I’m personally not a treat trainer with my labs and I wean them off very quickly off treats but looking at different training styles is fascinating and it continues to help me learn, nice video
Awesome work Ethan! I think you and Kat have a very smart puppy on your hands. Clutch did awesome but this definitely shows your training and the importance of timing is key and truly works when done correctly.
I am getting the same black lab next week and I am very exited! Wanted to say huge thank you to you and your team for sharing all these great training sessions with us! I think, I have watched literally each video to get myself ready for the big day ....🐶😃
Love your work! I'm new to the channel and I have to say, I'm very impressed with your instructional videos. I'll be sure to continue watching and learning, thanks for the videos.
Great video v intersting. Do the dogs not find it confusing that u r asking them to get off the bed after rewarding them for being in the bed? They get the treat for doing as u want then they get taken off?
Thanks for watching! We are working on teaching him to get on the bed, so he needs more opportunities to repeat that behavior. He shows he is understanding that getting on the bed is what earns him a reward, not necessarily for staying on the bed at this point. So asking him to repeat the behavior that earned him a reward shouldn't be confusing, it is just offering him more opportunities to get rewarded.
Someone mentioned I should place train my dog to help them with going out in public. I am aware of how this would work for going to their bed or other location but how would this be applicable to taking them to a mall or restaurant?
Just wanna say your vids are awesome I’ve been following along following everything with sprig to the T! My pup is like sprigs twin! Only thing is why not use “place” so in the field you already have that command established? It would seem weird to say “kennel” in a duck blind when you putting him in place. Is it simple to change the command word down the road?
Got an 8-week GSP. Proving to be pretty difficult to train. Very smart, but pretty sassy. Any recommendations or videos of yours that may be useful? We've had GSPs in the past and they were just super trainable. She's from a great breeder, It's just the sass that is throwing me off.
Hi, guys. Love your approach. Quick question, how old is Clutch in this video? I have a 5 month old, who is pretty sharp. Wondering if it its no too late to begin this training with him? We don't use the clicker and he has learned several commands without it.
So I have a 10 week old puppy and he has been doing great with here, sit, and kennel. However, he has decided that he wants to bark a lot before he makes his way to where we are place training him. I don’t mark when he is barking. He’ll bark, I ignore, he’ll realize he needs to go to his “kennel” and then I’ll mark. Should I continue to just ignore the barking prior to him getting to his place or do you have any other suggestions?
Oh my goodness, he is so smart
Agreed!!!!

Wow thank you for super thanks!!
Absolutely love the way you explain free shaping and the importance of timing in training!
Love the focus

I think the trainer's skill, experience and adaptability is more important than the intelligence of the puppy when teaching behaviors/commands
Perfect timing since im looking to get a lab soon
You guys always make everything so easy for us who are learning!

Thank you! And welcome to our channel!
Looks so great! My only question is why don't you toss the reward away from the place in order to reset him? Instead of having to call him off
any tips on French Brittany's? Getting one this October! love your channel!

This is great. What's next step in this process? If they understand lay on bed= reward how do you accomplish bed stay?

Another great video. Do you recommend any training literature or authors for training pointers?
why wouldnt you add a sound que? How is he supposed to know what you want when this training is over?
At this stage we are still really focused on clicker training and will transition to cues later.
Okay, i guess that might make it easier to learn for the puppy, introducing new things one by one. Thanks for the reply!

In place Traing shall we train the dog to sit or stand
Staying on the place is the most important!
Ag what point do I add the command? Do I say the command after I click?
What size beds are those that you use?

My puppy would whine and bark eventually if i dont make it more clear what i want with body language
Yes, communication is key, and it can vary between owners and dogs. It sounds like you figured out what worked with your pup.
@@StandingStoneKennels Thanks for the reply. I did, but i love the idea of letting the puppy problem solve on his own more.
I am a massive fan of PINK GUN PINK GUN
