The sheer sandboxy nature of all these mechanics on top of everything else is impressive. You can always find people doing things in way you haven't even dreamed of
Its similar to Divinity 2 which is where these mechanics come from you had these teleportation pyramids you could find and throw them around and teleport from one to another so you could leave one at the grove trader for example and then drop one exactly where you were and teleport back and forth and throw them on high ground and teleport everyone up there. it was so good and had so many uses.
And do you know how they thought of all of these mechanics? Some from player feedback, but a lot of it was from the devs simply playing their own game and thinking "you know what would be cool?" Then adding this stuff in.
That one, and dumping a bunch of stuff out elsewhere to turn mage hand into artillery support are the ones that i found most interesting. This game is so flippin' cool man.
I've actually done this in a campaign and I didn't think I could in this..... oh man oh man.... I had a bag filled to the brim with explosives... time to repeat it in bg3 lol

Indeed. This is actually game-changer level stuff, as it's way easy to be over encumbered if you're not having Karlach carry all the camp supplies. And even then, they take a fair chunk of her carry weight.
A tip I found: if you have prepared spellcasters in your party, you can swap their spells any time you're not in combat by selecting them and pressing the K button. I never saw this tip in the game and honestly didn't think to check the keybinds for something like that. A friend I've been chatting with while we both play mentioned that and it changed the way I play.
Yeah, very useful to know for all of those utility spells that don't have much use in combat. Just keep your spellbook ready for battle, and switch out a utility spell when you need it. I'm not sure, but I think that spells like speak to animals (spells that last until the next long rest) stay active even after you've removed it from the spellbook.
This was important with downing Commander Zhalk for his weapon. Shadowheart has an ability to drop his weapon in combat but it's not on her bar unless you switch spells with the K button.
i wonder if this is a bug, because normally casters like wizards need a lot of time to prepare their spells and do this as part of a long rest. thats why i didnt even notice it until later in the game.

@@Greenalex89What's the trick to do this? I tried several times but most of time the potion only healed 1 party member. I already put them to stand close together and then threw the potion on the ground between them. They're all standing inside the splash area cursor too. So weird.

@@shiro2400 Doesn't matter, just ignore that popup and go to your camp. You can apply your supplies directly from that backpack that is in the traveler's chest.

No reason given even when I try examining object, it doesn't include description which could address it. As a result, feels inconsistent and I can't try different strategies reliably. - Invisibility, sneaking and crouching doesn't work equally everywhere and not because of lore reasons. In some environments NPCs will immediately notice when their possessions are touched, in others you can take stuff right behind them. This again makes it inconsistent and I can't try different strategies reliably. - You completed quest by a different approach? Now for some reason parts of quest-related-story are broken. This is also inconsistent so I don't know if I will break things next time or discover something interesting. I get that problems from such massive game do arise and I am ok with it. But it's not endless possibilities.

I just want to shout out to all the major developers out there who hated on BG3! They really helped make this game more popular for all the hate they threw on it. I noticed a specific interaction between high ground and the returning pike (possible other items) where when thrown from the high ground it has its thrown damage + some sort of fall damage it also does to the enemy and pushes them it also seems to deal the damage over the surface of the weapon so it's possible to hit multiple enemies (and allies) with it if they're lined up. I just finished the Goblin Camp section, playing as a druid, I wish I'd have seen this video earlier. I could have terrified them all HAHA! Well there is always the next playthrough!
If you wish to deny enemies access without destroying ladders simply have someone stand in front of it. No one can use the ladder if movement at either end is blocked.

Tip for vendors: Initiate conversation with a vendor using a party member with highest charisma, this will ensure the best prices; even when switching between party members within the trade/barter screen. Quick stop tip: Right clicking while your party member is moving will cancel the action and they'll just stop. Great if (like me) you accidentally clicked on a crate then quickly realised it'll be stealing if you loot it.
Regarding tip 17 and Turn Based Mode to set up ambushes etc. I have found that Turn Based Mode is the better way to do this, as previously I was just hitting G so everybody stops following and then I could position people... but during a combat it trigger my Karlach to level up and nobody else and I realized that splitting the group with G means splitting XP only to those party members that actually hit that enemy. So it's not a HUGE issue, but if you want avoid getting your party's XP out of wack... stick to turn based mode instead of ungrouping.
I’ve noticed the party exp is often off by a small amount 25-100exp but for me it’s due to them being inspired and getting exp that isn’t shared. However, after sending a player to camp then re-electing it seems to mostly reset of close enough. I’ve had party members split up and a full screen away for boss fights and somehow they all got the exp, so I really just think it’s an inspiration exp bug.

