple lamb. JJ looks beautiful and I think he’ll be a great fit for your operation. He’s a little freaked out now but he’s not unpredictable. Once he settles in he’ll be approachable and friendly as as your others are. He has beautiful lines and size too. I’ve been following and like where you’re going with this whole pig thing. Smart moves as always. Thanks for the great vids.

Great video. Knowing when it's time to let an animal go shows y'all care and are good stewards of your animals. He left y'all with great memories of him and he s life. It's never easy to put an animal down. But he's better now. That new guy is great looking and should give y'all many years of good looking piglets. He is a big boy. Y'all be careful stay safe and keep us posted.
