Well, this is awkward. The Porsche CEO recently said: "The concept of the 911 doesn't allow for a pure electric car because we have the engine in the rear and if the weight of the battery were moved to the rear you couldn't drive the car. For this decade it's very clear to me that the 911 will be a car with an ICE." And yet, the clever guys and girls at Everrati have created a 'Signature' wide-body 911 to make us all drool. Now obviously, not that many of us will be able to afford this car, but we think it's very existence can create converts to electric. And that can only be a good thing.

Now obviously, not that many of us will be able to afford this car, but we think it's very existence can create converts to electric. And that can only be a good thing. Would you like to see more ICE cars converted to EV?
Classics with rubbish engines yes, but porches and e-types im not so sure...
@@Alster370 the law changed where I live, zero emissions zone.
I cannot drive an e-type home. This 911 however...
Absolutely!!! I hope to make my TVR EV conversion worth the the money and effort! 💪⚡😁
This is an Epitome
This feels like a weekend EV for people who want to greenwash the fact they drive Range Rovers during the week.
kWh? Range? AC charge speed? DC charge speed? charge port location? Luggage space? This would be much better to know vs. being reminded about 911 weight distribution for the 3, 4, and 5th time. The power and weight specs were provided, but that is not enough in my opinion.
I really really like it. What a special little thing.
The fake exhaust hurts, but the dash, the retomod feel. It's just epic. Just that tiny little bit that spoils the classic and ubiquitous v's to the die hard porsche classic fanatic.
I love an outlaw, and love a signature style. Done cover it with noise. Be true to the car you've built. And people will love you more for it.
I think Jack should now drive Electric Classic Cars 911 EV. Two different approaches and prices. I'm pretty sure there are versions of the 911 which cost as much as this but with IC motors. This looks as good as I've seen, and it sounds as if it is worth the cost.
BTW does anyone remember when Jeremy at old Top Gear discovered that his Ford GT 40 only had a range of 75 miles? The Stig ran out of fuel while thrashing it round their circuit!
Didn't say what batteries they used, didn't run through the controls on the dash, didn't show us the motor, or under the bonnet, didn't mention about regen braking, didn't mention if it had air con, didn't mention what the holes in the bumper were for. This review left me wanting 😯
I don't like the colour or the wheels but I love the way they've copied the weight and created a swap-able package for the drivetrain. And Jack, you're a great presenter, I love your style
This video made it official: You're better than the "good old" Top Gear.
😯
That car is absolutely jaw-droppingly gorgeous and the fact that it's an EV only makes it even more attractive.
I'd appreciate your looking to do an electric conversion to my 2006 diesel Berlingo. That would be great.
I've been watching Fully Charge Show for years, this car has to be the best car you've had on the show.
What is so interesting about this is Porsche have said they can't make a BEV 911.
They've been proven wrong!
this has the same feel as the Charge Cars Mustang for me, they have gone for more updates (the large iPad like dask for one) but this idea of taking original car shells, redoing it from the ground up, retaining the weight distro, beating on perf etc. is working
Agreed! Charge Mustang coming to the channel soon btw
@@JackScarlett1 looking forward to seeing your thoughts on that to
993 as an electric - this must be Heaven !!!
**anorak on** it's a 964 sir
@@Munkenba I know, sorry for misleading you - But I am looking for an 993e - this 964 is really nice - but Not already the cream topping on the cake !!!
a great way to save old cars
Stunning conversion, well done Everrati! My choice of cars to convert would be a Ferrari Dino 246 or a Jaguar XJS V12, as both deserve to live on as we move further into the EV era.
Amazing. Reminds me on my 1966 Mustang full EV Conversion. Fun to drive
What a fantastic car! Thank you for sharing this story with us. And, Kudos to you for being the rare presenter who pronounces the company name correctly.
They need to do away with the fake exhaust. That’s just preposterous.
Isn't it an official requirement because of pedestrian safety?
It doesn't have to be turned off as they showed in the video.
Think he means the pipes
I would think for that money, they'll delete the pipes for you no questions asked.
@@krugerdave I would think for the money, that they wouldn’t do the adult equivalent of putting a playing card in your spokes.
A stand out gorgeous looking car, from every angle. My brother has the Carrier 4 of this car so I’ll definitely be sending him a link.
I also want to say what a very slick production you guys are turning out, case in point, @ 5:49 that shot was just 👌.
What a great addition to Fully Charged you've been. So glad you joined the team.
Well Porsche, over to you! the impossible turned out to be just a lack of imagination and giving some of your engineers a shed for the weekend.
They would be crucified for offering a 150 mile car.
And modern cars are heavier empty anyways.
As cell technology improves, EVs will weigh closer to petrol equaivalents. Some other engineering such as cell to chassis integration (disposable batteries, effectively) may assist this.
