  • The fallout from Ed Piskor's suicide is sickening. Pro's throughout the comic industry are determined to blame everyone but the people who attacked Ed. This week Marvel Comics writer Cheryl Lynn Eaton claimed fans duped Piskor's attackers into attacking him more by supporting him on social media. A move Eaton claims would make Piskor's attackers believe Ed was creating sock puppet accounts. The lengths Cheryl Lynn Eaton, Alex Di Campi and others have gone to are revolting. Wes and Aaron Sparrow discuss the insane coddling of Ed Piskor's attackers within the comic book industry. Comic book industry blame everyone but Ed Piskor's attackers.

The people who Ed Piskor had said were directly responsible for his name being ruined are only proving him right with their attitude and behavior. The "mainstream" comic book industry in the U.S. coming to their defense and saying that they are the actual victims in all of this speaks volumes about who runs DC and Marvel, and what kind of people that they really are. If anything proves that social media was a big mistake and that it ruined everything, it's this.

From an outside perspective, Ed Piskor!, Say his name! Ed was a genuine comic artist and writer . His love for the craft of drawing/writing comics and his love of the history was infectious on his youtube channel. He loved making comics, He was both informed, proud and humble. but wanted to share the love with everyone and found common ground . Sharing the gift of art is the best thing one can do. On his youtube channel. he was becoming an historian and his analysis of the drawing of othe artists was fair and authentic. He loved his art his and commitment to his art really matters and ne never spoke about his personal life. I respect you.... Until horrible and malicious outsiders who would destroy him for the MSM to ride..... Shame on the comic 'industry' movers and shakers. The process is the punishment now. There is an entire meme type about, "So you like Nirvana? Name five of their songs." A meme created to shame longtime fans into not questioning someone's bona fide's when they are opining about something specific. Yet now they're gonna say that no one who isn't fully invested in Ed's career shouldn't have an opinion, yeah, no, doesn't work that way. Your rules.

It does kind of boggle my mind that a 17 year old in today's climate didn't think anything was odd about the conversation then (especially if what we've seen is the "worst" evidence she had to offer), but now when she's 21 it's automatically: "Ed Piskor likes little high school girls!" or whatever she said. I mean, you're totally fine with the conversation, joking around, etc....and nothing ever actually happened....but now at 21 it was such a heinous thing that you have to announce it to the world in an extremely emotional way (just the language used in her original posts). Then in her last post she seemed to want to walk back some of the tone..saying she was never "harmed", that he wasn't a pedophile, and she didn't want to be involved in the whole comic book politics of it. She comes off as someone not really emotionally mature...which I get...I'm sure at 21 I was far from being completely mature myself. But what inspired her to show that stuff off years after the fact?

I've seen a lot of comments/ posts saying that this situation is a perfect example of why social media was a mistake. I disagree with that.
Social media is just a tool, like a hammer or screwdriver. Tools are effective when used for their intended purposes, but they can be misused as weapons by their operators.
We're born with tools, our hands are biological tools that we can use to help or harm just like a hammer or social media.
I think it was Sean Gordon Murphy who said something to the effect that Twitter came along and comic pros' use of it showed them for who they really are.
As the saying goes, "Never interrupt your enemy when they're making a mistake."
Let them put their ugliness on display, effectively cataloging and timelining their evil words and actions.
I hope Ed Piskor's family can make whatever use of their social media history as possible and that some actual legal consequences of some kind befall his murderers,
but after situations like Alec Holowka's, Vic Mignogna's, Johnny Depp's, etc., I don't have much faith that any true measure of satisfying justice will be served to them. They don't have Johnny Depp money to afford the kind of representation that got him results.

