Thanks for another great livestream. I had to catch it on the replay but glad I watched. You're always a stand up dude with great perspectives that I appreciate.

Hey there, I was just watching this on the replay and wanted you to know that I hope you still don’t feel any kind of guilt. Your video wasn’t feeding into any of the drama of it all. It was measured and even-handed. I know you’re probably over the topic, but I felt like leaving a comment.
Also, it’s great to hear you guys talk about 2000 ad/Slaine/Nemesis. They used to be sold at newsagents here in Australia when I was a kid (and are still prevalent to this day). Super accessible!

Hmm. I've followed rather closely how the case developed and it's depressing how everyone was happy to take a hit on Ed. Left, right, 'fans', youtubers... Guy got zero support, not even benefit of the doubt. Remember listening your stream working nightshift and I it left me with sour taste. A bit like Chris from ComicTropes, you avoided sensationalism, but the overall tone... The whole community let him down in a massive way. Shame.

Okay. I don't know how to respond to this. I reported on the story responsibly. It sucks that this story ended the way it did. Ed will forever be missed.

I just wish people wouldn't turn the story into something it is not. Especially those not directly affected by it. Ed will certainly be missed.

@@TaylorTalksComics, exactly: what was your story? Why did you mention Cartoonist Kayfabe in the title of this post - other than to have its newsworthiness draw people to your channel? Perhaps you should have put an asterisk telling us "Detailed in •other• episodes of my show". Your comments on Ed Piskor's untimely demise are akin to an English professor setting out to teach Macbeth, but to say during the start of the lesson, "Listen, we're not sure why Macbeth did what he did, and we're not going to discuss those 'witches' - that would be turning the story into something it's not." Then, to have this professor gripe about conservatives who say, "Go woke, go broke".
I can't name too many celebrity suicides in which the note was made public in full detail, and this one describes in great detail the onslaught Ed experienced, stating a "magnitude" in which "[w]e're not built to have hundreds (maybe a few thousand?) people judging and/or harassing us at once. A private and solitary mind can't take it." Ed went on to name specific executioners, doing so with a clear mind as to how being cancelled works. He described the avalanche, and he singled out the loudest yodelers. This message was paid for in blood, and yet, there is no curiosity as to why he cited these people as his killers. Strange, right? Because the comics community doesn't want to address it. Ed's note is easy to understand, but none of his clarity inspired a true inquisitiveness in your post-mortem You aren't the only one ignoring the fact that Ed outed members of the notorious "Whisper Network" in his note, but I expected more from you.
On April 2nd, Chuck D posted the following: "Man we lost one of the greats… a super ART inspiration Ed Piskor … RestInBeats man …and I really don’t get it …this 21C SocialsFear are pushing so many people out of this realm. Dmn"
Somehow, despite his professional distance from the comic book industry, a rap icon gets it, while a guy who is "YouTubing about comic books and manga!" has •nothing• relevant to say.

I don't recall Ed noting upset at CG'ers, i.e. none were named in his suicide note. Those he did name have been involved in previous accusation insinuations to incite mobs, Alex de Campi as far back as 28 October 2011 tweeting out an insinuation that the royalties from the black-and-white comic produced through the Kapow Comic Convention Mark Millar launched were laundered when they were IN FACT donated to the Yorkhill Children's Foundation. Mark shut it down quickly, but Alex's intent was obvious - to bring down a successful comics creator.
What has been disingenuous so far is commentators still close to the mainstream comics industry giving the group Ed named a pass, when it's clear they don't really care about any potential victims. In addition to Brandon Graham, Rob Liefeld and Greg Smallwood are the standouts in this situation. Graham & Liefeld are already pariahs within this industry, so we'll just wait and see if Smallwood gets similarly ostracised for having the guts to call Ed's accusers from his suicide note. The mainstream comics industry and comics media will sadly continue to shield these Cancel Killers.

I never insinuated or stated that comicsgaters were complicit or named in Ed’s note. My comment about them was merely about how their coverage has been salacious and disgusting. And how they made the story about them and their silly political propaganda when it had nothing to do with them. Which is what my point was. It never had anything to do with them.
I didn’t mention the people Ed listed in his note, not because of some cover up or fear of that group. I have no loyalties or bonds to the people he listed. This episode wasn’t about combing through Ed’s suicide note to figure out every detail of it. Ed is dead. He is gone. We lost a pillar of the industry. I wanted to focus on the outpouring of love and remembrance of him.

@@TaylorTalksComics Comicsgate is a small corner. Ed named who he did because he knows once they have you in their sights, there is no escape. The fact that the mainstream industry and comics media continues to let them hold it hostage, while excluding them from factual reporting, is disgusting. Over a decade of bullying and still no exposé on this group yet. Who is backing them such that centrist and progressive pundits are too scared to report on them? It's easy to report on those already ostracised by the industry, but that's not what is needed now. An individual felt that hopeless from this Twitter Jihadi, they took their life. This situation requires courage to stop them collecting another scalp.

    Taylor,
There are a lot of fans who skirt between the mainstream and comicsgate like grey Jedis. I may not agree with everything you say but it's important to hear all takes. My only advice would to not blankly say you don't want anyone watching your videos that are a part of CG. It's too 'general', there is a lot of nuance to the comic book fan ecosphere.
Keep up the great work dude 👍

I don't know how or why it took you so long to post this video. Ed passed away eight days ago, but you still don't have your facts straight about when you said things or when he died or when you heard that he died. You open the video with pauses and brain farts - not because you are particularly choked up about Ed, but because you couldn't be bothered to prepare a coherent timeline. In general, you seem completely baffled and confused. You state that Ed's death wasn't political, but you condemn Comicsgate, which is a political designation. Well, Ed named his killers in his suicide note, and not one of them was from Comicsgate. Still, you don't think there are any answers to what killed Ed Piskor, despite the fact that he laid it all out very clearly in a sober letter. What have you had to say here about Ed Piskor that hasn't already been said better by countless channels for over a week? You don't seem to want to talk about the real issues leading to Ed's demise, instead protecting people who couldn't care less about you, but that you know would gladly rip your life apart if you were to mention their names. What you don't talk about are Ed's art or his comics channel. I guess you just wanted to see if people held you accountable for Your comments leading up to Ed's death.

      Wow…
I think you’re misrepresenting my position or where I stand. Possibly because you haven’t watched much of my content, and that’s okay. But, I’ve frequently championed Ed’s artwork and Cartoonist Kayfabe. There’s no shortage of my appreciation there. I’ve watched CK since day one.
As far as my issues with comicsgate and this story, I didn’t say they were complicit in Ed’s death. I was pointing out their sleazy coverage of the story. And how they flip flopped their position to fit their narrative.
I’m not protecting anyone. That’s a very wild assumption you’re making. I don’t have any allegiance or loyalty or fear of the people Ed named in his letter.