@@Cloxxki I wonder how many miles an Ice 911 does? I doubt it would be more than 50-60 just like every other car. And 150 is usually beyond toilet break distance
This car is a lack of imagination, they took a characterful chassis and threw bullshit science at it just to show you have to call their company to have any car converted to EV.
@@Cloxxki not if the point of the car is just fun driving. No one would ever use a 911 for long-distance trips anyway. Especially if they can throw 200+ kW charging in it. With building it as an EV they could likely get it to 200-250 miles with less power-hungry components. I'm guessing we’ll see one around 2025 ish.
For me the CEO’s magic words were “fully reversible”. (This should appease worried potential caretakers of the national science museum in the year 2100 when parents of young children want to show their kids how vehicles were powered back at the end of the fossil-fuelled industrial revolution). I think most “keeper” vehicles will end up like this after 2040…..
I've always loved your presenting style, Jack - I've watched you on "the other" channel for many, many months... you've always had a rapier wit and a sense of fun in your videos, which makes them so watchable...
But, with this particular video... man... you made me feel quite emotional, I can tell you...!
The love and adoration you have for Porsches came through in bucket-loads...
Just fabulous 'work' ( ! ) and your final comments about classics genuinely now having the option to be 're-imagined' for a new EV era without losing what it means to be "them" was truly prophetic, dude...
Date night coming....
Thank you as always mate!
I think just the opposite ... 🤔 feels more and more like any other auto show with masculine dudes feeling masculine driving muscle cars 🚗 🙄🤦♂️
Who of the original audience of this channel wants this ?! I want Robert telling me how he has no clue of cars and saying that the visibility is pretty good 😅😆😔
Definitely your best video.. That's an absolute legend, pleasure to watch. That's an unbelievable car. Sorry to mention that's my all time favourite car..
It is great that they have kept the car so original and made it for performance and not range to keep the weight so low.
What is he range of the original combustion vehicle?
@@0ooTheMAXXoo0 At 26mpg on a full tank it would have been 442 miles but obviously enthusiastic driving would drop that figure. Also as stated in the video this car was built for speed and lightness to have fun.
Can't remember the last time I watched one of your videos and it had much relevance to me.
250,000 English Pounds for a fun weekend driver? I suppose that it may convert some car enthusiasts but it’s so far out of reach for the average person, so rarified, it seems almost irrelevant to the average driver.
The average driver never owned a 911 in the first place, so nothing is changing.
The average driver can do with an electric vauxhall vectra…
That is 250k on top of the original donor car. That original donor car would cost plenty to begin with.
Nice review! Somewhat pricy, but properly (i.e. minimally) EV retrofit.
I would like a Citroen DS EV retrofitted, the smoothest ride complemented by a smooth sound.
Love IT,, This just show how old cars can be redone to a EV !!!
Jack saying he wanted his Golf made into an EV was timely. I was watching this thinking our E-Golf really does retain its ICE history and is a fun drive.
I'd love to see what everrati can do to a countach !
Really great video. Well done fully charged!
best episode so far, the craftsmanship that went into that beauty is mind boggling you can't even tell it's carbonfiber
Porsche tried to replace the 911 with the 928 in the 70's but the 928 was consigned to the history books. Can you imagine if history repeats itself and Porsche actually built an electric 911 and then found out that the Taycan found itself in the next chapter in Porsche history.
It will be great to see the engine bay and battery module
One my favorite cars in the late 60's was the BMW 2002. In the day it was a great daily driver. With all the glass and excellent visibility it would be like a fishbowl compared to the cars now. Love to see an really good ev conversion of the 2002. Back in those days in Germany they had a set of latches you would put on the trunk and the trunk lid. It would make a spoiler of the trunk lid. We thought the hot 2002's was their version of the Malibu SS 396 and the other hot American cars. Also the car that caught our attention was the NSU R080. Loved the wedge look. Looked fast sitting still.
Did vintage voltage not do a 2002?
i agree about the best sound setting being off.
5 minutes on the alcantara and nothing on specs like acceleration, top speed, motor design, battery specs. It's an EV, these are the important things. By the way, I saw my first EV-modded 911 at Jack Rickard's first EVTV convention in 2011. It had a dual-motor setup with 356 horsepower. 10 years ago.
Given that it is a pre-production car it is possible that those stats are under embargo and or not finalised.
Iirc he mentioned that the car has 500 hp, weighs about 1350 kg and range is 150 miles. For the buyer of these kinds of vehicles that should be enough info to raise interest and do some mental math about the acceleration etc. Especially for a tailor made vehicle like this they might have some tricks up their sleeves how they got it working and don't want to reveal that info at this time of production. I'd also guess that the mentality is that if you need to ask it, you can't afford it.
And this is what modern manufacturers need to do: create EV's for enthusiast drivers. Most people who buy EV's now probably don't like driving, and they do it out of necessity (i.e. poor access to public transportation).