I've been reading comic books for about 40 years now. I remember the interaction between editors and readers through letter columns at the end of most books. Occasionally we would be treated with a creator answering questions, though not very often as I recall. Letters to WIZARD MAGAZINE were particularly enjoyable. Ohhh, that's one milestone I'm afraid we'll never get back. Anyway, imagine my surprise when I started to surf X (back when it was just Twitter) and found out so called professionals acting like malevolent stinky hags: the clearly coordinated attack against Ellis, then against Stewart; the infamous "pledge" all creators had to "sign"; King, a grown ass adult, attacking Jae Lee, his own cover artist, just because he made a living by working with people that werent' part of their little club of friends. How did this happen? How did a healthy exchange of opinions turn into childish efforts to humiliate those we don't like? Why would this industry in particular attract so many petty souls? I don't get it.

He explained that in the note, saying he was showing her Red Room pages before the book was announced. And given the fact she just highlights THAT part of the conversation while cropping out or blurring out everything else, it makes me inclined to believe him. If it's so damning, then let's see the unedited conversation right? Also the "partner in crime" thing is a term Ed used for cohorts and friends on numerous occasions and they were all adults.

I didn't know Ed Piskor. I don't know how perfect or imperfect he was.
But I know that he wasn't accused of a crime. He was accused of a future crime. A crime the virtue signalers, the Pharisees, the which hunters believe he may have intended to commit. Seeing an opportunity to hurt someone, they chose to use that to destroy what he believed in. To destroy him as a person.
I wish he had been able to get through this, because there's something on the other side. But I also know depression, and it causes you to make bad choices. In the moment Ed couldn't see though the haze. You can read in his words that his belief in himself is completely gone.
Unlike a movie or TV show, the accusers will not feel bad for what they did when they see the consequences. They are likely literal Narcissists, people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. They will deny reality to extremes to avoid accepting responsibility. All we can do is find ways to expose their actions to others.

He wasn’t even accused of a future crime, the DMs shown made it very clear that he wouldn’t go for a minor. The point of all this was that he acted creepy and being a creep, not a P, was the crime. Even the woman (21) accusing him of it clearly stated that Ed Piskor wasn’t a P, just a creep.
So yeah, he died for being creepy, not for any fear of him committing any crimes. That’s also why there was no way out for Ed Piskor as he couldn’t proof a thing, being considered a creep is ultimately a subjective thing, not a crime.

I think congratulations are order. IT seems the bullies have driven all of the true creatives out of the industry as well as the customers. Most of the comics people I know are only interested in crowd funding their own projects and supporting same. Not interested in supporting modern comics. Am collecting omnibus editions of Kirby's work from the 60s. Would rather live in the past were the craft and story was the purpose of the comic. All the cry bullies can continue their precious gatekeeping to a dead industry. The day has come where they are the only ones interested in purchasing their work which is like a mediocre Cook, calling him or herself a "chef", bad mouthing the true chefs and then opening a restaurant where other horrible cooks share their dishes. The food is no good, everyone knows it, and more important, real restaurants know NOT to hire these cooks or let them near the kitchen because they spoil (literally) anything they touch.

Ed leaves a big wake, and many people need to do some heavy analysis. Sad that something so fun and enjoyable like comics has become so symptomatic of the cultural rot that is America today.

As far as I'm concerned, people that were jumping on RUclips to report about it and stoke fires are just as guilty as the people on that list.
I never paid attention to comics youtubers but I found out about a thing called Comicsgate over this and they were awful and instrumental in Ed's death. I found a guy Jon Del Arroz who says he is a big conicsgate guy in my Marvel Masterworks forums preforming yellow journalism and stoking fires of hate and hiding behind alt accounts. It's gross. I see you made videos about Ed before this all happened, so maybe you should look in a mirror and ask if YOU contributed too.
I've been hearing about backstabbing and whisper black lists since like 07 or 08, and the name De Campi has been on my radar as garbage for well a decade, but it looks to me this comicsgate is the same exact thing. But instead of hiding behind social justice, it's hiding behind politics.
Maybe we should ALL ignore garbage people from ALL sides and maybe not jump on bandwagons or report and give oxygen to any bullshit gossip.
