Hi Panjno briliant tutorial, i follow you from a lot of time, and the last experimental metod with decimal setting, has complitely improve my graphic percepion in game a way much smooth now..a very big improvment, thank you bro :D
For the experimental part of this video, you can actually do it for your mouse too, copy the same path as shown in the video until Services and make sure you make a Parameters folder if you don’t already see one . Afterwards, proceed to look for “mouclass”, by pressing “m” on your keyboard then if it is not already there, right click anywhere on the right box on the right side of regedit, click new, Dword32BitValue, name it “MouseDataQueueSize”. Finally, change the value to 16 (for the lowest latency possible- recommended for really high end computers ), 20-30 (recommended for high-mid end computers) and 40-50 (for low tier computers).
You forgot to mention the experimental registry tweak but for mouse Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\mouclass\Parameters I go with 16 for mouse and 15 for keyboard, keyboard can go lower than mouse but it depends on your hardware
@@garfridges628 I think it depends more on the hardware of the mice and keyboard more than the PC itself, I had a regular g pro wireless and could only go as low as 20, bought a g pro wireless superlight and it goes down to 16
Mouse and keyboard queue sizes is such a rabbit hole. Some people think that making the queue size smaller results in more and faster packet transfer but from what I've researched it doesn't really matter as long as your transfer rate is high enough. With USB2 and USB3 your transfer rates are extremely fast and might not need adjustment; especially when using appropriate ports. If you're using an old USB mouse or keyboard you may find it useful to reduce the queue size. There are also people who swear by PS/2 ports over USB because of the hardware interrupts that are built into those system specs. USB interrupts happen a few instructions later in the stack. All-in-all queue sizes are mostly placebo unless you're running old hardware.
@@Panjno If you want to go deeper it actually depends on what sensor you're using as higher fidelity sensors push more data to the queue than others (EX: Logitech 16k vs 25k HERO sensor). What happens is that it's very dependent on your specific mouse and keyboard and when you set the buffer/queue size too low the packets don't have enough room and overflow, which is why you see skips/misclick/noclicks at low sizes. That's why it's suggested to play with the size and see what happens. Finding the proper packet size for your specific sensor/keyboard is hard because no one tends to publish that information - even on their data sheets. 😭

All of that latency and pixel skipping at low DPI is misinformation. DPI is about how far you have to move your mouse to register an input and nothing else. It functions essentially as a deadzone. 400 inputs per inch, 800n and so on. 2.4 at 400 DOES NOT feel the same as 1.2 @ 800 and so on. Higher dpi will register every little movement in your hand, intentional or not. Of course RUclips DPI tests will show lower latency on higher dpi because of how far the mouse must move. They don't actually have any controlled tests on the subject. It doesn't mean high dpi will actually lower your latency. Optimizing graphics settings and getting stable frametimes is far more beneficial. Latency is a non issue in 2022. Stabilty and consistency are king. Most pros use 400 because it is more consistent and that is that period. No speculative nonsense about "legacy settings" and all that.
Well to be fair. There are better ways to test input latency when it comes to dpi. Optimum Tech made a really good video showing how dpi affected input latency. I think it’s called “ why gamers are switching to high dpi. The problem with higher dpi is that the higher you go the harder it is to find a sensitivity because some games don’t let you just type in a sensitivity. But the difference between 400 and 800 is nice in terms of the lower input latency at 800. But passed 800 is not that big of a difference. In that video, sound and light is being used to test it. Very very good video. But at the end of the day it’s all preference. Plus the thing about what you said with moving the mouse a little vs moving it more than that is also tested in the video and higher dpi had a bigger difference in lower input latency with small movements.
@@Xyros0 exactly who I am referring too. Of course, higher dpi will test out at a lower latency, because you have to move the mouse less far to register an input. You can raise it to add mobility to a more restrictive mouse shape or lower it to give more predictability to a more agile shape. But I wouldn't recommend raising DPI purely to gain a negligible advantage in motion latency. There are more important parts of your setup that contribute to that.
also saying that high dpi = lower imput lag is so stupid. (not to mention that its not even input lag we are talking about no mouse can nativelly support 800 dpi, the sensor would have to be about 2 inches big and 6 inches above surface. higher dpi just means that it divides pixels, into smaller one introducing noise. so higher dpi doesnt mean lower imput lag, use any dpi you feel comfortable with if its dividable by 4 (about that pixel splitting)
USE THE HIGHEST DPI YOUR MOUSE HAS! this has proven to have better input lagthan every other dpi setting and you can still have the same edpi (or idpi idk) as your old dpi setting!
Great video, like always! One thing i have to add though is that capping my fps with RTSS added about 10ms of input delay in fortnite. After i capped it in the game files, it felt much more responsive.
Because that's exactly how it works. It gives a smoother frame times performance but it comes at a huge cost of latency. It's insane how he never even mentions it.
Correction: Repeat rate should be set on slow on keyboard to get a faster input latency Higher mouse DPI is ALWAYS better because it reduces input lag and it makes it so your mouse registers much small movements as well so NEVER set it below 1600 if you want good accuracy
i was using RTSS in CSGO and it ruined my experience. It capped fps at 70fps (laptop) and 60hz built in monitor. I had zero issues with fps. My accuracy was terrible. I removed whole launch parameters. Stopped using RTSS and now its much easier to hit shots. So RTSS in source '1.5' might mess with mouse input for some laptop users
Your games visual consistency has so much more to do than with just FPS and frame times or the speed and interval that frames are rendered, there's also factors that could be even more important like the compiling processing and relaying of mouse data and keyboard data to your game which will make the visual response to your mouse input so much more reflective of your physical input. The mouse acceleration fix explained in the video dramatically helps though it actually messes up some games like Apex and should be experimented with before using. FPS and frame time is only half the story! Also see audio device drivers and extra unnecessary audio devices for more lesser known improvements

If u play low sens 1600 dpi just doesn’t feel right .I played 1600 apex at 0.75 and by switching to 400dpi 2.0 and using my arm to aim feels much better .dont buy into the low latency crap if it dosen t feel good .Do what feels good to u .Great video btw.
1600/400=4

It "doesn't feel right" because you are using a different sensitivity. You should be using 0.5 in game.
