If the angels would play music at your arrival to the heaven, it must be the Bach Kantata conducted by you. Thank you Maestro Harnoncourt, you will be missed badly. R.I.P.
Every time I listen to the introduction of first chorus of this cantata, I can imagine the entrance of the heaven. I know several versions but no one can beat this version.
I know Im randomly asking but does anybody know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost my login password. I love any assistance you can give me.
@Erik Blaine Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and Im trying it out now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.

Today(12/6) is Harnoncourt's birthday so I commemorate him who led me to the world of the period instruments performance as a deep Baroque Music listener. And this is one of my favorite Bach cantata of all. When I always listen to the first coro of this cantata with his conducting, I imagine the entrance of Heaven. I believe that Maestro Harnoncourt is with Bach and playing heavenly music together there.
R.I.P. Nikolaus was one of the seminal musicians to initiate me to music as a teenager. His Bach cantatas with the also late Leonhardt are one of the biggest achievement of the recorded music.
The Chainsmokers' "Closer" has almost 1,200,000,00 views and this has 223,414. I'm feeling very disappointed in humanity right now. However, that will be forgotten in a month. The masterpieces of Bach are timeless.
Possibly the greatest cantata ever - it is certainly my favourite. I am so glad that I decided to learn German in an evening class in Cardiff more than 40 years ago.
I can't really begin to state how much I admired Harnoncourt and how much I learnt (and will keep learning) from him. It was somewhat expected but still really, really sad.
Perfection. Excellent orchestra and strong choir. As Classical, especially Baroque music, should be. And historically informed performance with period instruments!
In the beginning of this video, Harnoncourt looks like dancing to the music and it is fascinating to me. Music is in our body. It is a way to connect to the nature and other humans. Likewise, "Bach" is in each human's body and mind. Our challenge is never giving up trying to reach it.
This is the first time I have listened to the complete Kantata BWV 147. Most people know the famous last movement. However, the other parts of the Kantata are outstanding as well. Thank you for uploading this brilliant musical composition.
How wonderful to hear the original setting of "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." According to Wikipedia, this is the translation from the first chorale when it is sung: Well for me that I have Jesus, O how tightly I hold him that he might refresh my heart, when I'm sick and sad. Jesus I have, who loves me and gives himself to me, ah, therefore I will not leave Jesus, Even if I feel my heart is breaking. And the second chorale: Jesus remains my joy, my heart's comfort and essence, Jesus fends off all suffering, He is my life's strength, my eye's desire and sun, my soul's treasure and pleasure; Therefore I will not leave Jesus out of heart and face
Not that i'm a christian btw, but Bach transcends every damn thing. My dad was a Christian and Catholic rather than Lutheran but above all a good guy. I requested this wonderful chorale at his funeral service but refused to request it in the well-known but not very accurate and not very beautiful English translation - it took about 10 minutes for the PP to realise that Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben was what he knew as Jesu joy etc...
Never a missed note really. I think the Cantata cycle he did with Leonhardt must rank among the greatest achievement in classical music recording - we'll certainly never hear boy choirs at that level again.
Nikolaus Harnoncourt (1929-2016).
It' was a great conductor, a great musician.
An excellent interpreter of baroque music.
I love the conductor’s facial expressions and the emotion he puts into it.
Music and performance is to die for. Having this on a desert island is all that the soul would need!
