Ian Kenny -- Vocals Andrew "Drew" Goddard -- Lead Guitar Mark Hosking -- Guitar Jon Stockman - Bass Steve Judd - Drums Karnivool is a five-piece music group from Perth, Western Australia. Their music style is a combination of melodic progressive rock and alternative rock, with alternative metal influences. Formed in 1998, Karnivool have since released several singles and one EP, and most recently their debut album Themata. Their new album, Sound Awake, was released in June, 2009 to critical acclaim.

I'm pretty sure this performance was before Sound Awake was released. You can see the difference in some of the lyrics. Considering that this was the first time they ever played this live, this is really fucking good.

Had the pleasure of opening up for these guys when they came on their first small US tour. Unbelievable band and some of the most down to earth musicians I've ever encountered

In Arizona when Karnivool came through the opener was called like Judgement Day or Judgement Night. They were half violins/strings and the rest guitars and drums. Just thought of them, gonna look up cause they were great.
You can tell this is from before anyone had heard the song. When they perform it now, the crowd drowns Kenny out. This is a nice contrast.
I love when they play all i know and Ian doesn't even bother at the end cos the crowd is so unbelievably loud.
That must be insane as an artist
Also to note that this gig was recorded prior to the release of Sound Awake. It is interesting to hear the lyrical differences between this and the album version!
That explains why I was confused about the lyrics changing all of a sudden. The album lyrics are so much better especially the part where he says "Are we waiting for the savior ? Someone to heal this or erase us." Those lyrics are so well sang.

Man that frikin bass line is fire !! I had the chance of watching them in India 10 years ago. I missed it. Biggest regret of my life. This has always been one of the most beautiful songs ever.

It's fkn awesome to experience them live. Most of the crowd at the show thought Monuments as pre-band was better - I think they just didn't know what was awaiting them and the direct energy was more exciting to them as the complexity of Karnivool.

Whoever gives the hearts on these pages, will this band ever do anything else? Would like to know, also if u have anything to do with Australian bands, will u plz tell them there marketing is terrible, I know it’s not the band but they are paying for it, where I live in the. USA, if I find an Australian band I like , everttime I turn it over and it’s been out for years, I don’t know why the us stations or clubs don’t play Australian bands because rite now I think they have it nailed so me. As a consumer would love to hear of more

this was filmed in 2008 before the song actually released and they ended up changing the lyrics when they recorded it.