- One location has a destructible sentry, another location only let's you disable it through puzzle.
@@MartinzW dunno about 2 and 4 yet. number 1, i have been posts of doing disguises before doing speak with dead. So you don't look like the guy who killed the mob.
number 3. I read about people treating this differently by switching to turn based combat and there a key or something that gave sight radius of npcs/enemies.
@@animewatcha Speak with dead works well with disguises. It's the alive npcs that react inconsistently.
In some areas even with turn-based on, npc will turn around during your turn when doing something you shoudln't after which you should jump out of their line of sight. So there is workaround but it doesn't feel nice.
To quote the old wargame, 'Strategos': "Consider the possibility that anything can be attempted"
I just want to shout out to all the major developers out there who hated on BG3! They really helped make this game more popular for all the hate they threw on it. It brought more eyes on a game many would have slept on. They inadvertently raised the expectations by their hate. 😂
Remember everyone, its us who is to expect more and them to deliver on it. No excuses. Larian listened to us throughout EA and we see how much love and passion was brought into the game. A great game is worth waiting for when the developers listen to their community.
Divinity original sin 2.5 ..... not baldurs gate 3 👌
@@rayromano6249despite the pedantry of your reply, the game is set in the Forgotten Realms which makes it 100% D&D, don't care if mechanically it's the "same" but Divinity 2.5 it ain't.
@@rayromano6249 have you even played 5e?
BG3 isn't AL and isn't RAW. The majority of what people play isn't.
These are really useful tips. I have been having trouble with inventory management recently. The bagpack tips are the solution.
Thank you for not just putting out a list of poorly researched, false, obvious or otherwise useless things and actually teaching me a bunch of stuff I didn't know. I have seen so much awful content trying to capitalize on this great game that it's gotten hard to actually find anything good. Kudos
Blizzard and EA devs getting mad at this game for being so good it's the cherry on the top for me. Playing the game knowing that these greedy companies are going crazy about it, just adds more greatness to the experience.
Great job with the condensed and useful information. I basically didn't know about maybe 80% of this stuff
There are so many good ideas here, I am going to create a BG3Playlist and put this at the top for future reference. Incredible list!
Send chests with different names to the Traveller's chest. Then use those uniquely named chests to help organize inventory.
What you mean chests with different names?
many containers have different names. Opulant Chest, Peculiar clothing chest, Heavy Chest, Barrel, etc
@1:43 Minor note, they are spell slots, not skill points.
Find Familiar actually doesn’t take any resources as it can be cast as a ritual. But it still has a cool-down so do cast it before a short or long rest in case you need to do it again.
I had no idea Mage Hand was one of the strongest cantrips in the game 😳
This was only a fraction of what it can do, they had to nerf it before release because it was too easy to break the game over your knee using just mage hand.
They had to nerf it so that it needs short rest to be cast again. Even then it’s still broken
@@GewalfofWivia i watched a video is someone defeating Commander Zhalk on Tactician by summoning like 30 Mage Hands. They were able to bypass the short rest fix because of the healing pods which I think is genius.
What? I tought it was the most worthless? Why is it that good?
That is great list of 33 things! I did not know about most of the list. Fire backpack bomb, any source of fire, acid, to coat your weapons, etc.
Makes returning pike with ring of flinging pretty strong even into act 2
There's a really cool legendary trident you can find that has a magical enchantment that returns the trident to you every time you throw it.
It has other effects, like emitting a constant bright light, but the Captain America effect is the coolest.
Thrown objects apply crushing damage when thrown at something far below with the damage increasing as the height increases.
That Backpack nuke sound really nice!! Definitely gonna try that out!
This was actually great. There were 12 I didn't know and I was only expecting a few. Great work!
This game is really amazing in terms of possibilities..Cant wait to discover more stuff and watch all the crazy solutions people will come up with
I was actually surprised that I didn't know most of these. Thank you for sharing :)
Always have the fire bolt and ray of frost cantrips. These can clear out environmental hazards or make use of them in fights for no spell slot cost, and don't require resting to recharge. You can use them as much as you want outside of combat. In combat, they only require an action slot.
