That's part of the old-timey-times doctor/surgeon aesthetic. In the days before things like hand-washing and germ theory, it was seen as a good thing if your doctor had a bit of blood and bodily grime on their smock. It inspired confidence by showing that whatever medical problem you had going on was just another day at work for the doctor. Think of it like how a modern car mechanic might talk to a customer with grease on their hands and work clothes, except it's a major biohazard.
Elli: They have to laugh at my jokes. Which shouldn't be hard because I'm hilarious. Edith: *who has not laughed once and has glossed past all of Elli's macabre jokes so far with another question* Oh of course. I agree completely with you there. Lol. I know it's cuz Edith's part is pre-recorded, but I like thinking that Edith is used to customers with obscure humor so she's now unfazed by it and just keeps doing her job
Elli's a pretty complicated person. I'm sure there are lots of folks out there who'd appreciate her macabre sense of humor. Also, here's hoping Edith finds her perfect match someday.
Elliwyn is such an awkward mess *AND I LOVE IT.* I don't know how much of her you had planned out from the beginning, but I think she might be my favorite of your characters. Like a one-off NPC that gets booted into the thick of the main storyline.
I have never been more glad to hear a character is ace before. I mean, don’t get me wrong, aisling is great, but something about Elliwyn is just so charming that I am always down for content involving her
I RP'd with thus video...well the one for RPing and I figured one of my current PCs is Ace Panromantic and is just not there and probably won't be for a long time. May play this with another character I have knowing she has a crush on another PC.
So funny story: I sent one of my characters to Edith and at first he was a bit guarded about his answers but as he went along he became increasingly relaxed and started opening up to the point where it actually became less like a matchmaking service and more like an impromptu therapy session it was genuinely amazing. He even left with a smile on his face and the words "Thank you. This was surprisingly helpful" as they parted ways If anyone's interested I'll leave the transcript as a reply to this comment later

Most of my characters lack any interest in sexual or romantic relationships. I have three whom do. I leave things pg at worst cause mine prefer to court rather than simply go with their whims. One even broke up with his girlfriend to keep her safe. Doesn't date others either. But that was adorable to watch.
@chad hale I am sex repulsed. I find it disgusting and awful. Even thinking about it makes me shudder. It’s not “self discipline” or “self control” I literally could never feel sexual attraction, or want to have sex with someone if I tried. As for romance, I’m not repulsed by it and quite like the idea of romantic relationships but I also don’t, and have never, felt romantic love. I can feel platonic and familial love but not romantic. I can assure you I am not repressed. I simply do not care about romance, or have “crushes” on people, and having a sexual endeavor would traumatize me and to be honest I’d probably vomit. This didn't even make it to my Watch Later playlist. I had to watch such a weird concept right away. Two completely different characters played by the same person conversing. The completion of the matchmaker's room was convincing too, considering how long apart the videos were shot.
Ellie standing in what felt like a sitting environment made me want to be like, "Take your apron off! Stay awhile!" These are so funny, and I have to keep reminding myself that both characters are Ginny

I have to say, what really impresses me about these videos is your colour sense. You always seem to really do a great job pairing the characters with the backgrounds. It really kind of acts as an expansion of your characters costuming and I really respect it. You have a gift for set design.
*Wipes eyes.* Aww, Elli talking about her brother being the reason she got in to healing was so sad, kinda sweet in an honouring his memory kind of way but still sweet. If you ever do another vid like this with 2 characters, could I suggest Augury & Na'krasha? I got the impression that Augury is more the crime boss rather than someone who gets their hands dirty but still, that's a combo that could be interesting to see.
I like how Elliwyn went to the Matchmaker with blood still on her apron. Edit after the fact. God the slightly pauses between Elliwyn's work related anecdotes and Edith continuing like she's trying to ignore it. Icing on the cake.
I'm imagining Isolde (my Aasimar Cleric) would just feel so uncomfortable. She's awkward and clueless. Spend 20 years living in the temple (so her entire childhood). She barely knows "how to people". So when the bard of the party offered to share a tent, her response was a cheerful "Okay~" followed by a mental "isthishowflirtingsworks?' She's got no idea whether he's just being nice or trying to hit on her. Either way, the company is appreciated

If you scream, I will punch you."
Yay more ace/aro characters! My artificer is happily in that category... and really, would probably recommend her best friend see Edith since there was some extremely awkward crushing going on. Partly the fact that my artificer half crushed her best friend's heart.
I'm really curious about this world that's being developed here. I understand that they're designed to be able to plop into any setting for roleplaying ease, but I'm wondering if these characters and npcs exist in the world you DM in! Great video as always!
Pretty sure they do. As a dm, I find that any character created can ultimately be plopped in anywhere, all that changes is current events and fact base for conversation. Also as a dm, I find that you never create a character unless you are going to use it, too much work otherwise. If you need filler characters, you don't make full stat blocks and such, my town guard has essentially the same skill set and stats no matter what, you add a couple details for flavor and to seem like its unique, but you don't make a full stat block, likewise most common folk, are the same way. The only difference is the relevant profession skill, and interest details.
This was so fun! Plus as someone who is aroace this video was definitely the hardest to respond to in character so I honestly appreciated the example...

Yay more ace/aro characters! My artificer is happily in that category... and really, would probably recommend her best friend see Edith since there was some extremely awkward crushing going on. Partly the fact that my artificer half crushed her best friend's heart.

I'm really curious about this world that's being developed here. I understand that they're designed to be able to plop into any setting for roleplaying ease, but I'm wondering if these characters and npcs exist in the world you DM in! Great video as always!
Pretty sure they do. As a dm, I find that any character created can ultimately be plopped in anywhere, all that changes is current events and fact base for conversation.
Also as a dm, I find that you never create a character unless you are going to use it, too much work otherwise.
If you need filler characters, you don't make full stat blocks and such, my town guard has essentially the same skill set and stats no matter what, you add a couple details for flavor and to seem like its unique, but you don't make a full stat block, likewise most common folk, are the same way. The only difference is the relevant profession skill, and interest details.
