    Thanks for these, been looking for Yamaha HS demos for guitar, this video really nailed it for me, I have question though, does the HS5 sound good with effects and not get muddy? clean chorus and distorted with chorus? I just wanted a stereo output for a change and I'm a sucker for the that 80's tone, Thanks man

    I own a pair of HS8's and admittedly everything I play through them sounds exceptionally crisp and capable of reproducing a wide range of frequencies, especially for speakers with such relatively small tuneable ported enclosures. I personally think the HS8's performs well enough on their own, to negate the need for an additional subwoofer, except perhaps in larger venues. I found the HS8S subwoofer somewhat overwhelming in a small sound studio. Thanks for sharing. 👍

    OMG...this is exactly what I have been looking for!! Been wrestling with what to do as between these 3 monitors and possible combo with the Sub. I am replacing my Way vintage Yamaha passive 8 ".... but was worried about the size/ massive depth of the modern HS8s, and was considering going with 5s or 7s and the Sub. But now I am going to stick with the HS8s,,, see how they do for a while,, then maybe add the sub later for overall listening or mixing if I think I need it. Can't we get good sound unless we turn the HS8 volume up too much? Great video Luca 🙂. I'm looking for a set of studio monitors at the moment to improve my home productions/mixing and this was very helpful. It came across on the video that the sub wasn't of much benefit when just playing the guitar alone but obviously had that extra punch when the backing track was played. I think the choice out of the three - HS5/HS7/HS8 - would probably whittle down to room size and how well treated it is. My room is approx 2.2m wide and 3.2m long with no acoustic treatment......my guess is that the HS5's would be more beneficial for a small space. You have a great set up in your studio. I'll take a listen to Lynx Eye as well. ps: Congratulations to Italy for getting to the knockout phase of Euro 2020 😃

    Just a heads up none of the Yamaha HS monitor line should be placed on their sides. They're meant, and designed, to be placed upright. It doesn't ruin the sound but you will diminish the quality to some degree. Definitely wouldn't record with them like that. There are monitors that can be placed on there sides like this but Yamaha doesn't make any.

Did you notice that as well in your room? Or is the difference caused by just the difference in volume levels in the room when recording? Well, I'm no professional by any stretch of imagination. But studio monitors are not supposed to sound good? They're supposed to give you a true reflection of the music you play, so what you record and mix sounds good in other systems aswell? In the car, with headphones, on your cell phone and on a big stereo system.
    I'd really like a pair of small monitors, like 4-5" but I'm afraid my mixes will be to bass heavy when playing them outside of the studio?

    • @TheGuitalian

      They don't have to sound good, but to sound "true" in order to make any adjustment you need on your mix. Regarding your concern yes, that's a bit risky and you can fix it double checking with a pair of headphones

      @@TheGuitaliandid you use two monitors exclusively for the guitar signal, and another two monitors for the sound of the backing track??

      No, same monitors. If I remember correctly the backing track was created after the recording, since I tracked the guitars with a metronome

    I am thinking of ditching my amp and replacing it with a studio monitor since I have a multieffects that has amp & cab sims is this a good idea or should I stick with my amp?

      I my depends, I actually use an hybrid setup with the torpedo captor to use my amps. However the real cabinet is always the real deal

    The moment you discuss the HS8 you will see the HS8 in the background on the left and right of your desk. The moment you play your guitar to test that HS8, the HS8 is not on the desk, but the HS5! This video Yamaha test is FAKE!!!!

    • @TheGuitalian
      @TheGuitalian  Год назад

      Ahaha it's not fake dude, the VIDEO is always the same for all the 3 speakers, because I wanted to use the SAME performance. THEN I mic'd up the different speakers PLAYING BACK what I recorded in the VIDEO. You are watching me playing all the time because I thought that watching a video of a mic standing still would have been boring.
      I don't understand why should I spend hours and hours of my time making a fake video that would have no point at all :)
