Viltrox has pulled way ahead in the lens game with other 3rd party makers. They have solved the formula on how to offer quality lenses at affordable prices. The 16mm and 20mm are on my wishlist after I survive the relapse of cancer. I am down to just my Z6II as the Z50 and Zf have to be scarified. But kudos to Viltrox!
Its mid morning here in Sebastian, Fl. ( Mid East coast ) and I had to check out Matt's new video. HIs videos are so well done, its like watching a movie, cinema , music , colors etc. He has it all. Then I'm watching the photos in comparing these two lens and I see ORANGE chairs at a sidewalk cafe. That's Matt's favorite color, thats why he has an orange watch band and an orange FZ. I have a black FZ unfortunately, couldn't get an orange one. My hope is that some company will sell replacement color swatches for the ZF......in orange. I'd buy them up in a New York minute. Well its time to finish my coffee and do some yard work in the sweltering humidity before it gets too hot. Thanks Matt for your videos. I have been watching your videos since the time you spoke about the possibility of Nikon using the new Z mount opening to fit in a large format sensor. That's around the time when so many RUclipsr ,photographer " want a bees" began putting out all kinds of anti Nikon propaganda, You were having none of that so a big thanks for being a "spokesperson" for the hobby of photography. Ted in Sebastian, Fl.
@@carlosandreviana9448 Honestly, yes. I would like a Nikon Lens. But with that said, I have owned the Viltrox 23mm, and the 56mm f1.4's as well as the Viltrox 85mm f1.8. I think that Viltrox lenses are nothing less than amazing for the price. Just some days I want Nikon glass. I sold those lenses during a time of financial need. I also have the Nikon 24mm....
Very interesting comparison. "that's what you're paying for" ist in all genres the difference from "very good" to "top notch". I'd be happy with the results of the Viltrox.
Very impressive indeed! USD$139, ... You can pay that for a Pol filter? True only a f1.2 can do what a 1.2 can do. However, I would suggest that a very high percentage of what we want or need to capture, doesn't need the 1.2? (Full daylight that is) Low light and night, .. 1.2 all the way. Thank's Matt for a very good review. As always.
I love my Viltrox lenses for Nikon: 75/1.2, 13/1.4 and 23/1.4 for APS-C and 85/1.8, 35/1.8 for FF. They are very good for their price range! Since two weeks I own the Sirui Sniper bundle 23/35/56mm for APS-C , each with f1.2 and AF! They are astonishingly good to use with 1.2 !!! I love using my Zfc and Z30 now. That’s what I ever missed before. I would love to hear about Matt’s thoughts about that Sirui Sniper lens bundle :-) And of course I would love a stabilized APS-C camera body from Nikon. Probably a replacement for the D7200/D500 dslrs ;-) But first I need to check about the latest Z6III news 8-)
Excellent video the comparison from both ends of the spectrum was a fantastic idea. Amazingly the Viltrox held its own. I think it’s really good that Viltrox are producing well made ,light, sharp and very reasonably priced lenses for Nikon Z cameras. I have the 20mm and I will be adding the 56 mm 1.7 . Thorough , fun and informative review as usual!! Thanks , Matt ! 😊😊
Nikon needs to up their APSC game, it’s still the biggest share of the camera market and they have 20mp, no IBIS and 1/4000 SS? Who buys that? If anything, this video pushed me to buy the Fuji 50 f1.0 to get that FF look on APSC at a quarter of the price.
Sounds great for those on a budget or even if you are high end amatuer and just need a knock around camera or one you can leave in the car to have one when you need it Matt. :-)
The Price is the reason for DX. No FX mirrorless is in the under $1000 USD price range. The Size comparison is another reason for DX cameras and lens. In the Film days APC size came to market after the 35MM was dominant.

Thanks Ted. Means a lot. Cheers. Matt. 📸😀
Looks like another winner from Viltrox. Thanks for the review Matt!
Sure is. Thanks Ray. 😀📸
I wish Nikon would offer something like this... I love my 40 and 28... but really want a budget portrait lens...
Why not this one? Because it is not nikon?

I may need to look at these Viltrox lenses more.
You certainly do! They're great.
Great review: intelligent, straight to the heart of the matter with no slow moments. Thank you Matt. Subscribed and liked…
Thanks Matt! It’s great the way you give the cheaper lenses your time and thoughts, top man.

Thanks Matt! Looks like another win for Viltrox. It would be interesting to compare with the Sigma lens.
A very good point!

Excellent review as well, detailed, excellent video editing!
Much appreciated!
I don't understand one thing. Is this lens 56mm on FX body or DX body? How would it be on my Nikon Z30? 80mm or 56mm? Thanks for info!
Amazing lens!!!!
Awesome review! Just wondering, has anyone compared this to the TTArtisan 56mm f1.8? I’ve heard it’s sharper.
The white balance looks different at the 15:00 minute mark or is that just the differences in the lenses?
I thought that, but I’m pretty sure some of the lights are changing colour, so it’s not clear cut.

This is why we only need fx. During the film days it consolidated to 35mm