If even one or two manufacturers can come out with a full-EV sports car, that creates that "analogue feel" of this thing, in a package that is reasonably affordable, they'll bring about a revolution in the enthusiast market.
Yes, lots of people love cars for the sounds of the ICE under the hood, but the cost of fossil fuels is going to force many out of their favourite cars into things that don't come close in terms of driving experience, and that's a huge untapped market.
How about featuring a more affordable conversion which might be more inspirational to the masses to do the same?
Yes! I looked into doing a conversion back in the day; there used to be a whole lot of conversion kits for Beetles that were super simple but effective, from what read. Not sure if there's much of that old grassroots DIY conversation scene (think Kiwi EV) still around though, now that people can get a better full EV for less, probably. Still, I'd still love to have a Scirocco II EV!
Absolutely, we're really keen to do some entry-level conversion stuff soon. Stay tuned.
Zero info on the motor used or the batteries? DC fast charge rate? So much missing info here :(
ALL the nerd stuff was missing - probably for a reason ...........!
@@andymccabe6712 EV West has been doing this for years...no need to hide the tech
And here we have the boss of Porsche saying, last week, that they couldn't make an electric 911.... Don't they have the talent over in Germany?
It would have been nice to see some shots under the hood/car.
Agreed but you wouldn't have liked it, I think. This is pre-production and you can imagine there will be unfinished elements and perhaps the odd bit of gaffer tape around. Not much to see even when these things are fully done.
@@MrAdopado you’ve got a point there and I think that applies to the general viewer. To those of us who do this kind of work and love the potential beauty of disassembled guts, sometimes the uglier something is under the hood, the more interesting it is.
Fantastic video! I love everything about this.
Often wondered what would happen to all those Classic Cars in a Post Oil Economy. Would they just end up as Museum pieces. Well this shows they can have a new life. One of these pulling in beside me at the Fast Charger would bring a smile to my face.
I feel exactly the same. Warms my heart to know old classics can live again as EVs
RUF did an electric car prototype about 17 years ago and even brought it to the uk briefly. Mr RUF went as far as setting up his own hydroelectric power station. Don’t know why he didn’t continue developing the car. Maybe just too early for battery tech
I can't wait to have a go in this 😉⚡💪
"My favorite setting..... Off" well played 😂
Absulutley love Jack's narration, he really keeps audience captivated. I do however have to say all this was is a 17 minute long advert for Everrati. I would like to see more time spent on cars for the masses not expensive 250k one offs.
Beautiful! I'd love to see a Singer Porsche re imagined do this. I'd love to see Jack get over to L.A to cover such an occasion. I know that Singer are the best in terms of absolute quality.
Would like to convert my Kia Sportage but can find no one who does this for not a lot of money. Great vlog! Keep it up.👍😁
Converting is a costly game at the mo - but it won't be that way forever!
Love it. I want one. Very good review. Glad you've joined the Fully Charged Team Jack. I like the content so far.
Thank you Mr Badger!
Bring on the old classic car transplant evolution. 😁 I want to be a part of that!
Agree 100%
Oi some of us mums and grandmums are still more than capable of driving that motor on account of some us have been driving since before you were an egg sunshine!
Great vid, thoroughly enjoying it but did have to pause it to remonstrate with you, you young whippersnapper you! 😜
This is just brilliant (no matter the cost) these beautiful machines need no longer be put away in disgrace. They can come and shine their magnificence on those of us who can only dream once again!
Great video, and what a great car! I'm planning to convert my 1966 VW 1.200 beetle.
Great episode thanks. If I could convert a classic it would have to be my first car, a Mini 1275 GT. It would certainly improve it and be a great runaround.
If I had the money, I'd convert a Duesenberg to EV.
That car is a work of art...
The BMW CSL 3.0, a nice classic, plenty of room for batteries and power! A nice comfy interior, new lights, brakes etc to keep it safe and passengers safe. Loadsa money though.
Excellent video
More conversions. It's the way of the future :-)
Love the sentiment at the end.
WOW... I was salivating watching this.
I like that they painted it Midlife Crisis Red and not black. It looks much better with a red paint job than the traditional Cockroach Black some folks like.
Nice
Yes a Tesla might beat but a Tesla will never have the soul that a Porsche 911 has.
Seeing those Aircraft Shelters brings back some memories I was stationed at RAF Woodbridge from 1988 to 1990 I worked in that kind of Shelter they could house two A10's each.
Nice vehicle. Impressive conversion. Never owned one. I had a TR6 roadster in college. I miss it. Could never afford this model stock or electronic.
Mixed feelings
That's the way to do it!