I just finished the Goblin Camp section, playing as a druid, I wish I'd have seen this video earlier. I could have terrified them all HAHA! Well there is always the next playthrough!
I saw someone comment on a different video that they threw the spider egg at Auntie Ethel and learned she's afraid of them.
If you wish to deny enemies access without destroying ladders simply have someone stand in front of it. No one can use the ladder if movement at either end is blocked.
It's hit & miss though. I've placed someone at the top of a ladder to try this, but the enemy still managed to climb up and both 3D models were on top of each other / clipped =/
I'll definitely be using that Backpack bomb. Have a boss or two that would work fantastically on.
You can throw healing potions (also other potions) to party members, so whole party members can heal with just one potion if they stick together! 👍
That last tip makes me wish "lie down" was a movement action like "jump," "shove," "sneak," "dash," etc.
Make sure you let Volo do his 'surgery' on you, that way you get the ability to "see invisibility".
Yeah thought I’d take him up on his offer and ended up with this, without any downsides to boot! Thought I’d have a perception penalty or something too
@@skullaverazThere was a penalty in EA but Larian removed it.
@@tagnetorare5401do you remember what it was? I didn't get to see this option in EA.
@@MirridonOnslaught disadvantage on perception checks.
@user-ob4kn3rp3j When my barbarian did it in EA it messed up and I lost the ability to crit after he popped out my eye....
Scared to try in case that's still a possible outcome lol.
You can also stuff all your sellables from camp into a backpack and sell the backpack. You can buy the backpack back afterwards.
This is actually a very well made, informative video. Kudos.
throwing the bag full of explosives was pretty epic :)
FYI familiars don't cost anything for wizards so as long as yours hasn't died since the previous long rest then you can just switch the spell in (because you can switch spells whenever you want for some reason), cast it, then switch the spell back out for something more useful and the familiar will stay.
I made a warlock on release, and I recently made a wizard, the wizard is just so much more versatile to me. What a great game. 😊
If you weren't aware, you can right click a spell scroll as a wizard and pay the gold cost to learn the spell.
@@mone2447 the best part of a wizard! ;)
@@mone2447 Yep and there's a button in the spellbook menu that lets you can learn a bunch at once and it tells you how much gold it will cost for the whole group
There are so many awesome ones but as a Druid the spider one is changing my life
Hey! I found the one other person playing a druid!
6:12 is a real game-changer, I had no idea!
As a wild shaped cat I jumped thru the gate that separates all of the goblins treasure from them.
Just like that I had 600+ GP and some awesome gear
Bro the mage hand and dropping bombs near it... .pure genius lol
I have 250+ hours in BG3 but here are still some things I did not know, or at least not used enough. Nice video, thanks.
BG3 is fantastic ❤
@@rhinoman86 Early access was only Act 1 and as it seems only a part of it. But the available parts were completed once or twice. I tried many possibilities and also saves did not work anymore after each big patch.
The backpack bomb and the O for high ground are amazing
From now on I will pick up all the Backpacks and pouches. I know u can organize ur Inventory but the Nuke? Wow!
The sending camping supplies to the camp is such a big help.
1:34 Why should I summon a familiar before long rest? It is a ritual spell. As long as I don't use it in combat it costs me nothing!
After I got hit by a boulder trap I rebound turn-based view to just space instead of shift-space. Now I have a simple reaction to freeze time and move my guys when they’re in trouble.
HAHAH that very last shot of Gale slipping on ice followed by his cat >.
The whole dip mechanism is quite silly, especially the fire dip. Candle dip? Dip from your own burned body? I understand the poison dip, but fire? Metal would just get warm, lol. It's not the same as dipping your dagger in poison.
WOW....this game is still amazing to me with tips and tricks like this video....Genius
Great video,, lots of info for only 8 minutes....had to watch twice
There is a trick with druid turning into bear/owlbear that has leap ability that does damage for affeted enemies in leap path based on creature weight and jump height, i.e. turn into owlbear, cast enlarge on it and jump-smash everything.
And one more: you can carry dead bodies with you via context menu, use later for necromancy.
A lot of these things are right in the pop up tutorials and stuff lol
But I didn’t know a bunch as well, good video! Thanks
