Our puppy is 9 weeks as of today and I started working with him on this over the past week. He was quite the handful (as is expected), but teaching him to “settle” on his bed has resulted in a drastic change. There’s less chaos when we get back to the house and he’s much more content being alone in his playpen or crate. This video was very timely and it’s great to see we’re heading in the right direction. Thanks for the videos!
Another great video! This works very well. My boy is the same age as Thunder and through watching your videos and applying the techniques you and Kat show, he's extremely well behaved. Just wanted to say thank you for putting out the great content and keep up the great work!
Thanks for watching and for being a fan great work with your dog.
Great video guys
Thanks for watching!
A dog well groomed from the beginning ! Lovely video, thanks man !
I see a Standing Stone cooking channel in your future.
congratulations! you have improved the genetics of your dogs, great specimen!
Thanks for watching
What a sweetie!
love it. Our 10 mo old female GSP needs this. She goes nuts for company even if it is one of us and she loves to jump for that first minute until she gets the excitement level out of her system. Our fault because you can't just yell "down" repeatedly and expect that to work and that has been all the more we have concentrated on that training. bad I know. we probably taught her so far that this behavior is tolerable.
Thanks for being a fan
You make it look so easy😉
We sure try, but also try to show real situation so you can learn as well
@@StandingStoneKennels I didn't mean that as a criticism. It's amazing! You and Kat work well together. And THAT is amazing as well. 👍 😉
Another awesome video! I’ve been following your training videos and using them since day one with my German shepherd puppy. Watching this one encouraged me to enforce her training more firmly again. I’ve gotten lax as new owners do 🙄. Do you have any advice on what to do if your puppy already has started putting paws on the counter? We say off and make her sit down or go to her place. But when I’m not there I know she does it.
Applying the info from other videos, would be not to place the pup in that situation. Only put them there when you’re there. Reinforce that behavior of well mannered pup, and use the e collar vibration to shy away from counter surfing.
Giving them that temptation is what will develop bad behaviors as they’ll associate you being done with the chance to be bad or opportunistic
How do you guys lean your pup off clicker training I’ve got a 8 week old black lab I’ve been watching the videos on sprig and it’s very helpful!
Hey where did you get that knife?
I want to preface by saying I love and much appreciate your educational videos - quality techniques, videography, etc. I’m currently using them all to train my 4 month old Vizsla. Thank you!
That being said, I applaud the displayed discipline; however, your dog almost appears timid to interact/behave within the house. Is there such thing as too much conditioning? At what point do you want your dog to comfortably practice his own autonomy?
Thanks for being a fan!
@@StandingStoneKennels any response to my question?
An alternate ending where she turns around and says "steaaak" lol
Great video, thanks. How old is your GSP?
He is almost 2!
How come you activate the e-collar before asking your dog to comply? Would it not be better to see if they comply first on their own?
Later in the process absolutely currently right now we’re not ready for that step.
What size Kuranda bed is that?
This is a 35 x 23 with a slipcover!
These are available at standingstonesupply.com
What would you do if he would have jumped up on the table? How do you correct that?
chicken nugget e-collar with video training. Leave your house and go sit in your car in the driveway while watching a camera and after you tempt him with some nuggets on the counter as soon as he places paws on the counter nick him on a super low response level. Seriously it worked for us and we used vibrate.
What do you do with the dogs when you're out of the house for an extended time period? Do you Kennel them, or let them free range? I'm letting my GSP free range in the house, to a point. She is allowed to roam our main floor, but the doors to the bedrooms and bathroom are closed and so is the basement. How to do teach good manners if you're not present?
Are you able to have a gsp and a full time job? I wanna get one but don’t know how they would do with being at work for 8 hours
@@graysonbarham1773 they're great. Got a 2.5-year-old boy, and he's easily the best-behaved dog I've ever had. Just needs exercise and mental stimulation between 1 and 2 hours per day in my experience.
I've been cutting bell peppers wrong
😂😂😂
Thunder appears to be black on screen, is he? If so has akc changed their position on the blk & whites?
He is black. No the GSPCA is who you are thinking. They have been voting to change this for nearly 20 years and it keeps getting closer and closer.
Who else has a German shorthair pointer
Me and I've never had a Pup with more energy... he's insane
I am sorry you lost me at E collar
Meh, if he is 11, my lab is lvl 3,162.
Lol - My Lord I can only imagine to meet a level 3162! LOL
This guy seems already trained, would like to see a more immature pup in an earlier stage of learning.
I’m going to go over here…..while he calms down! No, that dog IS calm from the very start. He is a dream, not a normal exited dog. Sorry doesn’t teach anyone a thing sorry! It’s hard to get him of his bed. If this is a training video, sorry, fail.
I would love for you to come meet him he’s definitely excitable just not the first time he’s worked through that drill so he understands how to behave didn’t show as much as we normally do in some of our videos but it is a good concept to apply to a busy dog in the house
It seems like this is the video that shows the success of proper training. If they showed a video of an out of control dog, people would just complain that it's just an unsuccessful training video. Maybe the best approach is to show a before/after so we can see progress.
This is the next step, the dog is shaking and whining with an collar when he comes out, in his own house that is excited.
I've watched Thunder's videos from a puppy. This dog is excitable! Without the proper training that he's had, he could definitely be a wrecking ball. I think that's a good suggestion that M1911 made. You should show clips of Thunder's wild side to show what your conditioning has done for him.
