    I have the previous version, the HS50m, which are very similar. I appreciate the detail but the lack of bass makes me want to work on headphones. I will try the Kali LP6 next, I will order them on black friday. I tried them in my local music shop, they are detailed and accurate but with much better bass response than the HS5 / 50

    I have the HS-8s and love them! But ... I still use a 12" 300watt sub to hear what's going on way down low. The key in using a sub is to ensure its use is not at an overpowering level. You should only hear it to the point where if it wasn't there you'd feel you were missing something. I've checked mine against lots of tracks I'm very familiar with and my own stereo, 5.1 and binaural mixes sound really great. My home studio (spare bedroom) is treated appropriately with Auralex acoustic panels, bass traps and dividers; highly recommended for improving your mixing/mastering environment.

    What’s the name of the track you used to compare these two sets of speakers and who is the artist? Cheers!

    Thanks, I might go for them. What sub bass do you recommend to go with them for a home studio??

    How do you have yours hooked up? I only have one stereo mini jack outputting sound. So I would wire that to one speaker. How does the other speaker get signal? Via Male to male XLR or otherwise?

      You need some adapters to run from a 1/8th inch to these speakers. It can be done, though typically people would run their studio monitors out of their digital interface.

    Hi Charlie, I have a set of HS8s and I hear those annoying noises as you showed in your other video. I am using balanced cables. Do you know what else could be causing it?

      @englishguy9680 2 месяца назад

      Most likely the room. The solution may be better placement of the speakers and/or diffusers.

    Hey Charlie, I'm looking for someone who understands acoustics to ask for information so I can clear up a doubt.
    I bought new hs7 speakers, I hear a rattling coming from the back of the speakers when playing the low frequencies and in particular the Subs, I wanted to understand if this is normal or if the speaker has problems . The room is treated well acoustically, and I hear the rattling is inside the speaker so if there should be a problem I think it is from the speaker itself.
    Thanks in advance🙌🏻

      There should be no rattling coming from your speaker i would return it to the place you purchased them. The rattling could be a few things a weakened cabinet, loose speaker or tweater or internal elements of the speaker weakened possible by taking some damage during transit. But yeah don't try and fix the problem yourself, use the warranty and let them get you a fresh pair out.

    How do you figure the best kind of speakers for say a pc gaming setup?

    • @CharlieHunt
      @CharlieHunt  4 месяца назад +1

      Pc gaming would be best in headphones really but if you want that bigger sound I would loom for a small set of monitors that pack a punch like the presonus 3.5, they also have a nice soundstage to listen to ingame engagement.

    Well, at least you played them. People who actually measure these speakers (science audio review) shows that it is too bright, with a huge 1 khz peak. The Kali LP-UNF is pretty flat within 3db except for a pronounced bass peak at 100 Hz. Also, the Kali goes down to 54 HZ at 3db (and 39 db at 10 db), where it looks like the HS5 is more like 60 HZ (with the rated 54 HZ being 10 db).
    Yamaha really has to step up here. And, by the way, what is it with you? Why aren't you telling people this information? I mean, I am glad you actually played them, but for people who don't have a good setup at home, they are stuck.
