I highly recommend playing a charisma caster if you're struggling. Charisma comes in clutch all the time to avoid fights or deceive/intimidate your way into getting treasures.
I WANNA BE MURD- nope 😂😂😂
Ah, yes. The Spike Growth cheesegrater is a classic strategy. Difficulty-wise, I did find the balance in a couple fights a little wonky even on Balanced, especially early game (the fight with the Gnolls in particular) simply because some monsters have been buffed beyond what a 3rd-4th level party would "normally" face.
Seriously, taking on the Gnolls directly is kind of crazy hard at that level.
People are have trouble with the combat in this game? The only trouble I'm having is dealing with all my companions trying to get in my pants.
Gale would like to know your location
The only fight that gave me trouble was fighting all the steal watch at the inagaration before blowing up the factory. This was a personal choice of mine but the fight was fun.
"It's too hard, I don't have a human softballing me when I make bad tactical decisions!"
Im my main game i found that Asterion quickly became my main power artillery when i figured out how bonkers hand crossbows are (they dont have the loading limitation in BG3 and can be dual wielded with no restrictions).
get lvl 3 Rogue, pick Thief.
then get lvl 5 fighter, getting the sharpshooter feat.
Slap on dual hand crossbows and just go to town!
Just being able to pump out 6 attacks with actions surge with sharpshooter bonuses the damage at lvl 8 and beyond is just amazing.
I’d make an argument for 2 other multiclass options that are as good as the Fighter multiclass, depending on what you want: Rogue and Cleric, 1 level each. With Rogue, you get Thieves Can’t, Sneak Attack (1d6), an additional proficiency bonus for a skill, and the best thing from the multiclass, Expertise in two skills of your choice. For Cleric, you get spellcasting plus your subclass with just a one level dip.
I've heard some people saying that putting one level into Wizard is good because then you can learn spells from scrolls, which massively increases the versatility of your character
I would also recommend in addition to Spike Growth, Spells such as Darkness, Hunger of Hadar, and Black Tentacles are also SUPER useful in fights. Area Denial is extremely strong in BG3. Even though Darkness deals no damage to your enemies, it CAN however MITIGATE damage coming in to your team. it forces enemies to have to get close or stay away and do little to nothing. It also allows you to Pop out for a range attack/spell for cheap dmg and then retreat back into it for protection. Also if you have Reckless attack or Devil SIght, you ignore the Disadvantage while fighting inside it. It Truly is very strong in its own right even with out the dmg. Hopefully this helps. Great Vid Outlaw!!!
Stealth and charisma are the main characters of a great dnd game
I'd expand slightly on the AoE vs Focus Fire, depending on your difficulty settings and builds you might be able to knock off enough HP with an AoE to put a few enemies in polishing off range for the rest of your party, which is VERY worth the action.
In Wrath of the Righteous one of my favourite builds has a sorc specced for mega blasting, most non-boss fights I would open with a fireball/chain lightning/other AoE then send in my minions (aka companions) to finish off 3-6 mooks.
The ultimate point of "Action Economy is Everything" is an ancient truism for a good reason, the best guarantee of victory in virtually any D&D based fight is using more actions than the other side. That's why in Pathfinder TTRPG I love AoE spells with rider effects, like Sirocco or Stunning Spell Fireball or Entangling Cone of Cold; "Fuck your HP AND your actions" is primo spellcaster feels.
Its complicated but you could Multi-Class levels 1-4 and then when you get to level 5, respecialize into 5 levels of your main class. Then at level 6 and beyond, Multi-Class again.
Spike Growth+Cloud of Daggers=dead goblins
Spike Growth kinda blows because AI just won't walk in it or will just jump out from what I've seen 😥
Check out my previous video on how to use spike growth
Me with my fighter watching this...
_So, Multiclassing into yourself... That's a thing, right?_
...on an unrelated note. What about one Level in Monk for the Unarmored Defence? Especially for a Wisdom Spellcaster?
Or a Barbarian one for the Rogue...
With not needing the requiered Stats these Multiclasses are also easier to achieve and especially for Classes who already focus on one of the two Stats as their main one, adding Constitution doesn't sound like a bad idea, since Casters (okay, probably just all of them) need a high Constitution as well.
