I have used powered monitors for the last 15 or so years, and I'm planning on moving back to passive speakers as the selection of affordable amps that measure really well are common.
I listen to every demo sent to Bulletdodge Records , through my MacBook speaker … if the track catches my ear through that speaker then it’s going to sound good through a decent system or monitor set up