This video is so dope i hope more companies start converting their vehicles to electric
I like that shade of red, almost as i like the car. WOW. :D
This new presenter is a easy listen 👍
Lovely car, hell of a price tag, but I'm curious, why take a 964 apart, and throw away/swap out pretty much everything, why not just start with a chassis? The paint job is to die for, lovely rich colour. Nice review Jack.
As fabulous as it is even I as a senior executive in a PLC is never going to be able to stretch to affording it. Stick an electric motor in a Morris Traveler for me.
Well done
What a gorgeous machine 😍
Porsche said themselves that they can't make an electric 911. It's impossible. Lmao
No, they said they won’t do one for now. It’s different.
@@dalexa Probably because they can't currently do one with what they regard as acceptable range ??
Well it is impossible for a company with shareholders to produce a niche market 250Kilo quid toy that only goes 150miles between muli-hour recharges. Yeah.
@@TernaryTrout yeah. They shown that they can make a good performance electric with the Taycan but it’s too heavy. Battery tech needs to evolve and until then, the Ice continues to be the best choice.
@@dalexa plaid already proved that wrong
I've always wanted to do a Scirocco II... Maybe someday 😬
I used to own a 993 with a Remus sports exhaust and my fondest memories blitzing around Nurburgring was the analogue noise it made. I’d still trade that for an EV equivalent.
Wow. High praise!!
That's just filth. Glorious, unadulterated filth. Love it.
Jack, did you say the speedometer didn't work? WOW!!! And all that money. But love your review, thanks
Love that you pronounce "Porsche" right!
I have a 964 targa which sounds amazing and is great fun to drive, but reality is coming and at some point I might not be able to. At least there is a path for these beautiful cars. Though I have just started searching for 964s without engines to see if I can snap one up
Although not a sport car by any means I think that I would love to see the classic 57 Chevy made electric. The Porsche may convert a few ICE car lovers but I think that the Chevy would convert a few more of us 'old-timers' (not that i am not already converted).
150 miles of range? Nothing to worry about. if those batteries are serviceable and knowing that battery tech is developing. Soon, the range of that beauty will rise. Just wait a few more years. But for now, it may be a weekend driver and a daily driver to be.
150 miles with fast charging is ok. You are most probably an old duffer with bladder issues if you can afford this.
@@markthomasson5077 LOL!!!!
EV West in California USA builds this model 911 and 912 quite often for much, much less. They even offer kits with tesla motors for the DIYer for about $35k.
Something I've become aware of is that the Japanese made lots of midengine cars just for the Japanese market and midengine cars make fantastic electric cars.
My dream build is a last gen newest MR2. I just don't want to abuse a 2nd gen. But 3rd gen is the perfect platform without the heritage sensitivity.
I would love to do an MR2. Would only need a low power motor to be fun! 💪⚡👍
I'd love to EV a Toyota Sera if I won the lottery.. probably spend WAY too much for a one of a kind car but it would sure be fun to do!
@@martinclark9636 thats an interesting car to EV. Works well with the styling, always looked ahead of its time 🤔⚡💪
Try and review you an electric campervan, would be great to see
This is really nice and cool (you got a like from me very quickly) but I really want to see a EV conversion company that converts for example a first gen MB A-class, for 10000 euros or something using salvaged parts. I'll never see a quarter of a million of... anything in my life anyway *sadlol*
I want this now 😍😍🥰
Thanks for another great video thanks great car and even better as a 911 ev! A ev Honda S2000 or civic late 00 type r ! Or Boxster or mx5 !
This thing needs to go round the Nurburgring. What a beauty..
The fake exhaust truly ruins this build as it makes it seem “pretend.” But the concept is killer and spot on, these will be beautiful and hopefully the “exhaust” can be an opt out option.
I love this!
Impressive!
My wife and I have owned a '69 911T, '83 911SC, '86 Carrera, and a '96 993 for a total of 59 vehicle years and never felt that we were "wrestling" the steering, not a "workout" at all.
One gets the feeling of watching a sales presentation. Everything is wonderful, white clouds in the sky and birds singing their songs.
The everatti guy needs a bigger jacket that fits him!
…or less pies?
Good stuff
"Let's create a pollution-free version of a car, and then add (noise) pollution back in!" Other than that, beautiful project.
Yeah the fake exhausts and fake noise really don't interest me. They'd also make cause a lot of confusion and arguments at public chargers 😅
@@JackScarlett1 I saw this at Goodwood and the exhaust was confusing everyone 😂
I would love to see countach and nsx conversions
But why not still make it a Manual you can shift Gears in, probably weight and complexity + finding a Transmission that can withstand the Torque, but still would be pretty cool.
It would be VERY cool and I definitely think we'll see a few EV conversions that retain their manuals in the future (although I can't imagine what an engineering headache that would be). That being said, I reeeeally didn't need more things to think about at the wheel of this car and was grateful to be able to keep both hands on the wheel.
