    Nova. Not sure if you realized it or not since you didn’t mention it. But Hyper Blaze counts your opponents trap cards as well as your own. Also a deck that I had joked about throwing the Sacred Beasts in with my friends was D/D/Ds. Since you already run Fiends, continuous spells, and continuous traps. Not saying it would work. But it would be funny.

      Hi, not Sacred Beasts but Yubel D/D/D is pretty funny
      NS Dark Beckoning -> Spirit Gates -> Another Dark Beckoning because haha engine piece
      Use your second NS from Dark Beckoning on Kepler. Kepler -> Gate Contract -> Lamia, send Gate Contract to GY to SS Lamia, use Kepler and Lamia to make Gilgamesh, pend scale Kepler and Orthos.
      Link away Dark Beckoning for Almiraj so you have a Spirit Gates target in GY
      Use Spirit Gates, pitch Yubel, SS Yubel
      You now have Yubel with Almiraj as Tribute, and more Dark Beckoning in hand that you can use for future Tribute fodder
      On your subsequent Standby Phases, Kepler in pend scale will destroy your own Yubel, giving you the opportunity to upgrade it
      After you reach Ultimate Nightmare, use Orthos in your other pend scale to destroy Kepler so you don't end up popping Ultimate Nightmare as well
      Bonus Gilgamesh to float into any D/D/D extra, like Siegfried or Purple Armageddon

    I really appreciate how each of their "attack name" support was made to match their summoning material. I've always wondered if Uria could be a weird tech pick in a theoretical pure Vision HERO deck, since they count as continuous traps while in the S/T zone, much like how Hamon works in Crystal Beasts.

    before the structure deck release, my buddy splashed Uria and Hamon into his True Draco deck, with all the continous spell/traps it uses to run it worked kinda consistantly, the sacred beast might not been untargetable menaces like MasterPeace or Metaltron XII, but having a huge atk stat in the side pocket (which pretty much no one expected) came in handy pretty often for him.

    I don’t know why, but I really like this archetype. I don’t know if it’s because of the visual/effectual similarities to the Egyptian God Cards, I don’t know if it’s because the support can make them unstoppable engines of destruction, or if it’s because my first experience with then came in the form of Phantasmal Martyr where I saw Uria and though “hey, it’s Slifer the Sky Dragon”, but whatever it is, I love these guys. Even bought three copies of their structure deck and now have my own custom made Sacred Beast deck

    A simple "messenger of peace" is a good continuous spell to put in since it stops your opponents monsters from attacking if you brick on getting out the beasts.
    And also, during each standby phase, you can choose to pay the 100LP maintenance cost or destroy messenger of peace. Destroy it when your big monsters are ready to attack. And if you have the Spirit Gates spell on field, you can just bring it back to your hand for free to play it every main phase 2 so that the opponent can't (for example) attack with an XYZ monster and go into Zeus to wipe your board.

One thing I find though is the Extravagance may seem like a good idea in Sacred Beasts but it conflicts with Fallen Paradise and doesn’t let you draw from when ideally you want to end with it on board turn 1. • @Lunaraia
    @Lunaraia 2 года назад +13

    Funfact: you can use spirit gates to special summon the monster you pitched to its effect, provided you have a monster with 0 attack and def in the grave already. So, you could discard Dark Summoning Beast, special summon it and summon a Sacred Beast while still retaining our normal summon, if another 0/0 fiend was in the grave.

    • @baukepoelsma
      @baukepoelsma Год назад

      I'm not following the terminology and sequencing of YGO anymore... "Once per turn:" is the condition, "You can discard 1 card;" is the cost, "special summon 1 Fiend monster with 0 ATK/DEF from the GY" is the effect. So in order to activate the effect you need to meet the conditions, but the effect itself needs to be "activatable", meaning, having a 0 ATK/DEF Fiend in your GY also becomes a condition?? And the effect only happens AFTER you paid the cost...so since you paid the cost already you suddenly have another 0 ATK/DEF Fiend in your GY you can chose from to special summon. Common, how can an effect dictate its own condition, which need to be met before activation, and at the same time, after paying the cost the properties of another card not used for meeting the condition changes so that it now happens to meet the same conditions, its still okay to use that changed card in the effect??

    • @Lunaraia
      @Lunaraia Год назад +1

      @@baukepoelsma The effect can be activated as long as the condition(s) for its activation is valid. In this case, to activate the effect of Spirit Gates, there MUST be a 0/0 Fiend in the graveyard that it can target on resolution BEFORE activation can take place, and THAT particular copy of Spirit Gates cannot have used this effect already, this turn.
      Once those activation requirements are met, costs are paid, in this case, a card is discarded as cost. That's the important part. The cost is paid before targets are selected.
      Because of this, the card you discarded for cost is in the graveyard before you select a target to bring back, and is thus a valid target for the effect if the discarded card is a 0/0 Fiend.

    For the names, this is what I could find :
    - Uria coming from Uriel makes sense, since Uriel, meaning "Fire of God", is one of the four archangels. Even though he isn't really related to fire in its depictions (he is modtly associated with summer alongside being a major archangel along with Michael, Gabriel and Raphael), it is by far the most meaningful connection with the YGO monster it represents.
    - Raziel is the angel of secrets, mystery and laughter, his name meaning "Mystery of God". He is not, as far as I know, mentioned in the Torah or the Bible, and instead appears in Jewish mysticism, most notably in the Sefer ya Zohar, the major book of the Kabbalah. I guess the connection to phantasms can be made.
    - Haman is a character in the Bible, an antagonistic figure, a Persian King whose goal was to slay the Jews in Persia, and who was trumped by Queen Esther. I fail to see the connection to thunder, but maybe it comes from other texts. In the Qu'ran, the name refers to a completely different character, as "Hāmān" is a title referring to the architect of the Pharaoh.
    - I didn't find anything much for Amatiel. It seems to be a first name related to "hope" in meaning ? I thought the name also looked similar to Armisael, but there isn't much known about it either besides being related to the womb, and being mostly featured in Neon Genesis Evangelion. So Armityle is kind of a mystery to me.