YOU ARE AWESOME! ❤❤❤
LOVE THE HEADPHONES!!!!
I'd say the AOE vs Focus Fire debate is far more case by case.
If you’re fighting a horde of goblins, then Fireball easily because 12 4-12 health goblins can be easily dispatched.
If you’re fighting a bunch of tough opponents, let's say, 8 36 health warriors, then your AoE can bring them to low health. So you take 8 attacks that turn. Next turn, your AoE finishes them. But if you focus fire and kill 2, then you’re taking 6 attacks that turn. Then 4 more attacks. Then another 2, for a total of 12 attacks. So in that case, it might be better to go for the AoE if you can take out enough enemies by Turn 2's conclusion to make the mathematical difference.
But if you’re fighting something like a necromancer, easily the answer is focus fire, because the necromancer is the reason the other enemies exist, so once it's gone, the rest vanish too, or at least, it can't bring in more

Currently waiting for the xbox release (yes, I know PC's are the master race yadda yadda) and I've been excited to try a shadow monk/thief rogue multiclass. Obviously the rogue inclusion switches things up a bit as they get expertise as well as relying on sneak attack rather than extra attack. I'm just not sure which class to start with and when to switch to get the most out of the build.
I NEED THOSE HEADPHONES
I'm curious what you think of the Wildshape extra attack and tipple attack at levels 5 and 10.
Spike Growth is op for druids
Warlock-bard for the win baby!! 4 levels warlock 2 levels hard so far.
A very important note: you need legs to kick ass
Question. My main campaign I'm playing an Oath of the Ancients paladin/warlock multiclass level 10 right now.
I picked ancients mostly so I can use the auras at higher levels and play a sort of support/damage role character. This means I really don't need Shadowheart(though I used her for the entirety of Act 2 as you face mostly undead the whole time) for that support type character BUT I can also outDPS Shadowheart as well. With Karlach, astarian and Gale there is so much damage going around.
The question is gor thise last levels is it maybe better to go fighter or are those paladin auras worth giving up action surge?
Nah multi classed at level 2. Went lockadin but honestly pact weapon is better than extra attack and i still would rather start pally so i can get heavy armor proficiency and smites for damage (makes up for losing extra attack early).
NGL I kinda hate that Fighter remains a "dip for X levels" to improve other classes kinda class. It feels like it undermines the fantasy of the game in a really annoying way to me. In Pathfinder it's for proficiency and feats, in 5e it's for Action Surge; either way it feels like it doesn't add a specific flavour or fiction to the builds, just a mechanical boost.
Always here fighter this or fighter that. SOO many people are neglecting the Cleric Multiclass arguably stronger than fighter. 1 you don't lose Spell slot progression for caster builds. War cleric gets 3 extra attacks using war points per long rest this is pretty close to action surge for martial classes. plus a ton of other benefits. Spikegrowth is cool and all but Cloud of dagger up cast to 3rd of 4th level does damage when it lands and again on enemies turn you can push and pull things through it and block doors. Cloud of Daggers + Voidbulb/blackhole = dead room :)
I'd argue war cleric is exactly what they want from fighter, if not better. 3 attacks at their leisure per LR versus one action surge per SR. Sometimes I don't even use that action surge but I wish I had 3 of them back to back, this is the answer. Thank you for pointing this out to me!
Why separate killing and AoEs? Just cast 5 fireballs a turn on sorceror
Jokes aside, usually a good tip, particularly in DND 5e, to be focus firing.... But the aoe damage you can do in bg3 is so insane.
If you can kill all of em then hell yeah! I was trying to say always go for a kill not necessarily saying one is better than the other
I thought that baldurs gate 3 was pretty ezy for crpg.
baldurs gate 3 is hard? says WHO?
....... Mother of god I am a fuddy...
comment just to make you feel good
Wait... people are struggling in bg3? I oneshotted some of the bosses and was very disappointed
But i like my games easy.
Obligatory comment
This game was overall pissbaby easy. Assasin rogues can take out most of act 1 on their own.
I can also reccomend sorcerers given they can cast 2-5 Fireballs in a turn.
Am i the only one that felt like the volume of the video was really low, even tough my yt volume was at max.
Too hard? It's not even that hard on tactical. These people have obviously never played with a DM that wants to make them work for it.
