Sambo is a versatile sport because it has large amount of techniques in standing position as well as on the ground. Why can't you throw an opponent who's equal or stronger opponent? There are two main reasons. First - you're setting up and doing the throw wrong, and the second you're predictable and everyone knows your moves. In both cases your technique is flawed and something has to be changed. All progressive MMA fighters are incorporating sambo submissions. It's easily explainable due to limited time on the ground ( 2-5 seconds to catch and another minute to complete ). Sambists research the fastest and most effective ways to finish for years. Why does everyone want to finish fast? It's an opportunity to finish in style and preserve your energy. I know the taste of quick finishes like no other. 25 years in sambo, 13 World Championships in which i earned 2 golds, 4 silvers, 1 bronze and most importantly 90% of my victories happened before regulation time expired. I spent 20000 hours

Combat sambo at this level is very beautiful! As a judoka I can still take much out of this even though, thankfully we cannot strike!

7:25 That cartwheel reminds me of the great Ukrainian judo-ka Georgii Zantaraia! Amazing.
And also a little bit of Dagestania freestyle wrestler Abdulrashid Sadulaev, who does a cartwheel to clear underhooks.

Hey Sila Partera, I have one question, I'm not a grappler but I would like to know how would a sambist deal (escape) the turtle/all fours position. Would you do something like a peterson roll? Or a sit out? A sweep?

To me, your channel and @welcomematstevescott are best channel to learn throws. I don't miss even a single videos from your channel. This is the second time I've taken issue with your video. To counter Okuri-ashi-barai with "aerial cartwheel + Kata-guruma" is simply a joke. But as for your main technique, defending the knee strike with foot sweep is a very rudimentary technique in Muay Thai and still worse that the person does it wrong. You first have to protect yourself from the knee then sweeping the foot but at 4:30 Tori whacks Uki's knee with his stomach (lol), indeed tori should reaps Uki's supporting foot with his other leg (Tsurite side leg) to dodge the knee strike at the same time.

The cartwheel is not a joke! It's a legit defense and a lot of Eastern European judo-ka and Sambists use this style of escape. It probably won't look this pretty (the same way most uchi-mata in competition don't look at beautiful as the ones done in practice), but it does work. Obviously, for safety reasons, this is more for professional athletes. But I see many recreational judo-ka do this defense as well, especially against drop seoi-nage (probably the easiest scenario to use a cartwheel from).
The most famous person who uses aerial cartwheels is the great Ukrainian judo-ka Zantaria:
      ruclips.net/video/FcUcRCGZdBg/видео.html
He uses cartwheels and flips to escape all sorts of throws, including foot sweeps, seoi-nage, hip throws, etc. Some of his defense is now illegal (in the past, Zantaria would often land in the head bridge which currently results in a DQ), but you can still do many of these cartwheel techniques. You just have to be more careful about not turning your back to the mat and "staying ahead" of the opponent when they try to rotate your shoulders to the mat. It's all about managing the angle of your cartwheel's trajectory.
Olympic gold medalist Mansur Isaev also does a lot of cartwheels to defend. He has even used a backwards flip to defend osoto-gari, which I think is the most dangerous scenario to use a cartwheel or flip. I would never try that myself.