    • @thehighwayman3122

      Uria being a reference to Uriel is a neat connection, but it's just as likely that it's a reference to Uriah the Hittite, a soldier who's death was engineered by King David so that the king could claim the man's wife, Bathsheba, as his own.

    • @GiftOfKnowledge-np9vg
      @GiftOfKnowledge-np9vg 2 года назад +2

      I think it mainly comes down to 2 factors;
      1) For as bad as their adaptations to the real game were, the designers can show a bit _too much_ to the Gods; especially in insisting they be tributed out or brought out with with 1-turn revivals. But the Beasts, we can spam out like they're Summoner Monk targets. (Which in fairness, is accurate to their respective anime.)
      2) Because they had less catch-up to do to get to their anime selves, new support was already able to boost their pay-off beyond that, like Hamon's Spell/Trap negate on Skyfire. Meanwhile, a lot of what Ra & Obelisk have gotten is either stuff to just get them out or bring them back to their anime levels (and Slifer hasn't exactly gotten much of anything for when it's on field). Only real exceptions are their attack name cards. hopefully that changes going forward now that, aside from protection effects that were pretty inconsistent anyway, all their effects seem to have already made it onto cards in their respective decks.
      Also, bonus 3) Their Field Spell is great. The official God field, Mound of the Bound Creator, came out first and was made generic level 10 support for the most part. But Fallen Paradise is dedicated, and thus allowed to be amazing; which if neat because it was already amazing in the anime.

You take no battle damage from attacks involving him (Dimension Fusion Destruction effect), your opponent can attack an Armityle in attack position, but you won't suffer anything. With Fallen Paradise on field it's cannot be targeted or destroyed by card effects. I think he is currently a better fusion than Trilojig.

    Am I the only one who thinks the Armityle retrain is a bit superfluous? I mean yeah, big 1-sided field nuke while also summoning the base version... but if you're using the archetypal fusion spell to summon it, it's just a better option to summon the base version with it, since it keeps Armityle from taking battle damage (which is its last remaining weakness if you already have Fallen Paradise on the field)
    If you use the retrain instead, yeah you have the base and the opponent's field clear, but they still have their turn and you're sitting on a 0 atk body
    If it came out before Dimension Fusion Destruction, I'd be a bit more lenient personally as just an easier way to get it with Poly and a fusion substitute, but it was revealed AFTER the structure deck with all the support came out, so it just feels a bit weird to me

    Regarding the names Uria, Raviel, Hamon, and Armityle:
    Haman, dubbed Haman the evil, is told to be an advisor to the Persian king Xerxes (in Judaic and Christian tales he is called Ahasueros).
    At some point in the Book Esther, Haman is either crucified or hanged on his king's order on a gallow or tree that Haman himself had prepared for the persecution of Jews.
    His character has been likened to the anti-Christ and while I didn't find any direct relation to thunder or lightning, his death seems to come pretty sudden, as if figuratively struck by God.
    Additionally, lightning is also associated with punishment which apparently was within the scope of his office.
    „Uriel“ can be translated as „Fire of God“ and according to some tales Uriel is the angel guarding the entrance to hell which matches the searing flames.
    „Raziel“ means something along the lines of „Mystery of God“ and Raziel is supposed to have access to the Book of Life where every human life is detailed which conversely might give him some power over death (the summoning of tokens and conversion of monsters into power can be stretched into a reference to this).
    Unlike these two Amatiel is not an archangel and is associated with hope and rebirth, new life, so one could say that in true Chaos fashion Armityle is a contrapoint to its rather devastating predecessors.

    While Shimmering Scraper is about “big number,” you still have to combo it out with Raviel to get there.

    Trilojig. Why have I never heard of that card? Sounds like I gotta at least try it out in Trains once. Especially since Citadel can be a material and a way to trigger its effect.

    Hamon is also a JoJo reference.
    Hamon is sun-like energy that manifests itself as lightning.
    Hamon (the card) is the Lord of *Striking Thunder* and is the evil version of The Winged Dragon of *Ra.*

  • @williamtoyfell7969
    @williamtoyfell7969 Год назад

    The Carthaginians, who spoke a language closely related to Hebrew, worshiped a storm god called Ba'al (Lord) Hammon, a "Lord of Striking Thunder", if you will. His name indicates he may even have been a merger of the Semitic Storm God Hadad and the Egyptian God Amun, considered an aspect of Ra, hence his design.

    3:41 Hi. I can help here.
    I've never heard of Raziel and Amatiel prior to watching this vid, as angelology isn't a part of the normal curriculum. I can help with the other 2, though.
    Uriel is one of the Four Archangels (best term that fits and non-Jews will understand) in Judaism. (The other 3 are Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. (Before you say, "No, there's 7 Archangels!", 1: that's a Christian thing, and 2: that's from the Book of Enoch with The Watchers.) "Uriel" literally translates to "Light of G-d".
    Haman, on the other hand, was basically Hitler's biblical predecessor. Because 1 Jew wouldn't bow down to him because it's not a Jewish this to physically bow to anyone but G-d, Haman was like, "Genocide sounds like a good idea". Of course, this failed because Ester, the queen, was Jewish, and told the king, Ahashveiros (I don't know how it would be spelled in English, ok?) that she would be killed if Haman's plan went through, so Haman got hung. (It's an oversimplification, I know, but if you want it in more detail, read the Book of Ester for yourself. It's a book in the Hebrew Bible.)