You can also press switches and levers by shooting at them with a ranged weapon
The timing was perfect here.
"With enough explosives stuffed inside, the computer can't even keep up!" *cue explosion, game lags and suddenly Ad starts to play*
Lagged to the point it had to go to commercial break
That was pleasantly surprising... A few things I knew, but a lot that I had no idea about! Who would have guessed... It's a list video that actually has useful info.
4:47 yeah, blood rain was my goto spell in the DOS2 xD it was 1000% better than the water rain
oh!! I like the one of stuffing your backpack full of explosives and throwing it!!!
"33 Things You Didn't Know" i only did not know about the blowing up backpack. but nice vid anyway
I'm 100 hours into two playthroughs and there's tons of stuff I didn't know. Amazing video!
First video I actually learnt something new, thanks and great job!
"You won't have to waste skill points on getting them back!"
Find familiar is a ritual spell, if you cast it when you're not in combat, it costs you nothing but an action point, which you get back on your turn.
Dude, the backpack bomb and magehand to throw items is gold.
These actually are really useful tips.
- Send all barrels to camp (also water ones)
- You can steal things using darkness, so nobody can see what is inside.
- If enemy is yellow just put some barrels near him (you can also put barrels while hiding on red visible ground, it won't trigger a fight)
- There is enopugh food in the game for hard level - its completely the same difficulty.
- don't attack frog :)
That silence one is very useful
Everyone who loves Baldurs gate 3 and haven't played Divinity original sin 2, thats another gem and a game that isn't talked about enough. Sure I prefer BG3 but DOS2 is insanely good and pretty much on par with BG3.
I played Div Sin 2 b4 any baldur's gate. and i loved it, it felt free yet still familiar to the DnD / cRpg field. more casual / free-flow and wild sandbox-y than BG3 w/o the dices. I second this!
Tip for vendors:
Initiate conversation with a vendor using a party member with highest charisma, this will ensure the best prices; even when switching between party members within the trade/barter screen.
Quick stop tip:
Right clicking while your party member is moving will cancel the action and they'll just stop.
I had Shadowheart throw a book at Lae'zel to wake her up from a sleep enchantment, unfortunately it didn't work. I wonder if create water would have worked on sleeping targets.
This is one of the better BG3 videos. lol I have watched many of them, but none of them ever suggested that I fill up a backpack with explosive items and throw it at an enemy. ROFL
RIP my playthrough. Now i have to go back and get that flaming sword. So many good tips and tricks in this video. I will definitely be making backpack bombs for boss fights.
okay the high ground prone strat is pretty clever
Note to self start using mage hand and backpack bombs
The bag pack with explosives is a great idea, but I wouldn't know how people are finding that many explosives. I've been looting everything I find and outside of explosive barrels that I've been using here and there i haven't found THAT many of the others to fill up a backpack
Later in the game you can find a trader who sells explosives.
You lean to craft alchemist's fire in act 1 from gathering reagents.
@@suntiger745 fair enough with alchemists fire. I have that recipe. I was talking more about the other explosives but if there's a vendor later on that answers my question
A lot of this is carry over from DOS: 2, I had to get out of the 5e headspace to realize that spell selection was Larian based and not 5e.
Ok, out of the 33 things I found two that were useful. At least now I know the tactical mode allows you to target high ledges with misty step now.
A trick I use is to put one of your companions you're not using camp supply pack and alchemy bag in your camp chest, that way you can just unload your bags easily and keep it organized.
Imma use the backpack bomb! Thanks for the tip!
The controller play is fricking sweet it’s so cool to play the easy stuff casually sitting back then hop on m+k for serious stuff
I was gonna poopoo this advice until i realized I didn't know that you could drag and drop items from your inventory into the world.
I've been setting up cover on high ground with crates and stuff and moving my character behind them after every shot.
Another thing is watch out using fire spells around bookcases as you will destroy the books, accidently did this in the library looking for nightsong book knew where to find it but all books were burned...so yeah
You can also throw a heavy stone to detonate some traps. I tend to have 2 or 3 on me just in case.
Just now finding out about potion smashing
Easiest way to cover the vents is just to move the crates that are usually in the same rooms as them, or vases etc.
