    I question the validity of anyone claiming shock collars are a terrible tool for bird dogs. Yeah, I got a border collie never used a shock collar on it. She just does what you do. Never leaves more than 30 yards. English setter on the other hand, needs the collar couple times a year. At 30 yards, any dog will listen. At 100 yards, love to see an English setter, with regular breeding from just a neighbor, be in complete control with pheasant in them. Sure some will, others won't. I think shock collar is the greatest thing for dog training since the creation of sliced bread. Don't know anyone in person who doesn't agree.

    I need to get back reinforce where my 8month old is to go when recalled. Don't assume, as I did, that because your dog recalls to you 99 percent of the time, she is trained. Just yesterday I was mowing grass and my wife let the dog out. she used the vibrate or tone on the collar to recall the dog and instead of recalling to her, the dog just ran faster to me. Thankfully I was across a yard and not across a busy street. S

    We got a brittany pup that from day one was independent and training is going well but I can't slack on it or he goes back to being more independent then wanting to do his job... I'll get there before the season starts.

    Hey , So my dog fully understands recall , understands ecollar pressure and the potential of a ecollar. Do you have any tips if my dogs istraction is so high that when offleash he engages with a high istraction and blows through the ecollar and ignores recall. Do I bump up the setting/correction on the ecollar?

    Picking up a gsp puppy this week. Our lab was (is) a trainer’s dream dog, but I’m nervous the gsp will be a bit more of a handful. Binging all your videos because it’s been 9 years since we’ve had a puppy 😬.

    with teaching the dog to go to another person. Are you training them to go to anyone to get the vibrate off? What if my dog goes to a person in another field or stranger on the road? Hoping they never run off like that. But, does the dog see a person and think I need to run to any person to get this to turn off?

      I was training my 16 week GSP tonight with the Ecollar and he ran to someone else. I’ve been the only person working him thus far. How do I make him only come back to me? I suppose repetition?

      Repition, my dog won't come to anyone but me. Shoot a bird and im off doing something else, he won't give it to anyone but me. Just an age thing, really came in after our first few hunts

    Love your videos. Question for you I’ve been doing the vibration for my puppy at seven months old and she’s responding super well to it coming to me on the vibration and eating her food. It’s an enjoyable experience for her. Every time I put the collar on she sits down and wants to go train. When do I use the stimulization? I don’t want to use it too much but I know when hunting season comes there’s gonna be times where she might get too far and I need to put it to use or gets on a bird and won’t come back. Thanks.

    • @matthewmuhlberg9894
      @matthewmuhlberg9894 10 месяцев назад

      Not them but i am in same positin if your pup is responding promptly to the vibration and able to return promptly continue with vibration only, I only use a low level stimulate level when my pup is locked in on the wrong thing and follow it up with the audible tone in my case to have him return. But if they respond well don't use what you don't need

    I notice that when you praise or give reward it seems a little light, pet them tell them they are good. I'm not a pro and don't claim to be but i give them lovin's i make a big deal about what they did right, i get excited with them give them a kiss on their mussel or a hug. Is what i do wrong for the training session?

    Always amazes me why the trainers in USA rely so heavily on shock(vibration) collars for correction on so many different steps in the training process of a gundog. On the neck around the belly etc etc.... it is so unnecessary for training gundogs. For centuries the best dog men/women did not have this tool and were trained to a higher standard. Love watching the videos but maybe its time to get away from all these fades and learn how to really train dogs the best way. I have nothing against these collars when used correctley but maybe its time to set a goal on a new pup to train without it and get back to the roots of training gundogs. Its so satifying to get a dog to a high level of gundog work or winning on the trialing scene with a dog trained without all the e-collars and gimmicks. A whistle, long lead, dummies, cold game, access to birds and a good understanding of the K-9 Dog Body Language/psychology is all you need......

    • @StandingStoneKennels
      @StandingStoneKennels  3 года назад +26

      I fully understand and hear what you are saying. Yes for centuries dogs were trained without ecollar or gimmicks. Also people relied on the telegraphs, horses to plow fields and automobiles traveled at 28 mph. Advancements in technology are part of life and help in all aspects of life including dog training. To say you must have an ecollar is wrong, but to say ecollars can’t aid in training by allowing better timing and more consistent communication with your dog is also wrong. Thank you for watching and your thoughts!

      ECollars aren't fads. And they are, in the right hands, a superior tool. Do you still ride a horse to work? Or use a mule for agriculture?
